Piece Hall is a great place to spend a couple of hours, shopping, eating, grabbing a coffee or just having some family time in the vast courtyard. A beautiful, historic building with lots of charm and character. Worth visiting just to enjoy that element. It contains a good, diverse selection of shops, selling a whole range of items. Also good eateries, cafes and a little bit of history thrown in. I always tend to use the Eureka car park but it's a busy road to cross if you're not quick on your feet. We'll worth a visit, especially on sunnier days to enjoy the open, safe space.

New long awaited opening of the historical center. Had a good selection of shops with better access for elderly and wheelchairs. Also a good selection of events coming up from concerts. Would recommend popping in a checking it out.

What a beautifully restored old public building - now with fascinating little shops throughout. There are heaps of shops full of gifts and other unique items as well as coffee and eating places.

We are travelling from Australia and loved our visit to Piece Hall in Hallifax.
The lolly shop is like stepping back in time & the litte ice cream shop is a must see. They have around 20 different flavors of ice cream and great choice of other small meals. The 2 ladies working there , Michelle & Lisa, are gorgeous.

See you there....

Fanstic place to visit with plenty of shops and restaurants worth every penny they spent on it .one thing they need is to not just market the piece hall as a Venu but to advertise and market the shops more as well just my opinion as a visitor.

A beautiful and tasteful effort in the conservation and preservation of a historical landmark, and a great piece of English commercial trading history. Now returned with dozens of small businesses and cafes, often holding events in the large courtyard also tastefully constructed on levels with steps and water features. Lots of seating areas to enjoy a nice coffee and to take on the sights.

Hi a group of 6 if us went to piece hall new years eve for the 2nd year. 1st year was much better this year was quite disappointing. The comedy club was good but could hear the drums going on outside. The bar in the tent was understaffed and wasn't allowed to sell bottles of wine. Staff were very good polite and efficient. The open bar outside after comedy club only had water and lager left!!!! To finish off the music was all one sort very monotonous when asked for variety we got told they'd been told what to play!!! Obviously the outside was catering for younger end. You've probably lost the various age groups if doing this next year. Finally they didn't even do auld langs ein Probably spelt wrong. After enjoying last year so much this was a disappointing experience

I've been lucky enough to have a sneak peek at the newly renovated piece hall and I'm confident it's going to be a fantastic place to visit once it re-opens on 1st August 2017. Some really beautiful shops, bars, places to eat and lots of interesting insights into the history of this magnificent building. Can't wait to be there for the re-launch. I believe it will be a really unique experience and a real asset to the town

Beautiful, and wheelchair accessible for the most part too. (Be aware of narrow door entryways to some traders though, that may make it difficult for some powered wheelchairs). Went to a gig there too, and it was amazing.

One of the peaceful places in spite of having so many shops in the hall. Its vast nd well built building. There is a museum on the ground floor which talks about the importance of the building nd why it was constructed nd what purpose it served. I just loved the place. Its unique! There are a lot of independent shops where you can buy a variety of stuffs. A definite go in Halifax very close to the station.

We was nothing but pestered by staff and the security manager..... Me and my partner when to sit in the shade against a wall.... And the Manager kept coming up and asking us to move, they do not provide seats in the shade.... Me and my partner asked for nothing but shade and then we're kicked out terrible treatment I would not advice going there it's defys the whole meaning of peace!
Not only that but there was other people sitting where we was and we were the ones being targeted!!!!!!
They also accused me and my partner of coonoodling! Which I defend because we were hugging appearently "not nice to look at!"
I would not advice anyone going there for "Peace!"

What a great shopping experience you can also take your dog provided its on a lead at all times, we found nearly all the shops & eateries were dog friendly. Have been quite a few times love it!
The history of the place is very interesting
See below how important it is to our history.

YORKSHIRE S MOST IMPORTANT SECULAR BUILDING

It is impossible to overstate the scale and importance of this trade, not just to the history of Halifax and the West Riding, but to the nation as a whole over some 800 years between the twelfth and eighteenth centuries.

When it was built, The Piece Hall was a highly visible statement of the great wealth, pride and ambition of the cloth manufacturers. Although built for trade, it also embodied the most cultured sensitivities of the Enlightenment; these bluff northern manufacturers deliberately chose a design for their building which adapted the neo-classical orders of architecture derived originally from the Romans.

From its inception, The Piece Hall was a stunning combination of commerce and culture, an icon of hard business but also a broader statement about the history, the lives and the values of its surrounding community. This fascinating mix of purpose and idealism business, arts and people, continues to influence and drive The Piece Hall s role today. A direct link back over almost a quarter of a millenium of history.

Make a date in your diary to go guys.
Christmas time at the Piece Halk is a must also!

Apparently second largest piazza in Europe, definitely the biggest in the UK it should be regarded as a national treasure. Whether it be a spot of people watching (in the Summer you can grab a superb ice cream from Blondins) a bit of shopping finding items from wonderful independent sellers who always have time for a chat and smile, or an evening meal at one of the few excellent restaurants (Elder is our favourite) there is literally a full day out.

Very well renovated, based on descriptions of what the area was like previously. Nice, interesting shops to wander in and out of. The gin place was a particular favourite of mine - but there's something for most people, really. Open air cinema here sounds good.

With lots of places to eat and loads of boutique shops on each level, this was a fun day browsing and picking up nice stuff.
Parking was not great, uphill walk to the centre so we dropped out elderly parent off before parking.

First time visiting and it's certainly the start of something great. Probably needs a few more attractions to make it a regular destination, but it is nevertheless a fantastic public space, I wish we had something like this where I live.
