My husband had triple bypass surgery on January 2016. I can't say enough about the wonderful treatment they gave my husband and me. The doctors, nurses and staff were wonderful in keeping us informed on the procedures and what he should expect during his recovery. They were just as attentive to me even in showing me how to read the monitors on all the machines he was attached to. During his surgery there was Tom a volunteer in the waiting room who would go check with the nurses to keep me updated on his surgery this calming my nerves when it went longer than expected. They also had a room for me at the beautiful Bed and Breakfast style Fisher House which is located on the same campus as the hospital. The after care has been just as wonderful with nurses and PT coming to our home to care for my husband. We are so grateful to the VA!

Been there many times. However, while going to the Dental Department, to recurve my dentures, Dr. Chen, CND here staff were FANTASTIC! Not only did I receive a beautiful set of Dentures, but kind, professional service as well. Thank you VA.

This is the best VA FACILITY AND STAFF, i have EVER had. After an unexpected ER visit, I figured for the worst...boy... was i shocked!! Excellent bedside manner, professionalism, compassion... I couldn t believe I was in the VA! Much better than any care, I have actually had to pay through insurance. Thank you.

My father past away here a couple of years ago. The nurses and doctors were so great. We live 4 hours away but there was no room at the VA in our area. My family came to say good bye and my kids who were small 3 to 6 at the time. The security made a hard situation way worse. My kids were restless my husband took them outside the security came and practically kicked us out was extremely rude even to the doctor who was trying to explain the situation. I don't think they were too loud and only brought them to say goodbye as they were his only grandkids. So great staff but horrible security.

This has been my primary VA clinic since 2005. During that time they've changed a lot for the better, but still have room for improvement. There are a wide variety of non-emergency services available at this location.

I come here often with my parents for their appointments and everything has always been great. Service is usually on time (but we all know how sometimes wait times are longer than we'd like) the buildings are well kept and they have plenty of snack bar areas, many seating areas, and many building with nice views of the well kept grounds outside. Always quiet here room. Very nice. I also found a special rose garden today dedicated to staff and those in memory. Beautiful.

After 25 years on active duty and now retired, I have found the staff of this facility to be rude, unprofessional and non-responsive. I have struggled to get a simple prescription filled as well as the proper prescription for glasses. Though all the talk of support to Veterans, here I have seen absolutely none. Disappointment is an understatement after spending 4 months on this issue. Even in approaching the patient advocate office, excuses...to include we are short handed. So much for all the fanfare and speeches within congress.

Dr. Fox, Ambulatory Surgeon, did an amazing job! Dr. Fox and her colleagues went above and beyond what they had to ensure the success of the operation. I highly recommend her and her colleagues for any procedure you may need. Thank you Dr. Fox!

I have been receiving my care at this facility for a few years now. The doctors and care provided there rival any hospital or facility in the Bay area. The doctor's and staff are incredible, the facilities are clean and new and you actually look forward to each visit. The rest of the country's VA facilities should strive to emulate Palo Alto.

Compared to where I just came from (LA Healthcare System) these folks are angels. The best treatment and take the time to be nice to you and do the job in a correct manner. In LA it was a fight and so much drama. Alot of them acted like they hated veterans. The Palo Alto Healthcare System is awesome...

Glad most reviewers have positive experience at this location but mine was not.

I am a disabled service connected veteran that was discharged nearly 14 years ago. I've gone to the VA doctors maybe about 3 times in those 14 years since i usually figure they can help veterans that have bigger needs than mine.

I've had an ongoing issue for the past 16 years so I booked an online appointment (Livermore location doesn't actually allow that but I received a phone call and they booked it for me). Appointment was a month and a half out which kind of sucks but hey whatever.

My appointment is scheduled for 1040. I check in at the front desk at 1030 and they tell me to take a seat. It's 1110 and I've seen 4 group of people that came in after me already get up to be helped. I haven't been called so I check in with the front desk again. I take a seat again and then its 1135 I've had enough. I go to front desk and let them know I'm not waiting any longer. I've been there for an hour and no help, no updates, nothing. I came in looking for help and I left feeling defeated. Not only that, I had to take time off of work for this and am still in bad shape.

Since I have health insurance through my company I'm probably one of the luckier ones and can still see another doctor for my issues. I'll set up an appointment with Kaiser soon to see me for injuries that I received during service.

This location deserves a D grade.

This VA is a mixed bag. Some areas are squared away others are really bad. It is super hard to work with them to get appointments for those of us who work and travel a lot overseas. They ll call to set it up but if you miss the call some of the clinics don t answer the phone or if they do it isn t with regularity.

My primary care doctor is nice and super smart but
some of the staff doesn t speak english without thick accents and that leaves room for mistakes which happen often- I was discussing an issue with one of my limbs and a doc was taking notes- I watched him write down left arm when I was describing right arm and pointing right at it. It was almost comical. Another time there was a high school student there going through career day or something and I was asked in front of the child if she could shadow my visit. I felt bad saying no this strange kid can t sit in and take part in my private medical visit. So I let her which is my fault I guess but super awkward.

Anyhow- some is superlative some is really bad.

Best healthcare I have ever gottten. I gave up my BCBS and go to them exclusively. Saved my life a few time. Caring and compassionate. State of the art. Modern 21st century science and resorses.

In my battle with cancer I had to commute to Palo Alto from Livermore on occasion on a shuttle bus. After awhile I sat near a young vet who was apprehensive about the enormous facility. I advise him to walk-in the front entrance and just look about, someone will notice and ask if they can be of assistance! I rode back to Livermore with him and he said it was exactly as I stated. Nice to be able to bank on the Vets organization!

This place from what I've heard through the years used to be a full service hospital that treated our wonderful veterans when they came home from service. Beautifully tucked in the hills of Livermore, ca. They are now a clinic I have been coming here for my father in-law for about 6 years. They have vision, hearing, prosthetics, primary care and more. I have never waited more then 15 minutes after our appointment time. Staff is always pleasant to deal with and always eager to listen and assist with any of our needs. I hear they are now building a new location that this one will be going to in French camp, CA. I just wonder what's to happen to all of the wildlife.
