Zachary's Chicago Pizza Inc. Review

The deep dish is bomb.com. The spinach and mushroom pizza is top tier and we usually get the chorizo pizza along with that. We also get the medium between four of us. We usually have pizza left over at the end.

The one and only. Don't waste your time with knock off's.

Great pizza. One of the best available on Oakland. they have deep dish style which is incredible. Some may feel it is too much, but those people are weak and I dont need that type of negativity in my life. You have to try this out at least once. Try the chorizo or bbq chicken

Great pizza. A little expensive, usually busy, and you'll wait a while; it's all worth it once the pie comes out.

The menu has a variety of flavors and is very delicious. If you want to have a full meal, you need to wait patiently.

Deep dish takes too long, so preorder that if you can, thin crust is awesome - their ranch and caesar dressings are also amazing

Best tasting pizza in the Bay Area, bar none, whether it is the thin crust (my favorite) or the Chicago thick crust. Their beer selection matches the pizza as well.

They are known for their Chicago deep-dish pizza and boy, it's delicious! Just thinking about it makes me want to drive up north for a pie *drool* The wait is usually long, so expect a wait or get there early!

A must is their Spinach & Mushroom (Fresh spinach, mushrooms and a blend of three cheeses)! Don't even waste your time on the other choices if it is your first time here. You'll be in heaven....even a meat eater like me can't praise enough for this delicious pie!

PS, you'll always see some College kids around from Berkeley most likely.

Awesome chicago style pizza place. Always packed and full of clients, the staff is very professional and manage the flow of customers like there is nothing to it. Very smoothly and courteous, the waiting times are not that bad considering the amount of people that come to this place to get their famous and delicious pizza. Definitely worth coming back.

The pizza at Carmel did NOT disappoint! It had a very portland feel with the food cart being on the sidewalk. It drew us in because it was close to our hotel! We ordered through yelp and it was ready when we got there!

At first I was worried that deep dish pizza will have too much crust. To my surprise deep dish here meant that pizza has a thick layer of delicious pizza stuff on top of its crust. Delizioso!

I don't make my way up to the Bay Area much, but when I do, I try to stop at Zach's. Some of the best deep dish pizza I've ever had! This place is always packed for a reason. Great food and amazing service. I also appreciate how they allow you to order your pizza while you are waiting for your table. It's very efficient. We only had to wait about 5 minutes after we sat down before our food arrived. Do expect to wait a long time for a table though. I'd recommend assuming about an hour wait. So, have a beer and relax in the waiting area. The wait will be worth it!

Zachary s is an Oakland classic. The spinach and mushroom pizza is a must-try, and it even takes good as breakfast for the next day. They also have some good vegan options, including vegan pizza.

Though the pizza is fantastic, Zachary s also excels with their atmosphere. The walls are decorated with community-made Zachary s themed posters, the staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful, and the restaurant is owned by the employees.

The pizza here is always great. Place is always busy, but service staff is very accommodating and you always leave satisfied (and full)

Incredible food and consistently friendly service. The waiters aren't always the best about filling up your glass but are otherwise really great.

The pizzas (or rather pies?) are tasty and original. They may seem expensive, but the largest ones are more than enough for two (you'll probably even bring some back home!) and you can arrange the two halves to be different. The line to get a table may be quite long though..

This is my first experience with deep dish pizza and it was absolutely amazing. Come hungry.

Deep dish mushroom and spinach add sausage......there is none better.... we were trying different combos a few years back and we asked one of the servers what would be something good to try and they suggested that..... it's pretty much the only Pizza I ever order now.....and it is good...... a tip... if you take it to go or you have leftovers make sure that there's foil between the pizza and the cardboard.....it will stick

Best Chicago stuff pizza in the bay area. Always cooked perfectly and on time. I go here at least twice a month, because it's so good. You can't beat their Chicago style pizza anywhere in the bay. Give it try and judge for yourselves.

As someone who was raised in the midwest, I can't actually recommend this deep dish pizza.

It is California-ized deep dish. No lard, less sausage, much healthier.

Pizza was delicious! However their selection of pizza's is quite bizarre and mostly unheard of combinations. You can still create your own, it just costs way more that way, even though that's the best way to make a normal pizza.
Super busy as well, service was fine, but still delicious pizza.

Great pizza hangout for the Bay Area. Currently been on a quest for quality Pizza and you have to have a placeholder for Chicago Style. This place definitely gave me the vibe of a Chicago style parlor. I took a star off, for I was sadly informed that you can only order a whole pie of Chicago style and not just a slice, which has always been an option for Chi Parlors across the country. As I was here solo, I didn t want to be wasteful, so I deferred to the alternative and it didn t meet my expectations. The crust was too hard and excessive amounts of corn starch. Now don t think I m just harping here. I can say that the Chicago Style pizza did look tasty and anticipating on going back to try those.

Only have 30 min for lunch. Called 20 min ahead of time. They said 15 min will be ready, showed up 20 min after I called, still had to wait 20 min. Thanks Zachary's

WOW.... Is all I can say about pizza here. Great and as close to Chicago pizza without being there. A little expensive but... Hey... It's a great pizza

A co-worker recommended I come here. I went by myself and got a small spinach and mushroom stuffed pizza. It tasted great. I could only finish half the pizza. Definitely don't order a small pizza if you're by yourself. Expect to wait some time for your food.

Love this place am here all the time. Crowded but vibrant atmosphere. Great beer and vibe. Delicious pizza!! Tip: if you don t have time to wait the do slices between 11:30-4? daily. Great alternative although the deep dish is the star if the show!!

Great pizza and great service. As someone who works in a service job, I also really love that they have a paragraph on their menu asking customers to be polite and not abuse the staff. Its great to see a business willing to stand behind its employees and I think it showed in the way the staff calmly handled a packed restaurant tonight.

Best Chi style pie this side of Illinois. Sometimes the crust may be a bit soggy. I find this rarely happens though. Amazing sauce here and amazing flavors.

I highly suggest trying the spinach and mushroom. Best pie they make IMO.

got there they said wait was going to be 45 min, iit ended up being 20 min. we ordered ahead of time before we got sitted. so we waited like 10 min to get our order. best pizza i ever had. full of flavor. we had the chorizo amd the special zhacary. they were so good. i will go again and waiting its worth it.

Over twenty years and it's still #1 in my book. BTW, if you've never had a stuffed slice right out of the fridge, you're missing out.

This place literally changed my life. I went here for the first time when I was around 12 years old with my parents, and I ve wanted to go back ever since. I had the chance to visit San Francisco a couple weeks ago and Zachary s was the first place I thought to go. 7 years later, and the pizza was still as amazing as I remember.

One of ou favorite pizza places. Being from Chicago, this comes very close to our Chicago favorite pizza.

Comfort food. Doesn't compare to the fancy California-Napolitan pizza places springing up these days, but there is something so satisfying about the huge piles of tomatoes. Crust ranges from "cardboard" to "unnoticeable", so don't let it sit on the cardboard long. But the crust isn't the point.

First time ever eating Chicago deep dish pizza; delish!! Only street parking and it was really, really crowded. Our waitress, Sarah, was wonderful!

Love this pizza. I know everybody likes the Chicago style deep dish but for me the thin crust is top notch. Chunks of tomato in the sauce. Excellent balance of sauce, cheese and crust. Zachary's can get very busy for peak hours of lunch and dinner. The last time I was there I got a take and bake deep dish instantly and after baking it at home it came out just like at the restaurant.

One of the legendary pizza places in the Bay area! Their stuffed crust Chicago style pizza is to die for! The place gets very crowded, so I usually get a half-baked pie to take home. They offer spinach and mushroom or pepperoni and mushroom. I'm vegetarian, so I can only vouch for the former, but I try and drop in whenever I am in town. Highly recommended!

Fun place! It maybe wasn t the best deep dish pizza in the universe, but it was still very good deep dish pizza. And it had the perfect amount of slight grunginess to make it fit into its college-town vibe.

The tomato sauce here is amazing. Despite what others say, the other deep-dish places in the Bay Area don't even come close to making sauce this good. Sweet, chunky and great with cheese. I like the stuffed mushroom and stuffed peperoni the best.

I'm from Chicago. This is the only authentic Chicago-style pizza in the Bay Area.

Damn good pizza, and the whole wheat crust beats out any other crust there. Damned packed at all times, tho. If I could, I'd give it a half-star less for that reason. I know it's a pricy venture, but they might consider expanding some day...

Don t trust a pizza place that doesn t give you free ranch.

The wait can be rather long but the pie is well worth it (and I don't even like pizza!) Love the deep dish. A meal that's a lot more than bread.

I love the pizza here but I can t eat cheese and they don t allow that option on Door Dash (no special requests ) and they don t deliver either. Still, great pizza when I feel like going out!

This is the real deal. If you're missing your stuffed spinach and mushroom pizza from chi town, get over to berkely, oakland, or san Ramon to get yourself some pizza, just like home. They sell half baked pizzas so when you travel home, you pop it it the oven for 20 min, and it's nice and fresh.
