We tried to get seated with a group of 4 but were told that they only had room for a group of 6. Yes, this sounds crazy. We were turned down rudely and the guy hosting said he would take his chances that a group of 6 would show up. There was not anyone else waiting and yet they wouldn t let us eat. I wish I could rate them with zero stars!

Dirty and the deck has a moldy ceiling. Food is over priced and sucks. Service is absolutely slow, it took us almost 2 hours for dinner starting at 7pm. Waitress barely knew what state she was in. The tables and chairs looked like they came from a VFW hall in 1974.
Avoid the Whitefish! Buried in a pile of mozzarella (not parmesan crusted as per menu). Waitress has no idea what she is doing. Wrong menu (lunch instead of dinner)...no silverware or napkins...no apologies...doesn't clear dirty dishes from tables...brought salad while still enjoying appetizer. The view? It's of the harbor. I live on a lake...I've seen docked boats before.
Order a beer here you would think a dive bar would serve great drinks, b.they are beyond horrible and skimpy. I have tried this the last 3 years and it always a bad deal. 27.00 for 3 drinks, the smallest I have ever seen. I would be happy to pay that price for a normal or good drink, these were horrible. Everything in the place is super old, a dump bar would be a step up.
My husband and I often travel around Michigan, and when we are by the lake shore, we like to dine at restaurants with a nice view of the water. Villa Marine had a decent view of Betsie Lake. But.....the owners must be trying to save on the electric bill because they only turned the air conditioning on once while we were there, and only for a little while. The temperature outside was in the mid 80 s, and so was the inside of the restaurant. The food was just okay, but a little overpriced. I definitely would not go there if I am ever in Frankfort again. It was so hot in there, the sad salads looked even more sad because all of the lettuce was wilted. Additionally, they do not have a drink menu, only a handwritten piece of paper for you to look at to order your drinks. My two stars are two thumbs down.
We had wings and pizza. Arrived in good time and server was good. The restaurant has a great waterfront view and plenty of seating. Two negatives...price is high. You can get pizza at the brewery for less, as well as other menu items. There was a lot of foul language loud enough to be heard in the dining area coming out of the kitchen. Kinda puts a damper on date night.
We went during the week after the 4th of July, they seemed under-staffed. They bused tables and put the dirty dishes on a table across from us. The price was OK but the food was nothing to talk about. The view from the back deck was the best thing.
If I could give less than 1 star I would. We ordered the whitefish and it was disgusting! The menu stated poppyseed encrusted Parmesan whitefish. It came out while we were eating our salads. The whitefish came out under a pile of mozzarella and mayonnaise and who knows what else that wasn t specified on the menu, almost like a dip. It looked and smelled bad! They replaced it with citrus salmon. The salmon had no taste and was undercooked. It came out with an unidentified blob of something atop the fish. Didn t eat that either! I am not looking forward to the bill! They didn t clear our plates, either. I took a picture but It won t let me post!
The food was wonderful, and our waitress was amazing! When I told her I wanted something fruity and sweet; she brought me the perfect drink. They were also very accommodating when I asked for no straws, and no plastic cups for the salsa and sour cream!
My only complaint would be they don't have a changing station for babies/toddlers.
Sat out on the back patio facing the marina. Good food, good service. City is currently working on the water main in the street next to the place. Lots of noise. Very pleasant when they went to break. Hope they'll have it wrapped up soon. Will be going back!
The hostess was sweet. But as she was walking us to our table another server sarcastically told her make sure they know they only have 5 minutes to order and they can only order deep fried food. I mean she really could have just told us that, we were standing right there. Luckily we had a different server and he was very nice.
We were on a day trip along the Northern Lake Michigan coast to visit some of our favorite little summer towns during the winter. It's almost as beautiful in the winter and still holds it's charm. Even though it was a Saturday, the quaint shops and attractions are generally closed during the winter months. Which leaves sightseeing, drives through the wooded countryside with wildlife popping up here and there and the beautiful beach to explore and admire. Lake Michigan has a way of beckoning you to it and we found ourselves a way down to the beach for a long walk on the cold, windy, beautiful beach! Before heading back home, we needed to "re-fuel" and chose Frankfort, MI as our place to stop. We decided to find Main Street which is where almost ALL the restaurants and stores are located in this quaint little beach town. We found this nice pub/restaurant to try. To my delight, way through to the "back"the of the restaurant which faces towards the water and Marina, there were a few tables with large windows. These tables where next to the door which led to the outdoor seating area. It would be a beautiful and romantic spot to eat in the summer during, which provided cover from the hot sun in the day. At night, they had "market lights" which would dimly light the eating area overlooking the Marina and you could hear the waves of the beach nearby! The restaurant prices are reasonable, I realize that term is relative and different for everyone, but they were "middle of the road pricing". We chose Mexican meals that were perfectly seasoned, made with fresh ingredients (always impressive during the winter months) and the portions were so large we easily had two meals a piece out of our selection. The menu is VERY LARGE and the variety of choices was impressive. The bar beer, liquor and wine selections were a bit pricey. Especially the wine!!!! I just wanted a glass of Riesling, bottled from Traverse City, MI and it was $12+ a glass! You can go to Meijer grocery store and pick up a bottle of that wine for about the same price! (So I would say that their menu was what earned my higher rating.) Since there are only a few restaurants in Frankfort, MI, I suppose they take advantage of demand and availability! (The closest Meijer's store was about 50 miles away! ) They have quite a few tables there, a modern "juke box", and 1 pool table. I would say their best feature is variety and quantity of the food! One biggest surprises that I have to say I have NEVER SEEN on a menu was that you could bring your newly caught, fresh fish caught that day and they would cook it to your liking!!! It made me smile because it goes along with the entire charm of the Northern MI small beach towns!!! Overall, I recommend this pub/ restaurant for the kind wait staff, generous and tasty meal choices and the variety of food and drinks they offer. Enjoy!!
The food here is great u get what u pay for. The pizza here is one of my favorites on the menu an a couple other dishes here are great. My husband an i always get hot food. Great place
If you're looking for the perfect tavern, with a small town vibe, and fair priced delicious food options, this is the place for you. When you walk in, don't be afraid to make friends with the bartender, usually always a great person back there.
Nice bar with friendly, attentive staff. I had the Pearce sandwich and it was amazing! Lots of craft beer to choose from! Highly recommend stopping in!
The bartender Sheena does it all. A true perpetual server. A skill, having been and trained oh so many I can say, is a gift and a talent. Great job from Hoopers Farm Gardens
This place is highly disappointing. I have been here with my family twice, despite having an underwhelming first experience. The first time, our waitress was rude and flippant, as if waiting on us was a waste of her time. She made several snide remarks throughout the meal and when we needed separate checks she acted as if it was a huge inconvenience to her, as she threw the checks in a pile on the table and walked away. The second trip to Villa Marine was just as disappointing. Our beer was not good and we didn't drink it but the manager refused to take it off the bill. Our waitress forgot to put in one of our orders. She spilled a water on us. The food was bland and not worth the money.
Needless to say, we will not be coming back for a third visit.
We sat at the bar due to lack of an available table. All good! The bartender was very friendly and we were able to have dinner at the bar. We split the whole rack of ribs...GREAT! They were meaty and delicious. Came right off the bone. The sides of fries( with the skin on) and cole slaw( vinegar based) were perfect. All and all we were very happy with our dinner and service!
Great restaurant! Awesome for locals and tourists! Good food, and fish! Only thing negative about our experiences has been the wait has always been long. Overall would recommend going there if you are in town and looking for some good local food.
Ate on the back deck. Beautiful! Absolutely excellent food. Kids ate practically every bite! (And there's no higher compliment than that!) The perch sandwich was incredible. Our server, Brennan, was very attentive and helpful regarding answering food allergy-related questions. Highly recommend!
This place is awful. Poor service, food had no flavor. We were done with our food by the time our drinks came, the waiter blamed the bartender for lack of sodas and tea. Don't go here.
My family and I returned after several months and we we're not disappointed. I went for the Nachos by myself, mistake, way to good and incredibly large platter. This one is a share dish. My son tried the tugboat pizza again fantastic. My wife tried one of the chicken sandwiches and was pleased. We'll be back!
Stopped in for a drink, then an appetizer, then dinner. Nice bar, with good choices of craft beer as well as the "standards". The well drink stock runs from good to top of the line. The fried mushrooms were very good. Dinner was Nachos, again very good as well as large portion. My wife and I shared the Nachos, we were both stuffed. We will return!
Food is great, the service not so much!! Called ahead when we got there we sat at the bar and 2 woman were standing there and neither one asked us for a drink nor what we were there for!!! One was a manager!! The food might really be worth it though!!!!
Good food at a good price . The service was awesome , the staff was all friendly and they did a great job of taking care of everyone. Tracy was my waitress, she had a great smile and her service was outstanding i really enjoyed .
