I'm very grateful to the UTMB health group. They are excellent professionals.
I'm very grateful to the UTMB health group. They are excellent professionals.
The people here are absolutely outstanding! Top notch care and top notch facilities!
I when in for a check up while I was pregnant.
They took me serious, listened to my concerns, did testing, gave me medicine for it.
Overall very nice and safe environment.
Nice staff, they keep you informed about everything. I Loved it.
I am going back for labor which is in 3-4 weeks. I totally have trust in them to deliver my baby after that small check up. Can't wait to see my newborn
I have 30 years as an RN in the ICU... The interview manager told me they were looking for more applicants...
I had to take my daughter to the utmb emergency room in Galveston on Wednesday April 24th. She had a high fever of 103.2 the nurse we had that night forcefully gave my daughter Tylenol. And she puked and puked again but it was blood. Now my daughters gums are bruised. She's only a 10 month old baby . This nurse assaulted my daughter and now there's a investigation going on with the nurse for hurting my child.
I Came here to be seen at a "good hospital," while being in severe pain, I was not able to be seen because I didn't have the money available right now for a deposit. The lady in the registration office was so rude about the whole situation.
I was there from Jan 15, 2018 to Jan 18 2018
In the er because I broke 2 bones in my pelvic. The tech that was in the er told me that she only had two hands when she left me on a bed pan 15 mins.
The older gentlan im the bed next to me had i.v. alarms going off every ten mins. Finally I called got the same tech and she did not appear too concerned.
I was sent to orthopedic unit room 1145. The first night the nurses were very pleasant. The next day the nightmare began. I would call for a bedpan and a pain pill and get acknowledged 15 to 30 mins later.
My experience was great they took me back within 5 minutes! Put my foot in hot water, ordered a X-ray, gave me antibiotics and pain meds for my foot then took me in for my X-ray! I was in and out of there within an hour... The staff was very nice and had great bed side manners.....
Please stay as far away as possible. I had a total left hip replacement here and have had nothing but problems with the surgery and the worst patient, doctor relationship ever. no call backs from dr. just nothing but problems. I would never recommend this hospital for anything and please run from Dr. Ronald Lindsey.
This is arguably the most advanced hospital in SE Texas.
The majority of the personal it is well educated in health and public attention, but always is somebody that never need to be people attention micros de la compasion and They don't want to fix any situation. The Doctors are more free or exelent hay don't know Why are mostly not American born. I am only American citizen and I don't understand why the americans burn don't study for be a doctor.
I went to the Emergency room at UTMB with stomach pains. Which they told me was inflammation that would go away in the small intestine which it didnt so I came back two weeks later after suffering the whole time, to ask for a second opinion which they took extra test and concluded Ive had enteritis. They didnt even tell me this I had to read it on my report. They prescribed me antibiotics and didnt stress tgis was a serious situation. So I went home that night and woke up with severe head pain and severe off and confused periods in which case i though I may have been having an allergic reaction. So I go to the er and aak for help and say something is severely wrong. I need help fast. The lady told me to take a seat and we will be with you but seeing as how i could barely stand i was already on the floor. She tells me i need to get up off HER floor and into a chair. I asked If i could please lay down anywhere just so the dizziness would go away. She says "Sir before you get a bed you need to sign paperwork. So I told her im in severe pain and nausea I cant sign papers right now. She then gets me a wheel chair and puts me in it. Without putting the pedals out. Which resulted in me falling out of the chair. Again I was barely conscious and the nurse was not supporting me at all. She then gets mad and walks back to her desk to sit down. Where I then get up with little to no strength crawl to her and beg for help. She ignores me aswell as everybody in the E R unit with me in pain on the ground crawling. The cops come up and I put my hand out thinking he would help and he says dont touch me. Get away". Its Crazy the treatment I got in what turned out to be severe dehydration from antibiotics and enteritis. So thats the treatment you will get here. Worst hospital EVER.
Go ANYWHERE ELSE!!!
My father was here for 6 weeks in ICU. He was transferred to a long term rehab facility WITHOUT a diagnosis or treatment plan. Every doctor said something different and no one was ever on the same page. Trying to get him transferred anywhere else was like pulling teeth. Worst experience ever. Please don't trust this place with your loved ones. I can't stress this enough. After he finally was admitted somewhere else, we had a diagnosis, surgery, and actual progress within days. Once he got to a rehab, funny how several other patients had the same story of UTMB. Stay away from this hospital
Dr.Griffin ,Dr. Moleski and the whole ICU staff saved my mothers life. They were very compassionate professional and quick to act. Dr. Ortega (neuro) Dr.Torres (ortho), and her now pcp Dr. Mrzak are all wonderful and very attentive doctors. I thank god for these people if it werent for them i wouldng have my mother. Thank you UTMB and your wonderful staff.
Worse experience ever they only have students working there who are basically training on us do not go there
I can tell you by experience that that is one place that scientific research is the world's most advanced facility in regenertive cell function and that would be just the tip of the preverbrieall ice burg !!!!!!!!
If I could give zero stars I would. DO NOT GO TO UTMB if you want to be diagnosed and treated correctly. 2013 my husband was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his kidney. The internist referred him to an oncologist who we find out is an OB-GYN! I think it is a mistake and call and the person on the other line laughed with me about it and put me on hold. 5 mins later she comes back and says "no that was not a mistake, his internist wants him to see the OB-GYN" We cancelled the appt and went to MD Anderson where they know what they are doing. He is 3 yrs cancer free.
Now 3 yrs later my husband has an accident stepping in a hole and 2 days later he cannot walk. We go to UTMB (our 2nd mistake) where they admitted him for 6 days running all kinds of tests but can not figure out why he cannot walk. They send him to physical therapy for 6 weeks for his knee which only had a minor tear. The 5 teams of doctors could not figure out that the huge bulging disc in his T10 had cut off the nerves to his legs leaving him unable to walk. We found a REAL doctor who took 5 mins to diagnose him (with UTMB's MRI) and surgically corrected it and now he can walk normally again. Like I said if you value your health DO NOT TRUST THE IDIOTS AT UTMB!!!!
Not good they do not return phone calls they let people suffer refuse reasonable prescriptions. No follow ups! Monica and other female great but really disgusted with rest they know u are in severe pain do nothing MRI dept liars no follow up as called 3 times screwed my app up. Disgusted. and a good reason NOT to live in Galveston or at least go get medical care in Houston or anywhere else. Training doctors with some Hitler types over them. Do not recommend!
Had my last baby here 2 days ago and i have 2 admit service has gone down so much i had my other children herr also those expriences were good but this time most nurses were rude cleaning is not like it used 2 be supplies for mother and baby seem so limited i had to keep asking for formula while i was there and on discharge wasnt even offered one singke bottle for the trip home never again will i recomend this hospital again
Hands down the most pathetic excuse for a hospital, especially the ER. I'd recommend driving 4 hours to San Antonio over this place. They want your money and that is it. Treating or helping you is a secondary concern to them.
Had my first baby here back in Jun, 2012, the midwife and nurses were close to me the whole time. The food was a little over average (for hospitals).
Postpartum room was too small but kind of ok.
The postpartum attention was very good. I can't complaint.
I'm Going back for my second child in one month. :)
My wife and I had our first baby at UTMB Galveston.
Kitty, our nurse on floor 7, was knowledgeable and helpful, and literally saved our baby's life. He began coughing up amniotic fluid, which is apparently pretty common, and he was literally suffocating. I ran him out to the hallway where Kitty turned him over and began giving him baby CPR (basically slapping him on the back to get him to cough it out). She then explained a TON of stuff to us and made me feel a lot better about my situation and how to handle some baby issues. She taught my wife and I how to handle the baby if he begins choking again.
The rest of the staff was helpful and courteous. Nobody was really rude or anything. Even the lady who came in to help clean our room was sweet and talked with us a bit.
UTMB Galveston is situated in what is probably one of the ugliest cities in the country, but don't let that fool you. 5 stars here.
Horrible hospital! Looks so nasty and unsanitary! You never want to have a baby here!
The surgeon, doctor's, nurse's, transport for testing, food and even the cleaning crew all made my Mom's 6 night stay better than we could have imagined under the circumstances! Thanks to Dr. Cho for going above and beyond his call of duty on the floor and to Dr. Fumka for doing such an amazing job with my Mom during surgery and explaining everything to us on our level.
Oh and the cafeteria food you order as a guest tray is amazing food!
Our view of the Gulf was also beautiful and the room was spacious!
Thank you UTMB!
Normally we are in and out in 30 min. Hopefully we will get same response today.
This was one of the BEST hospital experiences I have had. My son needed to have his tonsils removed - and Dr. Pine was our doctor. He and the ENTIRE staff need to be commended for a fantastic job. It was above and beyond my expectations from everyone. There was a complication in the surgery - not their fault - and we were notified immediately and informed on what was happening as it unfolded. (It all turned out OK.) The aftercare (PACU) team was wonderful at working with my son and his pain - finally being able to get him to eat some Popsicles before we left there. The nursing staff in the PEDI area were very responsive - taking less than a minute to respond when we pushed the call button. They were careful and quiet when doing the nightly checks - and super kind. Even one of the staff waiting in the hall the night before reached out to me - I had gone to my car and gotten lost on the way back when this gentleman, on break, noticed that I was lost, he said "Ma'am, you came from that direction earlier." That put me back on track and I was able to find my way again. I have been to some so called, 'Great,' hospitals across the country in my life, but this experience was the best. Great Job!
This place is horrible!! Every time I try to call for an appointment or cancel one I am on hold for at least 5-10 minutes. When they finally answer they try everything they can to prevent you from making an appointment. For a doctors office you would think that would be counterproductive. The front desk ladies seem to think that they can screen patients on the phone for who needs an appointment or not which I think is the job of a healthcare professional and not administration. Currently I am waiting for a manager. Lead supervisor Judy says that my kids can not be seen because they are on chips and their PCP is booked until the end of the month........ Disappointing. Not a good job UTMB
Super slow. They love to overcharge. Bureaucracy nightmares. Do not recommend.
Nurses and other caregivers get a 5 star rating. Maybe even that high for the technical ability of the physicians, but that remains to be seen. The short story of this review is that if you or a loved one has had recommended to them a Watchman Appendage Closure Device procedure, please request the Patient Information Guide from Boston Scientific and read it in it's entirety before making a decision.
We did not receive this Information Guide until AFTER the procedure was done. When the doctor recommended it for my mom, he told us to 'research it ourselves' and let him know if we wanted to go forward. I researched it, but only found basic info about the actual procedure itself from the manufacturer. I found nothing about the post procedure requirements. I had no idea just how much we didn't know. In retrospect, it seems negligent to not provide this detailed information before the patient agrees to the Watchman.
For example, we were not informed that mom would be put on a different blood thinner than the one she was taking, and that after the procedure she would have to have weekly blood draws to measure her coagulation levels - for six weeks. We were not informed that after six weeks she would have to have a TEE - an echo that views the heart from a camera inside your esophagus - which requires some sedation and additional risks. We were not informed until after the TEE that someone needed to be with her for 8 hours - something that requires a bit more advance planning to provide.
Before we made our decision, we were not informed that if at six weeks the Watchman area has not healed completely, then blood leaks back into the area it is intended to cut off, increasing your risk of stroke even more, so you will be required to continue a course of Warfarin for the next 4.5 months, with weekly blood tests. That's quite a commitment and increased risk for bleeding.
We were not informed that it is standard procedure to have another TEE at 12 months to ensure everything is okay. If at the 45 day TEE things don't indicate it has closed properly, you'll have another TEE in 6 months.
Given the staggering price tag for this procedure in terms of money and time, I am grateful that my mother has excellent insurance coverage and a family member available to care for her at the drop of a hat. The procedure might be appropriate for your family member, but you need to know the whole story in order to make an informed decision. UTMB failed to provide comprehensive information concerning ALL the protocols involved in the procedure, so we didn't get the chance to make an informed decision before going forward.
bad service, we were in a car accident and they took 3 hour for them to do some tests, they didn't even gave us a neck brace knowing that we couldn't move our neck, they said that if the next day we weren't feeling okay to go back to an emergency clinic but NOT UTMB.
Great care! I spent 2 1/2 weeks in the burn unit. I could not have asked for better care, kinda hated to get released. Nurses and staff were right there ready to help me if I needed anything. Loved them, they felt like family! I would highly recommend this hospital. I have been in many hospitals over my lifetime and this is the very best! I would also like to thank
Dr. Herndon for his wonderful job of putting me back together.
3+ hours after they started an echocardiogram, they're still not done. I've never been exposed to this kind of incompetence, at a medical facility. Now, after saying that an electrocardiogram was necessary, weeks ago, they're saying that the insurance (through UTMB) has to authorize the test. They're running a huge scam and putting patients lives in danger. Do. Not. Come. Here.
I gave birth to my son Stacy Alec Dawson there in Aug of '95 it was a beautiful place to bring a baby into the world.
People always talk crap about UTMB but our experience has been great. We had doctors check on our daughter and keep us updated. Just days before we spent several days at Memorial Hermann Southwest and it was the exact opposite, no doctors, no information and just no concern.
no stars sorry Doctors I had (Ortega) went to a third word country and they fixed me
I came in at midnight on Monday the 30th. The staff got me to the back quickly and treated my abscess promptly and got us out by 130am. They were total sweethearts to me and my dad and answered all questions we had. I absolutely love them.
I was down in Crystal Beach & woke up early one morning with severe bleeding after surgery from 2 weeks before.
The ambulance took me here & I had a great experience at a top notch ER. I was well taken care of by the caring staff. My nurse was amazing & so caring. This hospital really surprised me with their service during a pandemic. Patient care & service was excellent.
I went to the doctor there they refused me service cause I didn't have 150 dollars for my visit so I left crying and now they are harassing me telling me I have to pay the bill why they refused service to me why would I have to pay the bill I wish I New who funded the hosptial cause I sure would call and make a complainant this is sorry I'm still sick since the day I went and still not feeling good this place suck last time they seen me there was blood all over the room had to get someone to come in and clean before I would even set dwn in there they should be shut dwn
Easy to get to, nice facilities, friendly and helpful staff.
They have very nice facilities for patients and students alike. However, working for them is very difficult.
Mom was supposed to be transfered there from Scott & White in Temple. Somewhere UTMB lost her. Still can't find mom.
I've NEVER been there since my Momma died there assumingly, @ this hospital this morning on a Monday @ 8:15am 40 years ago today. November 30, 1975, I JUST turned 13,---8 days later, I lost her beautiful, wonderful soul @ the young age of 46 due to a rare "Reticulum Sarcoma Cancer" that will NEVER bring her back to me here on earth, but sooner or later in my life, I will see her, again in Heaven waiting for me to come Home to Heaven to her. God rest your beautiful soul, Momma! Until we meet, again,---I'll see you later, not "goodbye", ok? Cause I've been telling people for a long time, not to say or think of it as "Goodbye", but to say & think of it as "See you later". Cause "Goodbye" means, forever.
I LOVE YOU, MOMMA & I MISS YOU & DADDY VERY, VERY MUCH!!!!!
May God bless & keep you & Daddy's souls in comfort in Heaven where there is NEVER NO pain, crying, sorrows, & NEVER NO sin, whatsoever. He has blessed me & my 2 beautiful sons, & your grandsons, which, you've NEVER got that chance to meet, but Daddy did. I wished our God in Heaven could have @ least, let you, Momma live long enough to see my 2 beautiful sons, your grandsons, but you will 1 day soon. Until that time comes Momma & Daddy, may God bless & keep ya'll's beautiful souls comfort as He has kept me & my 2 beautiful sons.
When in, got checked for my concerns, was told everything I needed. I recommend this place. Get kind people.
very disappointed in UTMB and the fact that I took a day off of work to take my son to a doctor's appointment and was turned away because we were not informed that there was a payment that was due when the multiple times before we had appointments we were always informed there was copay. We were not informed that there was a copay and were turned away from the appointment because we didn't have payment because we were not informed in the first place that there is copay. Now I have to wait a month for my son's next appointment. the fact that I have to wait that long to find out if my son needs surgery is ridiculous. They need to get on the right track to keep their patients. If I could leave negative Stars I would.
My son was admitted around the beginning of July, 2020. We still have not spoken with the doctor. The nurse only reads a summary. I can only imagine how he may be suffering with Corvid-19 and a UC flare. I don't know if him suffering is intentional. We don't know a lot of things, which makes every waking moment so scary. I've learned through the years, when something seems not right , usually something is not right.
My father in law was taken in yesterday and everyone there from the lady at the check in to the ladies in admin, nursing staff were all so considerate and explained things before we asked. We feel comfortable that he is in great hands and given such great care!!! He's doing better and will be released in a couple of days. Thank you so much to all there!!!
For such a great facility, I am disappointed that they charge for handicapped parking close to hospital. In a place where visitors are there to cheer up patients, completely understand charging for those without disabilities. I called to voice my concern, and was left a message by a Mr Ford that free parking was available on seawall. For my family who are handicapped and on fixed income, paying up to $12 per day or more seems excessive to visit a loved one after a major surgery.
This is a top-notch hospital, all the way down the line. Friendly helpful staff, treats the patient as well as the family with respect & care. No waiting for help to arrive, or meds to be delivered. I have never been in a hospital this excellent.
I am a patient at the clinics there, The staff are very nice and helpful, The nurses are very nice and the Doctors are nice. The building is always clean, I've never seen overcrowding there. I don't care for clinics but this one I have to say is the best clinic I've ever been to. I never wait for very long to be seen, which is amazing and unheard of for a clinic. It can be a little confusing getting around inside if you don't know where your going but there's always someone around to help, just ask.
DO NOT HAVE A CSECTION HERE OR DELIVER. I had a csection here 3 years ago. They used the wrong kind of anesthesia and my whole right side wasn t numb and thats where they started. I lost a lot of blood and almost had to get a transfusion. I was in labor for 2 days before FOR NO REASON. Stay away. I have PTSD. I went and had another Csection in Idaho where the doctor was actually smart and knew what he was doing.
Dr. K Welch is incompetent, cares nothig about her patients and should not be allowed to practice medicine anywhere.
UTMB is so large, it can't get out of its own way. Their doctors don't know each other, don't communicate, patient has to do it all. Won't help with anything. It's so expensive you can only afford it if you have top-of-the-line health insurance.
Had emergency triple bypass surgery there last November, which went fine but the evening cardiac recovery nurses were a couple of amateurs, running around like headless chickens. One fell on my chest and laughed about it. They stretched a hose in my neck to the point of breaking. Told my wife to get me out there. Complained but ignored.
Went in for more heart problems this past week. Only saw a beginning intern and only after I said I was going home. Did three echocardiograms, which were inconclusive so went home with no followup since UTMB won't do anything without prior payment. Still have the same problem, but I now have a big bill to go with it.
In January, 2016 I was transported via ambulance from a Medical Center in Bay City, TX to UTMB - Galveston for emergency gall bladder surgery. Upon arrival, I was feeling painless from the excruciating pain I had in Bay City from receiving excellent pain medication. Everyone was very nice and helpful while I waited to be admitted. My room was great! Big screen TV, The nursing staff was amazing and attentive with great advice on getting well.
This is not a bad reflection on UTMB but, while in the Bay City Medical Center, I underwent a sonagram and several medical tests that they said would be sent to UTMB. I was fine with that but when I arrived and they attempted to view the data from the sonagram and other tests results, they were unable to do so because their software was not compatible with UTMB.
My question would be to the Bay City Medical Group was why run tests before checking to see if they would be accessible at the hospital they sent me to for surgery. Bay City was not a hospital capable of doing a gall bladder surgery. So I had to get the tests rerun. Poor communication on someones part and a waste of money for duplicate tests. I trusted the people at Bay City Medical Center to do the right thing.
Anyway, the tests were rerun and the Doctors agreed I needed surgery to remove the gall bladder that contained at least two marble sized stones via laproscopically. I never knew after several years it was my gallbladder after being diagnosed with Acid Reflux. Everything went well and I was returned to my room after recovery and able to order food.
What a surprise! The food menu was awesome and the food tasted delicious.
My experience at UTMB-Galveston was awesome. This facility was the best experience I ever had in being in a hospital. Thank you UTMB-Galveston!
If you are having a baby, don't bring anyone else with you. They don't accommodate for you. There is no place for you to sleep and apparently they don't believe in a/c.
I love working here it's awesome it's the best job ever haters hate thank you for spending some instead of equality day thinking about me and worrying about me love you all
I had retina reattached at utmb, while it recovered for 6 months with silicon oil in the eye for 4 months. I had an issue with the left eye now, said calcium build up in a vein was causing that issue, did ultrasound of neck, idiot didn't realize the signs of possible stroke. Proceeded to have surgery to remove silicon oil from right eye, 4 hours after suffered multiple strokes. The utmb eye doctor claims the loss of vision in the right eye was caused by the stroke, odd because stroke was on the right side of the brain which controls the left side of the bodily organs. Since then a doctor has seen me at Methodist and has gone on record as stating the utmb doctor left a bubble in the retina which has now expanded and recovering the vision in right eye is impossible. So now I have NO vision in the right eye and only have the upper right quarter of my left eye to see with. This lame doctor at utmb will continue to practice medicine because in the state of Texas, they have passed legislation protecting government entities. As for me, I have lost my career, can't drive any more, depth perception is nill, and I get social security disability (half of what my income was). And in the meantime, utmb proceeds on as if just another day, the doctor still makes his big salary. I have no complaint with the nurses or other staff at utmb, but not sure their doctors are fully qualified. I would not take my dog for treatment by utmb, much less another human being. One of these days, John Q. Public will get their day vs big government entities.
UTMB is only out for your money, not your well being.
Staff is nice. But 3 hrs. In ER and still nothing being done to help me......
I had Dr Pilla during my pregnancy. She is the most personable, kindest, most knowledgeable physician around. I trusted her 100%. She took her time with me at each appointment and explained all my concerns. When it came down to the birth she followed my birth plan to the T and also fixed a horrendous scar from my last birth. Now my stomach looks great for the first time in 10 whole years!! I could not be any happier. I now tell all of my pregnant friends and friends of friends to please see her.
Great! Outstanding service, totally loved the way that care about the patients!
Am shocked at the bad reviews; I had my baby at utmb and spent 4 days in the hospital afterwards, it was an amazing experience!! Their customer service delivery is exceptional...the best hospital experience I have ever had! Giving them a 5 and most definitely recommend.
Muy agradesida , conlos doctores y enfermeras, son muy atentas.
Atendieron ami bb muybien, asta su recuperasion. Gracias utmb.
Management should try harder to keep longevity employees. Department's have invested hundreds of thousands of real dollars in training, and time with them. Most wear multiple hats, are efficient multitaskiers that are difficult to replace. Time is money when a new employee struggels through a task for lack of training, and permissions for entering data. You can't replace experience and history.
Wonderful staff and great nursing care for a surprised admit of a family member. The physicians were excellent and very caring. So glad we came here. Thank You Everyone for making all things so much better!!! EXCELLENT CARE, EXCELLENT STAFF!!!
Horrible for my daughters delivery and they definitely will not see me for my delivery in two months sorry. Point blank period and way to many students.
What is the point of having a appointment if you won't be seen at said appointment time. They are the slowest hospital in the world sometimes i think it is worse than the VA hospital. Mainly from the ultrasound side but the whole hospital is slow. And the restroom dont flush
I ve heard stories but I have nothing bad to review shoot my experience here
My son was admitted as an emergency patient on Monday, August 17. His urine was almost pure blood. He was placed immediately in an exam room, followed by a CAT scan and a scope procedure. Found aggressive bladder cancer that was tediously removed, bladder cavity scraped and cauterized in a 5 1/2 hr. period. (In the midst of all this I was given warm blankets, plenty of coffee and a parking garage token in exchange for my parking garage ticket). After recovery he was moved into a large private room on the 7th floor where he received the most professional, compassionate care imaginable. After more great care-giving procedures and CAT scans and many team visits we were given a date for bladder removal surgery and discharged on Friday, August 21. Our expectations were exceeded from the moment we stepped into the hospital, especially by Dr. Susan Tarry and Chris Kosarek, Dr. William Daya and PA Melanie Potter. In fact, there was not one caregiver or employee the entire time we were there that acted unconcerned or unprofessional. All were warm, positive, very personable and good humored.

The most BS hospital in the planet. Only reason I give 1 star is because I can t give 0 stars. They literally won t let us see our parents that are in ER after an accident bc there s no BS social worker to walk us back there. I highly recommend never coming here. Ever.
My sister delivered her baby at this hospital and it was an absolute nightmare for everyone. Not only were the nurses rude and saying that she wasn't even trying to push, they made her push for almost 3 hours and her heart rate was through the roof. Afterward the "doctor" yanked on my sisters umbilical cord and ended up having her uterus prolapse because of this ignorant woman. Afterward we were bombarded with nurses who claimed that it wasn't the doctors fault... so traumatic for my sister! After her surgery for the prolapse she had to lay with her wound open for days, it was horrible to watch. I swore after this altercation I will NEVER recommend this hospital.
I have had my 3 babies there and the care has been great thank God and my two babies have been in internal pediatrics and have been excellent in the care !!
Do Not Go here! They say they are the best, but every time I go they forget to call in my prescription.
i have been going to UTMB for nearly 20 years. Yes, there have been a couple of times that the care I received was not up to my expectations; but overall, the services I have received have been fantastic. The system has gathered an elite group of doctors and staff at tthe Galveston branch and they are the reason I am willing to travel over2 hours for my medical care.
If you want a professional opinion from a doctor dont come here. The doctor had zero interest in even trying to help me.
If you have a serious medical issue, do NOT step foot in this so called "hospital." You will spend HOURS talking to and waiting on students and residents; answering their questions multiple times while they take notes and try to diagnose what your problem is. Nurses can be slow, but are generally nice and attentive to your needs (which is the reason I'm giving 2 stars and not 1). We visited the ER 4 times in the span of 3 weeks, went through multiple CAT scans, were prescribed a bunch of different medicines, and dealt with more than a dozen different nurses and assistants. After they realized that what they kept trying wasn't working, they told us they can't help any longer and not to come back. This was an order from Dr. Mileski. SAD!
Was informed by obgyn doctor that we should either abort our child or accept a blood transfusion...both unacceptable! Was discharged after we took our stand. Do not come to a hospital that has no regard for human life.
I had to go to UTMB in 2012 for a Heart Attack scare. I did not have a heart attack. HOWEVER, the Cardiology Department gave me a complete exam. They were attentive and highly professional. I had always heard negative things about UTMB, when I moved here from Houston in 2007. Don't BELIEVE the negative comments. Judge them from your own unique experience.
My daughter was diagnosed with Lupus this year. ONCE AGAIN, the UTMB staff (Kidney and Nephrology Doctors), were EXCELLENT and ATTENTIVE!! My daughter needed a biopsy. The professionalism and skills that they showed her were awesome. The Team would come and speak with her every morning and explain what was going on with her. She was hospitalized for one week , and didn't want to come home. I feel completely safe and satisfied with our experiences with UTMB, thus far!
I would have given it 5 stars, however, when my daughter arrived for her hospital stay, the room was not cleaned good. (blood on sheets, dirty floor, dirty bathroom). The Maintenance supervisor was HIGHLY UPSET at the person that did not clean the room adequately!
$85 for just obtaining the medical records to the care that I already paid for. This is a joke.
My son was there Monday night 3/13/17
Was there for 5 hours and still was not seen by Dr. This hospital is totally un organized
