Waterville Valley Resort: Snowsports Review

A fun place to bring a family for skiing. The prices are not as good as they used to be.

Well groomed. T-bar lift to the top of the mountain is fun and manageable even for novice snowboarders. View is from a peak among other similar-sized peaks.

We skied here yesterday & today. The snow was pretty good, though there were icy patches, especially on the North side trails (Tippecanoe, Old Tecumseh). The weather was great, almost up to 50 today. One of the lifts broke down for about an hour today. It would be nice to have more ski racks near the lodges.

Decent amount of trails, lots of blues. A good amount of blacks as well. Good variety

I did not go during the winter season and instead we went in the summer a few years ago when I was 7months pregnant. We did a hike and camped off of the trail a little ways. It was a very nice area. The next day we went shopping in the village and had a meal (might have been because I was very hungry and pregnant) that was very delightful.

Family friendly, great views, lots of trail selection from beginner to expert. Trails were well groomed, and looks like they are expanding. Hoping to return!

The runs are excellent. Long enough and variable enough to have a great run down the mountain each and every time

Given its proximity to Boston (2h driving), Waterville is a pleasantly large mountain with a lot of higher level runs (also a lot of beginner runs too of course, but I ve found many of the mountains near Boston to be too beginner-heavy, which Waterville was a nice change from). Not very crowded either, which is great. Beautiful views at the top!

Outstanding weather day. Trails are in great shape. No lines at the lifts. They don't charge extra for the RFID card like many other mountains do. Their peak top lodge is a scenic and comfortable place for a break.

My favorite mountain in NH, because it's super laid back. Lodge food isn't to die for, but the Belgian waffle stand is. Came on a snow day and never waited in line.
Great views of the WMNF, but that's any mountain in the area. Ski shop was super helpful when my binding broke and it wasn't expensive to fix.

Edit: I've taken a star off, as April first is always dollar lift ticket day. Except I went up to ski and they moved the day because it fell on a weekend right after a snow storm. Kinda scummy

Went during opening weekend this year. Decent snow cover on the dozen trails that were open. Lots of space within the lodge. The best part was definitely David in the pro shop. I had a new pair of boots that didn't quite fit and David took the time to help fix my boot so I could enjoy opening weekend. He saw me later in the day and even checked up on me. That's an incredible level of customer service and I'll definitely be back.

Favorite place to ski growing up. It was so huge with unlimited variety and awesome conditions.

Good selection of runs for beginners through to double diamond. Snow blowers ensure there is plenty of snow. Was a great place to go skiing on Christmas day!

Family friendly and adorable resort. Really awesome mountain to learn on with progressive areas for beginners to graduate from and slowly pick up new skills. Also provides some great runs for intermediate - expert skiers. Truly a mountain for everyone

Very friendly and has many staff members willing to help. Good food but very expensive. My cheeseburger,fris ,and drinks were 20 $

The trails arent bad but they were poorly groomed, also the road and parking lots are not maintained at all and for cars that are not very good in the snow it can be really tough. The parking lots are nearly all ice.

Absolutely beautiful here! I was there for the SONH Winter game's! My daughter and I stayed in the black bear lodge. Very hospitable as well! Staff is all very friendly and helpful. These were my views from my windows in my suite!!!

Waterville valley resort is a great ski area. The owners always try to make it a better place, wether it s replacing a lift, renovating the lodge, or expanding the ski resort, ( The owners have done that all in just 4 years) they really care about the area and it shows. I don t know what Waterville Valley Doesn t have.

Not impressed. On the day I visited Waterville Valley, they only had two lifts open when all the other resorts around had all their lifts open. Waterville says it had to do with winds. Maybe winds should impact some lifts but every other resort was fully open. Also, conditions were terrible. So icy. I didn t see any of the modern snowmaking cannon machines I see at other resorts. Have they invested in the snow making infrastructure. It was 10 degrees out and they weren t even making a snow on the closed trails. The lodge was so dirty and run down. The condos at Tower Square were run down. Overall, I wouldn t spend another day skiing at Waterville Valley for the rest of my life.

Snow conditions were good, skiing was limited because of many closed trails. NE ski areas need snow.

Cozy village to shop & eat in while you wait for your lived ones to ski! The family enjoyed skiing as well.

Excellent riding, just wish the top lift wasn't closed.

Great day spent on the slopes following Superbowl Sunday. 47 degree temps in Feb helped..

This is a nice resort. Lots of activities available to do in a week. Options for trekking, kayaking. Overall the scenery is also very nice.

I ski. Very user friendly. Reasonable crowds even on the weekend.

Great family resort. Great trails and terrain parks, nice staff, delicious food, and a great place to be. one of the best all around mountains I have skied!!!!!

Good spring skiing. The icy/grassy patches could have been better marked, but to be expected with the season. Workers were friendly and accommodations weren't lacking.

Our daughter, and now son-in-law were married at Waterville Valley Resort earlier this month and I have to say it was everything we, and they could have hoped it would be. From the wedding coordinators, to the food, the covid restrictions which kept us all safe, rainy weather (which turned to sunshine after the wedding), their staff's ideas/suggestions/recommendations/flexibility were perfect! The bonfire the night before the wedding was supervised by WV staff, which left us enjoying the fire, the smores, and our first evening with family/friends outdoors. The accommodations and lodging were fantastic! The outdoor activities at WV Resort were enjoyed by all during our down time! You made it a wedding weekend to remember and for that we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Caught a trip up here after the storm. Found an excellent deal on liftopia for a weekday.

great day of skiing. I do wish that lesson prices were. lower though

Family of 4, boys aged 8&11. We skied 2 days and really enjoyed ourselves. We ate at T-bar restaurant which was good and barely waited in a lift line over the 2 full days (Monday and Wednesday) even though Wednesday was a crazy powder day.

Amazing place, didn't try the food, free FAST shuttle (every 30min)

Great trails and enough variety to keep me busy all day. The lifts can get shut down on windy days, so be aware of that, but this is a great mountain!

Tons of snow for the end of November. Snow on the ungroomed trails was deep, but a bit heavy...tough to turn. $35 for the day, and almost had the mountain to ourselves.

Very efficiently run resort that is short 2 hour drive from Boston, conditions were really good when i expected a lot of ice. Great views as well!

The hotel was very comfortable. The sky lodge should open there restaurant at 7: instead 8:30.

Great deals on liftopia here. Top notch ski area not too far from Boston.

What a pleasant little mountain! Small, but tons of trails! We had a great time here, and the views were spectacular. Great way to spend a whole day or an afternoon. I liked that there was a wide variety of easy, intermediate, and hard trails.

This resort is just fantastic! Always plenty of snow, well groomed and with trails for all levels. An added bonus (for us) there is also a cross country skiing trailhead right next to the base!

Fun, but close to everything was closed due to wind.

So fun!! From exploring Ciao, Oblivion, Green Peak etc to the enormous stone fireplace to TBars apres ski. What a fantastic day!!

End of November with mid winter conditions and inchs of fresh eastern powder galore for $35! This will likely be my best ski day all year. Too bad the bar wasn't opened yet.

Good for a beginner mountain, not much terrain past intermediate

Great mountain. Lots of trails to choose from. All were in good condition. The very occasional ice spot, but we haven't had much snow this year, so it's to be expected. Lodges were warn and not super crowded, even though it was school vacation week. The chairs are pretty slow besides the quad, but take the T-bar to the tippity top, the view is worth it!

Got a perfect day after snow and no crowds. A Thursday. Friendly place. Good for family

Fun mountain, lots of varying terrain, and the new peak spreads out the crowds a bit. Facilities are jam packed, though, so get there early if you need to store anything

I went to hike up Mt.Tecumseh, so I didn't actually visit the resort. The parking lots and trails were very well maintained tho. Beautiful scenery, and would definitely visit again in the future.

Clean lodge, good skiing, lots of free parking and bathrooms were adequate.

We consider Waterville our home mountain. Our kids learned to ski there we've had many great family weekends there. This week, however, we returned to a different experience. The main ski lift broke early in the day, was eventually repaired and then broke again for the remainder of the day. We complained and were denied refunds but were given vouchers for another day. But that doesn't make up for the lost ski day. All of the time and money spent getting there and back was wasted. We're told by a current season ticket holder that broken lifts for extended periods are more the norm than the exception these days at Waterville. We need to return again this season to redeem our vouchers and hope for a better experience.

My family and I have been going to Waterville for years. As a child I went with my parents and now I take my child. Always a great time.

Best full service winter resort in the east. Offers everything from alpine to nordic to ice skating. Great food and shopping too!

The place has a lot of potential. Rooms really need to be updated. And it would be nice if the bars stayed open past 10 o clock. Otherwise the restaurants were great and the views were beautiful

Waterville Valley is a fun ski area that offers a good variety of trails and is enjoyable for skiers for all levels. They have recently done some updates with lifts and trails to the mountain and we definitely plan on visiting again soon!

One of the better managed resorts in New Hampshire. Fun place, but a bit over priced, and not a ton of restaurant/bar choices for apres ski.

Some of the better skiing on the east coast. Fairly priced. Great for families as it s not too big, but still big enough to enjoy many routes down. The restaurants have decent food too! And the bars are fun with live music sometimes!

Despite the ongoing renovations, the lodge was a great place for us to hang out through the day. My daughter loved her first time skiing here. The staff was all friendly and helpful

Good mountain! Really liked how wide the trails are and all the beutiful scene that is offers compared to other mountains in the area. We also had te pretty good day with good snow!

Good hiking trails around it. Didn't actually go to waterville valley as they are closed for the season. Little surprised they don't offer some type of summer attractions...
