The Mother of All Battles to Make a Reservation

The Mother of All Battles to Make a Reservation
Be warned: trying to get a confirmed reservation here is like trying to get a straight answer from your health insurance company. I have made about 6 calls over about a month and still do not have a confirming email. Central reservations blames the Golden Eagle Lodge; the Lodge manager blames central reservations. One would think they would make it easy to do this. One would be wrong, wrong, wrong

Great selection of runs but can be windy at times and ice in the afternoon. But the prices for food and drinks are reasonable and the guides there are very helpful. The connections between the runs are easy to understand. Overall I had great fun.

Small mountain. Poor organization of buildings. Rude staff. Nobody was at the information counter when I was looking for assistance and couldn't find anyone. The bar was closed all day too and I have no idea why.

Had to wait an hour or two for the lift to the top of the mountain to open due to high winds. During that time, only one lift was open and it was a ridiculous wait to get on it, only to go halfway up and have the option of a green or blue trail. The black diamonds were very easy trails. Once the main lift did open, it was fun cruising down the trails with good snow. We were able to just ski on each lift. It's a good mountain for casual skiers and snowboarders, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone looking for a challenge. I was also told, due to their location, high winds at the top is a common problem at this mountain. Call beforehand to ask how many lifts will be open that day before going.

Waterville valley? Yes, it's great.
The trails are all nice. Get there nice and early and you can get 2 hours of nice groomed trails and no lines. Yes, on the weekends it will get crowded, however the staff does a great job of running the lines quickly on White Peaks. Lodges can be crowded, however. But I think this area is definitely worth visiting. After all, it's my personal favorite.

Have been here in summer 1999 Our stay for a week with fellow international students through Harvard Uni was memorable Saw the pics here One trail was amazing so was the ice rink and little pond and shops around Would never forget the kindness of lady on the US Mail counter So helpful and humble
Snowy Owl Inn was our residence and even in summer with very few visitors the shuttle would run regularly and promptly
I wish I could come here again especially in winters
Many good additions and improvements have made the valley even more attractive
Lovely place lovely people

I normally love Waterville. Yesterday sucked. I hyper extended both Achilles's tendons due to a chunk of ice on the trail. Nobody's fault. Managed to ski down, but the day was done. No refund (policy), but I had a hard time getting my $5 deposit on the RFID ticket. Next, because they noticed that I was clearly hobbled and in pain they had me walk down two flights of stairs and across a parking lot to the medical station. This took me about 15 minutes without anyone offering help. The office was closed.

Good skiing. New trail pod looks interesting but not entirely open lacking snowmaking. Poor utilization of lift capacity by having valley run hsq and triple for green peak. Base layout is awful for beginners families and children. Have to hike 4 flights of stairs to get to magic carpets. Beginners chair is a mile away. Awful experience at entrance from dropoff to Lodge where employees are smoking.

There needs to be areas to hang out outside - not everyone wants to spend money and sit in Bucket's closed off outdoors area. Seems like every ski area besides WV has picnic tables, fire places, seats to encourage socialization at the bottom of the lifts, etc. Found myself eating my lunch under melting snow while sitting on a thin bench up against the lodge.

December 15, 2018: Mid season like conditions, no lines at lifts, decent value on beer, and discounted lift tickets on Liftopia. Overall Waterville Valley delivered a great experience worth the money. Note, this does not take into account rental gear, not sure what those prices are like.

The skiing was alright, they didn't have good enough trail upkeep and our friend got stuck at a mountain because of precariously positioned boulders that nobody thought to move. I also rented skis and they messed up the size not once, but twice and i wound up going down the mountain, you guessed it, twice, with a boot out of my ski. Not that good.

The term "Free Wifi" was used incorrectly here. There's no WiFi whatsoever, the most you can get in your room is one bar. Bathroom is filthy with peeling walls. Claustrophobic-feeling rooms. Workers aren't as friendly and helpful. Furniture smells horrendous and frankly, I'm afraid to use the silverware!

No obligations whatsoever. The location for skiing and snowboarding was solid. I must say that it is was ice skating and felt like home for a minute. This place has high mountain ranges for skiing, and it felt great, especially travelling there for the third time!

Mountain has a great layout, awesome trails, straightforward connecting trails, and the new terrain is awesome... BUT, the staff is literally unresponsive in the morning before lifts open and the snow report is usually VERY misleading. Last time I went, there was one lift open with access to 3 trails, then it failed so none were open. Today there's a fairly high potential for wind hold again, and the snow report states, MAYBE there will or will not be a wind hold. A WORD FOR MANAGEMENT: Your customers are driving 1.5 - 3 hours to ski, the very LAST thing we want to arrive to is one lift or potentially no lifts open. HAVE SOMEONE ANSWERING THE PHONE IN THE MORNING, so customers can call and ask questions about conditions before we waste our time driving to a closed mountain.

Friendliest staff anywhere! Happy at their jobs. Best groomed slopes in New England. Skiers and riders all very conscience. Great for families with young skiers and riders. Excellent amenities.

First time back in 25yrs. Nothing, absolutely nothing has changed here. No expansion, no growth no modernization of any kind. No drive required just take the Hot Tub Time Machine. Wear some neon colors, rear-entry boots and your dad's straight skis because it's always 1986 here! Just where I left it.
