Great zoo with cool animals and knowledgeable staff. Concessions a bit pricey. $5 for a small bag of cotton candy is a bit steep

We came specifically for the panda among many other selections. Overall very good experience. However the cafeteria could be much better. We waited to order but then waited 40 minutes to get some fast food!!! This is unaccepted!
Please improve!

I had a fantastic time. My only wish is that the elephant habitat was done. Visit your local library and ask how you can get free passes if your a library member. It helps with bigger familys. Food is pricey bring water bottles the fountains have water bottle refill access. Bathrooms could be better maintained.
Loved it, some exhibits are as 9f now still under construction. It is free for military and veterans and children under 3.
A lot animal wasn't in there places. Didn't really see much.
Not a big zoo but definitely worth the money spent. Location in Grant park very neat to walk around. The panda's were amazing and the gorillas exhibit top notch! Get there early to secure parking if not you are walking!
We all had such a super fun time! Giraffes are my son's favorite animal, and he finally got to see them today in person. I can't wait to go back on a day where he can hand feed them. We got to chat with the keepers at different habitats. It was super cool to learn about all the gorgeous animals, and see the passion the keepers have for them. I can't wait to go back!
We took a trip there recently. They did a great job of clearly marking the one way paths, places to stop, etc. It was a nice trip. We can't wait for them to fully reopen with all of the kid attractions
Great zoo, even in the pandemic they seem to make it work, though maybe a little crowded for pandemic level comfort (although it was an absolutely gorgeous day when we went) Also parking is a mess, we spent forever trying to find a spot then parked a ways away on the street. Maybe try the deck on the opposite side of the park in hindsight.
Giant Panda, Gorilla Giraffes, Reptiles, Lions, Reptiles, Birds, Bears and so on... With Rhinos coming soon... It's a well planned zoo
Not the largest zoo, but had a fantastic array of animals. Easy to walk around and explore, with lots of great spots to just kinda sit and spend time observing the various animals. Highly recommend the gorillas, the lenurs, and the elephants. Really friendly staff and it is easy to get to and easy to navigate. Great value for the money.
Awesome place to go!!! The animals are very well taken care of. All healthy and beautiful. They have an awesome indoor place to see the snakes and turtles. They are working on construction for bigger enclosures for the animals. Super friendly staff all through the zoo!
The reptile exhibits were closed. That was the main thing I wanted to see.
Beautiful zoo that is easily walkable and accessible to walls. there are a large variety of animals and exhibits to see with lots of things to do for the young kids well a lots of education opportunities for everyone. The zoo does a nice job of promoting sustainability and wildlife conservation.
The zoo is beautiful. The employees are nice and the animals are clearly well taken care of. Nothing seemed as if it was placed in too small an area. Really enjoyed the whole thing.
The flow is also nice, with no noticeable dead ends or repeated paths.
Fun zoo. We went on a cold day and the zoo was very empty. Only saw a few other people there. Quite a few animals were off exhibit. Not much going on outside of the exhibits. But we had fun and the staff is great. Easy to navigate.
The zoo is a fun spot when visiting Atlanta, try to go in the morning to avoid the heat and crowds. We missed the elephants, but saw the pandas, gorillas and other exhibits. They also have a great area for kids to climb and burn off some energy!
Free parking. The zoo is surrounded by trees which helps with shade. We brought our own snacks & refillable water bottles so I m not sure how expensive the food is. The zoo is the perfect size for little ones, not too big. The staff was friendly. The animals looked well taken care of.
Not everything was open to the public ,but I was very impresse. First time I get to see a giant pandas.
Had a wonderful time at the zoo. They are taking social distancing precautions seriously and keeping their patrons very safe. The zoo was not too crowded, it was easy to stay apart and all adults were wearing their masks. It was nice to go out with the children and feel safe. I will go back with my family again soon!
Vets get in free. Under three, free. Playground, fantastic splash pad, oh, and animals. Pretty good zoo.
Parking sucks a lot of the times. But not enough to ding the rating.
Employees are better than average.
It has only few animals for the month of November. Best thing is they have couple of pandas
It was good. My kids enjoyed. They had alot of animals, we spent 3 hours almost and still we had to rush through the last few, even though due to covid and weather, some animals were moved. And the kids parks were closed. There were soooo many and good parks for kids, I wish they were open. And there were restrooms in every corner.
4 stars because around 4:20 the security started rushing us, literally telling us to leave cos it's closing time, which was 5 pm and they wanted us out at 4:45
But still my kids enjoyed every bit. Esp cos it was my little babys first visit
Fantastic visit. They are making an expansion to be even greater. We ended up parking on street which is very easy (just don't block driveway or hydrant). We bought tickets online. One of the best zoos we have been too.
Because of Covid, the foot traffic was extremely controlled and paced. The animals look very well taken care of and the staff was friendly and courteous.
The potential is great. Some of the displays were attractive and creative, others were poorly executed and really missed the point of effectively displaying the creatures. The actual visit (3/26/19) was marred by the stench of dirty enclosures especially the primates.
Small. Very small zoo. Awesome amount of conservation. Safari exhibits were under construction. Discount during to weather and none of the kiosks were functional. A nice zoo though I'm sure in warmer weather
Had a lovely afternoon strolling around the zoo checking out all the animals. Only drawback was due to construction some of the exhibits were empty/closed.
New policy at zoo. Timed tickets, one-way walking directions throughout entire zoo, makes for easy walking and seeing the animals. Mask policy is enforced but many guest still wear the mask incorrectly. Overall I enjoyed this experience as there was less foot traffic and more quality viewing of the amazing animals
I'm not always a fan of zoo's as they can sometimes be restrictive to the animals with small enclosures but Atlanta zoo is actually pretty good on this. We'll set out overall with good viewing positions and a wealth of educational areas, and whilst a number of these are not being utilised right now (covid) I can see they would be great locations for running exhibits.
Currently the zoo is running a timed entry system, ensuring a limited number of people in the park at one time, with a well thought out one way system effectively preventing to much bunching and allowing everyone to keep separated.
Amazing place to take the family. Located right in Atlanta.
It's a nice zoo. Not the best one I've ever been to but certainly good.
First time to the zoo in about 30 years. Alot of sections including the live show areas where closed due to the covid19 but overall me and my kids absolutely loved it
Love the expansive gorilla exhibit. Also one of only four zoos to have giant pandas. Very nice and clean. Play areas for the kids. Would've received five stars but the food is not good and grossly overpriced.
The new Zoo Atlanta is so beautiful I recommend it to anyone who wants to travel and go there.
I was very pleased with Zoo Atlanta and the measures they are taking to ensure social distancing is maintained. They have 1-way paths, marked off viewing areas, sanitizer stations, some high enclosed/high exposure areas are closed or have been moved to outside stations, and employees are wearing masks.
If you are wondering if it is safe to visit due to Covid-19, I believe the precautions in place and the fact that the zoo is open-air/outside make it a bit safer than other family activities during these times.
I am not a lover of zoos, for personal reasons.
like that of the elephants, drinking water from a puddle, eating grass, and in such a small space, being one, such a large animal.
I hope and have better living conditions.
since a bird has more space than him.
My kids and I enjoyed ourselves at this park! Very educational some of the animals were away because of the cold I had to create me a parking spot bc I spent 30mins looking for one... Overall the price is fair.
The zoo was amazing! I loved this zoo! Parking could be hard if it was very busy, but I think the price made up for it. Parking is FREE if you can find it. Something I am thankful for! There is some construction currently, but it is well marked, and communicated in advance.
My wife an I absolutely loved the reptile house. It has a ton of snakes. That was something that was nice that I did not realize they had before getting there.
Probably been 20 years since my last visit to Zoo Atlanta. Other than Willie B, I don t remember being impressed back then...but I sure am glad we decided to go back recently with my family. So much activity. So many beautiful habitats. So many knowledgeable staffers for my daughters to ask questions to. And the excitement and passion exuded from every single staffer we encountered which just encouraged us to keep asking and keep learning at every turn. It was a great day that I will not soon forget. AND... with the amount of construction that was in flight, I m excited to return again soon to see what s new!
We love the zoo. With a 3 year old, we go at least once a month.
I love this little zoo! Not too big that you get tired before seeing all the animals. Also the kids area is awesome. There's a play area with slides etc and an area with petting zoo and even a splash pad! It's too bad the admission doesn't cover any of the activities in the kids area but I guess it's ok considering tickets for the carousel and train ride etc are only $3.
Great zoo. Perfect size. Lots of shade.
While zoos are, by nature, places where animals are in captivity, I feel like this zoo cares for the animals and the environments they live in.
Tip: Arrive early to go in at opening.
Also, while food sold here is good, budget conscious people can bring in their own food.
My family has season passes and they are more than worth it! The kids never get tired of going to see the animals! The gorilla section is to notch and definitely a group favorite!
We have taken our little guy here three times and each visit he had a BLAST!!! We always planned our visit on a day we felt might not be as crowded and it for sure makes the experience even more enjoyable. Seeing the flamingos right when you walk in always puts a smile on my face. Being originally from Florida, it always reminds me of my hometown. The giraffes, pandas and lions are a few more of our favorite attractions.
I had a chance to go behind the scenes to feed the panda, Yamg Yang. What a thrilling experience. The cafe had very good food and staff were all friendly and fun. Thank you for a fabulous day!
Wow! All! Over! This! Place! Do not miss your opportunity to visit Zoo Atlanta! Regardless of age! Make it an extended family outing for maximum enjoyment. Every single exhibit is engaging, informative and fun. Zoo attendants are stationed at each viewing to share updates and answer questions. There are plenty of areas to picnic, rest and have quiet time with children as needed. There is a playground, carousel, climbing wall and slide for additional fun. This is a clean, authentically presented zoo with animals of every kind for viewing. Enjoy!
Covid planning is really well done. Scheduled entrance times, one way traffic flow, well marked ground for where to safely stand. It is clear a lot of thinking went into how to open safely and it is being performed well.
I always try to take the kids on an annual trip to the zoo. They always enjoy it and love feeding the giraffes, which you can purchase for $3. They have recently updated, and is still underway, but can't wait to see once the animals have acclimated to their new habitats. The pandas are my favorite and are always so chill. There's also a little park the kids can play, and lots of places for photo opps.
A lot of animals unavailable.
Funnel you thru and make you walk 4 times as much as necessary.
It was so beautiful. I have been here before but on this day they still had alot of construction going on so their was not alot that was accessable. The birds were amazing with lots of personality. The Lions we're beautiful and very relaxed. The gorillas monkeys and orangatangs we're all full of personality. The tiger we saw was a teen and he too was very relaxed. The reptiles were a good visit as well many large snakes and other reptiles would love to see more of a diversity and maybe more breeding so their are happier and equate to more anals to view. I am anticipating visiting after all the construction is finished.
Had a great time at the Atlanta zoo, lots of cool animals and critters.
I love zoo Atlanta! Our kids also love the homeschool semester offeredby the education department.
Great views and a relaxing stroll thru the exhibits
To be honest I don't know how I rated this... I haven't been to the Atlanta Zoo...
We love the zoo! We bought the annual membership and we can go anytime anyway we want. Definitely check out the Atlanta zoo. Great group of workers who really care about the animals
Some friends came to visit and wanted to go to the zoo. Sadly Covid has taken a huge toll on the zoo as well. They only allowed a certain number of people in at a time and many of the exhibits were closed. Hopefully we will return when everything is re-opened.
They have a lot to offer at a decent price. It is all outside except for the reptiles and it's a lot of walking so dress accordingly. On a busy day, parking can be really tough. Still, we had a lot of fun and I highly recommend it.
Great covid protocols. Family felt safe and enjoyed seeing all the animals
PSA...your local library has Zoo Atlanta passes - free admission for up to four people!! - if you check out and watch the 30 minute DVD. Get a library card, save yourself $125. You're welcome!!
Awesome zoo with thoughtful enclosures for the animals plus modern amenities and interactive features for guests. Gorgeous local flora too - in the spring so much is in bloom. I love the Asia section - sun bear is my heart! - and the reptile house rocks! The after-hours activities for adults, like Brew at the Zoo, are great fun too!
While the rest of the country was under below zero temperatures, I was fortunate to enjoy warmer temperatures at Zoo Atlanta. I had a glorious afternoon hanging out with some of the most interesting and entertaining animals.
Zoo Atlanta is well maintained. The animals are easy to find without the map provided.
Zoo personnel are very friendly and helpful.
Not only do they have a wealth of information to share but are ready and capable of answering questions. The zoo staff I encountered loved what they were doing, it showed in their delivery and "pet" names given to the animals they cared for.
The animals look healthy. Some appear to like human interaction...one of the exotic birds ( name forgotten)...offered me a small piece of wood. I thought I was mistaken. So when I moved over to another spot the bird followed and picked up another piece of wood and tried to offer it to me! Wow!
One of the lions came over to the glass area, laid on his/her back and rolled over with all fours in the air, head turned toward the glass as if to say, "rub my belly"! What an astounding picture that would have made had my phone not died!
The sea lions were talking and basking, owls leering at passerbys and the komodo dragon staying completely still in one spot. And let's not forget the twin sister panda bears! I could go on and on about what I witnessed.
I am considering obtaining a membership to this zoo as I plan to return in warmer months.
One word regarding the eateries, not all are open because of the time of year. That is to be expected.
Its limited and activities were lacking. You can get through the whole zoo in about 2 1/2 hrs. Theres a small park for the kids but not much in it. Above the kids park sits hang gliding (harnessed) but it costs 10 (if i remember correctly) for each child if youre a member. To go on the carousel, you have to buy tickets $3 for each or you can get a pass. The train was NOT at all entertaining for adults. My kids enjoyed it only because its a train. There is a small rock wall and a climbing apparatus (also costs extra) We all enjoyed the petting zoo, goats and sheep. They arent finished with savannah yet. Theres a splash area for little ones. The food is on the expensive side so we brought our own snacks and waters in a cooler backback.
We absolutely love the Atlanta Zoo. We've loved visiting with the animals for about 2o yr or so now. Even with all of the construction and updates it has always be such a beloved place for us to go and now it is just getting better. It looks fantastic already and I cannot wait to see what else they have in store for the animals there. The Elephants are my absolute favorite animal and I am beyond impressed with what they have done with their new enclosure. It's phenomenal. Can't wait to see what is next.
Although we got there a little later then we planned the girls enjoyed it. Most of the animals were sleeping.
Loved it because this was my first time in a few years going to a zoo and the signs were really helpful
This is the place to go in spring or autumn. It gets very hot and humid in summer. They have a new African exposition with elephants, giraffes and ostriches. Other exposures cover giant pandas, gorillas, and neat lizard and amphibians house.
One of the best zoos I have had the pleasure of visiting. I appreciate the steps they have taken to ensure public safety in regards to COVID 19.
Great sized enclosures, great animal welfare, knowledgeable staff very friendly, with convid-19 they have one way paths and great social distancing plans!
I love the Zoo, but I felt like during the pandemic wasn't the best time to go. Yes, it felt like you had the place to urself, but at the same time some exhibits were closed such as the reptile exhibit. Then we wanted the kids to participate in the petting zoo which was also closed as well. So we decided that maybe the kids could play on the playground or in the water, but surpringly that was closed as well. With everything going on in the world I get it and I can appreciate the social distancing measures that were put into place. However, I will not be back until the pandemic is over.
Loved the new Savanna they put in! Went to the sippin Safari event to see it. Great music, animals looked awesome. If this is a yearly thing, we plan to always go! very worth it
Busy but they do a good job controlling the crowd flow. Cool Savanna enclosure for the giraffes, elephants, zebra etc. Most animals can be viewed, only a couple we're not in habitat at the time of my visit. Some concessions available. Staff cleans between carousel and train rides.
Definitely managed better than 6 Flags and White Water
I am extremely confused with all these great reviews. I went on a Monday around 1pm and there was not much to do or see. All the animals were sleeping. No shows or interactions like giraffe feedings were available. I was SO disappointed. I could ve been more satisfied watching animals on tv.
Love xx Zoo Atlanta they are a great park to visit during the year. The new safari section is well worth a visit especially if you like lions, giraffes, zebras, and elephants. The new cafe in this section is not open yet bet it will have a two story view of this side of the park. Try feeding the giraffes while you visit it s an experience of a lifetime. There is much more to see beyond the safari like beautiful birds . Wonderfully hidden reptiles in enclosures. Taking a moment to sit and watch the gorillas in their park playing. The lounging and animated pandas where another favorite of mine. Simply fun. Get to the zoo today and find your favorite animals.
Get the zoo pass from your local Georgia library and your family (four people) will get in free (remember to bring your library card to the zoo because they ask to see it). Bring your own food to save even more money. The feeding events are very fun to watch, and the times are listed on the map they give you when you enter. Check the map for educational events too. The zoo is our family's favorite budget-friendly Atlanta attraction
Really enjoyed our first visit to Zoo Atlanta. It s a small zoo but very adorable. Pros.... great place to bring your children/grandchildren. Nice leisurely shaded walking paths. Cons...... parking is free but can be a challenge. Bring your own food and drink, any food or beverage here is outrageously overpriced. Can carry concealed here!
SO AWESOME!!!!!!!! The enclosures are clean and well put together. The twin pandas were very active and wrestled--- SO ADORABLE! They had gorillas, giraffes, elephants and more. The naked mole rat exhibit was especially entertaining, with little tunnels for kids to crawl into the room. All in all, awesome zoo!!!
Nice zoo and had animals that I've not seen in other zoo's. But for a zoo in such a large metropolitan area, it was kinda small. Jax zoo you can barely get through it in a day and the exhibits were much more interesting.
My family and I drove about 2 hours to get here and it was worth the time. We went on a short weekend because it closed at 1400 because of an event. My wife loved the pandas, daughter enjoyed watching the tiger, son and I liked the petting zoo. I wanted to spend a good time with my famiku before I start "hard work". Shop had a 2GB SD card for my Canon, helped with storing good memories, I would have ran out of space on my old memory disk.
Such a fun whole day activity! Tickets range around 30$ with some special discounts. I would personally advise 4 hours dedicated minimum. The last half hour, all the animals go inside fyi. My favorite section was the gorilla pen especially that there's a whole family of them! The little info placks are cute tidbits so definitely read them. Also, it's a lot of walking so be prepared. There are food trucks inside but everything closes around 4 i believe, so keep that in mind. Have fun!
Me and my daughter s first time at the zoo here in Atlanta and it was a good time. They aren t done with the safari part yet. Looking forward to that. The zoo was smaller than I imagined it would be, but still it was really interesting and a fun time. They have really cool animals and a petting zoo part where you can actually pick up a brush and brush the animals. My daughter loved that part. My favorite was the flamingos, and it was really neat to see elephants. They have many exotic birds there. I saw a purple bird. All in all a good experience.
New elephant enclosure is great. Also new area next to it for giraffes and zebras.
It was probably more to see but Covid-19 had a big role to play in my 3 stars..
The biggest complaint is that parking is rough- the lot is small, but there is plenty of street parking. Even though the lot was full, the zoo wasn't too full to enjoy everything. Most exhibits had employees available to ask questions and provide general information. We brought snacks, and there were plenty of benches to sit and take a quick break, even a few water fountains with the ability to refill a water bottle. Very stroller friendly.
Zoo was fun. Habitats are well kept and beautiful. It took about 3 hours to see the entire zoo. The panda exhibit is amazing. My family will definitely visit again. Parking was difficult. The zoo has a small lot that fills quickly. Moat of the street parking was not available due to a TV production that day. We had to just drive around and wait for someone to leave. That was stressful, but once we were parked all was good, and we enjoyed our day.
Adorable anmail this place is the best zoo i wonder wich is better Washington's zoo or Atlanta.
I'd recommend going to this zoo as early in the day as possible. The vast majority of the exhibits are outside. They have a lot of ambassadors to help answer questions about most of the animals. I found the staff very friendly and welcoming. Not a very big zoo. I especially enjoyed the panda and sloths.
