Fantastic hotel in every way. Location is right on The Bund with the hotel's facilities, rooms, restaurant and service all outstanding. Has several restaurants, a bar, indoor swimming pool, gym and conference facilities. My room was very spacious and the bed comfortable. Some Asia hotels can have quite hard beds but mine here was medium soft for a perfect sleep.

The service attitude is very good, and there is a feeling of going home from the door to the hotel. Waiting a little while at check-in, there is a service staff to take snacks for the children to eat. The lobby is simple, clean and comfortable. The room is slightly smaller and slightly simple.

Having been at the Long Bar last night we were very disappointed. Apart from feeling very dated, the staff was inattentive and the wine we ordered were out, the alternative was spilled over our table while pouring, to few chairs at the bar and no one cared about dirty spots on the floor. would definitely not go again.

The hotel is glamorous, the location is superb - my room was facing the HuangPu River on the higher floor. Every single member of the staff is well trained to provide the service at the tip-top luxurious level.
Nothing to say more, just excellent! Personally, this is a "once in your life", at least , experience.

Quite possibly the nicest hotel I ve ever stayed at. Maybe the $20 Old Fashioned at the hotel bar, The Long Bar wouldn t be a worthwhile price tag stateside, but hearing jazz and talking to the bartenders in English for the first time in weeks was a really nice treat. Don t forget this is a Hilton property- book it with points!

This is a nice hotel but second time staying here they charged me no show fees both times! They seem to misunderstand the time zone difference. They will nickel and dime you on everything, from room service fees to extra hotel fees. This place is a waste of money, st Regis, the w and the 12 are all better places hotels.

Disgusting! Hair in the bathroom and dirty bed sheet.

Stayed here for 2 nights. The first night I found a long hair in the bathroom; the second night I found a huge dirt on the bed sheet at 1 AM. Manager came and changed the sheet but didn t apologize or show any intention of offering any compensation. Got extremely upset and didn t sleep well.

Filed a complaint to HHonor but the hotel manager didn t reach out to me until I showed up at 10:00 am at the front desk the next day. I asked to get one night charge back as a compensation, and they refused. Make it right is a lie. Hilton and Waldorf don t give a s**t about what customers think or how disgusting I felt.

Also I suggest Hilton change its name to Hairton . This is my 4th time getting a strangers hair. First three encounters all happened in the US. As they offered reasonable compensation, I won t mention their names.

This is truly an "experience" Hotel. The rooms are quite thoughtfully designed and incredibly comfortable. Little touches like the amenities always go a long way.

Staff across the whole Hotel are polite and do go the extra mile with trying to be helpful.

Recommended.

The staff are much kinder than in other Chinese hotels and ACTUALLY speak English (and well) - high quality experience, but then again, that s what you re paying for. Breakfast was great but definitely overrated - not worth 50 dollars by any means. There s a nice little cafe in the lobby which is expensive but worthwhile - excellent pastry s as well. Absolutely no complaints!

Exquisite - in absolutely every way. The hotel is a combination of buildings: a modern tower attached to the historical building directly on the Bund. This provides the perfect mix of a nostalgic feel from days-gone-by and modern luxury with numerous high end amenities.

Spacious rooms are elegantly decorated with available tech that stays out of the way until you want it. Turndown services includes fresh fruit. The historic building includes a 111-foot bar, taking up most of the south side of the building . one drink there and you feel a bit of the history to the city. Located directly on the Bund, the hotel is convenient to the city center and ample restaurants.

Arrivals by car do not enter from the Bund side of the hotel (the historic building), the alley side on the north-east has reception and receives those not on foot. I was looking forward to a grandiose arrival to the historic building off the main street. Any let-down from our alternate arrival was more than compensated by a western voice personally greeting me and my family. After 8 days in China, it was the warm greeting of arriving to a friends house.

Our group used both the pool and the workout room; both top notch.

Our stop was vacation. I will stay here again next time in Shanghai - be it for business or personal travel. I ve been lucky to travel to a number of countries. The Waldorf Astoria here is one of the top two hotels I ve ever stayed.

Grandeur of luxury place stunning with Please Que...

Grandeur of luxury place stunning with Please Queue Here sign board. what level of luxury? Waldorf Astoria?? In Shanghai, I have just checked out from W Shanghai at The Bund, it has been much better experience of service and obviously much better service level.
The only better thing at Waldorf Astoria Shanghai is heritage building, architect, interior and craftmanship in all works. Poor lighting design in the lobby and in the room though.
I had booked a suite for this stay. At check in the front desk tried to upsell for the hotel to get additional revenue of 1800 RMB for river view. He mentioned that the suite I booked has not nice view and not ready to check in. It is crucial rather than hospitable. I do not experience this often when chose other super luxury brands especially suite type of accommodation.
Most of the staff I encountered were like malfunction robot:
-The door keeper lady at heritage building never smiled, never greeted, not even eye contacted.
-The control panel at bedtop could not work. Light and air-conditioning system could not be adjusted. I called for staff to fix it. A lady dressed in smart costume came with an engineer told me, nothing was wrong and requested me to use the light switches and air-conditioning control unit on the wall instead. This is very unacceptable. I had to insist and the control panel was reset by plugged out an plugged in again.
-I went down for a refreshment at the lobby to enjoy the beautiful design of the Peacock Alley. I contacted a staff for table for two. She set me to sit in front of a fighting between a guest and her team for some unpleasant service. A glass of bubbly Moscato from the drink list was ordered. After a while the staff who took the order came to tell that my drink was finished and requested me to order some other thing else. A glass of champagne could be ordered but I started to hesitate whether this is a pleasant situation I can enjoy. She also said, Or You go to drink this at the Long Bar. I wondered if she knew this product was available at another outlet of her hotel, why didn t she went to get it and make it available per the Drink List of her outlet. To refer a guest to enjoy a basic service somewhere else is totally low level of service. I did not to ruin my holiday mood this way and simply stepped out of the outlet and try the Long Bar.
-At Long Bar, there was not such product No Surprise. I ordered A glass of wine on promotion of happy hour. The wine was not bad. In the middle of drinking wine, I was offered a short glass of cocktail together with a Tripadvisor card with a request for me to review on Tripadvisor. After I sip, I knew I did not like that cocktail but the staff had gone somewhere no more wine service after the empty glass. It was a bit hard to get staff attention and all my mood to enjoy the place had totally gone. It s such a pity such a beautiful place is occupied with this Waldorf Astoria service.
In my suite accommodation the light in the room could not be adjusted. Switch on some lamps were adjustable but the use of bulbs prevented the light to be dimmed down. Full bright or black out was only the option in the suite in the age of entering 2019. In fact no Bluetooth connection on any speaker. The old mini-compo only accepts CD and AUX which only links to the TV (All TVs are also small compared with any TV in other hotels I have experience this year.)
When I came down for the restaurant food, Ceasar Salad, Foie Gras, and basic pasta Cabonara were not bad but they did not understand the way the would serve Hendrick Tonic. Also Cosmopolitan was ugly. Breakfast has wide selection with some a la carte. The coffee and espresso was very good but Buttermilk Pancake served per my a la carte order was very poor. The pancake texture and the buttermilk was bad. The menu mentioned Maple syrup but they served with fake honey. This really shows lack of knowledge of the basic dish and no one paid attention to do business correctly.
I will never return to this hotel and Waldorf Astoria brand from this hotel experience.
