The Snow Monkey Park is about 45 minutes walking away from the bus station. It is an easy and very enjoyable walk through a forest area before you arrive at the confine sanctuary of the snow monkeys. The little dudes seem to enjoy themselves mostly around a pool (where people in winter take the "famous" shots") with all the dynamics such a group has. The small sanctuary is a little bit disappointing, I was expecting a bigger area with differing landscapes. However, the trip here was worth it.

The experience was Great, to have so many unique creatures in such a small space and have them not interact with humans was amazing, having them just live their everyday lives and be allowed to observe is humbling

After getting off the parking lot, you can walk forty minutes to the mountain road to see the monkeys. The road is very muddy and slippery on snowy days or after snow. If the weather is hot, you can see the scene of monkeys soaking in the hot spring, otherwise most monkeys will grab their hair and drink water near the hot spring.

Look, you re there to see snow monkeys, and there are plenty of them. Easy bus ride from the train station, and a little bit of a hump up to get there but overall worth it. We didn t have snow, but to be honest, I was fine with that because it was cold enough for the monkeys to come to the springs.

I think there are no places where you can visit so close without attacking Japanese monkeys. By the way, there was almost no snow in early April when I went, and there was no monkey taking a bath, probably because of the warm climate. However, more than 90. 5 minutes of the visitors who would expect it were foreigners.

You can see nature monkeys nearby.

You can see nature monkeys nearby.
In the early spring, you can hug your baby or have a lovely scene.
You will be threatened if your child suddenly moves out of your hand or approaches. As convenience store bags are considered to have food, they are stolen, so it is good to hide or take them, but it is good to go back and eat the rice dumplings from the hot spring lodge after the library.

Lots of noise (and lots of people!) In a small space with an (artificial) pool where no monkey was bathing. Although they would have been bathing it is really doubtful if it is worth it. A documentary well done does not reflect reality.

The monkeys there are adorable. Don't wanna spoil the experience by saying too much. I hope you get lucky and go when they feed the monkeys. They weren't around when we got there but once they start feeding them, you see them all come from the hillside.

It is about a 10-minute walk from the parking lot.
Shoes are better because you walk on a slightly bad road.
There was a woman wearing heels and it seemed difficult to walk ...

And in the middle, far beyond expectations
There were a lot of monkeys!
And thanks to people getting used to it
Will come to you.
The little monkey is so cute ...
Worth to go!

Great day half day out. Pleasant walk through the forest & seeing the Monkey's at the end in the hot springs, was the highlight. We caught the bus from Nagano station, unfortunately we missed our time for the bus coming back, as we stopped for lunch.

Fortunately, the local bus to the local train station came in 5mins. This local train was another highlight, albeit it takes slightly longer back to Nagano, but we were able to see much more of the local country side for the return journey.

We didn't go in the winter but there were hundreds of monkeys!! Lovely to see them not locked up and are in the wild. We came just in time for seeing all the babies too. We stayed at Yudanaka so was not a long walk to the park however if someone wasn't keen on walking I would recommend getting the bus.

I didn t see monkey hot springs today, but the monkeys drink hot spring water ( )

I like to see how the little monkey sticks to the mother monkey. Don t rely on the monkey too close, otherwise they will rudely hold you QQ.

I went on New Year's Eve.
The parking lot is too crowded unless you go in the morning! !
Immediately after opening it was time to feed or there were few monkeys in the hot springs.

As it is not winter, monkeys do not take a bath in the hot springs.
You can go from the parking lot to Nozaru Park in about 10 minutes. In winter, there is snow so it's quite painful.
In May, there were many mother monkeys with baby monkeys, and it was fun to play with little monkeys.

If you want to visit Nagano in winter, you will want to go there once.
You will walk a little, but the value is more than enough.
The only thing you care about is not a monkey,
Are those who don't want to yield at all?
I'm seen from all over the world with LIVE cameras ...

Nice trek of about 25 mins (1.6km) to see monkeys. When we were there, the trek was fairly muddy, so wear easy to clean shoes. Seeing the monkeys in the hot springs enviroment was a great experience.

Not what I expected, but still worth the very long walk. If you go in the snow seasons it can be treacherous on a very uneven slippery track. You can buy crampons at the store just before you start up the track, but can be hard going for some people.

Basically, monkeys do not enter hot springs when they are warm. Please note that you will be disappointed if you make a mistake.
In summer, you can go from a little closer, but in winter, you have to walk from a distance. There are some cliff-like places, so it is difficult to slide down.

I went in the end of March when the temperature was about 10 degree in the afternoon. Although there were still snow piles at the side the snow monkeys didn't feel cold enough to enter the hot spring. Not the most beautiful sight but the monkeys are still cute to watch without the snow.

The bad ? Transportation. But it is worth every effort

Parking fee is 500 yen, I walked for a while, there were small monkeys on the road, and I didn't have the energy to go to Jigokudani Yaen-Koen, so I came back just to take a walk, but I enjoyed it enough. It's a little difficult to come across because the road to go is narrow.

Fantastic attraction and absolutely gorgeous in snowy winter. Takes about an hour to get there by bus from Nagano Station. The bus stop is a bit tricky to find, make sure you make enquiries beforehand at the tourist information area to find out where to go. Also line up for the bus stop soon as you can, otherwise the bus leaves once it s full and you ll need to wait for the next one. The bus getting back to Nagano station is less frequent as well, check the timetable carefully so you can plan ahead.

Disappointing. Just a few monkey there and they are no longer wild animals.
People who want to see a lot of wild monkeys should go to Shing Mun country park in Hong Kong. You will see truly wild life there.

You can walk from the Snow Monkey bus stop. Although 100% of monkey bathing can not be seen, there are many monkeys. It seems to be getting used to people, so I am moved by walking up close. Great value to come.

Not easy to get. Train. Bus. Walk. Nice 35-40 min walk. Park is not that big, just one pond with monkeys and plenty of monkeys running around. Not sure if it is good to visit in summer or when it is warm. Winter, snow, cold - best time. You will need a good lens to make shots which worth to keep and show. 200mm-300mm (35mm equivalent) would be enough. And it need to be fast. Pond is located in shadows and monkeys are moving ;) Bring some snacks for yourself, not monkeys ;) If you are Tokyo, it is a day trip which worth the time.

They are approx 2 kms of land (eye if it rains, it is very muddy) to reach a small onsen of humans and then the entrance to the park, which is really very small and has only one pool where the monkeys bathe. The road is a beauty and although the place is small, the wildlife of the monkeys is much appreciated, it is beautiful! It was totally worth it.

We went in the last week of June, the walk through the woods is awesome. The monkeys were busy with their chores not even one was bathing in the hot summer. We had excellent soba noodles in the restaurant located in the other side across the small bridge, the rice in bamboo leaves cooked in the hot spring is also very good there!

Beautiful snow covered walk through the forest. The monkeys are enticed to the pools with food so not quite the nature experience your expecting but still definitely worth it. In addition the mulled wine from the little cafe at the bottom of the trek is a great end to your hike. I would advise crampons or spikes as bits can be quite icy.

Easily spent hours at this great park. We managed to catch a feeding event and dozens of snow monkeys gathered. It was a great experience watching the monkeys play, relax, groom and care for each other. The monkeys are extremely friendly with humans and you can get pretty close to them
