If you're one of the little guys look elsewhere. WordwrightWeb is not for you.
In December of 2018 WordwrightWeb purchased Eagle Web Designs out of Myrtle Beach SC. My website was a client of EWD at the time and had been since its creation in 2004. As with most changes like this I quickly received an email from WordwrightWeb owner Michael Byrd touting his enthusiasm and excitement for working with his new customers and a promise to personally reach out with a phone call in early 2019. I guess my website wasn't important enough to warrant a call as I would not hear from WordwrightWeb for nearly 8 months. Strike 1.
After I paid my hosting bill which was supposed to be good for an entire year in January of 2019, I did not hear from WordwrightWeb again until August of 2019, at which time I was notified that I would be receiving an invoice in September - due upon receipt, of course - for the next year of hosting at nearly THREE TIMES the cost I had been paying with EWD. I would, of course, receive a credit to honor the remainder of what I had already paid back in January, a paltry 30 towards the 324 they were asking for. After I balked at this sudden increase with three months left in my hosting contract, Mr. Byrd did offer to honor the original terms of my agreement, but my confidence in WordwrightWeb and whether they valued my business was already damaged beyond repair. Strike 2.
My website - first with its original owner, and now with me - had been a client of EWD's since 2004. Over 15 years. When I informed WordwrightWeb that I would be taking my business elsewhere, the response I got was Thanks for letting us know. Not sorry to lose you, not are you sure we can't convince you to stay, - nothing. Just K, bye. Strike 3.
The fact that I am writing this review isn't because I feel WordwrightWeb overcharges for their services. It's because of their poor communication as well as the fact that I feel like they don't care about the little guys. They sincerely dropped the ball on communicating with me in the transition period after their purchase of EWD, tried to bait & switch me by moving me to their hosting system because "it's been 7 months" and that's a "fair and ethical" amount of time to begin charging me three times more than I d previously been paying, and then could not have cared less when I finally decided that I'd had enough of their way of doing business. I cannot in good conscience recommend their services to anyone.
