Nice family slightly upscale restaurant. Large menue with.many comfort foods. Pleasant dining.

Start to finish, Val was amazing to work with for my daughters bridal shower. She was open to our decorating ideas and even helped place our decorations. Oh, the food was fantastic as always. My husband and I dine out at Vals often and the food never disapoints and it did not for this special time. Oh, her waitresses were friendly, helpful and attentive. Thank you Amy and Morgan and Val for making this day as perfect as it was!!!!

Hidden gem! Fried clams to die for and the lamb was juicy and outstanding. My girlfriends and I love the place. Nice parking

Attentive courteous friendly wait staff. Delicious food. Could use a larger booth to relax and space for our laughter!!

Val's offers a great price with impeccable service. My husband and I love the way the owner will make her rounds in the restaurant and make it a point to greet her patrons. She makes people feel welcome even during Covid she wears her mask and still makes her rounds in a safe and friendly manner. The wine and beer selection is great and they offer a wide variety of options on the menu. Most importantly the food is amazing! We recommend this restaurant 10 out of 10 times to anyone we meet.

Menu has changed from what we remembered. Liked the old menu better. Disappointed with the food description in the menu didnt match the food, and also disappointed with quality of food. No steaks anymore?

Excellent service, sometimes quit busy with a full parking lot during the weekend. The food is really good though, worth a try

I was really pleasantly surprised. I only had one item off the menu, the Caprese Salad, but it was awesome! The atmosphere in the lounge is great as well. I loved the fireplace, it was perfect on a chilly day. I'll definitely be back to try more food there.

Absolutely love this place ! Food is awesome! The chicken parmesan and the Absolut Mango Sour is such a fresh tasting drink

On Sunday November 3 my family and I took our dad out for lunch, we were celebrating his 76 birthday. Val's Restaurant came to mind because I had celebrated with family there years prior for my sweet 16, I had happy memories and eagerly looked forward to their house dressing. But not long after being seated we came to realize that it's gone down in quality, the employees, while our waiter was attentive, they looked unhappy.

We had ordered 2 appetizers, my brother in law ordered the chili dish as a side to his main course. Not long after something fell onto our table and his chili bowl. I looked up and saw that the ceiling tile was soaked in water. It had landed on the table between us, on my brother in law's arm and the floor. My sister got up to let someone know and we were quickly moved to another table.

An older gentleman apologized, asked if we wanted to replace the chili, and assured us Val, the owner would be over shortly to speak with us. Our meals arrived promptly which was nice but Val never showed up. We saw her walking around us, not even looking in our direction. We sat for a little while, watching the ceiling bulge, water pouring onto the floor, eventually it collapsed completely.

Meanwhile my elderly father who was supposed to be enjoying a family lunch, was upset. My husband and I live up north and made the 4 hour drive as a surprise since it's very rare we are all together.

And then the bill came.

Total came to $142 and change. Nothing was taken off the bill, no discount, not even the chili that was ruined from the wet ceiling. Our water, Gabriel, was so helpful and we could tell he wanted to help and he did in any way he could. We over heard him ask the older gentleman if he should take anything off the bill but did not hear his reply.

We sat in astonishment, personally I felt bad because I had picked Val's based on the memory I had. I'm not saying we should of had the whole meal for free, but by the time we left Val never came over to us. We never recieved an apology to our faces except the one from the older gentleman who looked very overwhelmed. To say the least we were heartbroken.

And the best part was this, on our way out the door, in passing, the same older gentleman said"sorry about the leak!"

Needless to say we will not be back and if you are consering this establishment, my recommendation is to go elsewhere.

Ambience is great. Hostesses were professional and courteous. Building isn't much to look at from the outside but when you step in, it's pretty nice. I swear it felt like I had walked into one of those ski lodges in the movies...though I think that just might be me...lol Good food, prices in line with most restaurants. Overall good place to chill and have dinner or lunch...

Great food! We were there celebrating s birthday and the place was busy. We never felt neglected. Service was excellent!

Lasagna was not very good. Too heavy. Meatballs awful. Wouldn't order them again.

Not sure why everybody gave it bad reviews. It's one of the best and only restaurants of its kind in the area, and reasonably priced at that. Fishermans platter was both plentiful and cheap. The sangria was also really good! Friends or family, its an overall great restaurant.

Most tasteless and dry burger I've ever had. My daughter's burger was the same. Awful. Our friends had the clam chowder...it was luke warm. Was my second time there...both experiences were terrible.

The veal park was horrible, veal tasted watery. Never had a bad meal there, very disappointed

The food was good Susan had the fisherman's plate and I had the liver and onions and bacon and we both liked it. Try val's in Holden Massachusetts and you will not be disappointed.

I was there visiting family and they treated me out to Val's. It was a great experience from the seating to the eating. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I had ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. When it came to the table I couldn't believe my eyes. I knew I would need a to go box right from the start. LOL The food was delicious. The meatballs were big and homemade. The rest of our party totally enjoyed their meal and was delighted with the portions as well. Their prices are very reasonable and you get your monies worth. I will return there on my next visit and recommend them to everyone. Thank you Val's for a meal fit for a queen. :)

Been going here for years. Prices are fair and portions are large. Seafood specials are always spot on. My fiance and I frequent this place. Never disappointed. If you haven't been in recent years go back! Val is also there often, visiting and talking with the customers. Excellent all around.

Have gone there several times, but won't again. Last time we ordered fish, and mine tasted funny, and not in a good way. When I sent it back, the owner came to the table and wanted to argue with me, as if it was my fault! Then she went into the kitchen and started chewing someone out with some of the nastiest language I've heard since the Army. There was no offer to replace the meal or refund the bill either. Thanks for the $25 salad, Val. **Update** haven't gone back since, noticed parking lot completely empty last few times we drove by there.

My colleagues think this place is awesome. It is just a below average family restaurant

I will tell you this: I have had way worse Captains Platters. The portions are generous, the price fair. I'd go back.

Been here at least 8 times, consistently delicious with good service. Can't ask for better! I had the salmon Florentine, perfection.

We had a lunch here after my Dads funeral service. We rented out the back room for about 30 people.
The room itself was very clean and set up beautifully. It probably could've accommodated up to 50 people comfortably.
The dinner we chose was salad, baked paddock, corn and vegetable lasagna. Everyone raved about the food!

Not a pleasant place...the food was not good...the nachos were piled high with shredded salad and 5 olives and 4 jalapeno peppers...service...we had the nicest waitress...the only nice one in the place...who wasn't even our waitress...

Lovely place! Had the chicken parmesan (our litmus test for Italian food) and it was delicious. The service was top notch and the prices were good. Will be back!

4/14/2018 Booked a table for family of 8 We all enjoyed our meals and desserts. Our server Meghan V was wonderful. The salad dressing is awesome. Had to buy 2 bottles to take home.

Absolutely amazing food. I cannot stress enough how great the food is here. From the bread to the entrees and the fantastic desserts, you can't go wrong here. The prices are a little on the higher side, but the quality and taste are well worth it.

One downside to having such a tasty restaurant is that it gets busy. Quick.

I have eaten here 8 times now and all but once I waited 30+ minutes (including once on a weekday night!). The one time I did not have to wait was when I went for lunch.

Definitely save room for dessert and if it is a large party (more than 4) make reservations.

Dinner last night, my meal was very good, my husband had cold food, steak tips served on a cold casserole dish, cold potato. Server was Gabe who was nervous and couldn't seem to get it right even though it was sent back. We come all the time so we know val. She should be shown this. Anice &Mel Smith.

Why do I love it?? Delicious food with lots of gluten free options. And delicious gluten free dessert options also. kind and thoughtful staff too!

Food is always good at Val's. Val is a great host. Parking lot is usually packed. I frankly don't know where some of these uncomplimentary reviews are coming from. Overpriced? They haven't been out much.

Chile with pulled pork, a salad and the mahi-mahi special - delicious! Can't believe they ran out of mulled wine!

Outstanding Family Restaurant great atmosphere and the food selection is perfect

Love this place, would give a 5 star rating if they wouldn't be selling Bean Counter deserts, you don't need so many seafood options if you are an italian resturant, but you also barely offer any chicken options other than a sandwich or a add-in on pasta...which is upsetting because you could get those first timers who don't eat red meat, or are allergic to seafood, also....suggestion...how a option for people who have to have low sodium or are diabetics since I know some of the locals are elders who could have these issues.

Seriously though create your own signature deserts. These bean counter cakes are nasty, bland, and have nooooo flavor and well...I wouldn't dare recommend them. EVER.

Simply, the best fried seafood platter anywhere! They nail it. The batter and fry is on point! Well seasoned and served with delicious coleslaw and curly fries. I usually eat this a few times a year. Since discovering Val's, it is the only thing I will order. Although, everything else looks delicious too! The service is fantastic and everyone is friendly. The only negative I could possibly offer is that there is way too much food for one sitting! Take a bow, Val's. You deserve it!

Great food and great service
Very reasonable prices.

Went to Vals tonight with some friends and we were all very satisfied with our meals. I have a special diet due to food intolerances and they prepared a meal that I could eat and enjoy. The service was excellent and I was made to feel very welcome with my 6 month old too. The last time I went out to eat was also at Vals, the day before she was born. I really like Vals and will return again.

Accommodating at a sad time in our family. Good buffet, good service.

Good food, great staff. Gets busy on weekends but they have tables to wait at and you can get drinks and apps before being seated. We've had most if the menu over the last few years and always been happy.
