TK Forbes Review of Wild Dunes Resort
I have always enjoyed my stays at Hyatt properties...
I have always enjoyed my stays at Hyatt properties in Savannah and Charleston. Never a concern until my stay this past weekend at the Wild Dunes Resort. I called and booked the same suite same as the one I booked for my 50th, only one floor down. No hesitation regarding cost for pool and ocean view. My friend and I were using this time to wind down after some concerning medical news. As a consumer and nurse, I personally made sure COVID testing was done and results received. As suggested, I phoned the resort on Wednesday for any updates, amenities or services that would be limited. After the phone called I then proceeded to respond via text. We booked our flight and were excited to exhale. Not one time, until the day of arrival, did anyone mention my reservations had been changed. We we placed in a suite not to my liking with a view of a building on the first floor. When I contacted the office I was passed around from person to person, each with a different explanation. One said there was an ocean view available, but not pool, then they were not using that part of the hotel, then it was the room was booked. But for the fact my companion was recovering from a procedure and was tired, I would have left. In turn we opted to stay at a condo which they called an upgrade. NOT. There wifi was sporadic. We could not make or receive calls or text unless we went outside and down stairs therefore making it impossible to continue to respond to any urgent work correspondence. The final straw was finding blood on the toilet paper holder in the second bathroom.
What a huge let down. We definitely did not get the quality we expected or paid for. Photos to follow.
