After a bad COVID experience with a nursery out of Illinois, I wanted to show White Flower Farms some love during the COVID pandemic. I ordered from White Flower Farms early April and received my order four weeks later. This is later than expected, but considering COVID and my three month experience with Dutch Gardens; it feels like a huge victory.

I wish I had read more reviews before ordering from WFF. I can't speak to the quality of the plants since I never received them. They were left by UPS at the door and were stolen. I looked at the UPS site and they recommend contacting the seller, which I did. Twice in about a week. While I've had great experiences with Amazon when this has happened a couple times over the years, it wasn't WFF's fault and I really didn't have much hope that I would get a refund or new plants, but I did expect a response.
UPDATE: I don't know if it was because of this post, but I got a response from WFF shortly after posting. They offered to either refund or ship in the fall. It was also explained they did not receive the first email since I replied to their delivery confirmation, which does not go to their customer service. I received a reply to my second email through their website in 24hrs.

As for those higher prices, this is also the place that will help you find the right plant for the location you are planting in and show you how to care for it so that it will look its best and come back next season.

I used to live in CT - Thompson, CT. My parents owned the Russian Bear for many, many years. My mom had gorgeous gardens- much of which she purchased from White Flower Farm.
Though I left the state 25 yrs ago, and now live in AL, my gardens are still started and embellished with flowers from you. I worked hard to have a red, white and blue flower garden. I searched the catalog to find flowers for that garden. I made a purchase of blue flowers and I surprised to receive a phone call from a young lady stating that a few of the flowers were not rated for my area. I thanked her for bringing that to my attention, she canceled that portion of my order and refunded the money.
I've bought my mom the pre-planned humming bird garden last year and am adding onto that garden this year. I often order plants from your website for gifts.
I don't often read reviews, but when I saw the moderately low rating, I was shocked. People often only leave complaints, as a society we forget to give thanks for good efforts - so I just wanted to stop and make sure I left a note of appreciation. Your staff is caring, thoughtful - I have never had anything but graciousness in dealing with White Flower Farm. I appreciate all that you have done for me over the years.

My summer snowflake viburnum arrived in good condition. After I planted them, we experienced an unusual period of extreme rainfall for several weeks / months. The plants didn't make it through no fault of White Flower Farm. White replaced the plants at no charge and they are doing well now.

Although, I was impressed with the effort of the packaging of the ferns I received I was not impressed with the price for the quality of all of the 7 ferns I ordered. Only two of the Autumn ferns were worth the price and arrived in good condition. The other 5 ferns were inferior small and in poor condition. Definately not worth the price I paid for then. I will never purchase from this company nor will I recommend them. This is an update to my review.The company did replace several ferns that I was not satisfied with so at least they have a good customer service policy. So thanks. My replacement ferns are on good condition and I appreciate ot.

Followed instructions for planting. Rarely have any difficulty with my garden but each order Ive had has been 90% duds. Ive ordered young plants, tubers, bare root, and the same issues. They just dont grow. The most recent, our dalhlias - we ordered three and only one came up. I ordered 6 coeropsis bare root and planted them in different areas and none came up. I like the selection of plants but I dont think Ill be ordering from them again.

This is the 2nd Christmas that I have been generously gifted with one of your products. After reading all the negative reviews (and I am often guilty of only reviewing when I have something to complain about), I wanted to let you know how happy I have been with both the Christmas cactus I received in 2016 and the bulb arrangement this past Christmas. I admit that I have not always watered at the appropriate time, but the bulbs did not disappoint just one month later and exceeded my expectations. Living in Montana, it s nice to have spring blooming albeit indoors in January! They will last for many years to come once transplanted outdoors. I will be making annual purchases, as a minimum, going forward.

Since I've had a difficult time locating Lantana trees (not bushes) the last couple of years, I decided to try online even though I was VERY skeptical. White Flower Farm shipped them quickly and they were boxed and packaged perfectly. The trees are very healthy. I will definitely order from White Flower Farm in the future!

We purchased a Holiday tabletop arrangement from White Flower Farm for our parents who are older thinking this will be a simple and nice way for them to bring in some pine smells and Christmas into their small house. The arrangement arrived completely disassembled as they put it, "we're not sure why you sent us a box of sticks, what are we supposed to do?" we all had a laugh as we apologized for sending the IKEA version of a Christmas present. I've been gardening for thirty years, redoing houses for twenty five, and have studied gardening as intensely as I can without formal schooling. Run, don't walk, away from White FLower Farm, unless you don't mind dead plants arriving mid way from home. Having had extraordinary success with David Austin roses over the years, and Starks Nursery for trees, both impeccably honest and reliable, with superb products, I ventured forth into new territory and ordered from White Flower Farm. I had heard they were overpriced, but had quality plants, which is often worth the extra expense. Not so with White Flower Farm. It was the worst experience I have ever had. They charge exorbitant amounts for delivery, unlike some who ship free, and then do not deliver to the house, but to your local post office. WFF (Sandy) told me that wasn't their fault, that UPS was at fault, so I spoke with a very pleasant supervisor at UPS, Tim, Who corrected that untruth. White flower farm pays less so they are aware it will not be delivered to the house. That would have cost them an extra three dollars or so. Then they blamed me.( Michelle) I should set up an account with UPS and pay extra, which I would be deliriously pleased to do, but my address is rejected as false. That is one of the peculiar quirks of living on Martha's Vineyard. I tried calling again but the administrative offices do not pick up at either number. If you call their catalogue number you will be told they will call you back. Should you miss it, they leave no message, but a number on screen that never answers when you return the call. The upshot is dead plants at the post office or arranging for another delivery ($$) to back up the first expensive delivery.
After all that the company assured me from now on they'd be delivered to the house. It is a minor extra three dollars roughly according to UPS, and I paid a lot for delivery. They again were delivered to the post office. Lovely plants, hopeless shipping.

It has been fun to find unusual varieties that aren't available locally and of such quality. The prices for these exclusive specimens has been very competitive with other top suppliers. The plants arrive at the perfect time with full planting instructions and all have thrived. Highly recommended!!

I ordered the 12 bouquets per month service to begin just before Christmas this year. The delivery was never made, although a shipping label was created so it tracked as in transit. When I called the week after Christmas they apologized and issued a new shipping order with the promise of delivery by that Friday. AGAIN! the flowers never even shipped. As insult to injury, when I called to just cancel the order, they had a very difficult time issuing the credit. Definitely a negative experience.

Nightmare. I ordered a group of plants for the summer. One after another they have been delivered in terrible condition...broken, dry as dust, etc. I try to save them to no avail. Money down the drain and time wasted waiting and then trying to revive dead plants. Never again.

They have NO guarantee unless you call telling you that it was either your neglect or highly unusual weather conditions that was the reason for your plant not growing, even though you managed to make everything else they sent you grow.

And but if you had done everything right and it wasn t unseasonably bad weather we would have been happy to refund your money

What a bunch of you know what- why say you even have a guarantee if you are not going to replace the plant or give you a refund unless the customer has to argue for their rights and then winds up getting money deducted from the one $18.00 item because you used a $10.00 coupon on a $250.00 order and then tells you that they will give you a credit, BUT when you use the credit you will have to pay shipping on the item- Didn t I already pay shipping on the item the first time and it never grew?

GO SOME PLACE ELSE -Anywhere else and save yourself a lot of aggravation and abuse and OH YES, AND MONEY!!!!!

I ordered two "Spring Flowers" gifts for Christmas for friends. Neither one has given the recipients more than 2 small white flowers. This is very disappointing. Your products did not live up to your brochure picture or claims or the price of the products.

I want to give credit and thanks to White Flower Farm for immediately answering my review by offering me a full refund. I am very happy with their response despite being unhappy with the gifts.

I have been very disappointed with the quality of their plants and packaging. We received two plant collections as a gift. The plants were so poorly packaged that they were tossed around the box in transit. When we called, White Flower Farm sent replacements.

I placed a separate order the following week. The plants arrived in bad shape. The 4 plants plus shipping totaled $70. I was so mad when I opened the box. Seriously, the $5 plants at Home Depot looked better.

I am puzzled by the good reviews they get. Maybe they are fabulous to visit in person. I cannot justify paying double what l would pay locally plus shipping. Shipping was $19 for 4 small plants.

I called them and was asked to provide a photo of the plants. I sent a photo and was told to just plant them and wait. SMH. When my husband contacted them about the previous problem, it was replaced with no questions asked. Why?

They contacted me on 5/25 after I emailed twice. One replacement plant was sent and it arrived in a damaged box with dirt spilling out. I emailed the customer service manager directly. No response except a credit for the cost of one of the 4 plants.

To recap--3 out of 4 plants failed. Price of 1 plant refunded. I am still out $19 for shipping.

Ordered a $50 Butterfly Banquet Collection in March, was to be shipped when planting conditions were "ready." That would have been April, 5 plants arrived in hot mid-May in Central NC in a half open box, with plants in disarray. Shipping was $20 so $70 invested in 5 small plants. One died almost immediately, two others are doing well, two others are trying to die despite daily TLC.
Their catalog and photos are great, but their packing & shipping skills are sub-par. Whether plants were marginal is unknown but shipping them a month too late, with no notice despite our calling to ask when they would ship (they didn't know), was verydisappointing for what we spent. Definitely not worth what it cost. As another customer said, Never Again.

Received a gift of peonies in November, after 1st frost and too late to plant. As the rep stated in a response to a previous review, the peonies need ample time to be established before winter. However, in my case customer service only offered a 5 dollar discount on a future purchase. No thanks!

I ve been a loyal White Flower Farm customer back to 2005 when I bought my first house in Bristol, Connecticut. I had a work-related relocation that brought me to Springfield, Illinois, but I continued to use White Flower Farms for superior tomato plants. I purchased for a few years with no issues and wonderful, healthy plants. NOT THIS YEAR.

WFF shipped plants during a record cold snap and when they arrived, I immediately opened the box and found plants tipped around, 4 out of the 12 plants were missing tags (and i bought various varieties) and 5 were dead on arrival with obvious signs of frost damage. I contacted customer service for replacements (I plan ahead and had my order in to WFF back in February) and was told THEY DIDN T HAVE ANY MORE STOCK. I am appalled that they SOLD EVERY SINGLE TOMATO PLANT and made no provisions for damage in transit.

And to add insult to injury, now all other San Marzano plants are OUT OF STOCK at every other mail order nursery and it is far too late to start from seed.

Since my original outreach, 4 more plants died. So over $85 for 3 plants. Thanks a lot WFF for ruining my garden this year.

To their credit, they offered me a paltry refund for the 5 frost damaged plants (didn t refund any shipping). They never responded to my follow up email.

Shame on WFF for prioritizing profits during the COVID-19 pandemic over good old fashioned customer service. I will never purchase from them again. Great way to lose a loyal, long-term customer.

To say that I am disappointed is an understatement...

To say that I am disappointed is an understatement. A year and a half ago I ordered 3 David Austin Heritage rose bushes, and they shipped just fine to my house. I followed the directions with the soak, and I planted them in the following days. The bushes began growing; the most mature plant grew the quickest followed by the medium-sized one and then the smallest. The smallest one suddenly stopped growing while the other two continued to grow. All of the branches on the smallest one wilted and then snapped right off. That was the end of that bush; I called White Flower Farm and they said they'd put me on the list to receive one the following Spring since they had sold out. I waited and didn't attempt to get another from another company.

The next Spring rolls around and I contacted White Flower Farm to see where my DA Heritage Rose was and they told me that they didn't have any in stock and that they'd refund me. I was disappointed, but I still had two other bushes. Again, this Spring they sprouted and began growing and then stopped, wilted, branches broke right off. I have never experienced this and have other bushes not too far from these. I believe I was sold a fungi-ridden bush that later affected my soil and my two other bushes. I am beyond disappointed and frustrated, and I'm awaiting customer service feedback.

I will never shiop at White Flower Farm again. Copper bird feeder from India $89 is a piece of junk and paid off the chart for shipping. Cumbersome to fill and now the screw is stripped whatever and you can't even screw the top all the way down. Vet your products before you sell. I have a cheap version the birds love and so easy to fill. Just disapointed.

Shipping is exorbitant. One customer service rep will tell you one thing and another person will tell you different shipping info. All the while waiting for the store to open to speak to someone there on the weekends and then waiting for the week when the catalog dept is open. Plants are sold out by the time you get some information. Everyone should be trained properly and on the same page. Very difficult to work with.
