Normally I do not write reviews for Hotels. I am a very seasoned traveler and my husband and I go away every year. This is my third vacation in 2013. I have stayed at various hotels, resorts, cruises etc. We left for a cruise December 1st 2013 and decided to stay at InterContinental Miami from the evening of 11/29 to 12/1. We read many good reviews on trip advisor and figured we would give it a go. Let me start of by saying the hotel is beautiful and the food was good, however, this hotel was such a small part of our vacation and ended up giving us the biggest headache when we got home. On 11/30 at 9am my husband and I rented a car from the onsite Alamo. We only needed the car for the day. Alamo told us to return the car after dinner the same night to the valet parking for Intercontinental. We took the car enjoyed our day in Miami, went to dinner and later that evening returned our car to the valet after dinner around 10pm. THANK GOD I asked the valet for a receipt that we returned the car. December 1st we left for our cruise and returned in NY on 12/7. December 9th I checked my Visa statement, I had a charge from Intercontinental for overnight parking. I never parked the car overnight.... not to mention Intercontinental charges almost $40 to guest at the hotel for parking overnight...insane! I spent my entire work day Monday trying to contact the billing dept, they assured me a call back... not so surprised I never recieved a call back.... Tuesday rolled around.. once again I tried to contact the billing dept... never receive a call back... on Wednesday after spending another work morning on the phone with Intercontinental I finally was told I will receive a credit, which I am still waiting for it to post. Now on to Thursday! Thursday I get a Alamo charge in the amount of $476!!! Imagine how my stomach turned when i saw that! Turns out InterContinental's valet NEVER returned my car to alamo until December 10th! Thank God I had something from them stating I returned it on 11/30. No thanks to the help of Intercontinental I now spent my entire work day on the phone with Alamo to rectify this. Once it was rectified with Alamo, I contacted Intercontinental, who sent me a email more or less stating they barley care. They did not respond to any of my inquires. I requested a refund of our stay or I would of been fine with even one night, they didnt even address my request. I went on this vacation to relax, I need to have a procedure done now that I am back and my doctor specifically told me NO STRESS. Well my relaxing vacation was ruined by Intercontinental because I had to spend my first week back cleaning up their mess. Their response was the valet is a third party. I dont care if the valet is a third party they work directly for InterContinental and InterContinental does the billing... I am holding InterContinental 100% responsible. Their customer service is a disgrace. In my opinion they charge credit cards and if no one notices, they pick up extra fees not due to them. I would of never wrote this review if they were the least bit helpful in rectifying the issue. Do yourself a favor stay at Epic, Marriott or the Four Seasons... all places I have stayed by the cruise port without ever a headache like this!!!
