Young America Realty Review

Darien helped me and my roomate get everything set for our apartment. He was professional and efficient and we were able to get the apartment showings and paperwork done in a timely manner. Great business.

Working with Young America was a great experience! They came to my sorority house to talk to us and answered all of my roommate and I's questions. Jen Janssen was especially great with answering my questions because we wanted a totally different location than the rest of the group and she was there 24/7 for us. I also received an awesome tumbler from YA during festival ISU!

Young america is the most awful college realty company to sign with. If you don't pay over $400 for your rent, they're maintenance employees do NOT care about your requests. It took them 6 months to come in and replace bug traps in my apartment, when we had bugs crawling around during those 6 months, also a little help with a call to the City of Normal office. They do go through a third party pest control place, who brought us mouse traps instead of bug traps when we CLEARLY said bug traps. I do understand they have other places that are of "high" emergency but when we haven't heard from them in months, nothing was being fixed, and our ceilings were chipping and falling, I believe that is a little high emergency with the conditions that I am living in. My roommate put in a request to have her closet door fixed in May of 2017, as of today, January 30th, 2018, it still is NOT fixed. We all needed our windows fixed because they wouldn't open, they fixed the three back windows but not mine, the front, during the summer, when I was the ONLY person here. Yeah they have affordable apartments, but they don't take care of them very well nor the people who live in them. FIND A DIFFERENT PLACE THROUGH A DIFFERENT COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

My son just finished his first year with a lease at 98 W Cherry, Normal with Young America and we found them to be a great company! Concerns were addressed. A window was painted shut and we were concerned about it being a problem in case of fire. They handled that immediately. The apartment had new front room furniture and several upgrades were made while he lived there--like a front room ceiling fan installed where there was not one before. Communication was very good. Always received notice of furnace checks, etc. when they would be accessing apartment. Received full security deposit back minus small amount taken out for utilities overages--which my son knew about from monthly emails YA sent to him on their utility usage. Highly recommend Young America !! Made our first renting experience a positive one!!

Being the procrastinator I am, I was in dire need of a place to live for the semester and Jay Castro helped me find an apartment just in time! Jay was super friendly and attentive when it came to answering any questions I had. I'm looking forward to signing with YA again in the near future!

I currently live in a Young America property near the ISU campus. Young America is awesome about giving tours, sharing advice on properties, and overall being very personable with their leasers. My leasing agent (Keiler) is always available to answer any of my questions. The property is very well kept and I feel like their prices are very reasonable. I definitely would recommend Young America!

I absolutely love my apartment at the Hovey Lofts! It was definitely the best apartment for the price on all of campus. I haven't had any issues with them. There employees are super helpful too! Meg helped us find the perfect apartment! She was so patient and really worked with our needs.

This is my second year with Young America and it has been a really good experience. The Young America agents are extremely professional and I think it is really cool that most of their agents are Illinois State University students. They are giving students an amazing opportunity to put tremendously useful experience on their resume. I think that goes to show how genuine Young America actually is. The prices for the houses and apartments they have to offer are super reasonable for everything that comes with the housing. I have lived in 2 different apartments through Young America and the apartments come furnished with up to date furniture. Utilities are also included. Young America is very responsive to their residences' needs. Every time I have put in a work order, they are usually there to fix what needs to be fixed within the next day or two. Young America also provides amazing deals if you decide to resign a lease or sign a lease for a different apartment provided by them for the next upcoming year.

YA was supposed to be this awesome realty company that had awesome customer service, but I cannot tell you how many times we had to argue with them on the phone to get things done. I lived in a house with 9 other girls and it was around 100 years old, which we LOVED. But YA left us with a dryer that kept catching on fire, a basement that always flooded, windows that didnt lock, and there was mold in the basement and kitchen. Lots. I personally think this company is all about the money and does not care about its residents. Also, they are VERY overpriced. Please do yourself a favor and seek housing elsewhere.

Love all the free gear Young America always gives out! Their staff is great too; very friendly and always helpful. I had Meg as my realtor when I was looking around campus for an apartment and she was the best! Very knowledgeable about the area and helped me decide on what apartment was right for me. I highly recommend Young America to anyone looking for a place to live around campus.

I had a viewing today at the new apartment complex Covington; it is so nice. Jason showed us the apartment. He showed such professionalism and knowledge whilst showing the apartment. Great experience and the best apartments on campus.

Pretty good customer service, but not great. Some days I have felt like a valued customer, while other days I have not. Some employees don't seem very enthused to be there. Usually I am given clear answers to my questions and am normally responded to quickly.

My experience with Young America has been great and the whole staff is very helpful. I would recommend signing through Young America and working with Haley!

Highly disappointed with YA. You advertise your rent includes utilities. However when the bill comes you have added a "Utility Allowance" charge monthly of $55. Do not trust what they say or what they advertise! READ your lease. You would never be able to do business like this with adults. You are taking advantage of the student's lack of leasing knowledge. Shame on you YA. I would have spoken or emailed you directly however you have no way to contact you by email and you do not return your calls.

The staff is absolutely amazing and they have an apartment for everyone! Whenever I walk in the door I am greeted with smiles and "hello's"! I love my apartment and have resigned for the next year! I would recommend Young America to anyone!

I have had nothing but a great experience with Young America. If I ever have an issue or concern they respond back almost immediately and if they do not have the answer I need at that time they always get back to me. All the maintenance workers have been respectful especially during COVID.

Young America is a great realtor to rent from.! I'm so in love with my apartment I live in a nice quiet neighborhood their very reasonable here and they have a great maintenance team as soon as they get a work order their right on it to get the job done.

The best selection of student housing in Bloomington. Very clean and well maintained properties with the best staff in town.

Don't even deserve one star. I had bed bugs from when i came in and I didn't know what I was looking for because they were so small and I lived with them for months before i could actually see them and by then I spread them to my parents house and other peoples places and they just worry about covering there own ass from a legal stand point. I don't know how the cleaning ladies didn't notice the signs or someone. But they did almost nothing besides try to get rid of it and didn't give me a place to stay and told me to live there. Who would do that? So I had to live with a friend for two months because they where terrible at getting them to go away. They didn't even clean up the bodies everywhere, until I yelled at them. Worst place ever.

I had an awesome experiencing leasing my apartment through Young America Realty. My leasing agent, Kelsey Whalen, was very helpful and very knowledgeable in helping me find the right apartment for me and get a lease signed for that apartment complex. I would definitely recommend leasing an apartment through this company!

Kelsey Whalen was very helpful and efficient the day I signed my lease. Even though the building was crazy and hectic the day of open leasing she was able to help us find our apartment and sign our lease in less than twenty minutes. I would just like to acknowledge her on doing a good job.

Young America is a great company and I love my apartment. My walls had been very damaged due to the person who was living there before me and young america was nice enough to fix them up for me! I went in the office to get my lease resigned and Melissa very very helpful and fast with getting that done.

I was looking for apartments to live in next year and was looking for an affordable place to stay in as well as a good quality apartment. I was helped by Nick Wilson and he really opened my eyes about living in these apartments. His knowledge about all the apartments helped me narrow my decision on where to live next year. Great employee and I m excited to see my options in the Young America apartments.

I ve leased through a different leasing agency all 4 of my years here at ISU, including Young America for this most recent year. In every aspect I would rate YA better than the other 3 agencies I dealt with. For instance, last semester our TV broke and we had a new one installed within the week, mostly thanks to the timeliness and helpfulness of Paige. She has helped us tremendously throughout our year here with YA, and would strongly recommend her help.

I was looking for apartments with a large group of people and Jen was great about showing us around and giving us great options for all living together! I love how Young America is always interacting with students, especially with the free sunglasses and other free merchandise!

Can't complain about this place. Maintenance usually comes out the next day when I ask for something to be fixed and haven't had any issues with the office.

VERY sneaky company. Be careful ISU students they are money hungry and that is all they care about. They will kiss ur a** trying to get you to sign with them, but once you sign with them good luck ever getting in contact with anyone like Randy or Drew. If I could give 0 stars I would. I got scammed out of $1,260 and in the end ended up with nowhere to live. I highly recommend looking into other realty companies. YA is terrible, money hungry, and in general a bunch of scammers.

Young America Realty is by far the best realty company at Illinois State University. They are professional, enthusiastic about their rental properties, and very helpful whenever I need something. I spoke with one of their employees named Brittany. Not only did Brittany answer all of my questions in a friendly manner, I could tell she cared about my apartment situation and went above and beyond to be very helpful.

I would recommend leasing agent Patrick. He is very knowledgeable and helpful with the off campus housing process. The YA staff and management is very helpful.

I ve been living in a Young America s residential townhome for almost three years now, and can honestly say it s been great! Young America is very quick to respond when we need them and they are always willing to help. The maintenance is excellent. We never have an issue, and they are always fast and efficient. All the staff I have came in contact with have also been extremely friendly and helpful! I would recommend living with Young America.

Easily the best realty company in the Bloomington-Normal area. They have great customer service and will work with the student to make sure that he/she has the best living experience possible. I lived with First Site in the past, and completely regret giving business to that company. Young America is the only place you should consider.

In the past, I had lived with First Site but this year I am living with Young America and love it!! Any maintenance issues my roommates and I have had were fixed immediately. The staff also does a great job of keeping my apartment building clean. I am especially thankful for Tara, who introduced me to Young America and helped me find a great place to live this year!

I've had a great experience with Young America. I needed something in my room to be fixed, and Olivia walked me through how to fill out a service request form! She was very helpful.

If you have any respect for your hard earned money, DO NOT RENT FROM YOUNG AMERICA! I'd rather be homeless. When we moved into our apartment, couches were broken, sub-par kitchen flooring, and there were unpainted drywall patches throughout the unit, and the place looked like it had not been cleaned in 5 years. Young America is currently trying to charge me $730+ for......you guessed it, new couches, flooring, and drywall/paint repairs. We vacuumed everything possible, washed the walls and baseboards, as well as cleaning inside and out of every cabinet and surface we could find. Young America charged us each $125 after move-out for more cleaning. The unit was in 5x better/cleaner shape than when we moved in. They are trying to suck college students dry financially and no one should allow that to happen. This is the most unethical company and stingy company in Bloomington-Normal. I'd rather be homeless. YOUNG AMERICA IS TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People who say they only care about about apartments that cost over 600$ are completly false. I thought that would be true, but the 600$/month apartment I moved into was in terrible condition compared to the cheaper apartment I rented through them a couple years ago. Ontop of that we've had maintence reports open for them to fix all the broken appliances, lights and walls for over a month. It took numerous contact attempts just for one roommate to recieve a bed. Basically the price you pay doesn't matter you still get screwed. Never take early move in either, if you do expect to have nothing fixed and possible future charges unless you take pictures of all the prior damages.

Young America is by far the worst realty company for ISU students to lease with. I counted a solid 11 TIMES that I had to call emergency maintenance services to fix my appliances. The walls are paper thin at my apartment and the facilities are terrible. Don't lease with Young America!

The staff in the YA office was so nice and helpful when it came to looking for new apartments! Our agent did so much work outside the office to help find the perfect place for me and my roommates. You can tell they really care and put a lot of hard work into finding and showing apartments!

I went to look at apartments with my boyfriend who was transferring to ISU and wasn't familiar with the area. Christian Raether did an excellent job showing us a variety of apartments to make sure my boyfriend found what he wanted. Christian was friendly, approachable, and answered all of our questions!

I was in search of an apartment at the last second for the next school year and did not think I would be able to find one. Darien Jacobs was able to help me out right away and he instantly provided me with locations that fit my criteria. This is a perfect example on why they have the best customer service out of all the realty companies around the Bloomington/Normal area. They are quick to resolve problems.

Why is Young America's logo the Liberian flag instead of the American flag?

I went into Young America the other day and Saige Anderson helped me out. I had many questions such as how the utilities are split between my roommates, when rent is due, how I can do early move in, etc. She answered every question I had. I would definitely recommend Young America to students looking for a place to live because of the helpfulness from Saige.

My daughter Taylor works for Young America Realty and she absolutely loves it! When I visited her at the office, it was such a great atmosphere and everyone there was very welcoming.

I room with Olivia Parker and she is always on top of our work orders and if we need anything done she does it right away. Also she helps everyone with Chi O with housing and is extremely knowledgable about everything young america has to offer!

My building is a bit older, but if anything is wrong it usually gets fixed pretty quickly. Always showing tenant appreciation by offering various promotions and giveaways. No complaints here!

I live at a distance, and no one ever answers the phone! I'm trying to move into the apartment they were more than happy to charge me for- but without the benefit of any sort of customer interaction! I've left 10 messages across 3 days, and never got a call back. Now I'm going to make the drive and have to hope someone is there when I get there

Young America Realty has an amazing staff that is always more than willing to answer all your questions! My service sorority recently did group signing with them and they made the process extremely easy for us and explained all the benefits we would get by signing with them. I worked closely with Kaitlan and Cara and every single time I called them they always answered my questions and had an extremely positive attitude. Cara even took us to our apartment the night we signed just to make sure we were getting what we were looking for! Everyone was so helpful and we loved working with them!

I had an issue that had to be resolved and I asked to speak with a manager. A young lady who claimed to be the manager by the name of Alllison was placed in contact with me. I am totally dissatisfied with the customer services that she provided. She was rude, many times interrupting me as I tried to explain the situation. At the end of the phone call the issue was deemed to be an error and n YA's part and this seemed to anger her more. I am still unsure of what caused the mixup because I could not tolerate her attitude. This experience has left a bad taste with me. Avoid this company at all costs.

I've been leasing with YA for the past 6mo and am so pleased with my apartment, and YA's services, that I've already signed with them for another year. Kelsey Whalen, and Kelsey Bishop were very helpful in finding me an apt close to campus that stayed within my budget! The maintenance workers are always respectful and friendly, and get the job done in a timely manner. I fully expect to stay with YA for the remainder of my time at ISU!

They will do their best to get you to sign a lease with them. And tgen, they will make sure if anything at all goes wrong that they charge you exuberant amounts of money. Not only is there a lack of transparency but good luck trying to get them to email you back if it isn't 9-5 Monday through friday.

My experience so far with YA realty has been good so far. I was taken a good care by on of their agents TARA. As soon as i got connected with her for housing she was really transparent and helpful in the whole process gave me the best options around my budget,even helped me to put in service requests to get some maintance done. If you want to get your housing done through YA i would definetly recomment TARA!!

Overcharging for terrible apartments, Would have been better to sleep out of my car for a year than staying with them

I love the fact that young America responds quickly. Even with the pandemic going on. There s a few people in the office who s been very helpful and I ve only been a resident for two weeks.

Young America is an extremely professional organization. They treat their employees very well which shows in their great customer service.

I had to pay 300 dollars for damages done before I moved in. They NEVER TRIED TO FIX THEIR FRAUDULENT WAYS! This company is a SCAM.

Terrible experience. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! First off, I'd like to say the positive. I asked for my extension on my rent, which they did by two weeks. I still paid on time, but thanks. The reason for the extension was that I had to fix my car that got damaged by some horrible, unavoidable potholes in their tinytparking lot.

Terrible service, cannot get an e-mail or call returned.

According to them, we had a "delinquent charge" on our account. We didn't learn about this apparent charge through them, but only because we are applying to other apartments and were denied due to this charge placed on our credit history without our knowledge.

Take that and the massive amount of other problems like constant cockroaches in our apartment, constantly flooding washing machine, even without any airation system, constant vandalism, busted in front doors to the complex never fixed, nd plenty other issues, they are not REMOTELY worth the headache.

I rented from Young America for 5 years. Whenever there was a problem, which there were few, Stephanie and her people jumped on it quick. I was very happy during my time with YA.

I have never had any type of problems with Young America, never talked to anyone who was rude! When I have things that need to be fixed, I call or email and they come right out! During this pandemic they have been willing to work with me a couple of times when my rent would be late! I love renting from them.

Absolutely horrible. They are money suckers. They delete and ignore maintenance requests that they don't want to deal with. I moved into an apt where the furniture was completely destroyed. I've been waiting three weeks for a usuable dresser. I am living in a room with my clothes on the floor because of this. The stove doesn't work. And my closet doors and shelves are broken as well. Rent with a company that actually cares about their tenants.

YA is very professional and has helped me a lot this year with my living arrangements and I will be using them in the future.

She was available to answer my questions at all times and her enthusiasm towards Young America's leasing locations convinced me that signing with anyone else would be crazy. My first semester with Young America has been nothing but great. Any time something needed to be fixed in my apartment I would call YA and Will Harmon would request for maintenance to come over immediately. Great service and maintenance is done extremely quick which makes living with YA so easy. They genuinely want students to be happy with their living situation.

I was helped by Haley Zwiefka the other day, and she was extremely helpful. She had great answers for every question I had and overall made my experience with Young America 1000x better.

I had a viewing recently with Young America in Bloomington and The Lodge complex is top notch (Pool and Hot Tub). Jackie showed me around and was punctual, energetic and brought a real personable feeling to the appointment. Great experience overall, highly recommended.
