French Embassy hosted since 1936 in the splendid Farnese Palace. One of the most beautiful Renaissance buildings in Rome. It was designed by Antonio da San Gallo the Younger, proposes an orderly design and punctuated by decorative elements incorporated in the newsstands in which the openings are inscribed, and has served as an example and model for all the other Roman noble palaces that from the mid-1500s went multiplying in the different areas of the eternal city. Particular note is given by the cornice, extremely protruding and characterized by an almost sculptural architecture, it is the work of Michelangelo, when he took over the San Gallo after his death. Unfortunately the palace houses the French embassy and this prevents us from admiring the extraordinary Sangallese interiors. Not to be missed @ gargio76

Among the many reports of war, politics and news, satire does not give anyone any discounts; from us as in other countries, including France.
This is why I personally find the cartoon by Charlie Hebdo on the earthquake in Italy to be free and offensive.
The cynicism for me does not pay, it redeems that kind of satirical journalism that often, in the past and in history more generally, has given us the essence of a cialtrona, grotesque and surreal enveloping of regimes and politicians.
So I wonder what would have happened, if we or somewhere in the world had published sarcastic cartoons about the dead in Paris or those of the editors of Charlie Hebdo?
I have a heartfelt compassion for those journalists, who are far from being our cousins and increasingly lost in an irreverent anarchist logic with no future in front of human solidarity. With a single purpose. That of making tapes and proving they exist to recover from their ancient and dangerous isolation.
Because of my indignation, I am increasingly proud to hear myself Italian.

If you have any questions, call the embassy, not the Consulate.
At the Embassy I had very quickly almost all of the information requested as part of a trip between France and Italy following the death of my cousin living in Rome and that by a very pleasant person on the phone.
I do not put 5 stars because for a perfect service, I would have appreciated that they send me documents and contacts rather than I have to look for this information on the internet.
However, avoid the Consulate.
Thanks again to the person I had on the phone at the Embassy.

Rude and rude, if they answer they are already annoyed if you ask for information with the aggravating circumstance of not giving any useful answer to be able to leave during this period for work reasons and certainly not for holidays. Really sad

I am baffled; I have been calling for information for days, finally someone answers me, I ask my question about self-certification and the gentleman who answered me tells me: "I'll put it on line with the embassy" but who I have called so far ?! Then the beauty is that after this statement the phone rang empty, no one answered me again. ALLIBITA.

Hello, I'm surprised comments. For our part the consulate was a great help on the phone and gave us the right information. The person on the other end was very nice. (Subject of the call: loss of identity card in Venice which does not have an embassy).

On 4.6 morning I call the embassy consulate to inquire about tourist access to Normandy in August.
A grumpy gentleman, who claims that one cannot enter France for tourism (?!?!) Replies, however, in broken English.
Of course, putting such characters is of no help to the image of France, nor to the resumption of its tourism.

no help, the numbers do not work, or are always busy, so you have to fend for yourself and pay hundreds and miles to get in because the embassy is not even reachable. When at the emergency number they tell you to call the number that never answers. Conclusion it is better not to have problems in Italy !! Very very very disappointed!
