Beautiful facility with incredible amenities. Food was spot on also !
The lunch today had lettuce that was wilted and the bar tender was super but needs help such as a bar back.
Attended a function in my honor. Great room, service, food, and the venue in general. Try the Sunday buffet.
Amazing historic hotel, very well maintained, friendly staff and nice views of the marina.
This is a "Historic Hotel". The rooms are nicely furnished and the bathroom was large with a wonderful shower. People come here just for the spa services. They have heated massage tables. The pool was salt water which I like, fewer chemicals. However the hallways go uphill and downhill. The parking is somewhat limited. You could eat on site or drive to a few restaurants.
The massage oil was freezing cold and I still have knots in my neck despite telling the masseuse where to focus. You re better off spending money at a chain massage place. Money wasted. Do not spend your money here.
Nice view, clean room, courteous staff. A historic location in a beautiful place.
Rooms and service were great, but the organization of the hotel meant that the hallway to the room was very long, that's my only complaint but even that is a very small gripe.
Beautiful Resort, very close to downtown Portsmouth Justin at the front desk as well as the other gentlemen whos name i didnt catch were extremely helpful and look out for others in the Marriott family. My girlfriend and i will for sure be back soon !
Consistently good service, food, and accommodations every time we visit.
Fantastic spa and massage services, well appointed hotel and maintained grounds with a lovely marina.
Very nice bar and restaurant (the Salt). Superb martini and lobster bisque - friendly, knowledgeable and attentive staff
Had a professional event. Staff was get, food was great, exceptional event
a very fun hotel and the people are helpful. the outside hot tub was great.very well layed out. and the breakfast was awesome .and the Sicilian pizza was fantastic.the pool inside was great too. nothing bad about this place. we will return.
Brunch was lovely with many unexpected features such as gluten free dessert options, lamb among the meats at three carving station and made to order eggs Benedict options! Perfect for a small family occasion.
They screwed up my reservation saying I was a no show for Thursday when my actual reservation was Saturday. Thankfully, they corrected their mistake after I showed the my email confirmation. Rooms are nice, spa is fantastic, great location to downtown Portsmouth. Most of the staff are nice (minus the blonde passive aggressive pool towel lady).
Went to Sunday brunch. It was excellent. The food was great and the mimosa just kept on flowing.
The Sunday holiday brunch was terrific. I have never ever seen such a wide variety of quality food choices.
Pretty decent spot to order late night, The lobster was quite delicious. However I would have preferred if it was hot. They gave me the wrong cheese and didnt add it to the sandwich. The garlic flatbread was also a good choice. They also didnt provide any forks for the salad or napkins.
A beautiful hotel and overall a great experience. The room was clean, very comfortable, and far larger than I expected in a property of this age. The only complaint was that maintenance was a bit lacking. The hand soap dish by the sink was so old its finish had started wearing off and needs replaced and house keeping needs to pay more attention to the showers as there was a build up of soap on the soap tray that could easily be prevented / removed with hot water and a bit of elbow grease. All in all very minor stuff that did not really affect the overall experience.
Very classy hotel. Heated floors, great service, and beautiful view.
Restored years ago,and love the architecture.I was helped before I got out of my vehicle, and the doors were held open for me to deliver lost luggage from Logan/Boston?????? WOW!!! Beautiful area near Portsmouth,Nh.
As usual, great service, great features, and great experience overall.
Beautiful scenery and amazing ammeneties. This place is located in a great area came here for the first time in the summer the weather was great and everyone we met was very nice staff, guest and locals
We went for the brunch with Santa and it was amazing. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. And the decorations we're beautiful. It's an event we're hoping to attend yearly.
Mothers Day brunch was delicious. The variety of food was outstanding. The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly, even though they were handling such an enormous crowd. The hotel itself is beautiful and historic. All in all, a great time. Mom loved it.
Fantastic food. Great staff that goes the extra mile to be sure you get what you want.
Wentworth by the Sea is a four star Marriott hotel on the island of New Castle just outside the town of Portsmouth, NH. Bedrooms are spacious, comfortable and well equipped and overlook either the Atlantic Ocean or the Piscataqua River. The 161 bedroom hotel has a spa, indoor and outdoor pool and a fitness centre. It has three dining options all with a high standard of cuisine and prices are reasonable for the quality of food provided.
The town of Portsmouth is less than 3 miles from the hotel while Portsmouth International Airport is 7 miles away. Boston is a one hour drive from the hotel. A member of the Historic Hotels of America it features the three original Victorian towers constructed in the 1870s. Wentworth by the Sea has hosted dignitaries and celebrities such as Annie Oakley, Gloria Swanson, Harry Truman and Prince Charles. The Treaty of Portsmouth formally ended the 1904 05 Russo-Japanese War. The Russian and Japanese delegations stayed at Wentworth by the Sea (where the armistice was signed), and were ferried across the Piscataqua River each day to the naval base in Kittery, Maine, where the negotiations were held.
Wentworth by the Sea is an ideal venue for couples and family breaks and is also a premier destination for meetings, conferences and weddings. If you found this review helpful please click on the Like symbol below.
Nice room, great water view, super-comfy bed, great service!
We always come here for our family Christmas-time breakfast. The decorations are always over the top and so much fun to walk through the halls to see them all. One in particular is the huge gingerbread house that they construct every year. We have the best time every time we come here. I have also visited the spa in the past which was another greatl experience.
This hotel is such a gem. From the townhouse suites to the marina, from the waterfront to the gazebos to the wine room, it s such a beautiful New England site. My mother was married here a few months ago so this will always hold a special place in my heart, and who knows, maybe I ll head back there ASAP!
One of the best hotel and spa up north for a romantic getaway with a great restaurant and bar on site. Many amenities including pool, tennis courts, and pictures views of the harbor and Atlantic ocean. Minutes from Downtown Portsmouth, NH. beaches and shopping. Good staff and great service.
Nice restaurant with a great view of the docks. Bit pricey though
Second start in 7 months and it's become the go to place for special events. Wonderful accommodations, and the restaurants are stellar.
Seriously overpriced room: it was dusty, and small and the bed was basically like sleeping on a cotton taco. The ac unit was so terribly loud when it turned on it would jolt me awake everytime. The shower water faucet and temperature control were basically falling off the shower wall. The towels were threadbare and we had a lovely barking dog one evening that stretched into midnight. It took two calls to the desk for someone to address the problem. The drinks at the pool were watered down and overpriced. We got the tortilla chips with salsa and guacamole and it was all the broken chip pieces from the bottom of the bag and tiny servings of condiments. The only thing that made it worth staying was the pool. The front desk told us not to go to the outdoor pool at night because it was dangerous. What does that even mean? Portsmouth is awesome tho. Marriott you can do better.
Great experience, even with pandemic restrictions in place. Beautiful property with great service. We visiting at the end of August, and while everyone was taking precautions, it still ended up being a pleasant experience.
Fantastic place for either having dinner or just grabbing a drink
WiFi service was bad but other than that a great experience
Had dinner at SALT. Food was OK, staff was very friendly. Will probably go back but for breakfast/brunch or lunch.
Great stay, a nice view of the water and a ten minute scenic drive to Portsmouth via 1-b. Room was clean and service was excellent.
We ate at Salt, the hotel bar. The food was delicious and the drinks were great
Such an amazing hotel. Stayed on the fourth floor and had an amazing view of the lake. Very quiet room and comfortable beds.
Beautiful decor, incredible service, waiter was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. (Salt) prices were fair for the experience.
Very clean quiet beautiful view Staff was very courteous and kind
Thanksgiving at the Wentworth... A tradition like no other.
Provided us with toothbrushes and toothpaste as we had forgotten. Accommodations were beyond comfortable and the atmosphere was pleasant.
Latitudes restaurant is a fantastic place to eat. They have great food. Unbeatable Ambiance with Gorgeous water views.
Nice location if you are coming here for vacation. It is historic and beautiful. I stayed here as Marriott Platinum Ellite and got a great service. Staff is wonderful and really cares for the guests. However, if you are a business traveller, it may not be a good fit. Takes a lot of time to reach after taking exit from I95, No HBO or any premium channels, they have a big restaurant but buffet is only on the days they have enough people. The platinum lounge is seasonal and I found only water, juice and soft drinks.
Stayed at the marina. Very nice property, great bar and lobby.
Everything we needed for a quick getaway from Boston. Easy parking after a not-too-long drive, a spa and restaurants onsite so we could just relax. We tried just about everything they had to offer except the outdoor pool (which hadn't opened yet). Indoor pool was packed and they just had one changing room. I recommend you change before coming down. Restaurants were pretty good. We ended up ordering in one night because they were fully booked. So of course I recommend you make a reservation if you want to be seated. Ditto for the Spa, which was also fully booked for most lengthy treatments. They were only able to do a 25 minute express massage, but that's all she needed. The rooms themselves are spacious and most have good views of the water. It's not exactly walking distance into the town center, so plan on driving around to get where you need to go.
Love the Wentworth! Recently planned a family reunion weekend here for almost 40 family members and everyone had an amazing time. Kathleen in event planning was amazing in helping me pull it all together...even with a few last minute changes to some rooms! SALT bar/kitchen is delicious and wait staff was super accommodating to my family unexpectedly taking over the bar one night when it was pouring rain outside. Rooms were beautiful and room service was fast. Fourth time staying here over the years and each time is better than the last. Thanks again from my whole family! We hope to stay with you all again.
I do not know whom to blame. We booked the suite for two nights. When we checked in they gave regular room with two beds in it. This was about 11: pm. About midnight someone opened the door and came in and left. The smoke detector had light blinks when ever I moved at night. Day tome it was not. Four in the morning they came to the room again. Short story I was not able to sleep. They may have our naked pictures too. Next morning we came to take the gifts our key was cancelled out.
Never again. Goodbye Marriott.
Excellent brunch, beautiful location. Would highly recommend.
Beautifull resort, friendly staff, its a Marriott. 10 mins away from Portsmouth. 15mins from Rye beach and 35mins from hampton beach.
Hi I want to say that my wife and I had a great time the weekend of the February 22-24. The day of our anniversary. This became our new place for us to come and spend time together. Great service, great food, and great atmosphere. Can't wait to be there again during the summer, or the future. Great Hospitality. Looking forward to the future.... thank you.

Alot of money for small burger. The bun was dry and falling apart.
The service and food are very good. The view from the room is very pretty. I spent hours in the indoor pool with my son. I expected the pool to be a little warmer but they have a smaller pool type hot tub to relax and warm up. They have a classic decor, the whole hotel looks like a castle. The building is very old but the room and bathroom were recently renovated and were clean and well maintained.
Was there in an event room for a wedding. The staff was very polite and courteous. The food and drink were on point.
A must see and stay for any trip to New England if you're in the New Hampshire and or Maine area. Has one of the best restaurant "Salt" in New Hampshire, great food and excellent service.
Overpriced with significantly reduced amenities. No indoor pool, gym, buffet breakfasts, etc. Food was okay, but also overpriced. Cocktail drinks were served in very small disposable cups (think dentist spit cups) and priced as normal cocktails...no housekeeping or room cleaning for a 5d stay.. decor was stained. Positive was good ppe practice
Wonderful stay. Pool is small and loud. Wish they had an adult pool and a separate family pool for the kids.
the indoor pool is not only stunning to look at, but surprisingly large. watching the snow fall thru the many windows while taking a winter swim is a special treat .
The hotel is stunning. The pool is nice. Great food is served
Our favorite place! Beautiful hotel. Service is fantastic!
Staff was very professional and polite. Dinner and dessert were exceptional
Very nice hotel, great location, just hard to find - no sign. Nice old school charm.
Friendly staff, decent sized rooms, excellent Sunday breakfast buffet, indoor pool and outdoor hot tub.
Attended the Wentworth by the Sea Annual Christmas Buffet for the 3rd year in a row and could not have been more disappointed this year. We were the last round of reservations at 5 but thought the quality would still be the same since they were taking reservations until then. They ran out of prime rib and started rationing smaller portions, had maybe 3 cheeses to choose from, the salad bar was bare and picked through, no raw oysters, no omelet bar, and the food they did have was cold. By the time we got to dessert, there were maybe 3 options to choose from which included a smashed cheese cake. Our whole dinner lasted maybe an hour because they stopped putting out food and started cleaning up. This was not worth the money and extremely disappointed because this is something we usually look forward to every year.
An amazing stay with an amazing experience!!
Very clean very maintained place and extremely up-to-date with very friendly staff.
