They adopt first come first served not best fit. Drove all the way out to see a dog arriving an hour and a half after they opened on the first day she was available, and she was already being adopted by someone else even though I sent in an inquiry about her saying I was very interested and wanted a hold so I could meet her. Apparently they don't do holds until you have met the dog. Not a very good system if you're trying to find a specific type of dog. The adopt staff also didn't bother to contact me back from the inquiry I sent or my message I left asking to be called back to know how the meeting went with the dog and another family, and if she would still be available. They didn't seem very interested in working with me. Guess families are they only people who can adopt dogs in their eyes. Sucks for all us single people who are hoping to find a furry life companion.

I've adopted several pets here, and some from other organizations. I'll now only adopt from from here! It's so clean, the animals are actually healthy and happy, and the employees and volunteers actually seem to like being there.

I understand the need to be critical of people adopting pets but I made a trip to this location to adopt a cat and fell in love with a beautiful cat named huntress and asked if a could meet her and hang out with her in one of the interaction rooms. The attendant stayed in the room with me and my family the entire time saying stuff like oh the cat doesn't seem to like you and I don't think I can allow you to adopt her. I do love the things they do for animals in my area but wish the people they let volunteer would be held to the same standard

Great place. Clean kennels, decent selection of animals (double edged sword, I know, but they need homes and it helps you find the best fit your yours), and friendly staff.

Wait time to adopt can take a while, but go play with a kitten or watch a movie with the kids in the TV room while you wait.

Can buy good starter food and stuff for the animals you are getting.

If you adopt they collect a fee for animal control...

If you adopt they collect a fee for animal control even if you don't live in the city. It cost 30 dollars for a pet license for la center and I"m 10 miles outside the city!! And they would not let me adopt unless i paid it. Typical non profit scam set up funnel money and scam the residents of the city. This place accepts huge donations but still charges to take your pet, no wonder people just abandon theirs instead of paying for the humane society to take them. Then they charge a ton of money to adopt them. The point of the humane society is to HELP ANIMALS not line the pockets of a bloated, over payed administration that pawns their responsibilities of on volunteers. The dumbest thing is they end up here anyway when someone picks them up as a stray, but in poor health so it ends up costing the MORE in the long run.

Great volunteers and employees. First time we have gotten a pet here, and it was a good experience. The animals all seemed well cared for, and in good health. We got a brother and sister pair of 2 year old cats. They have been great with our kids!

A very nice, clean shelter Staff greets you with a smile. The surrender area can be quite stressful and heartbreaking for the staff, yet they are always kind.

The staff is very knowledgeable and if they don't know the answer to a question, they find someone who does.

This shelter is always evolving and becoming better and better. The take great pains not to euthanize any animals.

HORRIBLE Customer service and RUDE staff. I am not sure if they getting customer service training, but the young girls at the desk are very rude, talk right in front of people as if they aren't there, take their sweet time in getting back to you, and are generally not too sympathetic. I really would go anywhere but here, in order not to support this organization. I have a charity fund and will not ever be supporting a group like this. The animals look miserable and not cared for, which is heart breaking.

Doing their best to help animals in need. Facility is clean and employees are friendly. The wait times can be rather long and you should plan on the adoption process taking time. Be prepared to see animals you like be adopted by others. The facility tries to keep the availability cards updated but disappointment happens.

KILL "SHELTER" !!! I am writing this through tears of sadness and anger.....June 2nd my neighbor and I took a 2 year old beautiful, healthy, orange kitty (that had been left by her owner) in to get her adopted. We had taken care of her outside for 4 months, but was I moving and wanted her to have a loving home. I filled in a 2 page paper on her personality and how she would be a wonderful indoor/ outdoor cat , would not be good around children, but was sweet to adults. I cried while I was there and told them I loved her, but wanted better for her, stating I wanted them to call me if she didn't get adopted in time. We spent some time loving on her before we left. They assured me that I could keep up with her progress and adoption so I went home. I took time to check every day to look for her with the reference number they gave me.....fast forward to today, June 18th I call to see why she wasn't in the system yet, only to be told they euthanized her due to "aggressive behavior"!!!! I am literally sick to my stomach and so mad at myself for trusting in this place!!! I WILL NEVER trust this place again ....my first time ever using them and DEFINITELY MY LAST!!! This kitty lived among all of our apartment tenants for 4 months, was loving and calm, and did not deserve to be put down! My number is on that paperwork and she deserved to be given a chance, even if you were to full to accommodate her or whatever your problem is! Literally SICK to my stomach!!!

I'll start my review with an asterisk. My experience is primarily been during COVID 19, however even given that it's been a little bit frustrating. My son has waited years, until his 18th birthday in fact, to get a canine companion. For whatever reason we filled out several forms, for a couple different dogs, and I can't seem to get a response back.
Enter I even went so far as to call and leave messages, and the response I got back from that was to fill out a form, which I'd already done. Although the form says I'll hear back within 5 days, the only responsive received was 10 days to let me know that the dog had already been adopted.
Again this might be exclusively because of COVID, but that's the extent of my experience.

My dog was brought in by strangers after I had to forcefully rehome her. She was again rehined by the person I had let take my baby. Believing I would one day bring her home. They said they would try putting her up for adoption and when she ended up going back cuz of things I understand as her mommy, Kayla called me and said we could have her cremated and bring her home. Kayla apparently screwed me and didn't put it in the notes so my dog is laying in a garbage bin somewhere. I was told I could bring her ashes home and it was a lie!! You failed a little girl who has been looking forward to at least having her dog's ashes so we could have closure!! Everett animal shelter isn't even that bad!! And they murder animals for fun!

The Humane Society is the most amazing and loving place. Every staff member and volunteer truly cares about every animal and wants to find them the perfect home. This shelter shows you the meaning of love at first sight. I would go back for my next dog in a heart beat. I would get another dog from the shelter today if I had more space. It was amazing to me just how much people in the shelter knew about every dog that was up for adoption. They made the adoption process so rewarding!

My husband and I walked in, expecting to just take a look at what dogs were available and make our way off to go kayaking. We didn t expect to fall in love with a dog and bring him home... but that s what we did. The staff were all incredible and the building was well maintained. It s very obvious that everyone there cares a lot for the animals. I m very proud of my local Humane Society and I won t stop referring people to them.

From the client side: Very clean, compassionate staff/volunteers, and well organized. We adopted a sister for our husky pup and they were very accommodating re: our need for a meet and greet with the dogs. We weren't pressured to make a snap decision, or held to an arbitrary standard, but allowed space to make the choice that was right for our family. Our journey involved a couple meetings before we found the right pup to bring home, and the only negative thing I have to say is I felt the volunteers were a little quick to call off a meet and greet if they sensed even a bit of hesitation in one of the animals... maybe because they were busy and wanted to move on if it wasn't an match, or maybe it's a liability issue. Either way, there were a few times I'd have preferred to have given the dogs more of a chance to work things out, rather than relying solely on one dogs' very first impression of the other. Meet and greets are so artificial and awkward, a little hesitation on the part of a dog who has already been through an awful lot even before landing at the shelter and is probably quite outside their comfort zone, seems normal to me. I didn't argue because i didn't want to antagonize the staff, but, I felt some potentially good matches were not made because of it at each of the shelters we visited. That said, we are thrilled with the pup we did bring home, and love her to peices. She was worth waiting for :-)
