Great place to go find a forever friend. There's a clinic on Saturdays as well as a resale shop on the other side of the building. Lots of great stuff and all the proceeds go right back to the animals.

Very nice shelter. Clean enclosures. Animals looked clean. They had treats at every pen. Most of the dogs knew how to sit on command. They had more detailed information about the animals as to whether or not they were good with children, cats, and other dogs. Nice visitation area. Applications were not hard to get through. Staff was incredibly helpful. Nice little shop for things that a new owner might need.

Good care takers here and the and almost all the animals seem to be happy here in there short stay... Crazy... Also pretty clean..

My mother in law got a puppy last week that they said was deaf. They made us pay for training before she could adopt him. Turns out he isn't deaf and doesn't need any special training. I'm glad he isn't deaf but they shouldn't have lied and made us pay for training.

Very clean and respectful of the animals.
On Saturday's they have *Cardio4Canines.... Very nice to see that. Most of the time the dogs are in a cage. So this is a great idea.

Best place in Evansville to give an animal a new home

iwill never go back again. got up early on my day off so i could take my dog. got there at 730 waited 2 more hours then they said the vet wont be here for another 45 minutes. and i was 25th in line. told me no guarantee that they could even get to me. thanks for wasting my time!!!

Its seems a little sketchy on the outside, but that's just Evansville in general. Anyways this place is awesome! The staff is friendly and highly knowledgeable. I got my bunny spayed here for 75 dollars and nails cut for 5 dollars!!! That's a steal y'all. In Indianapolis it's around 300-400+ dollars for rabbits!! Y'all its worth the drive to go here, especially with the excellent care they have for animals. You can adopt rabbits here too!! Also, they have random pet items you can buy for cheap! I got a 5 dollar, double metal bowl thing with a fancy holder on it. I'm super impressed with this place and how clean it is inside!!! <3 MUCH LOVE.

We adopted two puppies from here today and they made sure our dog got along with them in an indoor and outdoor setting. They spayed and neutered the puppies for us also. Wonderful place to adopt!

It was just so sad and i dont feel like the dogs were getting enough attention but for the most part they seem to take good care of the animals.

Great place to go shopping for a family pet. As long as you understand that the cost of adoption includes all shots, radio tag chipping, and any accrued kennel cost. It cost a little to be a responsible pet owner.

When my husband and I set out to adopt a cat from the Vanderburgh Humane Society, we wanted to make sure we found a compatible match for our dog, Olive. The staff was incredibly patient as Olive met several cats. We finally found Malcolm. He has been a loving member of our family now for 5 years. I can't speak highly enough of the facilities, staff, and adoption experience at VHS!

Went here to look for adopting a dog. They allow you to meet and play with all the animals. Adoption fees are a good price as well.

The staff was so nice as were the animals. The caretakers let's us pick out an animal to play with in the play room. There is a little room for just cats of which they label boy or girl on the cats. There are bunnies here to feed and kennels A and B are for the big dogs. While they have a small kennel for small dogs. You can bring your pet here. Or and animal you find and they will be more than happy to help you. I had a great time there. I hope everyone does too!

Great place to get a pet. Also have a low-cost clinic for spaying/neutering, nail trimming, and shots.

I appreciate any organization that attempts to be moral and helpful. The effort is definitely there in both of these aspects at this location. If you are in search of helping an animal, this is the place to go.

The staff is amazing, the facility is clean, the animals are truly cared for here and I couldn't be more pleased with our experience.

hi so i just want to write this to complain about one thing:
No supervision in the cat room.
Now before you read this, the cats are fine, they aren't the ones that need supervision. Me and my friend (and my friends mom) went to VHS a month or two ago to play with some of the cats because I'm looking to adopt a kitten soon and wanted to see if there were any there that I'd be able to get then. We were in there for a few minutes just playing with the cats etc. then this 7-8 year old girl walks in and we're like okay whatever. she's accompanied by her grandmother and her mom from what it seems and she just starts walking around and doing the same as us... but something was strange. She took a blanket that was in the room and started trying to wrap a kitten that was IN HEAT inside of the blanket and the cat is literally constantly screaming at her and her parents are on their phones. me and my friend look at her and she stopped for a minute. after that single minute of her stopping, SHE DOES IT AGAIN. and the only time her parents told her to stop was when me and my friend had to tell her to be gentle with the cats. We are by no means any sort of adult. There was no worker in there to watch over the cats and make sure nobody was doing things like the girl was. She was very much old enough to understand how to be gentle with a cat. Also not sure if this is even allowed but the people that brought her had their own cat snacks with them and were feeding the cats?? I do love this place but you guys NEED to get someone in that room to make sure things like this don't happen.

Thay are the best people and thay take good care of your animals and thay site and talk to you

Had an excellent experience! We hung out in the cat lounge, and got to know several kitties before deciding who to adopt. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Very clean and a large selection of potential pets.

Love hitting up the VHS thrift shop on Saturdays. Such a cheap date and we never leave empty handed. Plus all money goes to a good cause. VHS is just a great place for animals.

I just want to tell all the employees and volunteers what wonderful people they are! You should all be very proud of yourselves. I know you are all under pressure, so when things get too bad, please know we all appreciate you and what you do.

Love this place. We got our dog here about 9 years ago and we love her to death.

We had to take our dog to the humane society because our baby is allergic so we went here and everyone was very nice and helpful. They treated us with respect.

VERY RUDE and absolutely no help. Will not be back.

Kennels were nice size, separate areas for interacting with the dogs. And a nice greenspace area is available for potty breaks.

Adopted a puppy from the Vanderburgh Humane Society a few months ago. I have to say that my wife and I are pleased with the great service we have received from this agency. In addition, there is veterinarian services on certain days that you can receive help with your animal at a low and affordable cost for shots and check ups. We adopted, Stella, a beagle of 7-8 months. She is a beautiful dog and wonderful addition to our family. While visiting there, the atmosphere was pleasant even with the dogs barking and received great customer service. We were able to walk Stella and spend some time with her before adopting. The whole process was smooth and resulted in a great experience. Stella is currently living the life in her forever home and is doing great. She has learned 8-9 commands in just 3 months. She is still learning "no" and "stop" but has several other commands under her belt already. Her mommy, daddy, and brother were also at the Vanderburgh Humane Society. Stella is full of energy and is currently enjoying all the love we have to give. She has grown and is flourishing well. We are happy with our experience with VHS and highly suggest for others to give them a look and see if you can give an animal a forever home. Thank you Vanderburgh Humane Society for all that you have done for Stella and all the other animals. You are a true asset to the community of Evansville, Indiana.

The best place to adopt a pet fully vetted, healthy, and happy. Very affordable spay, neuter, and vaccine clinic services. An excellent environment where you know the animals are truly cared for and loved until adoption.

Vanderburgh Humane Society is a great place to get you pets spayed or neutered dog spayed and if you can,catch the feral for vaccines and spay or nuter to return them back to their area. Very clean

They work hard for the animals. If they are hurt they care for them... Give them a fighting and fair chance for a good life.
