West Ashley Crab Shack Review

This was my first time visiting Charleston South Carolina I had a wonderful time in the city the water taxi was terrific the water park for the kids to run around a little Fountain was great we went to the West Ashley Crab Shack and it was the standard of standards five stars is not enough the food was terrific The margaritas was terrific the waiter name was Jeffrey he was terrific can't remember the bartender's name but she was terrific I was so impressed that I tip the waiter and the bartender separately I hope that's the norm and I shall return great job West Ashley Crab Shack you deserve an extra 5 stars

It was very cute. I love the decoration and ambiance. I had some steamed corn, potatoes, shrimp and sausage, broil style. It was good, but not too much flavor to it. Other than salads and a sandwhich or two, all entrees are $19+.

We came there to eat on Fathers Day and our waitress was fantastic. We were very welcomed by everyone. We had family from out of state come with us and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will be back.

very good seafood. my favorite is the shrimp and flounder. Our family meets here for our "family night" on Thursdays.

I love the Crab Shack! We try to go every time we come to Charleston.

Lots of friends seafood. Everything is a little greasier than you expect and a little under seasoned.

Best calamari every...I always get it when on any menu. The crab cakes are recommended...full of sweet crab meat. Our servers, Phil & Alesha, the best! Alesha was in training and she is ready to be turned loose. Hubby had fried shrimp; size and quantity plentiful - and he is a hearty eater! Have had crab legs many times before, and they too, are always cooked to perfection. Good Rodney Strong Chardonnay on the wine list and chilled glass for the beer. Ready to go back !

Awesome staff, they were short handed but you never would have know it by the way we got our meal and how often they stop to make sure we were doing ok. The food was amazing, I grew up on local seafood in another state and now I don't think I can eat the seafood at home because of how great it was. Will definitely come back on another trip

Total mess, starting from absolutely emotionless hostess, following with sub-par food and a server, who doesn't know what she is doing here, this place deserves 0 stars. Too bad I had to give it 1.

My husband and I went here for the first time this past Friday and loved it! The food was delicious especially the crab cake and fried shrimp!! Our server Hamilton was excellent, answering questions I had about a few menu items and making suggestions as well. He was very friendly and upbeat! This place also has great ambiance! Definitely coming back!!

The "she crab soup" could be the best example of junk there is. It was thick enough to eat with a fork and lacking in crab flavor. The crab and shrimp casserole was lacking in crab as well. The crab cakes however were ok. Service was s l o w. I would not recommend the Crabless Shack.

Crab legs are wonderful. We caught a special and they were inexpensive.

We came from out of town and was getting late. They were open, we got seated quickly and had a big group. Was pleased with the service and had a decent amount of food portions.

The food was amazing, the staff was beyond amazing. My 4yr old wanted a salad and will only eat it with French dressing. They didnt have it so the waiter sent the kitchen to go buy some. The store didnt have so they looked it up and made some for her and it was delicious! Thank you so much it made my daughters day!

We were visiting from out of town this past weekend and decided to try it before we headed next door for our couples massages. I am so glad we did. We just got appetizers, but they were perfect and fast to order. The she crab soup was awesome. I loved the decor and style. The waitress did wonderful and provided great service. A really cool laid back and relaxed spot.

Delicious, hot amd fresh! This was our first time here as we just moved to SC this summer. Fast, friendly service. Food was excellent. Nice vibe. We'll be back for sure!

Great food, friendly staff and excellent service! I have been away from SC for a while and was really craving Lowcountry seafood, and West Ashley Crab Shack more than delivered.

Currently at this place and it's slow...or so it seems. Seated outside to avoid the 25 minute wait. Drinks came timely. Appetizers were crab balls and calamari. Not sure why the calamari was warm and not hot...the crab balls too. Two different colors as if one was fresher. All drink cups emptied with slow refills. Side salad old and wilted...the Frog something stew was had old sausage but good shrimp, both in size and portion. The corn was pretty good. My husband's Bourbon Queen chicken and shrimp was too sweet, the collards too sweet and the food was not hot. My oldest ordered the Alfredo so he was pleased. My youngest didn't want to order but he ordered the She crab soup soup and had to send it back. Hate that we came here and spent any amount of money. I told my husband that the reviews weren't too favorable but he wanted seafood and ended up with no food. Spent 74.00...wasn't worth it at all. We are on vacation, so you have to expect at least one of all eateries you visit to be garbage. Close, revamp what you are doing, hire better chefs, better wait staff and reopen.

Amazingly tasty food here. Staff was very friendly and kind. There was a problem on our bill (price on the menu was lower), and even though they were busy the staff received it. Food cane out fast and hot, the she crab soup was to die for! An excellent place to head down to if you're looking for authentic southern food.

It was decent but not as expected. The pics we saw online for the shrimp looks a lot different. These were popcorn shrimp and they were rubbery. We were headed back to Atlanta so we didnt have time to say much. The She crab soup was very bland. Not impressed

Very friendly and quick service. Great atmosphere. Food was delicious, the she crab soup is amazing. The beer was ice cold. My mixed drink could have been a bit stronger but the overall experience was very satisfactory. I would go back.

Waiting for food is too long been sitting for 15mins before taking orders for drinks and another 40 mins for food..have to have patience..food is good

Had grilled shrimp and scallops. Excellent!! Red potatoes and grilled veggies also great.

Food was cold and server took greater than 20 minutes for refills on drinks.

My husband and I go all the time! We love the food and the price's aren't bad either!

I try to stop in when I am in town. The shrimp and flounder is the best! I was alittle disappointed with the red rice this time but the service is always friendly and overall it is a good experience

Traveled back to Charleston from Saint Louis for our college reunion, dropped in to get some much needed seafood and we were NOT disappointed! The seafood here is fantastic. I highly recommend stopping by if you are down in West Ashley. Also, the staff are amazing. Especially Melissa; she took great care of us.

Great service! Prices are correct for the quality/quantity of the seafood. We were seated immediately and promptly served despite being short handed. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive and made us feel at home. Best shrimp and grits I've ever had. Will definitely come back on our next trip to Charleston.

Seafood boil off the chain & crab cakes awesome meaty and not overbreaded. Great food, great service. This Dallas, Texan will come back again. Tell all family and friends and acquaintances.

Great people, fabulous food, perfect casual atmosphere

These workers go above and beyond the call of duty. The service is amazing, the staff is friendly, and the food is phenomenal. I highly reccomend this restaurant. Good prices, too!

My favorite fresh out of the water taste of seafood and great service the lowcountry style of eating and great sides

We eat here all the time but recently the food is not the same I think they have changed their menu we always order the shrimp and grits but this time its the yellow girts which is very hard to get the right consistcy when cooking also it was cold an not enough gravy the person I was with had a Burger which was mediocre taste like eating at a fastfood joint it had no condiments and taste plain he said do we gave them a please go back to white grits

Surprisingly good. O had family visiting out of town and wanted to go downtown for good crab cakes. It got alittle to late for that, so we tried this place around the corner. Very good crab cakes. All the other food is good, no fishy smell as you enter.

The atmosphere was cozy and the food was delicious... The crab soup could use more crab meat. But it was tasty.

Though it was a bit of a detour as we had been heading up to Columbia from Goose Creek, we had heard too much to not try it. The food was good, wait staff were very helpful, the place was really clean, the customers were all very friendly (we had a busy 3yo): all in all, we had a great dining experience.

We ordered the crab duo, lots of different appetizers, crab cakes, and shrimp. The buffalo shrimp and fried calamari were fantastic, the fried green tomatoes were great, the hush puppies were a little dry and bland but the honey butter sweetened them right up. Everyone loved the crab balls. The crab cakes were filled with crab meat, the salmon was cooked quite well. I was a bit bummed that they didn't have steamed broccoli but we all loved the 'smashed' potatoes (with a delicious brown gravy), the vegetable medley was pretty good, and our kids loved the red rice... -- I had two other sides and didn't order it so have to take their word.

Terrible customer service! Was told the wait time would be 20 mins sat inside and waited 30 mins and no one ever acknowledged us or updated us on the wait time. There were also people waiting before us that also looked frustrated very disappointed
