I had a very bad experience with this office. My dog had been seeing another neurologist and we had not received good results. His seizures had doubled in frequency and he had tried two different medications, one which was not traditional. My primary veterinarian recommended that I contact Dr. Toyoda at Vista veterinary and said they knew each other from vet school. When I called the office they told me that Dr. Toyoda would not agree to an appointment for my dog, because I had already seen another neurologist and I needed to stay with him. Carrie, the neurology coordinator, said they do not see each other s patients (I m sure they don t want to step on each other s toes or question each other s recommendations). I explained that I wanted to receive a second opinion based on worsening seizures improvement and delayed responses back. She then said I could not see them, and when I explained that my primary vet recommended she did not seem to care very much. She called me back a few days later and said that if I had a recommendation they might consider seeing me but I had to agree to the $5000 MRI cost. I explained we did not have pet insurance and that I felt like she should still be able to evaluate or give me an opinion based on his history and prior medication. This seems ridiculous that you could not get a second opinion, and also that she would not see us without this expensive test. Carrie also thought it was important to clarify that they were not colleagues in vet school but that my veterinarian was a student of Dr. Toyoda. This did not seem like in a significant fact because now they are both practicing veterinary medicine and should be able to communicate with each other and collaborate. This treatment seems very unfair and I would think that a human would be able to get a second opinion and it seems inhumane not to meet with us if we can t afford the MRI test, which is optional to clarify the root problem of the seizures. This test is not commonly done unless people have pet insurance and nine times out of 10 I was told that they just treat the symptoms of the seizures. I do not recommend this office and do not feel they have the best interest of the animals in mind.

If you need to bring your pet for end of life care I recommend Vista Veterinary. The Staff explained the fees in detail, was amazing, caring , compassionate and let us grieve as long as we needed to. The Doctor explained the procedure in detail and was understanding and shared his feelings while we said goodbye to our Snickers of 16 years.

I went for the first time in 2020 for my German sh...

I went for the first time in 2020 for my German shepherd's itchy and yeasty skin. I paid an excessive amount to see the "specialist" Dr. Nagel who didn't know anything more than a regular vet. He prescribed me the same exact medications I could have received from other vets but at a much higher cost. I cancelled a follow up appointment and when I returned, Dr. Nagel was very unprofessional in his manner towards me about it and my dog did not like him at all.
I went for a second time for an emergency 2 days ago because my dog was having seizures. I got to the parking lot and they came and took my dog in saying that they were going to do blood work and that I had to wait in the parking lot until I received a call from them. I get a call after THREE HOURS of waiting in my car asking for my permission to do the blood work. I was very upset because I thought that's what I was waiting for the whole time and I did not appreciate spending 3 hours in my car as if I had nothing better to do. Dr. Ricket then explained what the cause of the seizures may be using a lot of technical vetinary jargon over-explaining everything that I already knew from conducting my own research. He then wanted to keep my dog in the hospital for 24 hours and then inject him with an anti-seizure medication giving me an estimate of a few thousand dollars. At this point, I had a visceral feeling that they were just trying to milk me for money. I took my dog and went home giving him some anti-seizure medications prescribed by my primary vetinarian that I reluctant to use at first but have been working very well.
As far as my dog's skin, it has gotten SO MUCH BETTER simply by changing his diet and using NATURAL remedies such as essential oils and apple cider vinegar. I'm really surprised that vets do not have knowledge on natural remedies for dog problems. They just prescribe medication that temporarily relieves the issue and can cause damage to the internal organs.
I did not appreciate the lack of communication and have felt like I was talked down to by Dr. Nagel (I'm not from the pocket area).
I did appreciate how kind a lot of the other staff is however and I appreciate that they referred me to Laguna Creek Vetinary Hospital which my dogs enjoys going to a lot more.
Attached is a picture of what my dog looked like before and pictures of how he looks now. His yeast is gone, his hair is growing back and he's looking back to normal and so much happier. Feel free to ask me any questions you have on natural remedies for dog's skin problems. Happy to help.

Vista took care of our 16yr old cat Witty for end of life services. All of the staff were amazing and so compassionate. Having four children and them all being so sad for the loss of our pet, Vista was very accommodating and allowed us all a chance to spend time to say our goodbyes. We are very thankful.

I did receive the anticipated phone call today about the ashes for Witty and was surprised to learn the cost was not included in the fee we paid Vista at the time of service. I specifically asked the staff member at Vista while going over the paperwork if there was an additional cost and was told no. The representative I spoke with today said this was a complaint she's received from several people and was told they were working on it.

I've brought two pets here. Both times they've recommended procedures far above what was logical or necessary. I should've learned my lesson the first time. They may just be wanting to take the best care of my pets as they can, but it doesn't feel that way.

We came to this vet for an emergency with our cat. I felt from start to finish that they truly cared. The vet and staff kept me up to date and let me know what they recommended and why. I had to travel 1 hour to get here, but it was well worth it. In the future if I have an emergency again, I will be back here in a heartbeat.

My dog had an emergency blood is gushing from her vigina. The tech told us it would be about an hour before the doctor could examine her and then we could leave and they would call us. An hour and 45 minutes went by so I called and they said it would be 4-5 hours before a doctor can see her and we must wait in the parking lot. I explained that I have to check on my elderly mother and they said if I left I had to take my dog. The worse service ever I don t see the difference in me waiting in the car in case something happened or me at home and they call me. Not so friendly I would never do business here again.
