They don't have any sweet brunch options for vegans, which sucks. And they didn't have as many vegan bakery selections when I was there as their Wrigleyville location, maybe just that day but still.

Pastries and baked goods are awesome! Breakfast was just ok. Short rib lacked any real flavor. Probably wouldn't come back for food, but will definitely be back for their sweet treats!
Everything these guys and gals do here is top notch. From seasonal espresso drinks to delectable cakes and pastries, and especially their biscuits and gravy wonders never cease.

It's been my favorite bakery for years. People are so friendly, never had a bad dish and it's just inviting to sit with friends and hang out. I've ordered birthday cakes for my daughter from here and they always exceed my expectations with decorating it!!! Love, love, love this place!

My son recently moved to the Ukrainian Village which is located just west of the Chicago Loop. I make excuses to visit my son (laundry, home made cookies, it's my Birthday, whatever) but, it's mostly to experience the culture of Ukrainian Village. So, it's a Sunday AM and my hubby & I decide to visit our 2 boys in Chicago, I think I was bringing son #1 a most needed vacuum cleaner.
After delivering the vacuum, it's time for Brunch! We started walking east on Chicago Ave and came upon West Town Bakery & Diner.
OMG! It's like entering the set of Happy Days (the sitcom) but, it's real and it's 2014. Very casual atmosphere, seat yourself...ok and get ready to experience a menu filled with 1950 fav's but with a 21st Century epicurean twist.
My son ordered the Morning Poutine, a bowl filled with french fries covered in meat and cheese. Usually #1 son eats super fast but, this Poutine was so large, it slowed him down. He did finish the entire Poutine, and he found it to be very gratifying. I tried the Short Rib Eggs Benedict. WOW! This is a dish you would never make for yourself at home due to all the work & ingredients, but it was divine!
#2 son ordered the chicken and waffles, hubby had the regular Eggs Benedict and there were no left overs today!
Waiting to pay our bill, I sauntered over to the Bakery counter and ordered some cupcakes (marvelous) and macaroons (french cookies). We have been to Paris & have indulged in Paris' macaroons and West Town Bakery delivers the crisp, melt in your mouth cream macaroon the same as Paris.
Great food, great $'s! Can't wait to find another excuse to visit my 2 sons & experience West Town for another exceptional Brunch.

Bill. He's a host and a waiter. He's friendly and accommodating. Go to see Bill. Otherwise there's really nothing else to this place that impresses me. I liked the audacity of having a breakfast mac and cheese on the menu. The only problem was it's so unctious. With no kind of acid to cut it with and a paucity of bacon and vegetables, it became a huge slog to try to get through. Their biscuits didn't fare any better. At least they know how to prepare a decent egg. This seems to be a neighborhood spot. The patrons there seemed very comfortable with it. If you're from the neighborhood I can see the appeal. But it's definitely not a destination location for me. Glad I ate there though. I got to meet Bill.

West town bakery does it right. I've gotten a number of tasty treats from these folks and have yet to be disappointed. Try the cake balls, so many great flavors and vegan/gluten free options. Get the red velvet cake balls, those are my favorite.

Churro cupcakes? Donut sandwiches? And now, liquor drinks?? Living so close to Bleeding Heart Bakery is so, so dangerous. I love everything they do. I would recommend everything on the menu, ESPECIALLY the donut breakfast sandwich and the hibiscus pancakes. You will never eat anything else for breakfast.
Made an order on Grubhub, waited two hours and when I called they said their Grubhub "wasn't working." Still have yet to get a refund. I was unable to rate on the app, but every other review says the same thing - they take your money then never show up. An incredibly tacky business.
We were in a rush so just grabbed some pastries for breakfast, and everything was yummy. Especially loved the trailmix scone and herbed cheese croissant.

What a hidden gem for vegan diner food! Tons of options. The bakery case isn't marked with the word vegan - just ask and then look closely- anything with a white background on the label is vegan. How lovely is that!

Westend Bakery (BHB) is located in the Ukraine Village area, a young vibrant location filled with all sorts of energy. The owners have capitalized on this energy and have demonstrated this excitement through their products, always coming out with additional items and concepts, I can only say you must visit this venue to experience the vast array of goodies, too many to actually pick a favorite. Keep up the great work in continuing your quest for bring the vibe to the neighborhood.

Update - they removed my favorite ditches. All of them so... I went afterwards and found THAT was the magic. Updating with a downgrade - 5 to 3. Service is still stellar however.
Delicious eggs Benedict (I got the one with pico de Gallo) and good service. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because it had the most horrible smell inside the restaurant. I was eating outside when I went in to use their bathroom and I almost gagged. Not sure what was going on.... Besides the smell it was great and I could sit with my dogs in their outdoor seating section. Would definitely return.

I was pretty disappointed in the donuts. There were only 5 available on Uber Eats. I don t know if that s all they have or they don t have them all on the app. Either way it s disappointing. The bigger issue is the donuts are super...bready? They are very thick and cannot be described as soft, even the crepe filled ones. The biggest surprise to me was that the red velvet donut wasn t a red velvet donut. It was a normal donut with red velvet icing.

I got my wedding cake from West Town Bakery, and they absolutely killed it!
We had two flavors: chocolate cake with chocolate filling and vanilla cake with caramel filling. Both were amazing in the tasting as well as day-of! And while West Town Bakery had a more limited selection than other bakeries we considered, their taste was superior. Another important factor for us: these guys can do a completely gluten free wedding cake! Of the five different places we tasted with, West Town's gluten free cake was the best, hands down. It was soft, spongey perfection, and no one at the wedding could tell it was gluten free.
There was a pretty lengthy wait time to get in for a tasting, and it was a little annoying that you could only pay the deposit/balance over the phone (calling at specific hours). But nonetheless, we loved our wedding cake, and so did our guests! My husband's #1 wedding day regret? "Not getting to eat more of the cake."

Went in with a friend. Ordered milkshakes and burgers. Milkshakes were really good, but we were disappointed with the appearance and taste of the burger. Maybe it was just a bad day.
They made our wedding cake a few years ago and we go back every year to buy an anniversary cake. It's a little pricey because we special order it to be the same as the top tier of our wedding cake but it's always beautiful and is the best cake we've ever had.
Please update your menu, online and in the restaurant. The reason I came, the short rib Benedict is no longer available but still shows up online as a choice. When at the restaurant, looking at the printed menu, my second choice, corned beef brisket, is no longer available. The counter staff, who was very apologetic, recommended something new on the printed menu but that isn't listed online, breakfast nachos. It became obvious to me that I picked the wrong day to come because before biting into my dish the mushrooms looked exceptionally large, I called the restaurant to find out what variety of mushrooms these were and she assured me that they were button. Upon tasting them I found them to be bitter and inedible. I tried eating around them but there was some other flavors that I couldn't identify and that I couldn't tolerate either. I liked the atmosphere of the place, I want to come back to try the baked goods but this experience was not pleasant, sorry.

I know people go sort of bananas for this place, but I don't get it. Never really understood it with Bleeding Heart, either, if I'm to be honest. Stopped in late at night after dinner for some baked goods and were debating buying a couple of doughnuts for the morning. The clerk assured us they were just baked and would be great in the morning. But neither my wife nor I enjoyed the doughnuts we had the next morning -- kind of tasteless, way too heavy and definitely a bit stale. I know the cake balls receive a lot of attention here, but I still think cake balls, in general, are a dumb idea, so that end of the business isn't about to do it for me.
The treats here are sensational plus they have great coffee! I love the variety from cake balls to pastries - my favorites are the macaroons. The servers are friendly and give great suggestions. You can also check out a funky cake creation in their front viewing room. For the cafe half, it can get a little noisy, but their breakfast dishes are creative.
Awesome service, awesome vegan options, everyone wanted to know where I got the cake balls(cake pops without the stick), they were so good! and they were half off! They have specials everyday, and Tuesday is half off cake balls. I didn't serve them until Sunday and they were as fresh as ever thanks to the amazing little cake balls tray they came in.

i had a very bad first experience.
First me and my husband order coffee.. you would think it would take less than 10 minutes, considering they were not to busy. WRONG! we got our food first and when we were about to be done eating our coffee showed up. Honestly worst coffee. it was so bitter and for the price which was $4.00 it was very upsetting. Oh.. and i only went because i was craving a vegan chocolate cupcake, which i specifically told my waiter i wanted before my food so i could enjoy it with my coffee. WRONG AGAIN! I got it after we got our bill and after i reminded the waiter.
Good and overpriced. Just paid $18 and change for two scones and two coffees and the cashier gave me a dirty look because I tipped under 18 percent.
Mmmmm. This place is amazing! Their cake balls are really good and moist. Their seasonal pumpkin cronut is really delicious as well. Really easy and close to Michigan Ave if you're a tourist and if you're around, you definitely have to stop by.
West Town Bakery catered the cupcakes for my wedding back in May 2018. The cupcakes, which were a combination of regular, gluten free, and vegan, turned out amazing! All of our guests loved them. If you're looking for someone to cater special dietary desserts in the Chicago area that are reasonably priced, definitely look into West Town Bakery!

My little girl has an egg allergy and finding a bakery that can make her cake especially for her first birthday. This bakery has outdone themselfs. By far best cake ever! My guests were shocked to learn it was vegan and the birthday girl even liked it (smashed her cake and ate some). Barley had enough to save for the next day! I strongly recommend this place. Customer service was grest. The girls were super sweet. Thank you west town!!!!

Plenty of seating indoor and out including counter top which is a personal favorite for quick bite. There are a couple TVs over the kitchen as well but only sound playing is music. Huge fan of west town coffee and cake balls now happy to add their diner to that list. Full size menu with vegan and unique options including avocado toast that doesn t make you feel overly basic for ordering. I went with the Benedict Fresca and bottomless coffee, was even offered one to go! Will definitely be a new regular. Extensive pastry selection for grab and go as well.

Went to West Town Bakery on Chicago today. Nothing on social media said that they would be closing early. Showed up at 5:07 and an employee was putting patio furniture away. When asked why they were closing 2 hours early his response was sorry guys not my decision . Really disappointing.
