Villa D' Carlo Restaurant Review

My favorite Italian restaurant of all time! I am leaving and already looking forward to coming back! I love everything about this place! The atmosphere is inviting and comfortable, the service impeccable and the food the stuff of dreams! When you are done you can take a relaxing stroll along the lake front! So if your thinking about going ... stop thinking and get in your car and go ... I guarantee you'll be glad you did!

New in the neighborhood so I thought I'd order a pizza since I can just walk over and pick it up. 1st time ordering from Carlo. Last time too. Ordered a 12" sausage pizza, well done. It was bland. Hardly any sauce taste to it. Real thin. Crust was soft and was NOT well done. The cheese was as if it was just cooked long enough to melt. No browning of cheese like it should be with well done pizza. Maybe they don't know that. I walked home with it maybe 3 minutes it took and it was 85 degrees out. Pizza was not hot. Remember Carlo, you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

Leftovers, you can see no browning of the cheese denoting well done. Minimal sauce. Well done was not noted on my receipt.

Awful, awful, awful. Thought it would be good because of many people eating outside. Obviously because of convenience, hotel across the street and high traffic area. Food tasted like canned food, and pizza is even worse, garbage that is hard to compare. Should be renamed "Villa de Garbage"

Best thin crust pizza in town by a long shot. Their sausage is honestly the only sausage pizza I ve ever actually liked.

Not a fan of dining in in general so just get it to go and enjoy at home :)

Slow service. Several parties arrived after us, were served before us and had left while we waited 90 minutes for the kitchen to get around to our order. The manager's short staffed excuse was laughable.
No plans to return.

One of the best places in town by far overall. Their pizza is the bee's knees, also.

Absolutely garbage, this place is run like garbage, service is sub par, every single food on the menu is frozen, never fresh. It's loud, and unpleasant and unclean. Will never eat here again, or step foot near here again.

We went there on a Thursday night with a group of 6. The place was dead, maybe 15 people in the entire restaurant. Took 30 minutes before we saw a waiter. Ordered 2 pizzas and a bomber. Took almost an hour to get the food. We even had to go to the waiter station to get our own carry out container. Pizza was pretty good, but service was HORRIBLE. Complained by email the next day. Never got a reply. NEVER AGAIN! There are too many good places in Kenosha to eat that I can spend my money at.

Great old school Italian food, and love the grasshopper pie. That owner guy is supper funny.

Food was good, and good food takes time. Be ready to wait a while. This is not a place to rush through dinner. Sit back and enjoy some time with your friends and family. There will be a lot less talking when the food gets to the table.

It had good food. A little expensive but the amount of food you get makes up for it. It's a quiet place with a nice atmosphere for a date.

Dine in experience isn't too bad but forget about trying to get a delivery. Hours are clearly stated on their website, as well as google, yet there have been NUMEROUS times where I've called for a delivery as early as 7:00 and not gotten an answer. The phone will just ring and ring until it gets closer to close. Eventually, after I've been calling and calling someone finally answers and I hear "Sorry, we're closed" If you are too lazy to make any more delivery's for the night at least have the curtsey to answer the damn phone on the first or second call. DO NOT WAIT until it's close enough to tell customers you're closed already. I could understand if this was a one time occurrence, but it has been time after time with this place. Lazy and unprofessional. They either need to change their hours for delivery or hire some people who actually want to work.

Villa Decarlo is such a beautiful and fun place to dine. They have remodeled the bar area, had a jazz band outside and the food was excellent.

We were out and decided to stop for some of their famous thin crust pizza. We'd tried a new offering the last time, something called a cheeseburger pizza. We ordered a large cheeseburger pizza along with a salad. My wife had a parmesean dressing (a house specialty) on her salad and she loved it. The salads were crisp and freshly made, not something that had been assembled hours before. Our pizza came and it was thin and crisp. The sauce was a mixture of mustard and ketchup instead of the usual, it had hamburger and onion and a nice even coating of cheese. After cooking a topping of lettuce and coarsely chopped pickles were added as toppings. The contrast of the thin crunchy crust and the taste of a wonderful cheeseburger make this our new favorite!

Pizza at it finest, thanks to your excellent staff during these trying times. Till we EAT again.

Waitres was not good at all food took forever to come out when food finally came out it didnt have no flavor i think they should retrain there waitress cuz she was rude and i usually leave a nice tip for people in the resturant business but the tip i give hired anther outside waitress..

Very friendly and polite and the food was wonderful this was my first time there for my birthday and I loved it I will be back and I will tell all my friends you guys were great

Best thin crust pizza in town...plus its super affordable! The cornmeal they use to keep the crust from sticking is my favorite part! The relish tray with kidney bean salad and pasta salad is a must... Even with pizza.

Very Disappointed. Used to be one of my favorite places years ago. Wanted to check out if it is still good before I started bringing my kids here. One of the few places that charges for extra sauce, and edge pieces were still dry. Pizza sauce tasted like tomato paste with little or no seasoning/flavor other than canned tomato. Coffee was burnt. Clearly the pot had sat for hours before served to me. I pointed out it was burnt and terrible and asked to have it poured out, and I was still charged for it. I don t argue the bill, I just won t go back. Plenty of other places that have good food and service.

We started with a PHENOMENAL appetizer which had a variety of meats and cheeses. I felt honored to try it out as at the time they just started the dish a few days prior!Besides their Pizza, their Pasta dishes are incredible! Rob talked about each of those traditional pasta dishes are made right at the restaurant

Always love Villa D' Carlo's pizza. Favorite of course is always sausage and cheese pizza. Of course they have many different Italian entrees. I have had the veal Parmesan which is also delicious.

The atmosphere at the restaurant is of a whimsical quality with a bit of a home town feel to it. The leather round seats are great to sit in and you can fall asleep in them.

They also have an outdoor patio, on a warm spring / summer day you can enjoy authentic Italian fare as you enjoy the downtown view.

They have a private dining area in the basement - and I have experienced dining in the basement for a wedding rehearsal dinner.

If you are looking for local authentic Italian fare in Kenosha, then this is the place to go. They are family friendly as well.

Ate here about two years ago. Loved it so much i had to come back with the family. Lasagne, chicken marsala and veal were all delicious and plenty of food! I'll be back!!

Overpriced bland food that made me sick almost immediately. The beef soup smelled foul like rancid cheese, Im 99% sure they just threw Campbell's soup into a pot and just called it a day. A few bites of that already started to make me feel sick. I ordered the Scrol sandwich (at least thats what was on the menu) and was given the dish which was $10 extra. That was very bland and dry and made me feel even more sick. Idk if people outside the chicago vicinity just dont know what food is or if i was just unlucky, but I probably should've just played it safe and went to Wendy's. The waitress was nice, and i thought the neon pink bathroom sign they sat by was cool. Otherwise I couldnt tell if i was in indiana or Wisconsin but as soon as i get home ill probably be running to the bathroom. If i can make it.

Very nice! Limited seating so call ahead for reservations. Wonderful atmosphere and prompt service.

It was like eating "real food" again. Things are prepared with care and service is great.

Very eclectic decors. Foods very good & usually consistent in quality. Out door dining during summer months.

Always great food. Never have a problem. They're definitely are on top of their carryout orders. Dinner was perfect tonight. When ever family comes in town this is their first dinner stop. Thanks for being a staple in our community.

Horrible food. Bland gnocchi, bland sauce, flavorless meatballs, weird appetizers.

Great thin crust pizza with numerous options. Generic Italian style eatery for everything else.
If you go there for anything other than pizza and drinks, you are likely to be underwhelmed.
When it gets crowded, the service can suffer. When our meal seemed to be delayed, the server came to apologise several times and to let us know that we were not forgotten.
Most things are relatively bland. However, to make it in Kenosha for over 50 years, they must be doing something right. And that is their pizza, service and location.
They have a large room available for special events, meetings or for larger groups. Outdoor seating in summer time.
Seasonal decorations are tastefully gaudy. Wierd music playlist.

The Pizza is very good especially the cornmeal on the bottom of the pizza that makes it a little crunchy. Picking up your order is a little chaotic however because they are very busy and the pickup place is in the same spot as the dining area

Excellent pizza and Italian food. The pizza crust, sauce, and sausage flavor are spot on! You have to try their homemade ranch salad dressing. It's delicious !

The Prime Rib was mostly grizzle and fat...yuck ! The waitress was unconcerned with us. Never going back.

Food is still good, but service was less than expected. Waitress never brought extras we asked for and seemed to do the minimum necessary to serve us. We've been going here 40 years, seems to get progressively worse on the service end. Food is still worth the trip...... so far.

Great thin crust pizza! Kid friendly and you get crayons to write on the table cloth.

Ok...nobody can make this up! Ordered 2 pizzas and told 20 to 30 min. Arrived 25 min later. Paid and was told pizzas done in 2 min..they are in oven. 20 min later, mu husband checked on progress, was told they are almost done. Waited 10 more min, asked waitress to check on est wait. Waitress stated they are the next to go in. WHAT?? The waitress went to the kitchen as we were standing at pick up window and grabbed our pizzas and said "these need to go in next". The guy stringing us along the whole time said "shut up Lilly, i told them they are cooking". Finally, after one hour, we got our undercooked pizzas. We did enjoy the show though....one cook tried to slide pizza off and onto cardboard and the whole topping slid off and not the pizza. Watched while he picked it up and put it back on and sent it out. Watched a waitress ring in an order wrong and had to give the one for free and make a new one the right way. Then there was the waitress that got a table of 3 pizzas all wrong and had to do remakes. Then...oh this is good...man and 2 sons come in and were told pizza not ready, he goes to the bar and orders a soda for his son and there was some words exchanged with a young guy behind the bar..ar the end of the conversation, dude ordering a soda told him "i can meet you outside just us 2". Great show...terrible service and mediocre pizza. They did offer us a 2 Liter of soda for free??? What?? For future reference, when you upset a customer by blatantly continually lying to them, you apologize and offer them a soda or even a glass of water while they wait. Or here is a crazy idea...just be honest and say it will be an hour for pick up. Hmmmmm....that could work.

Havent been here in years but it was pretty good. Staff could be friendlier but the food was pretty good.

The food is good, yet a tad big pricey. Its a nice atmosphere and it was one of the first places I told my parents to check out when they moved up here. I dig the atmosphere and I like being right in the middle of the downtown so I can walk to a bar when I am done. Its good for a nice night out with friends!

My family and I chose to have our Mother's Day Dinner here. Big Mistake!!! Jenny was our server and was very irritated that we sat in her section. When asking about menu items, she pretended to not know what they were. As we are trying to enjoy our appetizers, all we heard in the background is our server complaining with the other server that she should have been cut and going home. We felt unwelcome and decided to have them wrap up our pizza to go. As we were walking in the parking lot, another family had asked us what was wrong and said that they had experienced the same treatment. Bad for business Carlos! I will not be back. I'll stick with The Brat Stop.

Our son called this 'the best meal he had in his life'. We hadn't been in a while and the remodeled bar looks nice.

Our waitress was amazing and the food (pizza!) was served hot and fresh.

They say if you are going through hell to keep on going...well Villa D'Carlo (Carl's Pizza) is one place to walk past. My journey began with walking through the front door and into a garden full of fake plastic flowers covered in cobwebs. Hoping that the lack of attention to decor meant great attention given to the food, I continued with my journey. I sat down and proceeded to look for a wine list, after all we were at an Italian restaurant, and when one was not found I asked our waitress only to be told that there isn't one. So I ordered the house cab, which I can only assume came from a jug of Carlo Rossi. After studying the food menu I thought let's go with the Steak Vesuvio. When I went to order my steak, I was told they were out of filets. I moved onto option two and ordered broasted chicken. You know chicken that is roasted and broiled. About 15 minutes after ordering a member of my party was informed that the basil pesto pizza she ordered was not available because they ran out of pesto. Who runs out of pesto- it's basil, olive oil and pine nuts. Finally the food comes out. I was anticipating some juicy broasted chicken but was confronted with deep fried chicken. At that point I realized I was eating dinner...at least not at Villa D'Carlo....aka Carl's pizza.

I LOVE their pizza! The salads are always fresh as well and every waiter/waitress I had was always friendly.
