Be afraid of this camp. Be very afraid. If you want your children to be unsupervised, BULLIED, and come home with a damaged self image, then send your child to Woodward. The counselors are there to play and get their own ramp time. They couldn t care less about the protection of your kids. The directors DO NOT ABIDE BY THERE SO CALLED ZERO BULLYING TOLERANCE POLICY. It s a joke. My son was fat shamed, had sunscreen sprayed on his pillow, had his towel stolen from the shower and what did the directors do? Nothing. They pacified me all week telling me they were on top of the situation and when the week ended he moved cabins which is what he would have done anyway. My son called my crying and hiding beneath a ramp as he hid from another kid who said he was gonna kill him. It took the Woodward security 20 minutes to reach my child. My heart is racing as I replay the awful summer we had last year.
Stay far away.

Wanted to visit the Camp Woodward for years!!! Parents were not supportive of skateboarding so visiting Woodward was never an option until becoming an adult. So when I moved to Pennsylvania for work I immediately contacted Woodward to see how I could come visit with a day pass or something. I was extremely disappointed to find out that it would never be an option. A little disappointed that because someone is 20 years old, has the money and the free will to finally visit there, that they cannot. Now that I'm back in Michigan I went to visit the Kzoo Skate Zoo where I used to hang out, guess what?! They allow people over 18 years old to skate there. Come on Woodward...

Sitting in the urgent care with my daughter because the medical staff failed to act and care for her injuries. They brushed it off as scratches and bruises but it was more than that waiting for the results of her xray now. Something that should have been done by Woodward medical staff. How can you disregard a swollen leg and ankle let her limp all over the camp in pain and not even help her with her bags on the last day. My daughter cried at night in pain and no one helped her. She had to ask the camper to help her get help. They never exams her never documented never dis an xray. Never again will I send any of my kids there. Not safe for kids. A kid fell from the ramp and passed out and all they did was shine a light I his eyes. That was not enough. Shame on the staff members there for not care for the children the way they should. Minors in the hands of inexperienced people. Shame on them.

My not won't stop talking about his two weeks here. Good kids in his group 9-12 year olds. No bullies. Lots to do. I wish the instruction was more regimented. You have to ask the instructor to help you with a move. I'd prefer they just introduce a few new ones everyday. As beginners they could all use the practice even if they know the move already.

Woodward has been somewhere we've gone for 6 years now, and it has been 5 stars every time. If your son or daughter is interested in action sports at all this is 100 percent worth it. I can't recommend this place enough. They also have a program where the parents can work there the week the child does and it can save 300 dollars per parent, great deals!

NO SUPERVISION FOR 8+ HOURS!!!! My daughter went ...

NO SUPERVISION FOR 8+ HOURS!!!! My daughter went to this camp (in PA) and I volunteered and was on campus with her. I was astonished that my daughter had ONE mandatory gymnastics workout in the morning, and then was free afterwards until curfew at 10pm! That's right, she didn't have to be anywhere and NO counselor was in charge of where ANY of the gymnastics kids were at any point. This is true if your daughter or son is 9 years old or 17 years old.

While they had the "boys" side and the "girls" side of camp, the ropes course (about half mile walk and in the woods) was a long walk off the woods where anyone could be and NO ONE know where you are. The canteen area is co-ed which is fine, but at night, kids could just go off wherever!!!! You could leave camp and come back at curfew and NO ONE would be aware you left!!!! The kids were just free to float around, hang around and go where ever they pleased with ZERO accountability. They could just go hang out at the hippy-style coffee house where the ambience is a little dark and soothing... a 13 year-old could just hang out in the corner all day with a 17 year-old.. No problem!!!

Sure, there are lots of counselors, but you only see them if you CHOOSE to go to an activity like arts and crafts. There, you will find a counselor to teach you something. But, if you choose to just float around or walk off, or meet someone in the woods, no one would know. Also, as a volunteer mom, I was just appalled at what I saw.. many of the BMX teens (older ones) literally circling the tables of 12-13 year olds joking about "young meat." Also, kids would just come in and get their little cocktail of drinks (Red Bull + Gatoraide + the wonderful Juleps), down them and go off... BTW, the driving moms were busy... several had to take kids to the hospital in the middle of the night.. by middle I mean 3am trips to the ER. What's that about!!!!!!!

Seriously!!! If you plan to send your child there, call them and ask how they account for the kids throughout the day. There was not a SINGLE check in for my daughter after her morning workout until curfew!!!!! She was only 10 years old !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I drove in and out of the camp several times a day and NO one would have known if I had taken her off campus!!! .. Just cut across the lawn (not in site of the office) into a car-crowded parking lot. How scary is that!!!!! Its a large facility, very open, if no one has to be anywhere and no one is in charge of any head counts, how would they even know if someone disappears!????

Other past parents: Please, ask your kids what accountability they had.. Write about it! These are things the website doesn t make clear.

My daughter had a blast here. Said she felt more "grown up" here because she got to do things on her own like goto breakfast. Seems well put together. Too bad it's so remote, but maybe that's a good thing.

I wish I had put my kids in a different camp. Woodward is likely great from a sporting perspective. But I cannot get a statement from Woodward that I can use to get reimbursed from my cafeteria plan at work. The night portion of a camp is generally not reimbursable from a cafeteria plan nor includable in the child care credit. Common stuff. Every camp knows this issue. But I am over 2 hours in this with Woodward.

giving this place 5+ stars on behalf of my kids experience. They loved it, loved the coaches, met other kids from around the country and from other countries, and actually developed their skills in tumbling. I loved that they loved it; after the 2nd day I stopped watching my phone for texting from them and went about enjoying grown up life as one without kids..

I have nothing against this camp. I do not wish to take legal action. I do not wish to disclose my identity. I just want to say something.

I was molested at camp Woodward when I was a child. I would have reported my assault back then if the camp counselors weren't emotionally distant or distracted by the large amount of campers. I am a young adult now, and I have kept this experience to myself for years.

If your child is mature enough, it is one of the best camps to go to. I still have somewhat pleasant memories of this place. If your child is not mature, they can be easily taken advantage of like how I was.

Hopefully my post will guide parents to decide whether their children are ready to go to overnight camps. My parents just wanted me to have fun, but they did not know I wasn't ready.

My apologies if I offended anyone.

(Please, if your children are under the age of 16. Do not send them here. I fear for them)

After reading other reviews, I am kind of horrified to know things haven't changed over the past 10 years. Wow...

The owners host a group of disabled veterans that I am part of every year and take us fly fishing. The location is great! Close enough to town to get something to snack on but far enough away to feel secluded.

This is a great camp for kids who are interested in learning to skate or experienced skaters. The camp is sponsored by Red Bull and they have a skate shop on premises. It's a little pricey but overall a great experience.

I don t know about camp in past years but this year (summer 2020) is horrible. The kids are unsupervised and the majority of the activities are cancelled or closed. My child did not enjoy their time at camp and doesn t want to return. All the good reviews of camp are old and there is new leadership at the camp now.
