Great spot for early breakfast or brunch on the weekends. The wait times tend to get longer at prime brunch-time, but we were seated right away when we went around 9:30am on a Saturday morning. The breakfast menu has a variety of offerings for all kinds of appetites and palates! They have particularly good home fries. The wait staff are patient, attentive, friendly, and efficient. I definitely recommend this spot to anyone who lives in and around the Brookline area.

Yesterday we were disappointed. My GF bread was untoasted and fell apart. My sandwich was tiny. They were out of tongue and brisket. The apple sauce was thin and looked like puree and the corned beef was really gristley. This is the first experience like this we have had.

What happened here? Ordered a hot corned beef sandwich on sissel rye with a side of potato salad for lunch this has been my Zaftigs go to favorite for some years now I got it to go its always delicious brought it back to my office after the first bite I realized I needed a hacksaw to continue eating the meat was so tough and of poor quality each bite became tougher and tougher only saving grace was potato salad was decent this place is going downhill I will not be back have I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years but no more.

I came from out of town on a recommendation. The place was hopping. But service felt hurried and impersonal. And the food well.... Not up to all of the reviews. If you crave a great snadwich. Try Mike's deli just down the street. Mucho flavour. And Genuine rapport.

Honestly?

Honestly?
I've never had Jewish food before, but I swear on my soul that this is the BEST restaurant I've ever been to, no matter the culture. The food was absolutely outstanding! Our server was kind and fast with the service, and would check up whenever she realized our drinks were low or we were finished with our plates. 11/10 would come here again! Authentic, fresh, and just a joy to the tastebuds.

Made a reservation here yesterday for a party of 5. The staff was pretty welcoming and accommodating. The food was delicious and everything about the food experience was well worth a second visit in the near future.

Food is solid. Varied menu, a lot of comforting classics. Place is always packed, be prepared to wait. Both times I've been, the service left something to be desired. More curt than rude, but still could be improved.

Best Delicatessen I ve personally been to outside of NY. As soon as you walk in you ll notice the lovely decor and atmosphere. Even the tables and seating are wonderful. As soon as you re seated they give you what I d call bagel chips and home-made chive cream cheese. The service is wonderful also. Our waiter was so kind and patient as we had a little bit of trouble figuring out what we wanted to eat (Not complaining, but a very big menu!). She was keen on making sure we both had refills of fresh water and coffee as-well. Unfortunately the Iced Coffee is pretty pricey, but rightly so. It is some of the smoothest coffee I have ever had anywhere! We had tried the home-made mustard, pickles, and matzah balls. Some of the best around, definitely. Can t wait to go back.

This is soul food to me. Instead of getting bread and butter for the table to nosh on while you decide, you get bagel chips and cream cheese=heaven. I've had brunch and dinner here, and I like both equally. I can't pass up a place that has kasha on the menu...one of my all-time favorites...the desserts are also delicious. If you're going for brunch, be prepared to wait! But it is Coolidge Corner, so you won't be bored for too long :)

Zaftigs is a solid pseudo-Jewish delicatessen. Not at all kosher, but they make a mean (if a bit pricey) Ruben. Great pickles, nice, inviting decor and a serviceable waitstaff. You will wait for an hour on the weekend.

Zaftigs brought back childhood memories of going to the neighborhood deli like 2nd Ave. Deli in the City. The smells of fresh challah filled the air and was delectable. We listened to our amazing server who recommended some of the local favorites and we were blown away. The Empire Eggs were amazing as well as the Roadhouse omelet. I can say probably the best corned beef hash i have ever tasted. I recommend you to check it out for yourself and you won't be disappointed. Mazel Tov!!!

I brought my coworkers here for a staff lunch. The restaurant was nearly full, but we were able to be seated quickly. Everyone was able to find a dish they were interested in, and seemed to feel that the food was good. The portions are generous. Our waitress was friendly, but we ended up needing refills and were not able to get them because the restaurant was so busy.

I've lived in the Brighton/Brookline area for 8 years but I never had the chance to go to Zaftigs until now. I can't wait to go back - loved the Matzo Ball Soup & the New Yorker sandwich. Great food - highly recommended!

This spot is my favored. I eat in many restaurants but to this one I constantly return again and again. The crew is very friendly and the cooking they cook is so flavorful. I never miss an opportunity to have a nice meal here. I highly recommend this place.

Not that there are a lot, but it's the best Jewish deli in the Boston area to my knowledge. It would hold it's own in NYC.

A note for those who don't know what they're getting into, this is not a deli in the get-a-sandwich-and-leave sense of the word. The dining experience is more like a diner.

Get anything with pastrami or corned beef.

The bagel chips with cream cheese they give every table is a fantastic touch. Love it.

Generally quite good tasting food. They have a fairly large menu so there's likely something for everyone. I'm a fan of the roughrider omelette and their cupcakes (I'm not sure if they have it anymore). That said service is usually hit or miss. When it's good it's good, but when it's bad it can be bad (found plastic wrap in my food once). Though in all fairness I would think my bad experiences are the exception and not the rule (hence only a single star deduction).

Had an excellent Sunday brunch here! The wait for a table was incredibly long (but that is to be expected at 11:30AM on a Sunday morning), but worth the wait! I was impressed that even though the restaurant was completely full, our server was quick to get to us and able to check on us multiple times for drink refills, etc.

The chocolate chip pancakes were so sweet and delicious, the Raphel (basically thanksgiving dinner on a sandwich) was amazing, and everyone I was with also loved their food. Most plates were picked completely clean! I would definitely come back here, but probably try to come earlier before the brunch crowd.

Last week was the first time we came to that excellent restaurant. But It is definitely not the last. We enjoyed the evening very much with the efficient service, with the superb cuisine and fine drinks and with the friendly pay. We will absolutely come back again.

*Their bagel chips is the champion.
*Banana bread not bad.
*Egg Benedic for me is just so so, nothing special from the other brunch restaurant.

Overall, I would love to come back just for their bagel chips.

This is the IT place to get good food and its great kosher food. As a Jew I love this place and my non-jewish fiance loves it as well. Between the great service and the huge selection of meals from breakfast to dinner dessert. You can't go wrong. This should be on the list of places to eat if you are visiting the area or a local.
