I didn't have the best experience here. Some teachers displayed blatant favouritism. I was snapped at and spoken to rudely and another student could ask the same thing and be spoken to nicely. Immature on the teachers part.

I am a student at the college now and I must agree that the good reviews are from staff. I came to this college wanting to change my carrier and I have had nothing but trouble. I've had students damage my car thinking they were funny and the so called site security did nothing even do they were in the area. The so called security are not even SIA trained and that is illegal, I know this for a fact as I am SIA trained and this is my current job since 2004. Students are dealing in the site, students think it's funny to bring in knives and staff are as useful as a chocolate tea pot. So due to this I am leaving and fully recommend any and all people to AVOID this college.

I only give the college a one star because I can't give it zero. If you're considering wvr I would seriously reconsider! I was part of a course with a distinct lack of communication between staff and students as well as between staff in general. Teaching is substandard with work going unmarked before submission to external exam boards so students don't know where they stand.
I gave the college the benefit of the doubt after my first course and progressed with them as my tutor had left but the next level was more of the same, if not worse. My work was promised to be externally marked and I would know if I had passed or not by the end of August but I'm still waiting as they have not sent it off yet... I'm sure there will be a plethora of excuses.
I have decided to progress my education elsewhere and I'm so thankful that I have as I have heard that they have changed the scheduling of the next course less than 3 weeks before it was due to begin citing 'tutor availability'... Again!

if i had a nickname for this college, I would call it Warrington and Heaven Royal College. I'm a student here and I love my Multiskills course. My favourite is the Electrics section so far. The teaching is absolutely spot on and I mean Fab-u-lous! I am a massive WVR fan because I love College to bits. Massive thankyou. I Love you Warrington and Vale Royal College so much.

where do I start ? I have been messed about by admissions, they don't know which course is full and which isn't, I chased my course application many times and couldn't get through, left various messages which had no response, finally I was offered a course interview for a electrician course, a few days later I received an email saying 'sorry its full' I then told admissions that I was interested in plumbing as a backup course, they organised a plumbing interview for me and I booked the morning off work so I could make sure I was well prepared. When I arrived the tutor looked at me blankly, he wasn't even aware of a interview & told me the course was full, so I had booked time off work and travelled there because of the incompetence of admissions. Consequently because I was messed about I am now to late to apply for other colleges for this new academic year..... thanks Warrington collegiate

Rated as the best college in Cheshire, it is also in the top 6% overall for pass rates and the top 2% overall for English and Maths results. If that doesn't give you confidence, nothing will! :) It's also a nice place with modern facilities.

I get the feeling it's a collegiate because they can't legally call it a college. A teacher left after year 1, the other after year 2, they were never properly replaced. Work was lost. The list goes on. It may look nice from the outside and the facilities are good but the management is abysmal, you could learn more by hitting your head against any hard object repeatedly and it would take a fraction of the time

I was picked on by a bunch of different chavs, quite a few days there. There'd also be hundreds of discarded cigarettes outside the main entrance everytime I entered the premises, likely left behind by all the tobacco-addict students. Once I got into the classrooms, I wouldn't be able to hear myself think from all of the coughing and spluttering from fellow students, and even some of the teachers, as I was trying to focus diligently on my workload. Every so often throughout the day, a big hoard of 20+ year old perverts would congregate outside the main entrance, waiting for their 16 year old girlfriends to leave the building, but I suppose if you could tolerate all this, it was a halfway adequate place to study and socialise. And bear in mind, I attended from 2000-02, so maybe the overall calibre of students has improved since then.

There's a huge bullying problem at this college because they ignore it and don't take it seriously. It's one of those colleges where they only care about their reputation and not the wellbeing of any students. I am so unhappy on my Level 3 Applied Science course. If you want to study science, I urge you to go to another college - this is an incredibly toxic environment. In addition to that, the teaching is poor. In science, we only have one teacher to teach three classes because the other one recently left. We miss out on a lot of teaching and are often sent to the library to do independent work when usually we would be taught by another teacher.

Do not send your children here. Adult learners find a better place to learn, all they care about is the money and making it look like they're a good college. I have so many negative things to say about this college I'd struggle to fit it all in a novel.

Shocking teaching quality. The teachers seem to care more about their classes getting good grades rather than the students actually learning and achieving the grades themselves. This means they will essentially cheat and give out worked examples to students so students can change a few numbers and have the answers. I probably achieved a DM or DD (Distinction/Merit or Double Distinction) in my first year and I can't remember a damn thing they supposedly taught me because all of it was just copying down the teachers "worked examples". If you complain about a teacher expect nothing to happen/change, they don't care so long as the teacher has good grades in their classes at the end of the year.

Awful treatment of student with mental health issues. Their mental health team is patronising, lack luster and extremely under qualified. If you go to them with an issue don't expect anything other than some leaflets to other organisations and a half arsed attempt at sympathy. You might get to spend 15 minutes with a therapy dog but only if you're female because they don't seem to care about men's mental health in the slightest.

Bad communication. One minute you're supposed to be in college and the next you're told your teacher is self isolating and to await further instructions. 5 days go by and nothing has been said then all of a sudden you're put on half term holidays that you were not told about. If you want help from a teacher over email expect to wait 2-3 days and that's if you get a reply at all. After you finish your first year of whatever course it is you will not find out what grade you achieved unless you HOUND your tutors to find out and even then they might tell you to contact the people who run your course yourself (Pearson, probably) which takes weeks.

If OFSTED come in expect to be told how to act and be given a whole load of new information that you should have already been told but are only just being made aware of because it the college look better if you know. I didn't find out my predicted grade until 6 months into my course and I was randomly given a sticker with my predicted grade to put on my access card just in case an OFSTED agent spoke to me and asked me what it was.

All in all I think I would have been better teaching myself via YouTube videos and that's no exaggeration. Find another college and stay away from BTEC courses. Try and get a HNC or HND elsewhere or get an apprenticeship with a decent company that actually cares about your competency.

The students here have no respect for the general public and treat any space like a high school cafeteria, they're rude, obnoxious and make a god damn racket. Meaning that any member of public who comes across them is basically forced from the area.

Hopefully they won t remove my review, because I ve noticed a lot of staff members are reviewing their own work place!! And it s FAKE! This place is so unfair and has the worse problem with staff and students. If you don t care about getting a proper education, then this is your college. Horrible teacher performance and unethical to say the least! Look elsewhere.

DO NOT WORK HERE IF YOUR ARE A TEACHER.

DO NOT WORK HERE IF YOUR ARE A TEACHER.
The experience will make you want to quit the profession forever!
In a nutshell... long hours, moderate pay, huge class sizes, too many academically challenged students sitting courses that are way too advanced for them (but that is the result of 30 yrs of failing ofsted frameworks not failing schools), far too many events that eat up your already precious teaching time, persistent student absenteeism and no normal teacher holidays to mention just a few of the soul crushing and life zapping things that will make you mentally ill over time.
