Beware of deceptive business practice at Hyatt Hotels.
I believe the room types are falsely advertised on the Hyatt website and on Booking.com. We booked a one night stay in a room described as 1 King Bed with Courtyard View at the cost of $348. We expected this would give us a view of the inner courtyard, or at the very least, the interior gardens.. or just a view of something nice. The room we were booked into was 321 which is located at the back of the hotel overlooking the rear carpark. The carpark was the view from the room listed as courtyard view.
We phoned the reception desk and explained we had booked a King Room with COURTYARD VIEW but they confirmed we had been given the correct room and there wasn't anything they could do. So we went down to the front desk and confronted them in person. Receptionist pulled out a map of the hotel and insisted we had been given the correct 'room type'. All these rooms looked to be located along the back of the property overlooking the carpark. It wasn't until I pulled out my phone and read out the exact wording from the booking form that this was a room with COURTYARD VIEW that the receptionist tried to find a room with a better view.
We were checked into a new room, number 425, which does have a nicer view of the interior of the hotel grounds.. but still not of the courtyards themselves. Upon inspection of the hotel grounds it actually seems there are no such rooms that overlook the courtyards.
We had room service and the food was nice and staff were generally pleasant so two stars for that.
