House is in a great spot and beach nice. However, house is in need of update with repairs and cleanliness. The quality you expect with rental fee is unmatched. Lightbulbs out, fans, Hvac vents dirty, cockroaches found and killed, trash and old stuff left around property and inside of covered area and by pool.

****UPDATE**** Bob Oakes, owner of Village Realty reached out to us. He was very accommodating and went above and beyond to remedy the situation to the best of his ability. We were very pleased with our experience dealing with him; and will be returning to the Outer Banks again and giving Village Realty another chance.
We rented a home in Currituck Club with our best friends and their children through Village Realty. This is our first time in the Outer Banks; and the private pool and spa made this rental a win for us. The bonus we didn t bargain for was the sewage treatment plant sitting right beside our rental home. It was absolutely disgusting and after contacting the rental office; we were told that the sewage smell is a well known issue at Currituck Club and we just got it on a bad week . Coincidentally, Village Realty fails to disclose that a poop plant is right next door to their rental home at 507 Meadow Lane...and in fact, all rental homes in Magnolia Bay sometimes get the poop smell. After much back and forth, we were offered a $100 refund of our $3,500 vacation for the inconvenient smell. Absolutely unacceptable and ridiculous.
To be exact, my husband described it as vacationing in the middle of some old man s fart. Trust me, go somewhere else. Your money will be better spent - even if you have to pay more.
Village Realty Representatives were amazing. Not only did they let us in a little early (2 grandkids screaming), they went above and beyond. We had a slight pool issue, but Village Realty took care of it within minutes. We will be renting from them again for our next vacation to Outer Banks. Thank you for helping make our vacation a memory we will never forget.
I have been going to Nags Head with my family over 25 years. Every year has been with Village Realty. I have always loved the home and how well they have been maintained. There is a certain standard that has been set with in this company when it comes to the homes and upkeep. I must say when there is a issues the maintenance crew is there very quickly.
My biggest issues stems from the Beach Club. Years ago it was a great place to go with great food and drinks and now this seem to be the place I avoid. I can say with so many rules at the beach club I just walk through and rarely go there durning the week.
The club opens at 10am, if you want to go before then you only option is the public access which is a quarter mile down beach road. There is a gate tha only home owners have access to and requires a code. I like to go as early as possible but with my options I have to go at 10am unless I want to walk to the public access.
Next, the facility has parking underneath the pool and beach club again this is only reserved for the home owners and members. I would say there is about 30 spots underneath but if you are renting a home for the week you have to park outside even if there are spots available.
The employees ant the beach club could be more friendly. When I walked in the first day I wasn't greeted with a hello I was greeted with a, "We don't allow coolers in the beach club!" I knew the rules and I know that I can take my cooler down to the beach. However, I shouldn't be made to feel as if I'm doing something wrong by taking a cooler through my only access to the beach I have. This happened 3 times during the week. This is why I avoid the beach club at all costs and this is were village realty can spend some time and money to make the customer experience much better. The club hasn't had much if any of an up date in the last 25 years if I can recall.
I love the homes and the upkeep with the homes. They need to apply the same principles to the beach club and staff. Staff in the office is top notch why not have that same customer impact on the beach club?
I have stayed in two Seven Sisters homes on two other vacations but what we experienced this vacation was disgusting. We had standing water from 4- 12 inches deep the entire week. We should have been able to walk to the beach but instead we had to load up the car in order to go thru the water. The water had garbage including an orange and a fish swimming in the water. Across the street, the water had algae growing on it. I spent a huge amount of money to be close to the ocean which was money not well spent. The home was perfect but the standing water put a large disappointment on the vacation. My son-in-law called Nags Head municipality and reported the standing water but we never saw anyone come to pump it away. Standing water like this with garbage in it has to be a health hazard. The water never receded .I was interested in purchasing a Seven Sister's home but decided against it due to the standing water.
We found the house to be very spacious and well furnished inside, more than adequate for our large family group. We used the maintenance form found in the Hospitality app to report some problems and the response was good and timely. Problems included an unusable grill, which was promptly replaced. Also, the latch on the pool gate was broken, some drains ran so slowly we could hardly use them, one of the clothes dryers would not work and many light bulbs were burned out. The electric skillet found in the house seemed to have a broken thermostat so it was almost impossible to use. Some of our group had trouble with the TV s, being unable to figure out the controls. Some had 3 remotes and the media room controls were also difficult to work. Some short instructions attached to the remotes or equipment would be helpful. The WiFi went down on several occasions requiring a reset. We had to watch the pool very closely because it had a leak and the level went down quickly. Someone came to patch it and it was improved but still seemed to leak some. We reported this, as well as the lining coming loose and maintenance indicated they would need to wait until the end of the season for a more permanent fix. We found the pool furniture to be uncomfortable and not very durable. Two lounge chairs were broken when we arrived and another broke during our stay. Maintenance was there working on the grill when the third one broke and they promptly replaced all three. Things our group mentioned on a more positive note included adequate and easy parking and good water pressure in the showers. My extra nose-sensitive sister commented that the house had a nice, clean smell. We enjoyed our stay there, in spite of the rainy weather. Overall we were pleased, but felt that we paid a huge amount and might have expected things to be more in order. Still, it offers a lot of perks, which means there are a lot of things to break down. We found the maintenance responses to be commendable.
We hadn't been to OBX in years when we decided on a last minute spring break trip. We had specific locations in mind and the Village Realty staff helped us to find the perfect pet-friendly rental for our family! The house was beautiful, clean and well-stocked. We had a great trip with lots of great family memories made!
The condo was outdated, had a musty smell, couple of light bulbs were missing. The fan in second bathroom did not work. We expected a much better environment based on the pictures we saw on line. Our stay was short due to Florence Hurricane.
Wonderful to deal with. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. They answered all our questions and made us feel right at home. We stayed in the most beautiful home. We cannot wait to go back again and stay at the same house. Would highly recommend!!
Renting from Village Realty was a easy and convenient. We were very happy with our rental and I was able to just email them with any questions and they were quick to respond.
We stayed at Wright Nice View. The location can t be beat. Oceanfront with terrific views. The pool was nice too. Located just across from the Wright Brothers Memorial.
We unfortunately had a some issues. This place could really use a good cleaning from top to bottom. We found items left from previous tenants including toiletries, beer and dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Other issues included a filthy washing machine, dirt under the couches (obviously long term, not just from the previous tenant), water bottles left under the bed, the oven was dirty and there were pots and pans in the kitchen that were unusable because of the rust on them. Even though we spent our first day cleaning up, I would advise that the cleaners do a thorough cleaning of this place.
We also had to request a blender and crock pot because there were none. The blender arrived Monday and the crock pot arrived on Wednesday.
This could be a good place after a good cleaning and updating kitchen items.
We contacted the company and sent photos the first day. We received an apology. A suggestion that we have is to send the cleaning company back immediately when issues are reported. They did contact us again after we got home from the vacation and will be sending a voucher for future use. We are still undecided as to whether we will be using this company again, so the voucher may not be used.
Will definitely be using Village Realty again...first time using for vacation and was very well pleased with our rental and how we were treated when a simple issue arrived...can't wait until our next year!
Our second year in this lovely cottage! Last year we requested a few additional items to be placed in Happy Ours and this year everything we suggested was there! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! We especially enjoy all the bedrooms for our family. Plus we love the South Nags Head location. It is close to everything! The new locking system is fabulous. It is very nice to go directly to our cottage on arrival. Plus checkout is equally convenient. Another great thing about this cottage are all the chairs and tables on the decks. Thanks for that too! Of course we must mention the cute Tiki Bar. Fun! Beach access is pretty close- certainly doable. Thanks again for a great vacation.
Our house Soliel was just what we were looking for! It was well kept, clean, and maintained. I love the space offered. We contacted village realty with a few questions/ concerns throughtout the week and they provided great customer service! Staff came throughout the week to clean/service the pool & hot tub! Will definitely rent from Village realty again!
Hello! We had a house cancel on us a few weeks before that was their property. While the houses cancellation was unacceptable that was the owners fault and village realty did a great job helping us find a new one.
I realize that when dealing w/ everything Covid related things are uncertain. Our community pool was closed during our stay. That was disappointing, but the fact that we were only refunded $100 was even more disappointing as the rental costs more due to access to a pool. I voiced my opinion and they were kind enough to add $50, but it shouldn't be something that is argued to get. It's my understanding that multiple parties were involved in deciding a proper amount, but they are way off. I get that it's no ones fault, but the loss should hit mainly on the renter. That being said, when we had an issue w/ the fridge at the house, Village Realty was very quick to respond and get the issue resolved.
The house, though nice overall, was not ready at 4 p.m. as promised and had been skipped in the day's cleaning schedule. The hurried cleaning job was not as thorough as in past 20 years that we rented from Village. The outdoor furniture was dirty and in poor shape, and the improperly vented range fan caused the upstairs to fill with cooking smoke when frying bacon or searing scallops, necessitating the opening of windows and loss of cooling to the discomfort of ourselves and our guests. We were also disappointed that the hot tub was removed prior to our visit, which was a must have for us. Village did refund $250 for its loss, but it was a disappointment not to have as a special treat during our vacation.
UPDATE: Village did contact us to discuss these problems. They offered us a rent coupon to use on a future visit to redress the situation.
Very disappointed. The pool was not heated which we did pay for. All the TV remotes in every room do not work. Office is not available to rectify the issues. Came here for rest and relaxation not to be stressed out.
Village Realty went above and beyond ensuring my friends and I (27 of us in one home) had the best vacation. When I needed assistance or had any questions they were resolved quickly. For example, one of the dishwashers was not draining and I reached out and within an hour maintenance came out and helped fix the problem that we did cause. The house was exceptionally clean when we arrived including perfectly made beds and shower towels for all guest. Even after our vacation was over and I was inquiring about renting for next year they provided me a list of homes for the exact week I was searching for that fulfilled all our requirements. Overall, I would recommend anyone who has a large group or not to work with Village Realty. They are profession and most importantly, extremely friendly!
My family has rented several OBX properties through Village Realty over the last decade. It s always been a great experience. They respond to questions and property concerns quickly and the staff has always been courteous. The addition of the phone app for communication was very helpful and can be shared with other members in the group. Keyless entry increased convenience- we had no need to stop at the rental office at all! No more line to check in or stop to drop off keys. We'll definitely use Village Realty in the future.
When I was making reservations for a house with Village I Specifically asked for a house with at least one bedroom and bathroom that was handicap accessible. I asked multiple times for this, especially a bathroom that was handicapped accessible. When we got to the house it had neither and it was in a seven bedroom house. Only one bedroom door was big enough for the wheelchair and no bathroom door, They did bring us a walker and after back-and-forth with them a shower chair that we were unable to use .The carpet was extremely dirty we found two water bottles behind two beds in two different bedrooms. A used plastic bag under a bed. Two of the bedroom TV s did not work they said no signal .
What an amazing time my entire family had on our trip. We absolutely enjoyed it and we will be reserving our week for next year. Very relaxing and peaceful.
We spend a week in Nags Head. Great location, beautiful house. The only issue is with the elevator, which I guess is something beyond their control. They do provide maintenance in time. I'll certainly choose Village Reality again next time.
Will never use another realty company. Village treats you like you are their only customer and no request or complaint is an annoyance. They are there for you. I highly recommend.
Village Realty is a well oiled machine with helpful, nice people. From booking all the way through one very minor issue while on vacation, their level of customer service was outstanding. I would, most definitely, use them again to book a vacation.
Over the last 10 years, we have stayed with Village Realty more than 10 times now, and Joyful Sound is probably the nicest house we've ever rented. Housekeeping was excellent, the pool and spa were well-maintained, bedding was comfortable - all in all, our stay was all we expected and more.
Hadn't used a rental agency like this before, so I have no basis for comparison, but our experience was very good. Rental agreement was clear, house was as shown in the pictures, communications were timely and clear, everything was clean and working, and the app was helpful. Would definitely rent through them again.
Elevator broken for four of our Seven day vacation. Internet and TV not available for Three days of our vacation. House very dusty. Master bathroom on upper level not clean.
Third time I've rented through Village Realty and there has never been any issues with them or the properties they manage. Their app is awesome and makes everything very simple and convenient. I would highly recommend them if you are looking for a vacation on the OBX.
The realty company is great to deal with. We had to call them a couple times during our stay and they were courteous and prompt in helping us out. We stayed at Dolphin Run 30, Nags Head. The house was ok, needs some updating. Steep steps going into the house. Lots of flys!! We couldn t figure out how they kept getting into the house. Beds on lower level were good, the one in the master bedroom has a big dip in the middle and both people end up in the dip, my brother s back was killing him on the 3rd day. The house was not as clean as we thought we d find it. Seems like they just sweep main area and wipe down the kitchen and bathrooms, not a deep clean you d expect especially with Covid. We are healthcare workers and we had brought our own cleaning supplies (because of Covid) and we ended up cleaning and vacuuming the house before we let the kids enter. Linen was provided, a plus is that they were all individually wrapped for each person and bed. Washer didn t work, but the maintenance guy came and took a look, said it s common in the area for washers to stop working. They unclogged it, it worked but this was on our last day. Wifi is iffy, it can t really support a lot devices, this was only a problem when we got back to the house and the kids were relaxing after the beach/pool. Close walk to the beach, we did have to drive because of the beach chairs/tent/umbrella. The drive was short and there was always a parking space available. Pool was a plus and outdoor shower has hot water! Great for rinsing off after the beach and jumping into the refreshing pool. The pool guy came when we were there to clean the pool and jacuzzi. I would use this realty company again, like I said they were great, just some minor things with the home.
Great location. Some negatives. No gas grill, the charcoal grill is not adequate for large families. Could use additional refrigerator . One in kitchen area is OK, additional one could be placed in rec-room first floor.
Issues with spiders and sugar ants 3rd floor
This was our 8th OBX rental. and the first that did not have a gas grill or a hot tub. Check rental adds to verify your desired needs.
The house we rented through Village Realty was a disaster. First, I tried to call the office to get the keyless entry code before we arrived. Called at a few minutes before they closed but by the time I got through the voicemail loop, no one picked up the phone. We arrived at 1:00 a.m. and picked up our packet with the keyless entry code. It was written down wrong so we had to call someone to get a new code. When I first called, no one answered so there we were standing outside the property in the wee hours, waiting. Internet service worked on and off through the week. Cable was nonexistent - presumably the satellite was "stolen" from the house sometime before our arrival, after they confirmed that the tvs were all working. They offered to pay for us to rent red box but the movies played in pink tones with no cable. Cable was supposed to be restored on Wednesday but the realty company said that someone at our house (a nonexistent person named Claire) told them not to bother. Pool was open (weather was warm the first two days) but the filter was not working and surface was all scummy. So while our neighbors enjoyed the pool at their rental, we watched in envy. Kicker was when the downstairs toilet backed up. Don't bother renting Serenity Now KD12 or using Village Realty. By the way, the last place we rented from them was supposedly close to the ocean [as the crow flies] but unfortunately, the public beach access was a long haul away so their postings can be misleading.
First time at Corolla. I was disappointed with the house we stayed in. The bedrooms were not according to the information. The floors had been shampooed and when we got there they were soaking wet. This really upset me in that we had a crawling toddler and he could not be put on the floor. There was not enough silverware for each person at meal time. The bedspreads or blanket covers were covered with holes.
Terrible experience with Village Realty. For the second time we have no internet and they just stall till your week is over. We paid 2500 for one week and this how customers are treated. We have 2 people in wheelchairs and a pregnant woman and they flatly refuse to deal with it. Once they have your money they ignore you. We will NEVER rent with them again!
They were great to work with! They answered all of my questions, not just about the house but the area. They found the perfect house within our budget. They were respectful and kind. I will definitely be calling them next year to book again.
I have been working with Village Realty for over 15 years planning my Thanksgiving week with friends and family. This year was epic in that I rented 3 houses. The staff was patient and helpful with all the logistics of this process. Everything went smoothly with no no problems. Just on a special note on how accommodating they are. I rented a house last year that did not have a crock-pot/slow cooker, all the other houses I ever rented had one and I had planned several meals for my larger group with the slow cooker in mind. When I called the office to inquire, they explained in was not a required item but would look to see if they had one. They sent over a brand new crock-pot with in hour. I was so impressed and grateful.
To start of this review, I would like to inform you that this was a family vacation that my family planned a year in advance as this was the first trip we were all able to take together in quite some time. That being said I honestly feel that my family and I should have taken more time in finding better accommodations as Village realty has obviously not taken the time to upgrade, clean or manage the upkeep of their properties before guests arrive.
Our first day arriving the complex looked very unkept. When we pulled up to our residence there was sand already on the carport. I understand that this is a beach house but I would have preferred that the sand be tracked in by my family after we enjoyed the beach ourselves. Walking into the lower level we immediately smelled mildew throughout the bottom level and in the elevator, this room was avoided the entire trip due to this concern.
If booking a trip based on hygiene alone I would avoid Village Realty properties. There were bugs and cobwebs all across the front steps, door and inside the front door corners. You could tell that these bugs have been there and this part of the home hadn t been clean in a while. My daughter's room was unappealing as you can clearly see where they spot painted in her room/bathroom with a different color that seemed as her room was streaked with stains. She was then unable to open her balcony door due to so many bugs flying down when she opened the door. More so all the balconies upstairs as well were unable to be opened from bugs and cobwebs. The furniture on the patio was also filled with water and the chairs were rusted.
Honestly, in writing this review, it is very disheartening to even book with Village Realty again. Our first night was completely ruined. Around 12:00 am we were awoken to a loud siren and heat, realizing it was the intercom malfunctioning. In trying to turn on the light to see what s going on I realized the power /heat were off. Trying to find some type of assistance I found two flashlights which only one worked. I then rushed downstairs when my 70 year old mother, who just had surgery on her arm started screaming my name for help as she fell had fallen out of the bed because she couldn t see. To say I was completely infuriated that my mother had this happen to her on vacation was beyond me. I then got on the phone to call their after hours emergency maintenance line and was told they were not electricians and the earliest the could have someone out was the following morning.
The next day we received a call from a Village Realty agent, Lori. Lori was not aware of our previous night, as she was calling about a lightbulb that the maintenance man Keith fixed prior. Keith, however, was the silver lining, he was very friendly and assisted with any troubleshooting issues we had. Lori, however, was rude and very nonchalant. Instead of letting us explain our issues with the property she wanted to base our conversation about us being compensated, following with the statement we don t discuss compensation until the end of the stay. We didn t want any compensation, only for our issues to be addressed and fixed. To base our conversation on that our complaints were unwarranted and we simply wanted compensation was extremely rude and off-putting. It blows my mind how someone can be uninterested in the issues of a home she is to manage and had no concern about what happened the night before. With that sour taste being put in my mouth of management she never followed up with us again.
Overall the saving point of this trip was the beach. However, when having a family vacation one would like to enjoy the home they would be spending the majority of their time in. Hospitality, cleanliness and overall stay were one of the worst stays I have ever had vacationing. Outside of having my family there, I would never refer someone to use this property or company when booking a beach vacation as my expectations were not met by any standard.
Outstanding Rental Organization. Booking was simple and electronic yet when I needed an answer to a question quickly, the was a live person to help. Check-in/out was electronic and easy as well. The house/property was very clean and ordered. I recommend renting from Village Realty.
Honest, trustworthy, good rental company, good property management company. Walk the walk with their effective communications too, excellent staff whom make it happen!! Enjoyed Flip-Flops too in Monteray Shores, nice 4bdroom beach cottage for the family. seculuded private pool too with outdoor speakers! nice!. M-859!! see you soon Corolla! Shout out to Sarah in the Corolla office, integrity for sure! Ownership is lucky to have her on board!
This was one of my favorite houses that we've rented since coming to the Outer Banks for many, many years. The view is unsurpassable as is the location of the house. Very comfy beds and clean. Unbelievable bird watching from this house as well as entertainment from the golfers. We will definitely come back around to this one.
Village Realty was great! All of the employees were professional and courteous. We would definitely use there service again. Our first family vacation on the Outer Banks was truly awesome!
We had a great week at Pelican's Paradise! There were 9 of us (4 adults & 5 kids, 10 years old to 15 years). The kids immediately gravitated to the outside pool and spa area as the adults enjoyed the pool and deck furniture. The bedrooms were clean and spacious and the kitchen, dining, and living room was perfect for large gatherings. The access to the beach was a short walk (down the cul-de-sac) and was fine for the older kids walking back & forth. The beach was very clean and we enjoyed taking the long stroll to Jennette's Pier. It was aggravating or annoying having the Nags Head Beach Security constantly passing by in pickup trucks and 4-wheelers. I felt it was a waist of time and money with the constant drive throughs ( many times zig-zagging through families). The access to the pool and spa was spot on, especially having the two large outdoor showers near the pool. Overall, I would highly recommend Pelican's Paradise and look forward to returning to Nags Head, NC!
BE WARNED DON T DO BUSSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY FOR ANY REASON! First off, this company could care less about an international pandemic. Their reply to wanting to cancel is ( well the bridge is still open so we are keeping your money). Our state is on lockdown and requires an extra two week quarantine when you return from traveling to North or South Carolina. Which would require everyone of the 6 adults in our party to use three weeks of vacation for a one week trip. Do they care? Not in the least. On top of it one person in our party was diagnosed with COVID-19. Do they care? Nope again. Ohh yeah and don t bother purchasing their joke of an insurance policy as we did. It doesn t cover anything if you read the actual terms of the policy. It s about as good as those scam car warranties a car dealer sells you that has almost everything that can go wrong under the not covered section. We are out over $6000 and none of problems listed above is enough to get our money back. This place issues no refunds even if you die! While every other company out there along with AIR B&B are issuing refunds no questions asked because of this pandemic this company just sits back and collects your hard earned money money and won t give it back. Sounds like a great company huhh? And their response is well our property owners rely on this income. Well so do the hard working families that wanted to go on vacation but can t because of this pandemic and are now out $6000 and can t go on vacation somewhere else that isn t considered a COVID hot spot like North Carolina is. If they don t care about an international pandemic then they don t care about anything! DO YOURSELF A HUGE FAVOR AND BOOK WITH ANOTHER COMPANY THAT IS REPUTABLE THAT WILL GIVE YOU YOUR MONEY BACK IF SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENS.
Village Realty is a great company. Everyone is super helpful. Their properties are always extra clean and ready when promised. I have been vacationing in OBX for 30+ years and have used other vacation rental companies. Village Realty is by far, the best.
terrible management company. Do not use them. Anything nice in my house was broken or stolen. They never replace anything. Worst management company I have ever used and I own a lot of properties.
Love the home! (Lit N Up) but felt that it was not as clean as it should have been. The carpet in the dining/family room area was very dirty. The kitchen tile was sticky to walk on. The outside of the house had a lot of webs and bugs stuck in them. The pool water got to the point that it was very cloudy. I just think that if I am paying that much money, the house should have been cleaner!
We stayed at a house near Jockey Ridge last week. The house is beautiful and the proximity to the beach was excellent. The pool was well maintained. However, the house was NOT clean. There was dog hair all over and crumbs with actual bits of food on the floor in the living room and kitchen. It was disgusting. We left it cleaner than we found it. Atlantic Realty should check the cleaning services they employ. I would rather pay extra and assure a clean house at the start of my vacation versus pay at the end so the next person has a clean house. The process seems a bit backwards. I don t mind paying the high price for a house, but I expect it to be clean!!
just a few of the 'professionally cleaned' rug. black fingerprints on wall. I was not exaggerating and it's the former guests who do this. The 100 dollar certificate...thank you. We spend 4800. to rent. It will help us in future rentals.
This was our third year dealing with Village Realty. In the past they have been great. This time we could not access our condo with the access code we were given. Because it was after normal business hours, we had to call the after hours service number, and the person who answered was totally useless and could not tell us what the correct code was. Through trial and error we finally gained access, but standing in the hallway with all of our luggage while we repeatedly tried various codes was quite unpleasant.
Many updates were made to the condo, and those were appreciated. Next, they should update / replace mattresses, which are becoming somewhat uncomfortable.
Always have a great time in the Outer Banks in the Village of Nags Head and using Village Realty. Will definitely go back next year and may stay an extra week.
They take care of my property and keep guest happy. They go by without my asking prior to severe storms and make sure everything is tied down. I like working with pros.
Village Realty provided us with a very nice beachfront rental property in Nag's Head for the week of September 2 . The no check-in lock box system is very convenient. We had a problem with locking the one door and a handyman came to help us within 30 minutes of a phone call to the main office. Would definitely use Village Realty in the future. All the staff was very helpful as well.
Just finished the week in a rental house managed by Village Realty. The house was KD25 Beach Happy . The house was large and expensive, but it was a big disappointment. Some A/C units were broken. Sliding doors were broken. Shower drains were clogged. Quality of the furnishings was poor and there was not nearly enough deck or pool chairs considering the house accommodates 28+ people. They also had an inadequate amount of dishes and silverware. Village Realty responded to our complaints, but were ineffective. They never got the doors fixed, and only brought a few more chairs. We have been coming to the OBX for 40 years. We have always rented large ocean front houses. This house was by far the worst we ever experienced. My recommendation is to avoid KD25 and Village Realty.
Had a wonderful time at a sound front property for a week in mid-October 2018. Check-in was easy and the house was in great shape, just as advertised. Very friendly and responsive staff. Will book with VR again!
Village Realty is the best rental company for OBX lovers. Their site is clear, easy to use, has great pictures, good prices, and a lot of variety. If you have any issues on vacation they are prompt and will replace or fix any issues you may have. Our pool pump, due to leaves from trees, and time of year clogged and we called cause the pool was a little foggy. They were there within an hour smile on their face and serviced the pool. They even thanked us for calling.
We had a wonderful stay at SUNSETS FOREVER ,awesome wide long views from our sound front decks. The house was amazing, comfortable for our family of 8 . The Village Realty people are really dedicated and helpful. We did not have any issues with our home. We will definitely be back! Then you !
All I can say is don't rent with this company. Dirty dirty dirty and things are not maintained. Go to air bnb or vbro. Look at the reviews. This company's rentals have little if no reviews. So to bet a week of your precious vacation on that it may turn out to be ok is too risky in my mind. If you are a home owner, please don't use this company because your property is not going to be maintained.
I have worked with the Village Realty staff for many years, making reservations for our family to enjoy our time on the Outer Banks. Everyone has always been quite helpful! Love dealing with Village Realty!!
This was my second time using Village Realty, each time they have been wonderfully helpful and good to deal with. We had an issue with the TV on this trip and they sent a wonderful young man to assist us at a time of our choosing. He took care of it in minutes. I will very happily continue to use Village.
The house was beautiful and spacious. It accommodated our family nicely and everyone had a great time. The pool was especially appreciated due to the hot and humid weather during our stay.
QUAY Property QE1: Shoenthal OBX- Long story short our vacation was cancelled just 9 DAYS BEFORE ARRIVAL. I was called by Village Realty and told the owner forgot to block off his weeks of renovation so they were cancelling my reservation with no solution. The only thing they could do is refund my money because they had nothing available. Village Realty also said they talked to the owner about rescheduling his reno and he said he could not he has already been WAITING LONG ENOUGH. Needless to say he did not care that he cancelled our vacation last minute along with other families. I would NOT rent this property in the future because you never know when the owner might decide to cancel (even though we had signed contracts) Obviously the owner did not care to consider the consequences that would fall on the families that already had vacations planned scrambling to find a new place. I have not received a REFUND so I am paying for 2 vacations that we haven't even left for yet. After receiving a call from Village Realty i believe they did everything they could to resolve the problem since the owner stated I'm going to be there no matter what so Village Realty had no other choice but to cancel our reservation along with the other families to keep us from an awkward situation. I do hope Village Realty will be assessing their relationship with this owner.
A beautiful place to stay for the week with lots of amenities. We were traveling with an elderly adult with mobility issues so the elevator, ramps, and accommodating bathrooms made this vacation possible. Our only issues were the broken screen door on the deck, a non-working ceiling fan, some issues with figuring out the appliances and an elevator (closest to us) not working.. ALL little things for a lovely week!
We started vacationing with Village Realty in 2005 and have always had a positive experience. The homes are consistently well appointed and clean, the customer service is friendly and helpful, maintenance is quick to fix any issues. My only complaint is that the search feature on the website isn t the best but if we are ever in need of help finding a rental we just give them a call. I would recommend them (and often do) to anyone looking for a high quality vacation in the Outer Banks. My favorite place in the world!
We love this house! This is the second time in two years that we have rented it and if listed, we will commit to another year. It is perfect for our family of ten, beautifully decorated and well maintained. I would like to compliment the cleaning staff as well. I know that your job is not easy and hope that your employer appreciates your diligence and hard work!
We had a great time and this house was perfect for two families with five kids total. So many things were convenient: The trolley to the beach, the assistance getting our beach stuff on and off the beach, and people came around to put the trash cans out and put them back away. Pool and hot tub were convenient to house and one another. Negatives: wifi is completely horrible and is not password secured, upstairs master BR bed is too small, and upstairs master BR ceiling kept us awake, downstairs BR's were too warm, front porch was dirty and unusable. Overall, house was convenient, easy to be in for a week, and afforded our friends and us a relaxing time together.
We have rented the same condo in Kill Devil Hills, NC through Village realty each of the last two years. They are easy to work with and very friendly and responsive. They have a great app for your phone that includes everything you need for your stay, including the key codes for your unit and access to the pool. For the property we have stayed at they also have a great "early check-in" option that gives you three extra hours on the day you arrive. We will definitely use Village Realty for our trips to the Outer Banks!
We stayed at Blissful Serenity Aug 24th -31st. We had issues from the moment we entered the house. We started off our vacation wanting to make us all drinks but there was not any glasses. Both dishwashers were completely full and the dishes had not been put away. I have never stayed in any house where we had to empty 2 FULL dishwashers before we could start our vacation. No pot holders in the house. We had to buy our own along with cookie sheets. They had recently cleaned most of the couches and chairs which is nice except they were very wet the entire first day we were there. Our clothes got wet when we tried to sit on any of the furniture that was cleaned. The house had a terrible smell when we entered and we were told by one of staff that it was probably musty because of all the rain they have recently had. After a few hours walking around our feet were almost black from how dirty the floor was. The refrigerator and stove were filthy. We arrived late that evening so we did not contact Village realty until the next day as they were closed when we arrived. When we attempted to go to bed that night the sheets had hair on it and a spot that resembled blood. We washed the sheets and the spot did come out. Went to another unoccupied room to sleep while the sheets were being washed and that bed appeared clean but when we laid on them there was a ton of sand on the bed. The pool was dirty but there were several trees next to the pool so this is expected, however the hot tub that was covered was filled with sand. Called Village realty Sunday and they said that they would have someone out to clean the hot tub and the house. Someone came and promptly cleaned the hot tub and 3 people came to re-clean the entire house per the staff at village realty. We also had shower curtains with large amounts of mold on them. They were going to clean the kitchen, remake the beds with clean linens, mop and sweep the floors and change out the moldy shower curtains. They were there no more than 30 minutes. This is a 9 bedroom 8 bathroom house. How can you clean a house that quickly? It explains why it looked like it did when we came. They did not change out a shower curtain but not the moldy shower curtain. One of the HUGE issues was that all the bedrooms with the exception of the master was VERY hot at night. Maintenance came and stated " The people that stayed here the week before complained as well." He reported that there is nothing he can do as there is only one register in each room. He stated he brought 1 box fan last week. I told him one box fan was not enough for an 9 bedroom house and asked for him to get more fans brought over since there was no other option for my family. We never got the fans. We also had a huge issue with tons of spiders. They were all over the house and on the decks. We would walk into a new spider web every time we walked out to the decks. We were told that there would be someone out to look at that as well. That also never happened. The area where the hot tub and pool were was filthy as well. Empty water bottles, Popsicle containers and other trash along with tons of sand. I called Village realty every day except one day that we were there to see if our complaints were going to get handled. The day before we left i spoke with a manager who reported he would get back to me the next week which never happened. The storm came so I can understand why he did not contact me then but I have since called again and left a message which has still not been answered. We have rented through Village Realty along with several other company's in the last 21 years we have been going to obx and we have never had an experience like this before. My friends and family are still upset about their vacation and I have gotten nowhere with management. Will not be using this company again.
This was our first visit to Nags Head. We absolutely loved it and had a great time! The rental was beautiful and very well supplied. Had everything you could ask for and more! The only negative I would have is about the keyless door access. Very difficult time getting into the home with the code. We weren t even sure we d be able to get back in upon return from an outing. Could never get the bottom entrance to work. Regardless, we always made it in and had a great time!
We rented from Village Realty for a family reunion. Their communication was great using the Hospitality app. House was very clean. We had a problem with air conditioning twice but they responded quickly to fix the problem. I would recommend them as a realty agency. August 2019
We had a great experience planning a family vacation in Manteo through Village Realty. Every time we contacted them their agents were friendly and helpful. The house we rented was perfect and we had an amazing vacation. They even brought us a welcome basket with goodies. Would highly recommend their services to anyone.
This is our 3rd time staying at a Village Realty property, they are always so well maintained! Now with the key less entry feature on properties, checking in and out is such a breeze! Really appreciate the added convenience!
I rented a home in Duck through Village Realty. They were fantastic every step of the way. The original reservation process was quick and easy. When I had to change the dates they were just as quick and easy to work with, ensuring I had the same smooth process. The house was ready early, it was spotlessly clean with a goodie bag of cleaning supplies. The only reason I deducted one star is not something under Village Realty s control. The house allowed dogs and the living room upholstery smelled like wet dog. Otherwise perfect! Thank you :)
Last year in 2017 our entire family stayed in Ohana. We had a issues with our rental for the week of Aug 5-12th 2017. First of all the ac was broken when we arrived and we didn't notice until the second floor was about 80 degrees but someone had cut the fan on instead of auto to try to circulate the air. As soon as we noticed we contacted maintenance and they came out and corrected the problem immediately. But I feel like that should have been checked on prior to arrival that the fan was on auto and not on all the time. Some of our guests had woken up the second to last day of our stay with swollen eyes and congested sinuses, then noticed there was mold growing on the ac vents in some rooms including the upstairs family room. My grandmother and uncles took Clorox wipes and cleaned most of the vents off, but again I feel as those that clean the home should have noticed this issue not to mention it's a health concern. The upstairs sofa had ants trailing when we arrived with dust, food and whatever else anyone swept under there for what looked like the past summer, the house was not cleaned, the kitchen counters were sticky when we arrived as well that attracted ants prior to us even unpacking. The tiki bar was overgrown on the windows with vines, the bathroom had vines growing in it. We cut these when we arrived as we had children in our group. A few days later the landscape crew came out and cut some stuff but we had already taken care of the larger items that shouldn't have been an issue to begin with. There were multiple nails sticking up out of boards and multiple loose boards on walkways, decks and stairs. The stairs outside for the three stories also had mold and mildew on them that was so slick when it rained and someone fell. The pool also was filled when we arrived with a hose and was freezing, which was fine but a few days later the pool was cleaned Wednesday we let them know the pool was leaking water somehow because we had filled it up Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday the pool was below the skimmer again, the pool cleaner advised us to just keep the pool running and they would send someone out, we waited, filled the pool each day as it was below the skimmer to keep the pump from burning up. No one ever came while we were there. This year in 2018 when we decided to try again in a different home, we rented One of These Nights from August 3rd to August 10th 2018. When we arrived this year the home was in better shape than last years home but you would think paying $20,000 for a home for the week rental would be better taken care of. The dishwasher was broken and leaking in the floor (maintenance came out said they were going to be back, we never saw them again), the garbage disposal was broken and rotting food was in there smelling each time you walked past the sink, the downstairs ice maker leaked into the floor. I called maintenance as well due to the trash not being dumped said they'd be out that day, 2 days later they came. All around the pool there were weeds/grass growing through the fence and all around the pool deck, there was mold growing on the deck door frames/green and dripping, and the gate to get down to the beach my grandmother had a hard time getting through, well we all did as it looked like maintenance had not cleaned the sand from behind the gate since the home was built, if you were carrying a beach bag you had to toss it over in order to get through the gate, and we are all relatively small people. There was an outdoor shower/foot wash out on the deck near the beach before you entered the pool area, however the knobs were rusted off to cut the shower/foot wash on so couldn't use that. The maintenance on the homes is just not happening, and when you go to the beach for a week and pay what they are charging for the week, you would think the homes would be kept in better condition and you wouldn't have to take care of things or worry with certain things while you are there. We go to Nags Head every year, but will not be renting from Village Realty due to all of the issues we've had in their homes.
Second year we ve rented through Village. We ll continue to go through them! House is always clean and ready. No other company on the beach supplies full linen for partial stays. They even include a starter kit of trash bags, dish soap, and toilet paper. Who does that? Village. Nobody else. Through other companies we ve stayed in houses that didn t even have a sponge in three floors of house! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Village Realty!
We stayed for a week at OBX, I am sorry to say these guys doesn't have the basic courtesy to respond back to customer complaints.
They are very good at sending emails asking customer to inform them if we are checking out early or coming in late etc.,
I wrote about Hair Dryer not working and needs replacement - no response at all
I called soon after we arrived informing internet was not functioning, they promised to attend to it before the end of the day - no one ever visited or called back to check on this request
I wrote about refrigerator is smelling bad - no response at all
for the amount money these guys charge you expect good and professional service and response.
I have not see any company with such bad customer service and response.
Overall the house SS33 was nice! Could use some minor improvements. Showers need new fixtures! Kitchen needs some new storage containers, pots, and pans! Needs to have another regular sized refrigerator! The walkway to the beach was awesome! Real private area!
