Marco Island YMCA is one of the better-looking YMCAs that I've seen. They even have a brand new Youth Center building that they built just for the younger individuals on the island. As most of you know Marco Island wasn't built around younger people so this is a great place for them to go hang out in the Marco Island area. They have an open area outside basketball court where you always see people playing basketball. The main side is updated and they just had their grand reopening that's just somebody should stop in there and take a look at it it's beautiful.
Great place for your workouts. They offer lots of different exercise classes including tennis, swimming and lots of children classes. They also offer daycare and after school programs - very family oriented.
I have had nothing but issues since my son started going to the daycare at the ymca. Mostly with Kelly the director and Stephanie Pepper who is the youth director, whether it s them ignoring me, not being reachable, not returning my phone calls, or just being extremely rude. ( Stephanie especially, when she finally does contact me, I can barely even get a word in without her threatening to hang up the phone) I should have known this was going to be a terrible place for kids because when I drive by everyday during the school year, the aftercare teachers can be seen ignoring children who are crying or hurt or yelling at children on their walk from TBE to the Y. My first huge incident with the childcare was when my son got a horrific bruise on his shoulder and the staff changed their story about what happened 3 times! And ended up claiming they never saw or heard anything. Being the only childcare provider on the island that accepts childcare assistance I couldn t take him out. I called the daycare licensing place when this happened and they advised me to call the child abuse hotline. DCF did do an investigation but because they couldn t be sure what caused the bruise, there wasn t much they could do. I was told cameras would be put outside on the playground and that has yet to happen. On his first day I dropped off sunscreen and bug spray and told them he needed to have both every time he went outside, the bug spray was only about 1/4 full when I gave it to them. When I brought him to daycare one morning I had forgotten to apply bug spray at home so I went to his basket to get the one they have and it was nearly full so I opened it and smelled it and it was definitely mostly water! I asked if someone diluted his spray and Kelly responded with an attitude no, we don t do that . Clearly they do though because it definitely was not bug spray in the bottle. He also still has the same bottle of sunscreen which is still full after being there for 3 months and going outside 3 times a day. it should be pretty close to empty. Now, during the summer the children are taken out to the pool to swim and have lunch on Fridays. I let Kelly know before I even signed my son up that he would not be swimming or going near the pool and I was told that was fine.(There s a consent that has to be signed, which I did not sign!) Especially with the bruise that no one supposedly knows anything about and dropping my son off multiple times and seeing that they are way under staff to child ratio, (having too many children per staff member) there s no way my son is allowed near a pool with these people. They refuse to come up with a safe and fair accommodation for my son on Fridays and told me if I don t want him around the pool I can keep him home or find a new daycare because other parents would be outraged if their children had to stay inside because of mine . I don t take my child to daycare for the fun of it, he goes because I have work and have school. This daycare has caused me a serious inconvenience and they are refusing to prorate me for Fridays, even though they re not willing to come up with a safe and fair accommodation for my son on Fridays. Because I have expressed my concern about my sons safety, they have kicked him out and given me less than a weeks notice. It s a shame a parent can t protect their child without their child being kicked out of daycare, instead of providing an alternative option for him for 2 hours out of the day.
Been a member for 10 years and they have done nothing to update equipment for people who lift weights. They only accommodate to people who use the treadmill. Make sure you read the cancellation policy carefully because even after you cancel they hit you with another month payment. Can't justify a $50 a month payment for that gym. Completely outdated weight equipment.
