West Ashley Crab Shack Reviews

My dinner partners loved it. Lots of shrimp and crab. I dont eat seafood (I know). The chicken cedar salad I had was a little skimpy, but it is a crabshack after all. Staff were friendly and we were sat promptly even though there were 6 of us.

Man I had high hopes for this place. We drive by it everyday and talk about going here and finally we decided to check it out. Worst meal I have ever had in Charleston hands down. Its decorated like a seafood themed applebees that got forgotten halfway through. Super bright lights and filled with people from an old folks home. I ordered the crab stuffed flounder and commented how bad it tasted but was so hungry from the long wait I toughed it out without complaining. Quarter of the way through, I pick out a piece of crab shell I bit down on. Whatever I'm hungry, halfway through I choke on a piece of flounder bone only to be told that "people dont know that filets of fish here have bones so that's normal". WHAT?? Didnt get a sorry from the manager who had an attitude and could not wait to get the check and leave. Super overpriced and poor poor quality. Could tell it was all frozen. (Looked like from walmart)? GROSS AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

The waiter was amazing! The food was one of the reasons I'd tell anyone to visit!!! I couldn't have been more satisfied!!! Yum! Yum! Yum!

We have eaten here for the past 3 yrs for my daughter's birthday abd as always the food is excellent! !!!!

Best service and best seafood! Their hushpuppies are so good and their seafood steam trays are amazing!!! Definitely worth a visit! I highly recommend!

It was okkk.... service was not bad but food was just okay. Polite workers. Fried shrimp and french fries felt very heavy with oil. The menu was soso. Not a large variety to choose from,as much of it was fried and similar dishes. Not bad but not great.

Food is good. Service is good. Just small portions at high prices. The individual shrimp however are fresh and jumbo. I like the place and people, just go there sparingly due to the cost.

Just love this place, the people are so friendly and the environment inviting.also love the decor and music

Our Lowcountry Business Networking International (BNI) Chapter meets at the Crab Shack every Tuesday. Because of excellent service from Alex, we requested to have him serve our group every week. Alex is very organized with our orders and never disrupts our meetings. I would highly recommend stopping in to West Ashley Crab Shack for any meeting. And recommend Alex as your waiter.

Sorry. Not impressed. Visited on a Thursday evening. Food was so so. There was the feint odor of dirty dish rags when I walked in the first time. I probably won't go back.

We arrived late (8:30) and could not get a seat for 45 minutes which is understandable but while we were sitting at the bar waiting to be seated got a few glimpses of the kitchen. It appeared to be filthy dirty. I suddenly lost my appetite and we left to go to another restaurant in the area that I trust for it's cleanliness. Perhaps W.A. Crab Shack is short on help? Anyway, we will definitely not go there again!

Both the service and food was amazing. It was a slow night, but that was fine with us. I would highly recommend the snowcapped and shrimp bucket.

Very polite Southern hospitality, server offered to pay for service members food.

Really didn't wow me. Nice building that was well kept, but the prices were fairly High for otherwise fairly standard seafood

My wife and I had the crab/shrimp pot with sausage. Shrimp were good size and tender, but the pot came with 1 small cluster of snow crab. The legs were pretty skinny. This is not the first time we had eaten there. In the past the pots contained large multi-legged clusters.

Nice place the food was good until I found a fried dead fly in my rice yuk

I had the fried shrimp and crab cake. Everything was good but the five stars goes to the crab cake. It was tender,moist, and tasted very good. This was the best crab cake i ever had!!

They were awesome! Customer service was great and the food was delicious the restaurant was very clean and beautiful I love it and I will be going back often.

Amazing experience. Staff was super friendly! Best low country boil I have had in a very long time! Large portions and will leave you super stuffed! This will be our go to spot whenever we are in Charleston.

The virgin pina colada was good. I LOVE that it's pet friendly. Sunshine sat in my lap in her dog bed/cuddle cup. I also loved that they gave us a napkin holder with napkins. So many restaurants you have to ask for napkins. I also loved the large tree inside growing into the outside shack ceiling. Loved the decor. They didn't charge for sauces on the side. I got a steamed bowl of mussels, shrimp and oysters 10 each with potatoes and corn. The seafood was so fresh. The shrimp were so big. I asked for a buffalo sauce that was amazing with the seafood. Our server thought it was the brand Frank's Red Hot. I've gotten mussels at Red Lobster that were fishy and nasty. I loved the seasoning it was cooked with. I tried some of my boyfriend's bbq shrimp and crabcake sandwich. So good! I would go back over and over again!

Love the Crab Shack, just dissapointed that they got rid of the bacon wrapped shrimp.

The shrimp and grits were outstanding. The atmosphere perfect for a "we worked like a dog all week so let's chill" Friday. Service was fantastic. The waiter checked on us enough to stay on top of stuff but wasn't bothering us - and he never came up as we just put a big ol' bite in our mouths. The Girlfriend & I will make it a regular stop.

I visited this location on two occasions, when my dude comes in town, this is my place of choice. On both visits my waiter was Henry, he was awesome. I love this place.

Good service, decent food, tasty and nicely cooked. Prices are $$$. Good location and parking.

It was a food experience that exceeded our expectations. My husband ordered a shrimp casserole, I ordered grilled shrimps and feta cheese salad. Everything was delicious! My husband said that "it is ridiculous how good the casserole is!" :) Our waiter was extremely pleasant, fast and efficient. We are coming back tomorrow! We loved this place and definitely recommend it!

"This is my reason no need to call you" 'Not impressed my girlfriend got sick deffently not going back we are from Massachusetts and moved here we know sea food and are totally willing to pay up for a good meal sorry to say are dog wouldn't eat are 3/4 left over meals 3 to be exact. Its like the McDonalds of seafood.

The service was very horrible,the waiters kept knocking over drinks, the food was terrible and we had a 2 and a half hour wait for food. I will never come here again

We didn't experience a very good service from our waiter.His service was not very customer friendly.The food was very well cook and flavored nicely unfortunately our service was again not good standards!!!!!!!

Shrimp and grits are way overpriced for what you get. I've eaten the dish all over town and gotten way better quality for much less. $20 with tax is crazy.

My wife and I had the crab balls to start and they were awesome. All crabmeat with a very thin breaking to keep them together. Everyone needs to try them at least once. Then we split the crab, oyster, clam, muscle, and shrimp bucket. Talk about the best and freshest seafood we have ever had. The oysters take some effort to open but they are worth it. The service was great and our waitress was very attentive checking on us regularly. We will be back as regular customers.

The Crab was good, hushpuppies & chicken ok & fries disgusting. Seemed sorta dirty. Service was just ok.

Absolutely great service and always fantabulous food, not very expensive for fresh seafood. Whenever I'm in Charleston this is a must stop for me.

Called in my order, customer service on phone was great. Customer service at the bar to pick up an order was awful. The bartender snatched the money out of my husband's hand so hard the change flew very unacceptable.crabs was excellent my mom enjoyed them.

Crab and shrimp were very well cooked. Enjoyed the she crab soup. Very relaxed atmosphere. Great service.

Would have given 5 stars if our order was correct. Food was great as usual.

Wanted seafood for dinner. Roasted peanuts and good cold beer were fun for getting started. Wife and I split a really good, fresh salad and a seafood platter. Flounder, shrimp, slaw, fried okra were excellent.....clam strips, OK. Plenty of food for us. Alex, the Italian waiter was courteous and attentive. Good time. Go, have fun.

Here from NYC. Had a large order for take out. The food was great. My server Melissa is fantastic. She handled my multiple orders with professionalism, and grace. I will be back.

Popped in really quick for lunch. I was by myself and didn't have much time, but I wanted to try Charleston food while visiting from out of state. I had the She Crab soup and it was amazing! I would try it again tomorrow, but there are still other Charleston specialties I want to try before I leave!

Great place, good servers. The food good, fried lightly. Crab was great as well. Loved the hush puppies. Prices were reasonable, seafood always pricey anyway. I'm sure I'll be back for another meal

This place was fantastic! The food was delicious, especially the home-made hush puppies. The crab legs were cooked perfectly as were the red potatoes. Our waitress was so friendly and very attentive!! I wish I could remember her name because she was GREAT!

We usually visit Coosaw Creek Crab Shack however I looked around tonight because my daughter loves crab legs! I found this restaurant! We decided to go here instead and try out a new place. I looked online at pricing and specials before we went. Well a crab leg bucket is listed online at 26.99. That's way better than the 33.99 listed at coosaw creek! When we got there the menu said 33.99. I asked, why the difference? If you have a price posted you should honor that price. I was told that wasnt the case by our server. You need to update your website! Oysters had been shucked but didnt seem to be freshly shucked. They were difficult to detach and we left half on the shell because of it. Hubbys soup came out with his meal instead of with salads and I asked for extra lemons with my scallops that I never got. We also asked for coffee that we wound up taking to go because it took so long to get. The meals all tasted great but not overly impressed. All in all...not worth the extra drive.

If I could give it a negative 1 I would. Food made me sick!!

Fantastic food and you can't beat the price! Life is incredibly friendly and helpful also. From the hostess to the waiter to the manager you had a wonderful experience all around.

Awful experience! Only 3 employees present. The manager who remained pleasant, friendly and smiling was the hostess, bartender, waiter and the bus boy. Only 2 waitess for the entire restaurant. Food was slow to come out. But what would you expect with only 2 waitresses. One was so overwhelmed she couldn't remember my order. She went back 3 times to get ticket correct. Even stated that she felt like she was just thrown under a bus. Customers were getting up to leave because of the long wait. Just in town for the holidays trying to get seafood. The oyster bucket and the amount of oysters was worth the 22.00. Crab stuffed flounder was also good according to my cousin.

Visited as the Crab Shack provides a $15 birthday voucher for lunch or dinner. I did the fried shrimp platter which was tasty but not the best which is why I rated them a 4 (could have been a little fresher)!Loved the parched peanuts.

Food is great, the portion size for what you pay for... Not so much. Would eat here again if I get a bonus and not to hungry.

Had to wait on the waiting list for 2.5 hours and when we finally get seated our server tells us that they were out of crab legs. Was very disappointed.

Excellent service, good options for a non seafood eater like myself. My family thoroughly enjoyed all their seafood options. Will be back...and their fried green tomatoes we're excellent.

We waited over 30 minutes for our food and didnt get an appetizer. A group of 4 got there after we ordered and got their food before us. I ended up having to leave for an appt when I allotted ample amount of time to eat prior to. I mentioned it to the waiter and apparently after I left, I'm assuming it was the manager, went over to my parents and took care of the meal. We were not expecting that, I just wanted to eat before my appt. But that was very sweet and she apologized.

The waitress was excellent and the food is delicious. The jumbo shrimp alone, filled me up. I loved it. I wish they would build one in Goose Creek.

Expensive but the food was pretty good, just not enough food for the high price...
