The system smelled outside around the tank lids from the outset, we had two backups where sewage came into the main floor washroom, and we have had intermittent sewage smells (especially when its windy) inside the house which seem to be getting worse. We have been working with an expert service person (after parting ways with the installer). It is surprising that Waterloo would have installers who are not competent. Waterloo got me in touch with a top notch service person who has been struggling to help sort out these problems. What is most gauling is Waterloo's lack of responsiveness to my concerns. They say that it is an inside problem when it clearly involves at least some smell outside. Note that their website says that their systems do not smell. Well it does and its embarassing when people visit! I would not recommend that you send all that money for this system!

We at Kingsborough Home Construction have just finished installing our third Waterloo Biofilter system and couldn't be more pleased with the system. We have installed concrete and plastic tank systems and both are fairly easy to install. Their customer service and technical support is second to none.

I have just had my engineer change our site plans to the Biofilter system for my own home.

Good product, good company!

Hillary reached out and addressed my concerns below quickly and thoroughly. My feedback for future improvement was also requested. Happy with the level of service.

The tech was friendly and returned our property to the same condition as when he arrived. The report is through however as an uneducated home owner I have no idea what it means. The card left at my door said we scored in the yellow...I expected something in the report would tell us what to do to get back to green....its does not. So far basic google searches on the terms used in the report have turned up empty. I pay a significant annual charge for these maintenance checks, results I can action upon don't seem like too much to expect.

I installed a Waterloo biofilter septic system at my new constructed property by an authorized installer in 2016 and moved in and started using it in 2017. Installation cost me almost $50K plus annual maintenance. Recently the pump broke down and it cost me $1500 just for new pump plus installation as installer said it doesn't get covered by warranty. Contacted Waterloo customer service, apparently the warranty of the pump by their supplier was only for two years from the date of installation regardless of when the system started to be used but they stood behind their product and covered the cost of the pump. It is great that a company stands behind their products and customer like that.

We have owned a Waterloo Biofilter system for 5 years now. The system works very efficiently, and the shed is simple, inconspicuous and blends into our landscape nicely. We had a couple of service issues that arose, however Hillary and the team at Waterloo have addressed them, and we are completely satisfied with the product and service that we have received. We would certainly recommend this environmentally friendly system to anyone!

This system is a nightmare. We have had nothing but problems since it was installed. They want to charge you $300 a year for a maintenance contact for a 20 min visit, but if you have an issue it s $150 for someone to come out plus $90 an hour after that. Our alarm goes off all the time and they won t give us the access code to our own system. It s terrible, and they are crooks. No one else will service them, so once you have one, you are stuck with them. Don t cancel it though, it will be an additional $75 to sign up again. I would recommend to everyone I know in my rural community not to get one of these systems.

Edit Aug 2020- we had more issues with the system smelling over the fall and winter. When I spoke with Julia at Waterloo, she told me we were on the list for a Spring inspection. Although at times the sewage smell was overwhelming, I was ok with waiting, as we are in the middle of a pandemic.
In June, the technician came, told us that silicone needed to be put around the roof of the shed. He told my husband that we could do it ourselves.
After a day or so, we decided that it wasn't a good idea to do this work ourselves. Neither of us wanted to make a mistake which may lead to further issues. I called Waterloo and again spoke with Julia, I told her the issue and she let me know that someone would be here to deal with the issue.
The technician arrived here about a week ago after I called and spoke with two different people more than 5 times and left a message. (about 6 weeks after the initial service call)
He put silicone around the roof of the shed and shortened the time the pump runs.
This brings us to Friday August 14th at 4:30 I received an emailed invoice
and notice that me credit card had been charged for almost $300. This was for a service call and silicone. I was never once told by phone that this would happen. The work should have been done at the annual maintenance inspection.
We called and emailed on Friday and have heard nothing all day. I am sorely disappointed with the Waterloo system and the customer service. I regret having this system installed.

We had a waterloo system installed last summer. The installation process was longer than anticipated (a third party contractor does the install). Once I had to deal directly with the company though it was smooth sailing. We had a bit of an issue in the early Spring with some smell coming from the shed occasionally. When we had our service call they installed more filters and no more smell. Really happy with the company and the product.

We were very pleased with the one-year inspection of our new Waterloo septic system that Brandon and Don carried out last August. We are on an island so getting to the site itself is somewhat challenging. Brandon and Don arrived right on time and did a thorough inspection efficiently. Both technicians were personable, professional, and knowledgable. We are looking forward to their visit next August.
