The Nirox Sculpture Park is an incredibly beautiful space to visit and see some of South Africa's beautiful landscape, with contemporary sculpture displayed around the park. Only open to the public on weekends, and best to call before visiting. The Nirox Foundation also runs a number of artist residencies throughout the year, so there are often a number of artists on site. This private property is a special space to go for a walk, to clear your head and to breathe.

This is a truly breathtaking beautiful space, tranquil and well kept. However, there's very poor signage and we wandered off into what must have been private property because we were chased down by four malicious dogs out of nowhere! This was extreme scary and disappointing, there was nobody to assist and we got lost looking for statues. Perhaps handing a map of the grounds to visitors in future would be helpful. Residents should also keep their vicious dogs locked up during open hours.

The most gorgeous location regardless of the time of year. Obviously Summer is better but still impeccable during Winter. Make sure to bring water and snacks as it is a lot of walking and the restaurant is relatively pricey. They do have great quality foods but no cool drinks or general snacks you might crave on a hot day.

Perfect little restaurant if you want to have a sit down and a snack. Would not recommend for lunch or large meals.

Lovely location for a picnic and the family.

Well kept and beautiful gardens.

Great selection of live music.

Recently their policy has changed and no food or drinks are allowed in. It all needs to be bought there. This is understandible however I hope the stalls present will be expanded upon as the quantity is not enough and rather overpriced for the quality of snacks provided.

All I can say it is a little piece of heaven ,went to an open air opera, and it was just amazing, the gardens are a treasure trove as you never know what piece of beautiful art you are going to find around the next corner highly recommended when on a visit to JOHANNESBURG

Make sure that you had enough to drink before you come because you will get ripped off with the drinks. They don't have any cokes or sprite, only juices. The price for one 330ml juice is R45. It's not even imported but just local. What a rip off. You basically are forced to buy because you are not allowed to bring your own food or drinks and when you get to the restaurant you are very thirsty. What a disgrace.

If your perfect weekend is slowly drifting off to sleep on a soft chair, listening to soothing music, in the shade of a cool tree by a lake, then you are just like me and this is the place for you.
With amazing food from all walks of life, and music to match, there are plenty of reasons to visit this beautiful park.

The most beautiful hidden gem in the area.

A heavenly river flows through a lush garden of immense proportion. Decorative art and sculptures can be found throughout with lots of rest areas where one can sit and take in nature.

Nirox Foundation Sculpture Park is one of the best places to take the family for a relaxing day, or an exquisite location to go on a romantic day time date. A visit will be unforgettable.

This is what all lazy Sundays should be made out of, beautiful art, lovely gardens and napping on the lawns whilst sipping on wine from the pop-up bar and restaurant. The food was absolutely divine. I love this place its Stunning a real treasure and only a 50 minute drive from Johannesburg.

Nirox sculpture park is a place that looks like it's been taken out of a movie. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and well maintained with so many beautiful art sculptures. They have a winter fair there every May which is really amazing with lots of food and great ice cream!

Who knew that this gem was less than 30minutes' drive from where I was based for the weekend? I had previously lived in Pretoria for many years but only discovered Nirox this weekend when a friend suggested we visit it. It was a Saturday morning very well spent: I clocked more than enough steps for the day while we were meandering through the beautiful park searching for the sculptures and at the same time we were serenaded by the breeze and sounds of gurgling water.

A word of advice...take along a sunhat or lather yourself with sunscreen if it's going to be a sunny day: you don't want to look like the evening's lobster main course.

We downloaded their app but it was not user friendly. It was difficult to pinpoint our location and we were unable to find some of the sculptures. The app could be improved showing the trails and helping the user 'plan' the stroll.

The restaurant only opens at 12h30 so be sure to have a hearty breakfast before venturing out and take a bottle of water along to keep you going. Picnics bare not allowed so plan for this.

I LOVED the sculptures and the size of some pieces, but I have to admit that I was unable to appreciate some of the very 'inspired' pieces which I just thought to be there 'accidentally' if the app had not told me otherwise.

Art in nature: it is the most wonderful combination. DO plan an outing there!!!!

This is where tranquility lives.Serene and surreal, peaceful and thought provoking, interesting and arresting, aplace of so much and so little depending on your whim. Whimsical and contemporary. Well worth a visit. Nita's kitchen on site, provides a passable, if unimaginative fare and has huge potential to do so much better. Cold food is a big no no for me.

The Nirox Foundation is a space of serenity, calm and peacefulness with an added advantage of the most creative and unique sculpture scattered around the park, just waiting to be discovered. It is a superb treat for photographers of landscapes, nature, water, trees and birdlife. It's one of my favourite places close to Jozi.
