Best place to visit if you are either a Designer or an Architect!!
Spectacular space, worth a detour, and a plus with the huge slide to keep your children happy.
If you want to to learn the origin of the chairs this is the only place in Europe. Great selection very nice presented, you can spent two hours easily and even order a chair for you.
Magnific museum, very recommendable to made the architecture guide tour
Great and nice experience for everyone only to be recommended.
Great museum. Coffee, the acoustics are a bit loud, could be better. Ditto seating.
In a very beautiful natural environment, building with unique architecture, and modern exhibits with home and workplace furniture. Suitable for the whole family, interactive for children.
Combined tickets for Museum and Exposition (Schaudepot) are a good deal, at a very reasonable price. Children under 12 visit for free and feel welcome with animations of their age. However, the museum on design is quite small and the collection not the most interesting. On the other hand, Schaudepot is a hit worth your money (see my comments on Schaudepot).
Unmissable, architecture and contemporary design at the highest level. Fantastic.
Very interesting visit for design enthusiasts, impressive collection of chairs, buildings with original architectural styles, super show room with their products and glimpses of production sites / workshops
... if you like good "living" design, that is a place of inspiration ....
TeScha
Frank O 'Gehry created it in 1989 - the year of the opening - it still looks contemporary and contemporary; Here, several special exhibitions of rank are shown annually. History and present of the design and the architecture are here alive and worth a journey!
What a nice design museum ! We will definitely visit it again, vitra eames chairs and panton chairs fit in our living room perfectly.
A good break for us on the way back from the south (approx. 1.5-2.0 hours).
The furniture store also keeps from the inside what it promises from the outside. Even toddlers have fun. Furniture and souvenirs can be bought in the architecturally sophisticated house. In terms of price like your own furniture dealer
Unfortunately, the restaurant also keeps up with the price, although the quality of the dishes in terms of specialty and temperature (food was cold) cannot keep up. Instead, the ambience on the terrace and in the orchard.
We only viewed the museum opposite (11.00 / adult) from the outside.
The slide was a highlight. Frighteningly fast ... a real adrenaline rush.
It's absolutely amazing and absolutely worth the visit. Make sure to give yourself enough time so that you can enjoy all the different exhibitions Nas well as taking in the whole of the vitra campus. Enjoy!
What to inspire for home and as a professional.
Great showroom, nice cafe. What a good time!
We stopped at the shop and were overwhelmed! Too want to come back for the factory visit :)
I have been there several years ago - quite a nice and unusual experience
To see, original, full of discoveries in perspective.
Beautiful place, especially when the weather is sunny. The VitraHaus is great because you can try all the furniture you previously saw in the Depot...
Breakfast. Having lunch. Coffee and cake. Or just an ice cream. Always good.
The show rooms in the intersecting houses are great and free (5 stars). A lot of fantastic furniture to look at, even if you don't intend to buy. Similarly the payed "Schaudepot" is very interesting and more organized like a museum (4 stars). The "Vitra Design Museum" has an exhibition about design and clubbing/disco for 14, what a waste of money (0 stars).
Well spent inspiring afternoon surrounded by great design.
The Holy Land of Design. Modern yet uniquely equipped .. But IKEA feel a lot. IKEA has a lot to do with it
Heaven! Far away from the center but worth every minute and penny. Do not miss when you are in Basel.
We finally managed to go after we heard a lot of positive things. We can only pass it on. Anyone who is interested in design and interior design, I recommend a visit - enough time!
This is what the apartments looked like in the GDR in the 70s!
Very nice museum, especially chairs collection. You might think it's boring, but then you visit and see so many popular chairs, you will be surprised:)) chairs are interesting! They made it happen:))
As a museum is not great. But the vitra complex in general is amazing.
Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein. Always worth seeing exhibitions. Current: Home Stories. 100 years,
20 visionary interiors.
From 08.02.-23.08.2020
The Vitra Design Museum with changing exhibitions or events in Weil am Rhein, Germany is always worth a visit. In addition to the impressive architecture and the selected furniture designs by important designers such More
Were there on a rainy day to do anything indoor and were pleasantly surprised. Something fancy at first sight but that's the way it should be. Very unusual things, cool books and ideas and in the restaurant a huge selection of cakes that also taste very good.
awesome.
especially the collection where you can see the originals.
chairs all over the grounds to sit and huge slides.
the souvenir shop is unfortunately the same scam as in all other museums.
Superb exhibition
Very didactic
Staging and very successful scenarios
Interesting little place, it s good to go to the Swiss road to have a good rest. There is a tower slide that is fun.
Great place to visit for family. Nice restaurant and coffee corner
You should take enough time.
Despite pre-booking, we had to wait forever because only a certain number of people are allowed in during Corona times. The line was very long.
You could put some Vitra chairs there. An hour of "legs in the stomach" is not too nice. Especially since you have already paid for the expensive tickets.
Since we had also booked the tour, the time was very tight.
Instead of opening the door longer so that everyone can come in, it was closed an hour earlier, giant dee. An hour longer would be useful.
Overall, the whole Vitra campus is very interesting, the museum is actually the least sparkling of them.
The staff were very nice and accommodating.
We spent the whole Saturday there and took a lot of impressions home with us.
Super inspiring place. Not only the museum but also the showroom is also amazing. Kids friendly place to run around and go up to the fun slide ride! The restaurant is pricy for what it is. But not bad food with enjoyable ambiance.
It s a five star museum not only for those who have interest to design also for public.
I've only seen the outside that is fascinating. A true design town.
Not enough things to look at, it's too hot and the cafe has horrible chairs. Also the staff ignore you. The ice cream trailer is great though, it made up for the whole experience.
Fantastic architecture by Frank O Giehry, interesting and always surprising exhibitions also for families with children. The Vitra Campus as a whole is worth a visit. The Combiticket with the Vitra Show Depot is More
Even without being a specialist or a discerning design enthusiast, the Vitra Design Museum remains a fascinating place.
The architecture (surprising at the beginning) of the place, the setting in situation of the items, the presentation of the projects of young designers, the presence of the nearby campus as well as a production center, all with a permanent touch of Fantasy and humor all this makes this museum a must if you are in the area.
There is also a restaurant where you can enjoy excellent brunches.
Unfortunately, very confusing orientation options, moreover, you have to pay the "entrance fee" not at all .. because you for the same money (namely 0 ) the same looks .. apart from the tiny museum on the site ... rather limited to "rip off" there the speech on the internet was of admission price. Very unsatisfactory event.
Very nice place where are exposed all the must have of the design.
Fans great because I'm a design and architecture fan. Unfortunately, in the exhibition "Night Fever: Design and Club Culture" we were warned by a supervisor because our little children danced on the dance floor and were a bit loud ..... the old "Zausel" (who warned us) was probably never in a disco .... It really annoyed me, we left immediately. A little more tolerance please!
Just come to Wei am Rhein and take a look at the whole thing. It is worth a visit.
Wir waren zu "Hello, Robot" Ausstellung da. Es war wunderbar!
A great, modern museum, almost everything you can touch, top it open every day, next time we will test the slide.
