I used to think this place was amazing. I recently went there, and since Omaha has strict guidelines, I wasn t initially nervous. When I arrived, no social distancing was being followed, nor common courtesy. Our waitress was not wearing a mask. Absolutely everyone else was, except our waitress. We were told we would be seated away from others, following social distance/CDC and Health Department guidelines, even asked to be seated in the sunroom (well in advanced, and even confirmed this the day before). We were seated next to tables that should have been marked off due to the 6 foot proximity distance, and the hostess was seating patrons in those seats. We were going to be charged per person (PER PERSON) a $3 fee for eating our own cake. Never have a I ever heard of that rule. There were no sanitation measures taken. The bus service would only wipe off the table, and with the same cloth and bucket of cleaner from the last table. There was no cleaning nor attempt to clean the chairs or booths.
The Douglas County Health Department has been contacted. During times of uncertainty, this was absolutely unacceptable, and honestly even if there was no pandemic, our table was still treated as an inconvenience. The food was still delicious as always, however, the service, common courtesy, the ability to follow state/local guidelines left me with a bad feeling and never wanting to return. It was very disappointing.
A great menu, and Lindsee who works there, is AMAZING!!!!!!!
We were there on Saturday am. A busy time anytime. Had a wait. Meal was good. The cinnamon bun was outstanding. We has a scrambler. Also very good. Be warned it was a meal for two unless you are a teenage boy or just did an incredibly intense workout. We shared. One complaint. The Diet Coke was bad. Mentioned it to three staff our waiter blamed it on the Omaha water. If I had been them I would have gotten a can of soda which they had our waiter was also quite good.
Looked like jail food when it came out messed the order up she asked for the daily double cheese burger. He gave her the twin burgers. Just sad excuse for food
I liked it. Croque madame was tasty and sizable. Fruit cup was probably the best I've had thus far (it had raspberries!). Espresso was good too. I'll echo other reviews stating that quality of the food isn't inline with the prices levied, but our waiter was fast and efficient, and service was quick. We won't be back on a frequent basis, but will include it on an occasional basis for our weekend breakfast outings.
Some of the best home made tasting food I've ever had. We got the honey fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, Cole slaw and roll. The potatoes were the perfect consistency and the gravy was perfect also. My daughter who doesn't like Cole slaw liked the Cole slaw here. Afterward, we stopped at the bakery in the front and stocked up on caramel rolls, macarons, whoops pie, root beer float cake, and I rice Krispie treat that seemed like it weighed about 2lb. Will definitely go back. Might get breakfast next time.
Love going to Wheat fields. I have memories with my friends.
Very good food pricey but service is great and food so yummy
Service was very kind and sat me at a table big enough for my family, even though they came a bit later from when I arrived. The waiter was very funny and nice, and took interest in getting to know my tastes in beverage and food to help me decide on a meal. He seemed very knowledgeable of the menu! Food arrived fairly quickly after we ordered and it was delicious. Overall, a great experience.
Burger was mediocre for $12, and literally 8 limp fries for a side?
Overpriced. Drove out to purchase gluten-free breads and they were tiny. Not worth it at all. :(
Fresh, friendly, homy and cozy comfort food like grandma used to made.
Reasonably priced.
I'm still full .
Always wonderful....great food and great service. The owner is there every day making sure all is wonderful. A true gem of Omaha.
Great location for breakfast! However.... 1. Service is lacking. Staff was not friendly or accommodating. No safety protocols other than masks (no gloves). Food selection was good but rather pricey. We had Ron s AM Wrap, Biscuits & Gravy and a Latte. The hotel recommended us to go here but we felt the restaurant looked tired, not well kept and the food was rather tasteless. Clean up and freshen up restaurant, get a better menu and more upbeat staff and this place will be popular or sure!
i have never once been disappointed. whenever i am craving soup...wheatfields is my go to place. brocoli cheese, italian sausage and red pepper, and jalapeno chicken are by far some of the best soups i have ever had. and the best dessert is not the strawberry wedding cake, its actually karens ooh la la cake.
I bought the gluten free wedding cake and there s no way that the cake was gluten free. It still caused me an allergic reaction. Either there was a cross-contact or they re lying to gain profit.
Love the atmosphere and the variety of the menu. I wanted something light so I got a butter bun version of the Reuben and some chicken noodle soup and it was perfect! Also, I loved buying goodies at the bakery!
i hesitated to go to Wheatfields as the last time i went it wasnt that great...and since i have a gluten allergy i watch what i order....but i was amazed to walk in and find GF cinnamon, pecan, and caramel rolls....i was in heaven! they are very good, and inexpensive....i had an Omelette that was showing new on the menu! was VERY good!!! Service was great! Thanks for reviving me as a customer! :) i do have to agree with the updates needed in the dinning room! :/
always a pleasant place to eat. That were very helpful when we asked to move to a different table fur to a smell in the area. Could have been the patio water fountain of could be ventilation in the building. Food was very good. That also accommodated muy special needs for diabetes.
If I could only eat one breakfast for the rest of my life, this would be the one! The Creme Brulee Waffle is amazing. Creamy and sweet, I didn't even use the syrup. And my hot chocolate was perfect for this cold February day. We will be back again and again!
Recently was at the downtown store and they wouldn't accommodate a food restriction. They did not seem to care that I may become sick after eating their food .If you have any kid of allergies do not try to go there and make any changes to their menu. All I needed them to do was hold the cheese. They would not budge. They said they were only the messenger and it was the owners decision . We had to leave because there was nothing on the menu I could eat without a small change.
It's good but honestly isn't great. It is an average diner with some delicious smelling pastries. If I go back, it's for the pastries and desserts
Best cheeseburger soup in the world. Also one of the best bakerys around.
Their food is beautiful looking and also soo delicious. This is definitely a must try for anyone in Omaha.
Amazingly well executed chicken and waffles, and the rueben was awesome. Great baked goods too. 1 Pacific Plaza location.
Amazing. I hadn't been there in years as I live a couple hours away. The service was exceptionally quick and food was amazing!
I love to eat breakfast here. It s a bit pricey but definitely worth it. Their cinnamon rolls are amazing!
Been here a handful of times. I love the menu. My favorite is the crab cakes Benedict. On Sunday morning come pretty early because it is real popular.
We are part of a large group with reservations for Easter. Thought I should check out their options for gluten free dietary needs. The person on the phone stated they don't have a GF menu but can try and make something that way by leaving out some ingredients. I explained that this is due to a medical reason and not by choice so it is important to know whether or not there would be cross contamination. He said, Oh, Sorry, can't do that and hung up. Needless, to say; won't be going there. This rating is strictly for customer service on the phone so hope the food is good for those who go there.
Absolutely awful. Eggs were burnt, not just overcooked, but actually burnt to the point that all it tasted like was burnt eggs. The potatoes and other ingredients in the scramble were undercooked or cold. We also order chicken and waffles, which was awful. The breading on the chicken tasted stale, and was completely soaked in grease. The chicken was cold by the time I got it, and was generally awful. Service was extremely slow, it took over 20 minutes to get a check and then pay.
On top of all that, the restaurant was filthy. Not just not clean, actually filthy. All of the wait staff had black outfits. There was not one that wasn't dirty. The tables and seating were dirty, and in need of repair or replacement. The light fixture at the table was covered in dust and cobwebs, and inside each of the glass light enclosures was 2 inches (I wish I was exagerrating) of accumulated dust and dead bugs.
I've had far better experiences at plenty of places that cost half as much.
Delish! We had a work luncheon there today and had a wonderful time!
Food is delicious, they have a large menu and wonderful tea and desserts
Awesome food. Huge selection of food on their menu. Can get busy and loud at times, but usually worth it!
Food was delicious, service was great but the key lime pie........amazing!
Service was good, food was good, but you cannot get out of the parking space as people park on the curb and totally block you.
Amazing food, amazing staff, fantastic place to eat!,
I used to love this place but the guy that helped me was not wearing a mask and certain things that should have been crisp were exceptionally gummy. I would hope all staff are considerate enough to wear masks during this public crisis.
Good service and a huge selection of food, the bakery is massive and delicious.
One of the best cafes in omaha. I like their breakfast foods and their cinnamon rolls are the best in omaha IMO.
Good food! Great service! Long wait. The long wait is only because the food is really good. The desert is really good too!
Why do people continue to recommend this place? The food is awful and the service does not make up for it.
I expected more from this place based on the reviews, but to be honest, the food just wasn't that great. Tasted like the ingredients was cheap. My spouse loved it though and we had to go back to get a large tray of pecan rolls for Thanksgiving. They were tasty, but way to sweet. I prefer baked goods that are less sweet so that I wouldn't tire of the taste.
You want a pie or dessert. Good luck topping this one.
We shop at wheat Fields for baked goods and find many great items. I recommend them.
The menu is huge. I've been here several times and I'm never disappointed but I'm also never quite as delighted as I think I will be.
We had a lovely late lunch,Quiche and French onion soup
Every time I go I get something different because everything on the menu is awesome. This Sunday I had crab cake benidict for brunch. Mmmmmm. Yummy!
And a delightful raspberry roll. Like a cinnamon roll but with raspberry sauce. I was in heaven.
Great comfort food in a relaxed atmosphere. Only complaint is that it is hard for me to pass the bakery before getting seated without buying everything in sight.
So many yummy desserts to try. The bread pudding was heavenly with the caramel glaze. Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
They were all so rude. I m so sad to see one of my favorite places not complying with the mask mandate. Definitely asking the sheriffs to come here. The staff bullies you for actually wearing a mask and they discourage their other employees from wearing them. I asked for a new waiter who was wearing a mask and the tall lady with dark hair said I could leave if I didn t want her as my waitress. So we left and will never be coming back, and will be posting on ever social media platform how awful Wheatfields really is. Never going to the one by Trader Joe s ever again. Such selfish rude hateful people.
After eating here, I have no idea why people like Wheatfield's. The food is expensive and bland. The only good thing about our experience was the nice waitress.
Wheatfields is my favorite breakfast place! They have such great options and seems to have something for everyone. Their bakery is phenomenal, and has a huge selection year round. I got a buttered pecan pie here for Thanksgiving and was SOOOOO happy, it was delicious. A small heads up, it's super busy on the weekend and they don't allow many substitutions Friday-Sunday
We catered WheatFields for my bridal shower and wedding recently. Both the brunch-themed foods we chose and the strawberry wedding cake we had at the wedding were delicious. The deliveries were on-time and everything else was done correctly. :)
The best food you'll find in Omaha. Huge menu with a wide variety of items. Amazing desserts. Hot Open Turkey Sandwich, Quiche Lorraine, EggStacy Sandwich, Strawberry Wedding Cake, Audrey Hepburn Brownies, Cheesecake and Bread Pudding are all amazing plus many others. Angel food muffin... Mmmm. If you haven't eaten here you need to. The house rules on the menu are a HUGE turn off. Really rude and in your face. Very snarky.
You have a employee named elio, he's posting video bad mouthing customers......
Worst coffee i ever tasted. My wife and i told to the waiter that the coffee tasted like water with charcoal but i guess he just ignored us.. After that everything was ok.
Great food, large menu! Great place to pick up wonderful cakes and deserts!
Subpar Food,Overheard foul language from the kitchen.
Ordered was confirmed in 5min and Drove 30min for the sticky rolls and they try and hand me regular cinnamon rolls when I show up and I tell them look at the order it says sticky rolls and get told they don t have my 6 sticky rolls will not be coming back no wonder they re going under poor poor management
Better to go during the week. No waiting in line for a delicious breakfast.
We have been to this place many times with friends and family. The food was good, but the service was not. We had great service in the past times we ve been there. Today was the first time ever for all of us to be so disappointed and upset. Our server disappeared for at least 25 minutes and trying to get our bill was like pulling teeth. All of us will not be returning to this location again.
Had the best chocolate milkshake here with the delicious meaty Oktoberfest specials! Customer service was top notch, and I was spoiled for choice on dessert, definitely coming back!!
Strawberry Wedding Cake is to die for! I also love the fried honey chicken wrap :)
It used to be delectable. Seems to be going down hill.
