Very good experience over all. Surprised that there were a lot of shaded areas and cool zones. Which is great for those hot summer days. The food is over priced. Bring a sack lunch.

Unfortunately theres only one of each animal in most of the exhibits and they are babies. Overall, I enjoyed the zoo, still a lot more to see so I will probably return this summer and hopefully the new enhancements to Africa are complete.
Place wasn't to crowded I was able to see majority of the animals up close. One piece of advice where a hat or bring like a wet towel to keep cool because it was HOT
Fun little zoo for a date or a family fun. Not worth the price though.
I've been to both Omaha zoo and San Diego 's zoo, as well as many others and I found Zoo Atlanta to be a little sparse. They are currently renovating their African exhibits so that could be the issue, but I was able to go through it in about 3hrs. Tops.
It was nice but not all animals were out to see. The kids enjoyed it all around though.
Beautiful fun place to let the kids explore and be close with nature
I love the setup at the zoo. The appointment times were great and it was clean and comfortable.
Very nice zoo to visit. Many animals that our local zoo doesn t have (Detroit Zoo) such as Panda Bears and Elephants. Not as large as the Detroit Zoo, but nice. Very kid-oriented. I feel like the zoo maps needed to be updated, we were looking for animals and they weren t located where any of the maps said they were. (April 2018) I was quite impressed by all the bamboo! It was really fun.
Enjoyed coming. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I appreciate them having the one way gates to prevent heavy traffic flow and all the sanitation stations around. Train ride should've been free. Overall, great visit.
A good amount of the large animals were put away until they open their new habits. Also for a hot day in July they didn't have the misting stations/ fans going . Food and drinks are over priced so its best to bring your own food snacks and drinks other than that great place lots of fun things to do!
We've been members of Zoo Atlanta for 20+yrs and it just keeps getting better and better! One of the few places left that let you bring your own food/drinks, for an affordable picnic at one of their many sitting areas. We LOVE Zoo Atlanta!
Very nice and clean zoo, a lot of shade on the walkways due to trees.
I understand the whole social distancing issues, but still think the prices should reflect all that is missing during these down times. No shows, no playgrounds, minimal employee educational feedback for the childen, very limited staff in general etc.
The only additional things were at the end which were additional price points for the zoo. Naturally the kids were missing the other fun areas and wanted more, which is at an added expense. If they are not reducing the entrance to the zoo, at least include or reduce the cost for the other activities.
Very nice time with the family. Lots of social distancing and hand sanitizer stations. Bathroom were clean.
Great to see all the animals with my son. They have things arranged to make it a one way path for visitors to prevent the spread of covid. Go early so its cool outside. Theres lots of shade but other areas have no shade.
Be careful of the parking. The GPS takes you to the new parking garage which costs $10 and they tell you it is closer to the entrance which is not true. The exit is right at the old, free parking. It is an uphill climb from the exit to the new parking garage. Tough for someone disabled and tired from walking around the zoo. The zoo itself is nice but all the indoor exhibits are closed due to COVID. A bit pricey for what only takes about 2 - 2 1/2 hours to walk with the remaining open exhibits. The new parking garage has nothing telling you how to get to the zoo from the elevator, like what floor to go to to exit to the zoo. We did enjoy what we were able to see.
Alot of fun for the kids, beautiful animals, side note- there is absolutely NOWHERE inside the zoo to get a cup of coffee or even a mountain dew, if you want caffeine BRING IT WITH YOU.
This is the best zoo I've ever been to. We loved it.
Great experience. All enclosures seem clean and the animals seem well cared for. Love the reptile exhibit and the new savannah exhibit!
We love Zoo Atlanta!!! Our membership is the best! We were able to take lots of visiting friends and family throughout the year and enjoy the beautiful exhibits ALL INCLUDED in the original membership price.
Parking is the only issue. Get there RIGHT AT OPENING (9:30am) or plan to walk far from neighboring side streets. The small lot fills up fast.
You can bring strollers and your own snacks which is so nice for the picky little eaters.
Remember your kids' towels and swimsuits for the Free Splash Pad too!! Great way to get any extra energy out they could possibly have!!
Our membership has some nice "members only" perks too. They often have later night events or fun educational things that are a nice added bonus. We love the zoo!!
We had an amazing time here today the staff was great the place was clean and the flow of the park was great
Zoo Atlanta is always an awesome time! Very clean well maintained and you always learn.
Atlanta Zoo is a very much fun and exciting place to visit. It usually takes 1-2 hours to tour the whole zoo. There is also a place where you can pet animals for free. There's also a provision to play with tortoise and elephants but it's paid and need to be reserved in advance. It's a very great place to visit with children and family. This place also has many restaurants. This zoo also has Pandas which are the centre of attraction.
Always a great time at Zoo Atlanta. It's expansive, clean, and you can always see something new. Their new reptile exhibit is awesome and I'm sure the new African Savanna exhibit will be amazing as well. It's a great way to spend a couple hours or even the entire day.
I love the panda exhibit the best. The construction wasn't as bad as people said.
My daughter is absolutely love this Zoo. Her favorite is kid's carousel. The admission prices could be better but if you can get an annual family packages then it should be fine!
Amazing experienced
Lot of space for animal.Habitat , environment is in zoo for animal is excellent according which country or continent they live. Area for each animal is very large ,animal are not kept in cage, they live freely in their area.Male female and babies lives together.
I was surprised by that looks awesome,so cute, was eating sugarcane that time.
I was super excited.
This place is amazing, wonderful facility and very knowledgeable staff on hand eager to help
This place is pretty big. Took us a few hours to get through the whole place. It was really nice. Clean. The animals are great. Look well cared for.
A very small zoo. You can easily finish it in 2 hours. All the free events during the day were boring. Even with the citypass discount, it is not worth it.
The only good attraction was the panda. They were very active and close. There was no time restrictions for them.
The Covid effect lay out is amazing. Makes you tour the zoo in an orderly manner.
Great afternoon outing. They do a great job having directional signs, and markings for social distancing. Most people followed the directions, but a few didn't, so as usual like driving you have to be a defensive walker.
Though perhaps a bit smaller than I initially expected, Zoo Atlanta is undoubtedly one of my favorite zoos I ve ever been to. The exhibits feel very open, and the experience feels very immersive. Will visit again
Had a great morning at the zoo. Animals were out and about. Staff was friendly and helpful amidst ongoing pandemic protocols.
Was a great day for a trip to the Zoo. They have worked very hard on making it a more welcoming place in the last 10 years.
The trees are an amazing touch, giving lots of shade.
Amazing place to visit with family and friends lots to see and do love this place
Wildly unimpressed! Zoo Atlanta is such a well known zoo/brand I had high hopes but upon visiting it was nothing but disappointments. The exhibits were overgrown with grass/brush, the animals seemed bored, as most were by themselves despite the exact same animal in another exhibit just a few feet away. The entire zoo took us about 30 minutes and that included several minutes at each exhibit due to social distancing guidelines at the exhibits. Do yourself a favor and skip this zoo!
Great teaching opportunities scattered throughout the day! I thought this zoo was VERY well managed, but it could be SO much more. And it would be nice to have a North America exhibit. But definitely worth a visit to this zoo.
Glad I got the chance to go back last time I came I was the lil girl my mama was chasing around & now I have my 6 year old son I'm running behind tryna keep up with. Had just as much fun but to watch my baby as excited as I once was. I hope he stays lil forever
Really nice zoo! They've done a lot with the original zoo footprint. Lots of unique animals in nice habitats. The pandas alone are worth the price of admission. We could watch the twin female pandas all day. Also really enjoyed watching the lemurs and birds in the treehouse exhibit. Zookeepers are polite and helpful. We were able to get through everything twice in about 4 hours. Not a huge zoo, but they've done well with the area they have available. The food was really good and a step above most zoo cafe fare we've had at zoos all over the U. S.
We love our zoo and enjoy our family members package. However this trip we came with Hopkins Elementary. 2nd grade Ms snow's class. All of the kids really enjoyed the animals.
Pretty good, getting better all the time with new exhibits.
Great place!! If you come on a weekend be ready to park pretty far and walk. All the animals were active when we came so it was a fun experience. We would definitely come again!
This was a great zoo with plenty of room in exhibits and nice viewing areas. The carousel is very nice too. They have some amazing animals like pandas, gorillas, and orangutans. The petting zoo has gentle goats and baby doll sheep.
I seen employees cleaning/ sanitizing while I was there. No big crowds currently
Omg...this is my favorite place in the states..love love love the Atlanta zoo. The best part is you can actually feed the giraffes.
Really fun experience and really nice looking zoo with a good collection of exotic animals. We HAD to see the naked mole rats because of my son, but they were so cute. I'd recommend this zoo if you're visiting Atlanta, or living within a couple of hours. An easy half-day experience.
I spent one of the best days there with my family. They have nice food for a vegetarian like me as well which is a plus. All on all had a great time with my young son
It's a nice Zoo. It's the best to explore on days that are 80 degrees or lower. You will have a more enjoyable walk, and the Animals won't be too hot to do anything. One of my favorite aspects of Zoo Atlanta is the volume of zookeepers throughout the park. I've been to plenty of other zoos where you rarely saw a zookeeper, you would just walk around look at the animals and it was up to you to read the placards. Here there are plenty of zookeepers ready to share knowledge that they have about the animals. The food at the zoo is very expensive, as might be expected. I wish I knew for certain that the extra fare was supporting the animals, and not just gouging due to a cornered market. I recommend packing a little picnic as there are many shaded spots to sit and enjoy lunch.
Good place but not in Winter. Most of the animals were inside and not seen
Nice place, loved the pandas. Not all facilities open during the week so go during events for maximum value. Fun half day experience. Food court has vegetarian options and a good variety of food.
Be prepared to walk in the heat, most animals were easy to spot but some exhibits were closed so couldn't see all animals prices not too bad either and friendly staff!
EXCITING DAY AND THE STAFF WAS SUPERB GREAT , FANTASTIC TIME WILL BE BACK
Fantastic experience. They have adapted very well to COVID. Great exhibits and a good day out.
Took my 1 year old here for the first time and he loved it! What I appreciate about Zoo Atlanta, is even all of the staff, from the ticket counter, to those cleaning up around the park, are truly kind and exude great customer service! My son was in awe of the elephants, Meerkats, the treehouse you can walk through with live birds flying around, and the tiger! The pandas are my favorite :) It was a great family day at Zoo Atlanta!
It was, nice!.. I haven't been to the Zoo in years!
Social Distancing and Masks policy was followed!.. Even the animals kept their distance..lol..
They were trying to stay kool and they were in relaxed mode!..
I enjoyed it!
Loved the place! Super friendly and very knowledgeable staff, very COVID-safe, food is a little overpriced but you're allowed to bring in your own. High demand; though, so don't expect to be able to buy tickets for a time different than the one you wish to visit at.
So much fun. You can bring your own food which is good wen you have kids.
A great zoo. Very relaxing and a nice walk around seeing the different beasts. It can get quite warm in the summer, but there are water misting systems. The animals are in very nice enclosures that seem large and comfortable for them. Great staff.
First time visitor, and very pleased with this zoo. Lowland gorilla exhibit is second to none. I will be back.
Lots to see & do...consistently expanding. Zoo keepers are knowledgeable & friendly!
I loved this Zoo. It had the biggest reptile exhibit that I've ever seen for a zoo. I did get to see the elephants, giraffes, as well as a few other African animals fur to them getting acclimated to their new exhits/homes. Still a great zoo to go visit.
Under repairs and expanding, but still very nice. Covid 19 friendly spacing, but bring a mask or they wont let you in few places indoors.
The first time we went it was nice, but the kids were too young to enjoy it. However, on this go around they had a BLAST!! The merry go round attendant was super nice and asked what song my kids liked. We told her Baby Shark, big surprise, and I'm a Gummy Bear which she had never hear of. She looked it up and sure enough as we got on I'm a Gummy Bear came on which thrilled my kids. That was our first stop and it only got better from there.
We love this zoo! It has been about 3 years since our last visit until we went yesterday. They have made some new additions since our last trip and are continuing to make more coming in 2019!. Every staff member we encountered was very helpful and friendly. Going on a Monday it was not crowded at all. We are a family of 4 with 2 kids ages 4 and 5. They loved the train and carousel and play areas in addition to the animals. We live over 2 hours away, we can't wait to go back once the new African safari is complete! We missed seeing the giraffes. Here are some of the wonderful pictures I got on my camera during our trip.
Clean one way plenty of room. Animals are happy for the attention.
We enjoyed the Atlanta Zoo. We are from the Chicagoland area. Drink and Food prices were a little much. Gift shop was fairly priced. We we're let down due to the construction and some animals were not available to see really bummer. We got our tickets on Groupon for a discounted rate. All exhibits were spread out over the park. We love the Panda's. They have a nice petting zoo for children and also a splash park, rope obstacles and a train ride. Great for the littles.
The zoo is practicing timed ticketing to keep sufficient social distance in the zoo. And they also design a tour route to follow. Safe and enjoyable trip in the zoo. Plus, the parking is free here.
The zoo is easy to navigate through and I liked the the touch screens on all the animals. The screens made it easy to know what I was looking at and it provided other information about the animal. The zoo is also a good place for kids because there is a playground for them. Currently, the zoo is under construction for a new savannah habitat opening 2019. The new section looks interesting. However, there are not many animals in the zoo because the zoo is small and I did not care at all for their sheet of paper map for the zoo. It looks cheap and they can do much better and have pamphlets for the zoo instead of a printed map on a sheet of paper. The zoo only takes about a couple hours and that s it. I would suggest visiting in the morning for feedings and leave around noon before it gets too hot. The zoo was okay, but can be skipped if you have limited time in Atlanta and is not necessary to visit.
Love the natural habitats the elephant trainer was great. They have done a great job with social distancing
Great place to visit. Social distancing and masks are required but had an awesome time with our granddaughter. Gorilla enclosure was the best! We will be back!
Enjoyable experience....recommend attending during the week as soon as they open to avoid over crowd. Its not very large...can be viewed within 2 to 3 hours depending on how long you stay looking at each animal.
I have to say that from the aspect of not being able to travel around the country or world and seeing them in their natural environments, it's okay. The children get about 90 minutes of what appears to be excitement and anticipation but most it is disappointment from empty habitats and lengthy construction projects plus overpriced food & merchandising.
It was amazing. Made sure it was sanitary for everyone
It was so wonderful to see this beautiful facility and their conservation efforts. They are currently expanding habitats, but there is still plenty to see and enjoy.
We had a great time. The place is very crowded on the weekends. You will have a better experience if you go during the week although you may run into a field trip. We loved the panda exhibit.
Plenty of room to spread out, animals were very active. My kids love it every time, just became members. Right now with distancing measures you are put on more of a one way path with only a few variations. It's not as fun as being able to go wherever you want but it won't be forever and I get it. They are doing a great job.
Beautiful zoo. Love all the glass viewing windows. Exhibits are beautiful. Animals look amazing. Fully shaded zoo
We had a great time! They have you going one way and you can see everything. We bought a membership and we enjoy coming down to see all the animals.
Wonderful, natural and a must visit place. Neat and clean proper social distancing, you can easily spend a day
Limited viewing areas but the staff/teams here were awesome during my visit
Engaging and informative experience for my wife, son and myself.
We really enjoyed Zoo Atlanta. We had drinks, pretzels, and ice cream...all were delicious. We were able to stay busy for a good part of the day. Lots of fun things for kids! There was a food truck with the most amazing chicken strips and french fries. My biggest complaint would be parking as we had to park blocks away in a residential area and walk with a baby and toddler.
The admission times are INCORRECT.
The website and google info state that the park closes at 5:30pm. If you arrive after 4:20ish don t waste your time. We were informed after paying full admission price, they put up the animals at 4:30 . This was a spoiler to our trip to the ATL.
Map was a bit confusing to follow with the current park routing to only allow walking in one direction
