Not a terrible shop, but seems to be full of well meaning stoner snowboarders that make a lot of small mistakes. I would advise people that choose to come here to pay close attention to prices and transactions and to keep receipts because they are likely to make oversites that will probably cost you money. 2 of the four purchases I and my girlfriend made over two days we were in town they nearly overcharged us - either by double scanning an item or misplacing or messing up rental documents, both times we were the ones to point out the mistake, and both times had to press until they realized the mistake, which they quickly corrected. Got a demo set up here and when I came back to try a different board the rental shop guy in the back made a big stink about scratches I made in the board. It was my mistake, but I don't think it was necessary to make me feel untrustworthy and to be rude about it in the way that he was. I don't believe any of the issues I had with the shop were malicious on their part, but I wouldn't go back.

I would give zero stars if it was possible. I reserved a board that they told me they had in the back. Turns out they flat out lied and sold it before I even reserved it and lied to get me into the shop. Tried a classic bait and switch. They then had the audacity to tell me they carried other better boards that I should buy and that the one I wanted was not even good. they then proceeded to tell me that I did not know what I was talking about and hung up on me.

The best snowboard equipment available, with a staff that can answer any of your questions, from technical stuff to where to ride on a given day. Plus free wax for your board!
We drop off our boards for tune-ups after riding and they are done by 7:30am the next morning for pickup.
We just went in to buy a replacement lens that jumped off on Chair 25. After asking for the specific lens that was lost, the counter guy (sorry, forgot his name) recommended another lens...since then, my wife has used this lens far more often than the one she replaced. Thanks guy whose name we cannot recollect..
If you need it or want it, Wave Rave will provide it.

Not the best selection for little kids, but I do understand we are in Mammoth. Good selection for adults.

Free waxes when the sign is lit up outside...we checked this out and the employee was great at the wax job.

The service is not stable...some employees are exceptional and others are like pulling strings when cash is falling out of your pocket. This is the major downside of the store.

Asked to repair my snowboard boots lace. The guy was super unfriendly and sad he can t. As I asked for recommendation he didn t know any. Finally the mountaineering store in town fixed it. So for any boot repairs go there.

So on the day i went to go rent with my cousin's, the boards and equipment were banged up and scratched. I knew something was wrong. For a performance board, the cost was 40 dollars so that is what i did. The boards were scratched and destroyed and the boots were peeling. It was horrible. To actually get good equipment, you had to pay 80 dollars. What the hell. So the next day, i went boarding and guess what happened, i fell and almost hurt myself. I couldn't even control where the board was going. So i am on the road to go back to the renyal place to get a full refund. Whatever you do, don't go there. Please.

if you like dealing with hungover useless employee...

if you like dealing with hungover useless employees that are unhelpful and think they are better than you because they live on a mountain then this is the place for you. if you like antiquated rental gear and bad attitudes then you might like the habitat for douches. The guy Ron that works there is completely useless. I hope they get government aid for hiring people that are "special".

Bought a pair of boots and some new bindings here a few weeks back, and had a small issue with it on the mountain today with one of the bindings. I brought it in and Frank and Joey replaced them no questions asked. This place has awesome service, the team is super knowledgeable, and everyone's really friendly. If you're looking to buy or demo anything in Mammoth, this is the place to come.

It was the day after the January 16th, 5 foot stor...

It was the day after the January 16th, 5 foot storm and I had forgotten a crucial GoPro mount at home. I went in and was told they didn't sell what I needed. I was totally bummed. However, their employee, Kai, is a hero and went upstairs to his personal bag and took out the exact mount I needed and just handed it over, no charge. Thanks Man!

***** BE CAREFUL****** Me and my family have rented our gear from this store for 8 years! And this year a girl tried to rip off my husband. When my husband was checking out one of our family members noticed that she changed him $80....when it was $20. My husband ask the girl for the recipient and she said she couldn't print it. So my husband went on his phone and check how much he was charged. And yup he was charged $80. My husband then shows the girl and she couldn't saying anything just look at him like she just got caught. Turns out the girl charged him $80 because she pocketed $60 of him money by doing a cash back and keeping his money. It's lukcy for her that my husband is a forgiving man! Or we would have reported this to the police. But they have definitely lost me and familys business . Definitely not the way we wanted to start off our yearly trip.

I called to see is I left my sunglasses in the store the night before and I gave 2 specific places I would have left them. The guy on the phone said they didn't have them in the lost and found so they didn't have them. I showed up 20 minutes later to check those 2 spots for myself and there they were. Come on.

Went to Wave Rave to purchase new boots and a few odds and ends but left with nothing because I was so disappointed in the service that I wanted to give my business to anyone else. Walking in we were halfheartedly greeted by a staff member who wasn't even looking at us and who proceeded to complain to a fellow staff, apparently our reply of "good thanks" wasn't good enough and he needed us to know. The only staff members we saw for our entire visit were all busy playing with an indo board (balance training board). We went upstairs to try on shoes and saw no staff, we were there trying boots on for at least 30 minutes and no staff made their way upstairs to check on customers but could be heard loudly playing below. Multiple people tried to access the changing rooms to try things on and could not because no staff was around to help them so they put them back as it was awkward to interrupt the playing staff. I gave my business to the shop a few doors down as the staff was welcoming and helpful. Disappointing, will not be back.

The staff had the screw I needed to fix my bindings and didn t charge me a penny for the hardware or the fix. They also gave me advice on why my binding screws were getting loose on the mountain. I recommend this place for any snowboarder.

First time renting here and was nice to have a sno...

First time renting here and was nice to have a snowboard specialist store. Staff were generally helpful and friendly but a little short on advice and some a little condescending.
Equipment was a little beat up as expected for rentals however the price was reasonable.
Attention to detail is lacking.
Wanting to trust the experience of shop staff I didn't question their knowledge since they deal with the equipment all day and they should know better.
First visit, got a Burton Flight Attendant board and Cartel Binding. I realised that the bindings are too big and I ended up adjusting them as best I could on the mountain. The toe strap would not tighten enough on minimum size.
Second visit, came back to get binding swapped to a medium fit. They replaced with a Burton Custom Medium. Thought it was all good except I realised they set the high back too far forward for the forward lean adjuster to mate with the base frame. It missed the back and regardless of which setting I used it mis-aligned and fell into the frame.
Third visit, got the high back re-adjusted but it was too far back which stopped it in a forward max position even on the lowest setting.
Anyway after all that I ended up making the adjustments myself after looking up the Burton manual on the internet.
All in all i would say in some part I should have been more assertive in making sure my equipment was properly fitted before leaving the store.
Ultimately I say do your research but also rental stores should be more helpful and patient with less experienced riders.
Regardless, after all the back and forth, I had a great day on the mountain once the issues were dialled in. I know what to look out for when buying my next board and binding.
When returning my board I was talking to Nate and he found out I didn t have a great experience having to come back multiple times for equipment adjustments. He refunded the rental fee. Thank you!

It is a sports shop with a focus on skateboarding / snowboarding. But you also get MTBs and the associated equipment. In addition, the shop is run by a very nice crew, who is open to chatting and a good tips for staying in Mammoth. There is also a nice selection of vans at great prices for Europeans.

I've been in this shop on multiple occasions and each time I have received horrible customer service. On 1 occasion we bought audio chips which didn't work, when we tried to return them the next day we were told they could not be exchanged. We had to send them to the manufacturer for exchange which took 2 weeks. On another occasion I called to see if they had something in stock and was told "yeah we should we usually do" and when I asked him to check he told me "no it's on the other side of the store and we're busy". They seem to only hire young punk kids with zero customer service skills!

Awesome guys with awesome work. Set me up with my first board about a year ago and I have been shredding ever since. They got my surfing riding style and gave me recommendations and options for what I want to do on the mtn which is wicked. Gnarly shop and would recommend it to any beginners wanting to get into the sport as well as more experienced riders needing trustworthy gear.

Great shop! It is Mammoths Snowboarding shop. Can be pricey on certain items but its not a chain and in a resort town, milk is a bit pricey at Vons too.
Maybe if the people on here that are complaining had a bit of patience and paid attention to return policies, which are clearly posted, they would have had a better experience.

Zero exchange policy! Wasn't expecting that... customer satisfaction not a concern to wave rave... used Dakine glove for 2 hours and they started to wear and tear on the tips. Kinda cheap for $60. I've been riding for over 10 years and never experienced this. Employees were helpful at first but rude after the fact... this stores policy is horrible...
