This is a very unique party store in downtown Grand Rapids located in the basement of a fabulous old building right below Z's bar. They have everything you'll need and more, the staff is always friendly and knowledgeable.
It is what it is. Gotta like it because you don't have another choice after midnight! They have all the booze you'd want.
The manager Jeff was arrogant. He is the kind of person who is a jerk and then says have a blessed day. I d go somewhere else just to avoid him.
I called to ask about an item and they answered quickly, and to top it off had a good employee.
Downtown Grand Rapids doesn't have many party stores, so we often come here after a night out to get snacks and drinks on the way home. The staff have always treated us with respect, and were more than helpful in our needs. They have a pretty big supply of everything you would need without being a full-fledged grocery store. If you're looking for more food and drinks, hit up their bar above the store - highly recommended!
Convenient location with decent selection. Sometimes you run across a crumbum or two that could learn some manners, but that's no fault of the store. 9/10 would select various items again.
I called this store to ask if they carried a certain product, and the woman who answered snapped at me that she was too busy to check for me. I work retail, and it's common sense that a customer should be given the attention and respect they deserve, regardless if they're a walk-in customer or a potential customer making an inquiry by phone. I went in late on a Saturday night, asked for a cheap bottle of tequila from the guy behind the counter and he pulled out El Jimador. I said that was fine, and he charged me $31.79 for the 750 ml bottle. I checked and the actual price of that bottle is 16.99. I m fine paying a premium for the convenient location, but nearly twice the price? I do not think the guy behind the counter was being honest, and he didn t give me a receipt. Won t be going back
Michael Buckingham sounds like a real wiener. I goto Z's almost every day (I work across the street) and love the convenience. I've never been harassed by anyone coming or going from the store. They have what I'm looking for and the employees are nice.
Just moved in the area, and this is already my go to party store. The mark-ups are a little high, but service is great and it makes sense with the location and no competition around. Spoke with Eric about different spirits and learned a lot!

Just asked for their least expensive fifth of vodka and the woman gave me a $17 bottle. I bought other stuff so I didn't question it until I looked at my receipt later. There's no way that's their cheapest. Never going back there, scam city.
Convenient if staying downtown or unable to drive. Prices are a bit steep, but that is expected when they are the only place in town open after hours. Staff is always super helpful.

Sketchy people are frequently out front aggressively pan-handling for money, and management is both contemptuous towards and inattentive to customers waiting to buy things. There are better places to spend your money.
If you value your life, don't even attempt to enter this store. The entrance is at the bottom of a stairwell off the sidewalk and is surrounded by a gauntlet of alcoholics and drug addicts who won't let you in without giving them money. A shame, considering a convenience store is greatly needed in this hotel and convention district.
