Wonderful delicious hearty sandwiches. Pickles are awe inspired. My favorite is the Essex. Turkey is fresh and roasted to perfection.
Visiting from Texas... every year we come here for their delicious Latkes and lox with bagels... great everything, food.. sevice..cleanliness. one of my favorite places to visit and enjoy breakfast anywhere!
Potato pancakes and salmon were good..bagel cips wth dip that they give to every table were good and good pickle but the pastrami swch was dry and tough to chew..it was very thinly sliced but had absolutely no moisture it. There was a good amount of pastrami in it too bad we couldn't eat it. They did ask if they could give me us something else which was nice...i was dissatisfied because thats why we went...a good thing is they serve breakfast all day. Very nice waitress. They need to work on the pastrami so its tender and melts in ur mouth
This place was great, we came during peak hours so we had quite a wait before we got a table. But the food came fast after we sat down and it was all delicious! Our waitress was on point as well.
Zaftigs is my favorite place in Coolidge Corner. When I was a omnivore I love loved loved their beef stew- it cannot be beat. As a vegetarian their selection is slimmer, but still delicious. Last time I got the apple omlet and it was superb. If nothing else, I would go to this place for their bagel chips and olive cream cheese.
This place has been here since I was a kid. They make the best matso ball soup I have had anywhere. Their bacon and mashed potatoes are also great. They also make some of the best latkes I have tasted. I recommend the basic ones with apple sauce and sour cream. In summary, they make excellent comfort food. It is difficult to get a table here for breakfast on weekends, so I would usually only come on week days.
We really like their breakfast. But lunch and dinner are solid too!
This place is good! Convenient rates, large portions and the staff members are regularly friendly.
One of our favorite brunch places to sit in or order out from. Sometimes we have catered the breakfast and it was a huge hit. So joy show up here without being very hungry as there are larger portions but beware that there could easily be a line on weekends. I usually try the French toast but there is a lot worth trying o the menu. Right on the main road in Brookline.. check it out.
Rudest host of all times Harvey greeted us. I m not settling my foot in this establishment ever again. This place is so packed and there s always super long wait but really it s nothing great. Do yourself a favor and have a breakfast in a place where you can enjoy yourself.
Great place for brunch. Good meal size for a decent price. Nice ambience
Fast services, great food. Pancakes were the best I ve had in a while.
The location in Natick is better. For whatever reason the service here is always at a crawl and waiting an hour to get breakfast is painful.
Not surprised they had a line out the door, and it was worth the wait! Try the monte christo.
Yep, yes.
This is your place.
Absolutely delicious. Prepare for a wait for brunch, but lunch and dinner you can usually manage to get a table.
Great Jewish Deli.
If you want a good brunch, go here. If you are there before 9 you'll beat the rush.
I love everything about zaftigs! Especially that they serve breakfast all day long. They also have great latkes and creative options for food.
My favorite breakfast place in the hood. The wait can be a bit long on a Sunday morning though.
Basically this is a diner with a Jewish theme, complete with a large Jewish lady as a mascot (zaftig means refers to a woman being large and plump in Yiddish). Service was good and the place is decorated well. Problem is that a Jewish delicatessen is supposed to be about great food--not just large portions--above all else, and that's where they fall short. The bagel chips we were given were pretty good, and were probably the highlight of the meal. My reuben was alright but nothing special. They absolutely didn't skimp on the meat, but the grilled pumpernickel bread was the problem here. I ended up discarding it and just ate the rest of the sandwich; no clue why they wouldn't just use rye. The corned beef was decent but can't compare to the stuff you'd get in a real Jewish deli. The potato pancakes were decent. A little thick, not crisp enough, and unremarkable otherwise. My companion's eggs benedict was good though. For the price point this wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't anything special. I would never wait on line to come here, as I saw many people doing as I walked out.
Every time I eat at this place, it makes me want to come another time! They take food seriously, love the potatoes with scallions and garlic bits! Yum! Extremely busy on weekends for brunch, try and get here before 10 to be seated quickly.
Excellent service and exceptional food. Chili Mac and cheese is new and delicious
Excellent. Possibly the best corned beef I've ever had. I'm a very happy customer. Three raspberry fizz was also very tasty. I think I'll try recreating that at home!
I go here for the sandwiches -- the reuben, cuban and several spin offs are worth every penny. But you'll spend a fair amount of pennies - this place is a little on the expensive side. Love the bagel chips and dip instead of bread, and the service has always been stellar. Try it!
Great place to go, both locations are fantastic. So many options, I haven't had anything I didn't like yet and I keep trying items.
Good neighborhood place for Jewish themed food (including BLTs!). The food isn't anything special, but it's a dependable, comfortable place to go to.
My wife I and went to Zaftigs twice - enjoyed both times. Very good sandwiches, breakfast, etc. The only disappointment was I ordered my roast beef sandwich rare, came out more medium to medium-well. I was staving, so I ate it.
Ordered corned beef hash which was good but nothing special. Service was excellent
Their bagel chips and cream cheese is like the best opening for any of their meal there. Of course, food is good. The portions are slightly on the larger side, but there is no complain for the extra meal.
Great food, especially the latkes. Good vegetarian options for both breakfast/brunch and lunch.
Zadtigs is a Brookline staple for comfort food. They specialize in deli sandwiches, and I would recommend this to any corned beef or pastrami enthusiast. The latkes and knishes are also delicious, although I can't speak to how traditional they are here. My top picks for deliciousness would be the brisket chili, a roughrider omelette or monte cristo sandwich, and fresh lemonade.
Every time I am near Coolidge Corner it is a must stop at Zaftigs! The customers are a vibrant community of all ages.
Great delicatessen located in Brookline MA. Whenever we go to Boston we stop in for a meal.
Always a wait but mostly worth it. Can't beat the all day breakfast. I miss the bagel chips they'd give customers here. Servers can be forgetful and fail the coffee refill test.
Closest thing you can get to a new York Jewish deli. The Ruben with potato salad did not disappoint. The house made raspberry lime soda is phenomenal. Breakfast is served all day and the menu is 3 full pages. Really something for everyone.
The food is good, but never ever order from them on grubhub. For whatever reason their driver's are consistently late in delivering food. It happened once and I wrote it off as a fluke. It happened a second time and it's clear there is a deeper problem. Both times they blamed grubhub drivers. That may or may not be the case but I seem to only have this problem with them.
The food + service is always fabulous IF you can stomach long wait times especially during the weekend.
Request Roberta to be your server - she's amazing!
A bit of a wait but well worth it to enjoy wonderful food, great and speedy service. The best and thickest French toast among other varied menu items.
We had a really good brunch and the atmosphere was good.
Couldn't make a grilled cheese or patty melt correctly (just dry toast with cheese or burger patty in middle, not buttered or any attention paid to the actual construction). Staff was nice. For a place that is described as busy, we were seated immediately for dinner.
So good! Definitely better for brunch than dinner, but overall the food is great! Definitely worth the wait on a Sunday morning. The potato pancakes are the bomb!
Always good service and really good food, every time. A Boston treasure among a vast absence of NY-style delis. They serve their whole menu all day, which is great. Don't question coming here, just do it!
The selections of food is very good aND tasty as always. Unfortunately once again my bad luck has won me noto one of the best waitresses. Service is slow, my coffee and water have long run dry.
Hopefully my meal will help me refocus.
I got takeout to add to our Passover and it was wonderful !!!
A perfect meal was achieved, never experienced that before, and may never again. Nothing to complain about.
Best breakfast in Brookline, maybe in greater Boston. The stuffed french toast is to die for.
Lovely staff and food here. I came for breakfast, and ordered eggs sunny side up which were cooked to perfection. Warm and friendly service with a smile. Would love to come back to try their lunch menu.
Te'imim(delicious), I've had to try this place many times to give a most sincere review. Each and every time the service has been friendly, but not great at refilling glasses of water. The food, from breakfast to brunch to lunch has been spot on and filling. Portions are fairly large and prices are fairly priced. I'd like to recommend one thing as being the best, but anything we've had has been equally wonderful. The one and only item ever ordered that I'd think twice about ordering again is the whitefish. A little on the dry side and had a few small bones in it. I'm very careful about eating my fish, someone who isn't may of had something bad happen, but don't let this review discourage you from your own opinion of it. On street parking is available as well as a parking lot across the street. By far our most favorite breakfast/ brunch place for not only traditional food, but also traditional Jewish food.
Decent food, not great on the speed or service.
I ordered 2 sandwiches for take out, and it took an astounding 30 minutes only for me to find out that the order was wrong once I got to my girlfriend's place of work. I didn't have time to check the sandwiches before I left as I was running late. One sandwich was made 15minutes before the other, and as a result it was cold and soggy by the time the other was finished being prepared.
I might consider dining-in in the future, because food is pretty good but I don't think I will be ordering lunch from here in the future.
San Francisco Joe s breakfast special is so good. Getting free matzah on Passover was great. I ve never had a dish here that I didn t love. No wonder why it s always packed.
Best matzo ball soup (might have a lot of preservative though) and potato pancake
The food is excellent and breakfast is served all day.
Fantastic service and very delicious food. I had a Rachel sandwich with coleslaw so yummy.
I feel so lucky to have found Zaftigs for some food before getting out to see my husband pass by in the Boston Marathon. It was as just blocks from the course and we felt like we had to hurry so we didn t miss him. No worries. The service was quick, friendly and our waitress got our meals just as ordered.
There was lots of activity in the restaurant-my kind of place. Not noisy, just pleasantly busy. The food was great and very reasonably priced for our budget. Their menu was very extensive. I m not big on breakfast, so I ordered lunch while the rest of the family enjoyed breakfast.
We got a cupcake to go, as it was also my husband s birthday. Our waitress wrapped it up for as carefully as if it were a newborn baby. She even added a candle! I d go out if my way to eat here again while in the Boston area. Five stars from me!
Good food but man oh man there was a wait early Saturday afternoon. This place could stand to be expanded, big time. There's certainly a demand.
Really authentic Jewish cuisine. Definitely brush up on your Yiddish before you go! Food is delicious and the menu is large. Service can occasionally be a bit slow, but otherwise a great spot.
The food is always delicious. They serve large quantities. And now with both indoor and a large outdoor patio, the place is wonderfully comfortable.
A wonderful collection of great food, well done with a Jewish flare. Potato Knish, blintzes,. Eggs over potato pancakes. Just looked great. Very crowded. But seats become readily available after not too long.
I love Zaftigs. It's down home deli cooking (if I can say that.) I an African American woman raised in Roxbury love their chopped liver and half sour pickles and sour tomatoes. Good, hearty meals and desserts.
This place never fails to impress. They serve awesome food for affordable rates, there are no long waits even when they are packed.
What? You've never been here?! Get a Reuben or the Zaftig combo, then enjoy an evening at Coolidge Corner Theatre or hit up the used book cellar of Brookline Booksmith.
I got the top post on r/soup thanks to their excellent matzo ball soup!
Mostly good food. The waiting staff didn't really have any opinions on the menu when asked, and didn't receive amazing service overall. The mac and cheese isn't very good. Some of their other menu items are a lot better.
My happy place! Everything I've had there is great, but my favorite is the Empire Benedict. The staff is very friendly too.
