Since moving away from Ithaca in 2007, I've defended the city countless times against lazy stereotypes such as "East Coasters are arrogant know it alls" and the like. Traveling the commons in casual ware with my family, I addressed 5 people with a "hello" and got zero responses. No matter what they do to overhaul the area, nothing can replace common courtesy. Also, it felt like it was trying to be Burlington, VT but lacked the heart to follow it through...again, design without heart is worthless.
