Great view, isolate location and comfort environment. Affordable price with large room. A real resort in macau.

I would have given no stars if possible. Originally, I thought the hotel, while dated and in need of some good cleaning and repairs, was a decent place for the price. But, two weeks after I was there and had paid in full at check out, they charged my credit card an additional $150.77 and will not reply to my request for information and/or correction about this. I would like to say it was an error on their part, but after getting no response, I am more prone to say it was a fraudulent charge by the hotel, or one of their employees. My credit card company is not be very helpful, and have put the burden of proof on me, so they will be the next on my list of bad reviews.
The environment is elegant, facing the nature, the room is comfortable, but too remote
This hotel is located in the southernmost part of Macau. Although it was during the Spring Festival holiday, it was not very cold. The beach is also a nice spot, and the room has a balcony where you can enjoy the sea breeze and the setting sun. The hotel has a transportation bus to the Venice Hotel (reservation required), but we chose to go shopping in the Coloane area, take the Taxi in the past, take the bus back, it is also a shock! Traffic is a problem, but it is also far from the dust. There are advantages and disadvantages!
Grand Coloane is the only true resort in Macau, located at the east end of Hac Sa Beach. While billing itself as a 5 star resort, this is more of a 3+ star property that shows its age yet offers some of the lowest hotel rates in Macau for this category during off-peak days.
We recently stayed at Grand Coloane and found the property to be ok. The location is quite remote. There is a golf course and beach access immediately in front of the hotel. Sadly, Hac Sa Beach is far from impressive compared to better beaches in this region of the world. However, it is a beach and that is good enough for some. Otherwise, families looking for properties with open space for the kids to run around will find this resort a good option for stays in Macau.
The property is remotely located by local standards but is relatively well connected to the Cotai Strip (10 minutes) and important points of entry including the airport and Taipa Ferry Terminal (both 12 minutes) and the Macau Ferry Terminal (18-20 minutes) by taxi or shuttle. Public bus routes 15 and 21A stop just outside the resort entrance as well.
As for the property itself, it is fair but shows its age as well. The lobby, restaurant, outdoor area, pool and other facilities are generally nice. Not the nicest you will find if you regularly stay at resorts and certainly not up there with 5 star properties you may be familiar with. However, the grounds are comfortable and it is easy to relax at Grand Coloane Resort.
Rooms are spacious but could due with a makeover and some simple improvements. We found the bed to be very soft and comfortable and there is plenty of room for luggage. Bathroom is also large with working fixtures. Each room comes with balcony which is large and provides nice views of the beach or South China Sea. Room lighting, A/C, wifi and TV all worked fine throughout our stay.
On the flipside, coffee machine is low-quality and safe is very old and too small for modern sized laptops, bathroom toiletries are low-quality and carpeting gives the room the feel of being stuck in the 80's. These are all easy and quick fixes that could make the rooms feel much nicer at Grand Coloane Resort. In short, the rooms aren't bad but they have fallen below the standard for 3-5 star hotels in Macau.
There is a 3rd floor bar called Porto Bar. On a Saturday evening, we found it empty. The bartender advised us to go down to the Panorama Lounge for drinks instead as they only had bottles of beer there. The Panorama Lounge is comfortable. We had a round of drinks and cheese & cold cut platter. Our drinks were mediocre for what you can find at hotel lobby bars and lounges around Macau. The cheese & cold cut platter was ok.
There is a western, Chinese and Japanese restaurant at Grand Coloane as well as a good Portuguese restaurant called Miramar just outside the resort along Hac Sa Beach. These are comfortable options serving at expected resort prices. For better food and dining, guest might do better to just make way to Cotai Strip or Taipa Village where there is much wider range of good restaurants to be found.
Note: Grand Coloane Resort offers free shuttle service every 30 minutes that makes stops at the Cotai Strip, Taipa Village and the Macau Ferry Terminal. This is quite convenient for those arriving in Macau by ferry from Hong Kong as well as those who want to spend time sightseeing.
Overall, there are some good and not so good things about the Grand Coloane Resort. Low room rates during off-peak times have made this a very attractive accommodation in Macau during the past year or so. Location is remote - this could be a good or bad thing depending on what you are looking for. The property grounds are fine but not on par with what you expect of 5 star resorts in this region and the rooms could certainly use upgrading if they want to catch up to the many younger and more impressive properties that you can stay at in Macau these days.
I traveled with my mother in her 60s, so I chose the Coloan resort on the beach side of the Southern Bachelor, not on the hustle and bustle of Kota. There is no airport shuttle, but there is a shuttle to the Kota Ferry Terminal. It is 15 minutes by taxi from airport and taxi fare is about 80 Patacas. It was about 100,000 won per night, but the room was very spacious and the terrace was so good that it was included in the breakfast and I ate it really delicious. The scenery is very good, and the walkways are well in the resort. Miyamara is also a popular restaurant. It is highly recommended for those who dislike the noisy.
Amazing staffs!!
I've traveled over 20 contires for business, and Grand Coloane staffs were ine of the best zervice providers among all the places I have visited.
Breakfast also is very delicious. Room service is also great.
Locationwise, it is bit far from the ciry center, but free shuttle drops you off every 30 minutes. In 10-15 mins you can reach pretty much everywhere:)
Thanks again for the warm welcome, we had great stay.
Nice rooms and unique architecture. The pools and views were nice, but my favorite thing is the breakfast! I look forward to the morning after every time.
The sakura Japanese restaurant on the 9th floor.
If it's temporary, you'll get half a discount on sushi, but it's really like eating in Japan, and it's cheap and delicious.
There aren't many people in this store, but if they disappear, I'm worried. It's so delicious. Best recommended.
Spaceful room with sea view, have big swimming pool indoor & outdoor, but a bit far from city although with shuttle bus service. Some area is a bit out-dated. But everything is good.
Quiet hotel in quiet location. A place where you can swim for the whole day with your family, well prepared breakfast, and the Miramar restaurant right next door.
Luhuan Haitian Resort Hotel, formerly known as the Westin Macau, has decades of history. It is located in Coloane, looking at endless black sand beaches and ocean views. It is very peaceful and beautiful. Every room in the hotel has a large terrace. You can lean on the railing to watch the invincible sea view, sit on the terrace, and enjoy a quiet holiday moment here, very freehand. Although there are not many facilities around the hotel, you need to take the shuttle bus every half hour to get out of the city, but if you choose quiet, this is a good arrangement. You can take the shuttle bus to Taipa and Macau. Convenient, in addition, there is a large swimming pool in the hotel, and there are also green grass. This place is a big family, and it is quiet. It is ideal.
Nice hotel but a bit run down. The staff are really good. Good pool area and gardens. Drinks and food a bit pricey, 5 star prices but not 5 star food or drinks.
It was really GRAND and services were very good. M
Like Macau's Macau hotel, the transportation is convenient, it is such a quiet environment, it should be the only place in Macau that is less aunt.
Fantastic hotel, ideal for complete relaxation. Key features I personally enjoyed include
- Ocean views with a sizeable veranda
- Complementary shuttle transfers to and from the ferry terminal
- Great concierge and reception staff that were incredibly attentive
- Wide range of options for breakfast buffet
- pleasant grounds including gardens, pool, lounge areas etc.
- spacious rooms
My only criticism (which is incredibly minor) is the bizarre system in place for pool towels - you have to go from ground to level 2, sign a towel out for the pool then head down to ground floor again. Incredibly minor but a little irritating and pointless.
We always stay at The Grand Coloane whenever we're in Macau. The staff are so thoughtful and friendly. Food is good and the breakfast buffet has a good spread.
Great service and friendly staff. Vast and spacious rooms and installations. Very comfortable bed. Clean. Near black sand beach away from the Cotai strip caos yet very close by and accessible. Lots of kids though.
Very hit-and-miss experience at this hotel. It used to be a Westin. The rooms are quite large and mattresses are quite comfortable. Lobby was nice as well as the surrounding grounds. The restaurant has good food quality and service.
As for the bad, we reserved 3 rooms. One room had an issue with a broken heater and we're probably given a new room. However, the new room had no Wi-Fi working and took about half a day to get it fixed by the front desk. The second room had an issue of a cockroach. The other awful experience we had was getting on the shuttle from the ferry station. The shuttle comes every 30 minutes and is a small white shuttle. We called the front desk to let them know that we are waiting at the ferry and they said the shuttle would be there at 3:30pm and would pick us up at the bus stop. 337pm comes by and still no shuttle so we give the front desk call which they say the shuttle already passed us and blamed us that we were waiting in a different area of the parking lot.
Will not be coming back to another Grand Coloane.
Great place to stay if you want to see more of the nature side of Macau but still remain connected to the main city.
Awesome privacy place for lovers of the sea and service at 5 *
Nice hotel with big rooms. My room overlooked the South China Sea. Nice scene at sunrise. Relaxing and quiet place if you want to unwind and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Hotel right next to the famous Black Sand Beach. Hotel staff were helpful.
Awsome place. It is quite place with beautiful sea view
Spacious room with gorgeous sea and beach view. Professional fitness club and spa. I must live here again for my next visit of Macau.
Had a wonderful vacation here, away from the bustle of the casinos.
There is nothing near the restaurant, there is no way to buy a drink, dinner buffet is sky-high, it is recommended to buy good things before going. Breakfast is good and the room is not cold
A little oasis on the outskirts of the hustle and bustle of the casinos in Macau. While a little tired there are renovations underway however we really enjoyed the facilities.
Facing the beach, you can sit on the terrace and have a cup of tea for dessert, very casual
Atmosphere that is far from sloppy things such as casino because it is outside of Macao.
A hotel for those who enjoy golf.
There is nothing else to say about the room.
The correspondence of the staff is also perfect. The staff was Japanese NG when I went.
You need to use a taxi to play around the city.
Excellent location away from noise and pollution. Beach in the front is a treat. Staff is very courteous and service is excellent
This is a quiet beach front hotel away from bustles of Casino Hotels nearby.
Great relaxed atmosphere, with friendly and relaxed staff. No pretence and great vale for money. Kids love it.
This is one of the most peaceful resort in Macau. Close to beach side, it offers scenic beauty right from the rooms. There are shuttles at every 30 minutes to cotai strip (for casino lovers), so can take one and play at casino in night. The receptionist Ms. Nadia was very very helpful and we can easily say she is by far the best host we have seen till date. It was my wife's birthday and she took message from our friend in India and delivered the birthday message in a card right to our room. We were amazed!! This is an ideal location to stay in Macau at better prices
During our two days stay, we were able to enjoy our spacious accommodation and rooms. As it is a hot country, I have filled 4 free bottled water tightly and I like to clean the room thoroughly.
Shuttle buses run every 30 minutes, so there was no difficulty going to Macau Port or Casino Main Street.
Clean, helpful staff, rooms have a large balcony, big pool, family friendly, no casino. Breakfast was good and wide variety but eggs and hash Brown's were cold.
Charming scenery, sea and sky - color, a good place for vacation!
Excellent service, reasonable price and first-class environment
Good Hotel good service. Major problem Taxis do not want to go there. The drivers a rude and aggressive. It hurts local people's businesses. Something must be done about this
The room is large. The sea view room has a terrace. It is comfortable for 10 minutes. A taxi from Taipa Old District is about $ 65. The bus can also reach the hotel.
The room smells very heavy, the cleaning is not very clean, it is said that there are a lot of dust in the five-star, a little scary
The hotel is located on the outskirts of the city but close to the beach. If you are looking for peaceful and relaxing stay this is the best choice. Although they have a shuttle bus service every 30 min to cotai for pick and drop so it makes travelling easy. The hotel rooms were comfortable and big. The staff and service was good. They have different categories of rooms sea view, ocean view, garden view, ours was a sea view. They have indoor and outdoor pool with gym and play area for kids too.The buffet breakfast spread was good with choice of Indian, Chinese and continental food.I stayed there for 3 nights the only complaint I have is there breakfast buffet menu was same all these days which was quiet boring.Rest the stay was awesome.
It already changed the name to Grand Coloane Macau Beach Resort
It's a great resort to spend time with children. Although the building is a bit old, ocean view always lasts. The environment is very nice.
A very irresponsible sprinkler shop, booked 3 rooms but charged 4 room prices, each call has the same answer, constantly shirking responsibility
Nice hotel, good size rooms and very well designed.
Room service is very quick and the service here is friendly and helpful.
The breakfast buffet has varied option of different cuisines.
Food and drinks menus have good options.
Many services in the hotel. Large and clean pool.
Small football pitch near the pool with goals.
Nice location as many rooms have a nice sea view.
Very quiet and relaxing.
Free WiFi, gym services, steam room, sauna and many other services are provided.
Non-hotel guest can also pay to enjoy these services.
Price is quite good compared to the quality and other hotel In Macau.
Overall a very nice hotel!
Used to be Westin.we've been coming here for last 6 years as our big family gathering spot. compare to Westin back in the day which owned by SPG group, The service and facilities (maintenance) are getting noticeably worse each time we come here.
Although the hotel is old, it is well maintained, the environment is very good, the room is clean and comfortable, the food is high, and the waiter's attitude is very good. It is one of the best choices for vacation.
A good place to relax and enjoy the time with your family
Beautiful rooms, beautiful view! Good service, grand lobby, and a very peaceful stay. Hardly any taxis but there are bus stations conveniently beside the hotel!
A nice place. As all places here, expensive. There is a free shuttle bus that takes you into town and all around the area. Taxi drivers always seem annoyed to take you out to here though. Nearby there is 1 resteraunte that is nice but gets very busy so book. No sign of a corner shop. Nothing within walking.
This hotel is nice. clean and the staff are friendly. We did feel that it was a little dated though and in need of a paint job.
The beach is right outside but home to 10+ wild dogs that aren't approachable..
Good environment, casino, suitable for a big play
The resort is old but all the facilities are still mint, the buffet breakfast very nice, and the myanmar guy at the gate is very friendly comparing to the worker at the counter.
Clean and luxurious ... but Macau. 50% of Kota, 30% of Guam. The pool is nice and quiet.
I found the rooms musty and dirty. Liked the restaurant and staff.
This used to be Westin resort, the most luxurious resort on Macau in its day. Nowadays the outside looks a little dated, but inside it's just as amazing. My room looks out to sea, with hac sa beach on one side. The bed is one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. I usually have problems with strange beds but last night I slept like a baby. I had a great buffet breakfast this morning and then took a nice stroll on the beach. Not being much of a resort kind of person I cannot comment on the pool and other facilities, but others seem to be having a lot of fun. I've been put here because the hotel I'm working in is completely full, and I'm not complaining. Not at all!
Near the suburbs
There are free shuttle buses from the pier for 2 hours per hour.
Direct access to the hotel in approximately 20 minutes
The hotel is fully furnished and has an outdoor indoor pool.
Indoor fitness center
With a children's playground
There are many restaurants
Excellent Chinese food
Thai-style Japanese cuisine
In the evening, there are singers singing in the outdoor space.
The buffet style for breakfast and dinner is many and the taste is authentic.
The waiter is friendly and the room is big enough
Free 6 drinking waters
Resort preferred
It is a very quiet and beautiful resort. It's a great place to experience the countryside in Macau.
Very nice... great breakfast.. superb view... a little musky though...
Older hotel connected to golf country club. Architecturally Asian and western fusion with the individual room s terraces shielded by angular stucco walls and together they give the hotel the appearance of a great Spanish fort in this case Portuguese colonial fort.
For those that say that this is not a five star hotel then they haven t travelled much in their life the heart of a five store hotel is it s restaurant. The night menu is limited but very good and fresh.
The room felt a little outdated but it was a quite retreat from the major roads. The beach is not as exhilarating as the pictures make it. Half the dock is blocked off so you can't walk too far one way. To the right of the hotel, they have a black sand beach but it has a lot of trash everywhere. It was still a good visit and the staff was very helpful!
The place is good but a bit far from the center and leads to a scary road at night but the rooms are very spacious, comfortable, clean and good price compared to other hotels
This resort is awesome. The restaurant foods are very good. Staff are friendly.
The hotel is far from the casino, quiet and comfortable, the air is fresh, the staff is friendly and welcoming. The bar is great, and there is a delicious and delicious Southeast Asian buffet in the evening.
