Although it was a former Japanese military airfield, after the war the US military requisitioned and expanded until now. C-130 is mainly deployed and is a transportation base. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the government have long requested that the airfield be shared by the military and civilian, but this has not been realized. Opened to the public every August for two days, there are ground displays of military aircraft, store openings, and band performances. There are almost no flying exhibits. Measures such as a hat or parasol are required.

Difficult to give an opinion on the inside of the base, since my friends and I could not enter.
As a Frenchman, we must warn at least 4 weeks in advance in order to give them the time to make an inquiry about us, but since this information has only been available for 4 days, it is rather difficult to do. And even less without notice!

Landed here med-evac out of Vietnam, came back for a visit 4 years later. The Japanese are truly gracious and warm people IF one is not doing the 'Ugly American' thing! I've seen that in many places and no good ever comes of it!

I went to Yokota Base Friendship Festival for the first time. It seems that there is a very wide runway and open space and you can taste the American feeling, but it requires considerable patience and physical strength.
First of all on the day of the event, a train of long lines will be made from JR Ushihama / Kaijima Station aiming at the 5th base gate. It took 13:15, or 1 hour 45 minutes (105 minutes) that it was able to enter into the base which I arrived at the Haijima station at 11:30 for reference only to arrive in about 20 minutes by foot normally. The Although the weather was not as bad as the scorching sun, the 3-year-old baby stroller was getting into a slight heat stroke because the wind flow was bad. If you're going to an event, we recommend that you bring hydration and snacks that fill your belly.
It's surprising to find that, because there are too many visitors, you have to buy food in a long line again. It should also be noted that the out-of-stock product is occurring quite quickly. Because the venue is large, the capa itself may not be a problem, but it may be a life-and-death problem for those who have the target product or food. If you have the item you want, it is recommended that you obtain it quickly without over-confessing the amount of goods in the United States.
We left the hall around 15:00 when fatigue was accumulated, but we had to get out of the long line of people to leave the base, and one hour (60 minutes) until we finally returned to JR Station It took.
I have participated in the Yokosuka Festival held in August in the past, but Yokosuka is better for cospa in the sense of time. Yokosuka is the Navy, Yokota is the Air Force, and the type of base changes completely, but if you want to eat American food or taste the atmosphere, I would recommend Yokosuka. This is a personal experience only, just for your reference.
