Chic space with excellent views of the Chisos mountains, sunsets and stars. If you re ready for an escape, you ve come to the right place. Unwind in your private rooms, or enjoy cocktails and company with new friends in the family-style dining space. I highly recommend reading the curated guides prior to your stay, the staff certainly knows how to plan a getaway tailored to anyone s preference.

I stayed opening weekend of the hotel and had a wonderful time! Willow house is a precious and warm place to stay. The communal areas of the kitchen and den were artfully designed. The rooms themselves are very cozy and inviting! Would absolutely recommend to a friend, and say it s the only spot I will stay in again in Teralingua. Thank you so much Willow house!
Our stay at Willow House was an incredible experience. The casitas are beautiful, clean, and comfortable. The desert landscape view is unmatched. The location is perfect; only a few minutes from Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park. We really enjoyed making use of the main house amenities- stocked kitchen, amazing outdoor grilling area, and great conversation with other travelers staying on the property. We got to meet the owner (Lauren) a couple of times during our trip. She was very kind, helpful, and hospitable. We are looking forward to returning soon!
Highly recommend making the trip to Willow House! The 360 views from both my casita and the main house were absolutely breathtaking at any time of day, but the sunsets were my favorite. I d recommend pouring yourself a glass of wine or a cocktail and heading out to the floating bed to watch the sun set over the desert. Aside from the setting, Lauren s decorating skills are impeccable and made me want to redo my apartment. I could go on and on, but the sense of community you feel at WH is beyond - each guest is encouraged to cook and eat together (although you definitely don t have to) and Lauren s welcoming, yet discreet, presence really made our stay feel special.
Stayed at Willow House twice. Hands down the place to stay if you want to experience Big Bend and you re not camping the whole time. Close enough to the trails to do some serious day hiking. Even if you re just headed to Marfa and not the park, be sure and head to Willow House for a night or two. Great views with high-end accommodations without losing any of the west Texas soul and vibes. User friendly communal kitchen good for making meals and making friends. The hostesses always make the effort to ensure an enjoyable stay. Will be back often.
Visible night sky Stars, the Desert, 800 thread count bedding ... immaculate space with air conditioning and humidity controlled environment. These are just a few of the touches that made my stay Forever memorable.
The perfect place to getaway! Willow House is a stunning place that is very close to the amenities of Terlingua as well as the beauty of Big Bend. There was nothing better than sitting out by the campfire under the stars. Plus, the management is incredibly helpful with providing recommendations and was super responsive to anything that we needed or questions that we had.
I d recommend Willow House to anyone looking to explore the area. Can t wait to return sometime soon!
Willow House is pure magic. You will never unplug like you can here. If you re an artist diving into inspiration for your craft- or a business person who needs to wipe your slate- coming in a group, or coming alone- this is the place to do it. The land is full of magical energy, and so long as you respect it - it will serve you well. Lauren is an incredible human and host and i crave willow house almost every single day since we left. The rooms are comfortable and the kitchen feels like your long lost home. While the photo shoots that have happened on site are stunning, it s really more of an honest and rugged land eager to guide you back in touch with yourself. I hope it stays sacred and free of ego and agenda forever. Will be back soon.
Willow House is a special place. The casitas are small but nice and effortlessly fit into the desert landscape. The main house is designed in a way that facilitates conversation and connection. The sunrise and sunset views are some of the best I've seen in the world - it's not often you find a place with amazing views for both. I stayed here for four nights on a trip with one of my girl friends. We loved the easy access to Big Bend. We spent two days in the national park and one day in the state park. We woke up every morning for sunrise (around 6:50am this time of year) and were at the trailheads in 45 minutes. We spent every evening on property where we made our own meals in the kitchen and chatted over drinks with the property managers and other guests. The property has panoramic views of the park - there's a main fire pit with lots of seating and many other smaller private seating areas where you can easily post up for sunset. The stargazing here is also incredible. We happened to be here during the new moon and were able to get some amazing photos of the milky way. I expected to like Willow House and was surprised that it exceeded my expectations. I'm already planning to come back with my husband in the fall to tackle some of the more challenging hikes and maybe stay a little longer.
The two weeks I spent at Willow House changed my life. Unlike any landscape, any hotel (it s really not a hotel!) I ve ever experienced. I stayed in Casita 10, perfectly cozy, and also spent time in Casita 2, which is great if you need more space (I m a writer, so worked in Casita 2 with this magical view of the desert). Writing this review makes me a bit emotional, ha, that s how incredible my time at Willow House was. Lauren is a savant or making spaces that bring out the best in people and the environment. She really gives a damn about the land, and you will likely also give a damn by the time you leave. 20 mins away is a great hang spot on the Rio Grande. Starlight theater & restaurant became my go-to. If you are open to stepping outside your comfort zone, Willow House, Terlingua, and the Big Bend region will reward you like no other place in America and I ve spent years driving all over America. Book is if you feel even the slightest inclination.
If you want an absolutely incredible West Texas experience, then stay here. Great people and great views. Beautiful and clean rooms. Such an amazing one of a kind getaway!
If you appreciate nature and the desert, the Willow House can t be beat. They have managed to create a place that feels classy but not stuffy, stylish but homey, contemporary but of the place. The location s views are unbeatable and made to shine even more by the framing of one perfectly positioned window and opening after the next. The main house is a dream space: joyful music will welcome you to a fully stocked kitchen, comfortable spaces and perfect views and light. The bed and linens are comfortable and waking each morning to a stunning sunrise can t be beat. The air conditioning works well and bathroom is great too. The outdoor spaces are incredible. The art, the natural landscaping, the decor, the book selection... all amazing too. They have thought through every detail to make your stay an incredible one. It was a magical few days thanks to the beauty of the Willow House as well as the host s responsiveness. I highly recommend that you visit if you can!
Willow House was just the break we needed from our cross country family RV trip. We booked three casitas. Each of us dropped into the plush beds and cooled off after days on the road. It felt so good to unwind in such a magical, comfortable setting. The actual bones of this place are stunning, not to mention the location...but the best part was the people we met while staying there. We arrived as strangers, and left as friends. Now we are just counting the days until we can go back.
My boyfriend and I had the most incredible getaway here. The creator, Lauren, establishes a sense of community - a space ideal meeting others, sharing some sotol, and gazing at the stars around a fire. The setting is unreal, a true oasis in the desert. The rooms are sparking clean and so zen, you won t want to leave. We can t wait to return!
Willow House redefines luxury in one of the country s most remote and beautiful geographies. Turning off of FM170 into the gravel driveway, the compound emerges - the architecture echoing the sublime, unyielding nature of its desert setting. This is not to say, however, that the accommodations are as rugged as the land itself. Although the space feels found, as if it emerged from the desert naturally, it is also meticulously curated, infinitely inviting, and supremely comfortable. Willow House doesn t try to mold the desert into a typical luxury destination - its true genius lies not in perfectly appointed rooms (which it has) or over the top service (which it eschews in favor of a more subtle breed of hospitality), but in the way that the space implores you to explore the land that inspired it and leaves you eager to return.
Its location between the National and State parks makes it an ideal launching point for the adventures that bring people to the Big Bend area in the first place. While the surrounding area is light on restaurants and nightlife, the expertly appointed indoor and outdoor kitchens and thoughtful communal spaces invite you to remain on-site. Evenings at the Main House follow a certain intoxicating rhythm. Cook-sip-chat, snack-sip-chat, sit-sip-chat . . . until, before you know it, the fire dies down, the stars shine bright overhead, and a sudden awareness of the late hour encourages a few final moments of enjoyment and reflection before retreating to bed.
Willow House is a singular expression of its surrounding - exceptionally refined and somehow unadulterated. For those looking to explore Big Bend, you can do no better.
Willow House was a dream... Before our trip we had heard wonderful things from friends who had stayed and our expectations were greatly exceeded!
The property itself is beautiful. After a long day of hiking, you get to shower off and post up at one of the seating areas to watch the sun set with the view of the Santa Elena Canyon and the Chisos Mountains.
We traveled with another couple, and loved that we had our own spaces to decompress but had a common area to hang out and relax. It is the perfect set up!
this place is pure magic. everything about it! the hospitality, amenities, ambiance, people, food, surroundings, just incredible! very close to the park. i dont ever want to leave!
A stay at Willow House is a truly amazing experience. Stylish and situated in a landscape that is unmatched; a stay here is an immersive experience that most will fail at replicating.
Luxurious finishes, breathtaking views of the Chisos mountains and creative spaces which allow you to take in the West Texas desert are complemented by a management team that will bend over backwards to ensure that your stay is nothing but a first class experience beginning to end.
I m writing this review on the second stay there as a household. I can guarantee that there will be more.
A modern oasis in the rugged Terlingua desert. Willow House is conveniently located within a few minutes to all hotspots and about 25 minutes to Big Bend NP. Our room was amazing and remained cool throughout the August heat! My mattress was sublime with luxurious crisp bedding, plush towels & bathrobes. After a grueling Santa Elena hike, I spent one afternoon relaxing in the communal living area followed by dinner I cooked in the kitchen with groceries I picked up from Cottonwood general store, few minutes away. I m a foodie and just loved being able to unwind & cook whilst sipping on libations we had stored in the refrigerator earlier. The evenings get hypnotically quiet with sounds of distant coyotes and a few chirpers here and there. Grab some firewood at Cottonwood, a dusk bonfire in the back patio is a must. Happy Trails!
Willow House is the best desert retreat. A place to get away, explore the outdoors, relax and share meals with others. The details that go into this property is incredible - the soap, linens, robes to the fully stocked kitchen. I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking to explore the Big Bend Region.
Willow House was even more beautiful in person! The spaces are serene, comfortable, beautifully designed, and relaxing. Our casita smelled like a luxury spa! The views are stunning and the property has lots of different areas to sit and enjoy them. The location was perfect, with close proximity to everything in Terlingua and Big Bend NP, while also feeling remote. Our room had so many thoughtful touches to help make the weekend extra special and we can t thank the owners enough for such a magical, memorable weekend. We can t wait to come back!
The place itself is really beautiful with great spaces, views, and amenities. When issues did come up, the owner was very responsive via text.
Unfortunately, how optimal the experience is relies too highly on the respect and consideration of other guests; we arrived to a kitchen full of dirty dishes and overflowing garbage cans. Specifically, we stayed there over Memorial Day weekend during COVID times and no one was social distancing or wearing masks in common areas that are unavoidable, like the kitchen. The owners were not firm about CDC regulations and being firm with guests wearing masks in common areas, which, as a guest, was stressful, as my health and safety could be compromised.
Overall, I would book here again. I probably wouldn't until COVID is well-managed, however.
I took my team out to Willow House during coronavirus, and it was exceptional.
Willow House is a one of a kind, carefully curated set of individual casitas in the middle of the desert. The experience of staying there is the ideal mix of having a peaceful, spa-like home base with an unlimited number of outdoor activities at your fingertips (Big Bend is 5 minutes away). It is the perfect place to escape from day-to-day life in the city.
A typical day is something like: wake up and make breakfast, have a coffee, head to the park for a great hike (or stay back and read or explore the property), come back and wind down with a drink, get a shower, make dinner, and probably do a little stargazing (unparalleled out there). At the end of each day, you have this sense of feeling just complete.
The owner, Lauren, is awesome, as well and loves nothing more than answering all her guests questions :)
My husband and I are absolutely in awe over our experience at Willow House! The property itself, view their Instagram (@willowhouse_) if you haven't already, is so unique and private you will feel like you traveled outside the US!
We stayed in Casita #5, an individual Casita not attached to another with a perfect view of Big Bend National Park. Each Casita is designed to give you the privacy you want from your front porch, but it's great to meet the other visitors to pass by. The overall property has individual Casitas and then one large gathering place where you can cook, play games, and meet other visitors. The kitchen is fully stocked with every pot, pan, and seasoning so do not worry about packing these additional items. Also, we bought groceries before leaving for our trip not knowing what we would have access to once we got into Terlingua, but the local Cottonwood General was completely stocked with all food items we would have needed - some items most big grocery stores don't even offer, including GF. So, you will be ok if you need to hold off on shopping or forget a key ingredient to your meal!
Although our trip was during COVID-19, Willow House went above and beyond to make everyone visiting comfortable and safe. Before arriving, we received a schedule detailing when the main house would be closed for extra cleaning and sanitation. In addition, masks were required inside the main house. We felt completely comfortable going in to make our meals and most of our time was spent outside anyways experiencing the breathtaking views from our Casita or the hanging outdoor bed!
Lastly, the property manger on site for our visit was friendly and so helpful! Claire was so kind enough to welcome everyone who was staying and provide helpful insights into what trails and activities we should do on our visit. She really made our experience even more enjoyable! Overall, we could not recommend Willow House enough! It was the perfect blend of tranquility and adventure being so close to a National Park. We hope we find time to visit again in the future - the views, the people, are absolutely worth it!
Had the best stay at Willow House! Everything from the Aesop products to the plush robes and comfortable beds were impeccably curated. The ambiance in the main house makes you feel totally at home complete with a flawless art collection and beautifully designed interiors. It s the perfect escape...The team provided great recommendations on hikes and activities in the area as well!
Willow House is the perfect desert getaway for families, couples, or friends! I have already recommended it to several friends, and can t wait to go back myself for a second visit. The casitas themselves are thoughtfully curated and have a wonderful view of the desert from the porch - a perfect place for a sunset glass of wine or an early morning read.
The Big Bend National and State Parks are an easy drive from the hotel, in addition to the fact that the 300 acre property allows for lots of close-to-home exploration. For those who don't mind a drive, Marfa is not too far off and definitely worth a visit!
Willow House is an incredible place to explore and relax! The hotel is beautifully embedded into the landscape with plenty of well curated places to enjoy. The architecture and attention to interior and exterior details is truly amazing. The owner has curated and incredibly helpful guide on the Willow House website to ensure guests are able to maximize their visit to West Texas, which was extremely appreciated while navigating a new area!
This trip was a memorable one and Willow House if definitely on my list to visit again!
Willow House far exceeded our expectations. We heard about it from a friend who lives in Austin and immediately booked a trip. The property is incredible. Understated at first and then it starts to really show off around dusk and we started to realize what all the hype is about. The architecture and set up of each space compliments the views perfectly.
We live in Florida so we flew into El Paso and rented a car. We spent 2 nights in Marfa (Friday- Sunday) and then spent 3 nights at Willow House and then 1 night at the Gage Hotel on our last night of the trip. It was the perfect West Texas experience. Willow House was our favorite part of the trip, although we would still recommend seeing Marfa and Marathon to friends.
We were there in February. It was slightly chilly in Marfa during this time of year but it was perfect in Terlingua and Big Bend which was 20 degrees warmer.
While driving into the region, we could not believe we were in Texas. It feels like you are in an episode of West World... or on Mars. It is a wildly breathtaking landscape. Unlike anything I have ever seen. I wish I would have brought my film camera. The lighting is magical.
We ate out (Starlight Theatre and Long Draw Pizza) 2 of the nights while at Willow House and cooked on the 3rd night. We just picked up groceries at Porters in Alpine before getting to Terlingua. It was easy and we kept our small bag of groceries in the fridge in the Main House.
We stopped and got wine and alcohol at Cactus Liquors in Marfa which had a surprisingly great selection.
We would make a cocktail and watch the sunset for hours. Then we would watch the stars for hours once the sun was already set. I have never seen brighter stars. It was the most relaxed I was all year. I can't wait to come back and bring more friends with me when I do.
Willow House is a true oasis in the depths of the Texan desert. The casitas are immaculate, the views are heavenly, and the main house accommodations are plentiful. Situated near Terlingua between the National Park and State Park gives guests tons of options for activities.
I stayed at Willow House November 2019 with 3 other friends. We stayed in Casita #3 which had 2 queen beds. The room was great for our group and Casita No. 3 is directly next to the communal Main House which was nice for us. We could not have had a better experience. It is the type of place that sets the stage for whatever experience you want to create. It is a beautiful backdrop- so peaceful, serene and well designed.
It is not full service, which we enjoyed. We live in NYC so we looked forward to cooking our own meals and making cocktails at sunset. We enjoyed taking in the scenery in a relaxed atmosphere.
The weather was perfect in November, so we were able to take advantage of all outdoor areas on the property as well as the fire pit at night. (We brought our own firewood... but you can also buy some at Cottonwood general nearby). All the other guests were so friendly and generous- it was fun to meet similar travelers during our stay.
The Main House has a communal kitchen. Our group knew this beforehand and planned ahead. We knew the property was fully booked for the weekend and the kitchen would likely be crowded so we meal prepped before arriving. 3 of us flew from NYC to Austin, where we met our other friend and drove from Austin. We meal prepped in Austin and brought an extra cooler which we kept in our room. The drive was 7 1/2 hours but very enjoyable. Especially the last 5 hours- hardly any cars on the road and beautiful scenery.
Our typical day would be: -Wake up, watch sunrise and drink coffee -Do yoga on our patio (they have cool cork yoga mats available in the main house!) -Pack a lunch and head into the park -Explore the park most of the day -Shower, make cocktails and watch sunset -Cook Dinner & then gather around the fire with other guests
Needless to say, we all agreed that we will be back. Next time, we hope to have more friends join us and rent 4-5 casitas. We would also stay longer. We stayed 2 nights and ended up extending our stay. We think 4 nights would be the perfect time period.
