A favorite for locals and visitors alike. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and comforting. Would recommend going on a weekday early evening if you want to miss the crowd; not an ideal time for most but you'll get served quickly and there's breakfast all day! Weekend brunch wait can be upwards of 30-45 min, especially if you have a party of over five or more. Highly recommend anything off the breakfast menu, especially the challah french toast. A cup of matzo ball soup will keep you warm on a cold day!

Amazing food! I have never been disappointed here. The Monte Cristo, Mac and cheese, and cheese blintz are all among my favorite choices. There's usually a wait to get in, but it's definitely worth it every time.

I love this restaurant. It is almost always busy. The food has always been good and filling. I always order half sours. This place is good for eating solo, in twosomes, in families with kids, and in groups. It has been consistently good over multiple years. You can easily reach this restaurant by mbta green C at the Coolidge Corner stop, heading north on Harvard Street about 2 blocks. It is more like 4.5 stars, because I m usually cold inside the restaurant, so half a star off.

Very impressed. Everyone's breakfast was plentiful and delicious, lots of unique specialties with our favorite the banana stuffed French toast! Line was long but was well managed and moved quickly!

If you are missing Bubbla's home cooked meals, and you want an authentic food eatery, this would be the Jewish Delicatessen to patron. $$$, street parking is tricky, so just be prepared to walk & possibly wait in line during peak times.

Zaftigs is one of my favorite places to eat in all of Boston (all of everywhere). I've never had a bad meal or service here. There's a larger number of tables, even so plan on a wait if you're going at a standard meal time.

Menu favorites:

The bagel chips (duur, of course)
The Mac n cheese
The chili
Meatloaf
And pretty much everything else.

The food was great but our waiter wasn't so fabulous. We spent more time waiting for the check and trying to pay than we did ordering, getting, and eating our food. It's like we were forgotten when it was time for us to actually pay.

Meat-heavy menu but fish eaters have some good options here. Vegetarian options consist mainly of salads, appetizers, and a couple sandwiches, and of course a variety of vegetarian-friendly breakfast options. And they serve breakfast all day. Nice! The wait staff was lovely and very accommodating. The food is good but won't blow you away. It's good, solid, hearty comfort food. They also have wine and very affordable cocktails, not particularly sophisticated but tasty, especially if you have a sweet palate. A good family joint, also good for a small to medium-sized group of friends. Call to make reservations if bringing a group.

The San Francisco Joe was really great. The waitress gave us Alex's Ugly Sauce, which is a better version of Tabasco, and great service all around. No complaints and definitely coming back in the future.

Outdoor dining area looked so cute. It was very clean. Staff observed Covid protocols with good courteous service. The food was as good as ever. I had Salmon Nicoise salad. Good thing they serve as individual take out dishes since I took some home.

Been going to Zaftigs for years. A little disappointed this time. The corned beef hash was all ground up, no little chunks, no potatoes in it, just kind of flat. The toast was super lame white wheat bread. The stuffed banana french toast was all dry around the outside, wasn't well soaked in the eggs before cooking.

Good breakfast. Maple bacon was disappointing but the banana French toast was fantastic. Service was also disappointing as we had to search out waitstaff to get clean utensils and pay the bill.

This is a go to of mine in Coolidge corner with its solid Jewish offerings. It's always busy at brunch and lunch time so expect a wait. The matzo ball soup is delicious and latkes are as big as hockey pucks. The half sour pickles that accompany large deli sandwiches are reminiscent of NYC delis. It's not strictly kosher and if you're in love with your own Jewish family recipes, you may be disappointed, but if approximation is good enough you'll leave full and happy. I love the kasha varnishkes as they can be hard to find around town. Everything is delicious, service is prompt and the place is bustling with energy. The prices are a little high but it's worth it.

I frequent this outstanding restaurant many times because I enjoy the special air that is characterizes this place. The crew is exceptionally helpful and well trained. The service is extremely quick. Needless to say, the food you get is great. I came many times and I was always joyful. The pay is modest. I highly suggest this restaurant to to all.

We love going out. Yesterday we visited this superb restaurant which friends recommended to us. We passed a lovely experience there with fine cooking and an experienced stuff and a distinguished chef. We added this fine restaurant in our phone list and we shall surely come back soon. We highly recommend.

I had high hopes but in the end was disappointed. The matzoh ball soup was good (not great) but the corned beef sandwich had A LOT to be desired. The meat was tough and hard to chew. There was quite a bit of connective tissue still in it. It needed to be steamed a few more hours. Not a place I would go back to.

Amazing. This place rules. The food is amazing and reasonably priced also. And the service is excellent. This place is worth going out of your way for and anyone going to Boston should make a point of going.

the waitress never checked on us after she gave us the food so we ran out of drinks and butter and just sat there not eating the rest of our food. then she came up to us and took the plates away without asking us if we were done. then she brought us the check and charged us extra for food we never ordered... needless to say her tip reflected this...

the food was bland and didn't have much taste. the toast was cold by the time they got it to us and they gave us half a strawberry and 2 pieces of a tasteless cantaloupe. the only good part was the potatoes that came on the side which were well cooked on the inside and crispy on the outside.

overall the place seemed to be a bit over crowded for the quality and also a bit expensive for what they gave us. wouldn't recommend it.

The tables at the patio are well spaced, recognizing social distancing. Wide variety of items in the menu and you must try the Loaded Latkes!

Be sure to finish your meal with the Banana Nut bread, served with Date Butter!

This Jewish-style (read: not kosher) deli is a favorite of everyone in the area -- mostly students and post-grad professionals. Get here early for brunch to avoid long waits (45 minutes on average) -- be sure to ask for extra bagel chips to start. If you order nothing else, get the banana-stuffed French toast -- it's legendary. Otherwise, choices on the menu will satisfy even the harshest of critics, for certain. Highlights: Empire eggs, San Francisco Joe, Potato Pancakes, Blintzes, Rueben, Pastrami & Swiss sandwich, New Yorker, Caesar salad.

Having eaten at Zaftigs a number of times over the years, it just feels like the place has gone downhill. While 4 stars would have been a stretch even at the best of times, my last dinner there a few months back was unappetizing and disappointing. I had the Grandma's brisket and it was just bad. The meat had an unpleasant texture, was not fresh at all and it tasted dodgy. The Reuben was also not up to par, which was a bummer, as my wife was specifically craving for it (and they are known for it).
In general the place feels very tired. What once was a charming local restaurant is in a desperate need to either regroup and reinvent itself or maybe call it quits.

Yummy Jewish food! My friends brought me here for dinner and we ended up getting a lot of food I haven't tried before. We ended up getting some borscht, kugel, latkes, egg cream soda, blintzes, knishes, and a hummus platter. Even better, they have complimentary bagels and cream cheese. It was a fun experience for us. The waiters are very friendly and wear shirts with fun puns on them.

I absolutely love Zaftigs, I come here as often as I can. Their fries are unbelievable and their sandwiches are extremely good. All the food is very good quality and I have always love their staff members.

Man, what a treat. Giving this place only five stars makes me regret ever giving other places five stars. So, I can't actually speak for that many things on the menu, but here's what I know: you get the banana stuffed French toast, you get a side of potato latkas, and you die happy. Just go there, do that, and thank me later.

Always the best Jewish deli in Boston. Old-country dishes like noodle kugel and cabbage rolls, generously filled sandwiches, hearty soups, amazing breakfast. Extra baked goods wait in the case to take along. Waitstaff have been on their game every time I've gone. Expect a line at busy times, but it is worth the wait.
