This is an unbelievable place and it opens your eyes to the atrocities that happened. I learned a lot during my time there.
This is an unbelievable place and it opens your eyes to the atrocities that happened. I learned a lot during my time there.
Make sure you visit the exhibition on the lowest floor
This museum does an excellent job documenting the Holocaust. It allows you to take a passport for someone who went through the Holocaust and gives you chances to explore their story as you engage with the exhibits. You unfold their story as you go not knowing their survival until the end. I remember being very anxious getting on the elevators with my friend at the start of the tour, not knowing what to expect. It is a emotional day but the museum does a wonderful job teaching without overplaying on your emotions. It is impossible to not be effected, but you are allowed to learn without being overwhelmed.
This was an emotional experience. The wall size pictures had me imagining the horrors people must have went through. This is an important place to visit to understand why sometimes war is necessary.
Super educational. To get tickets you MUST get in line early. We got there at 8 am and 50 people were already in line.
Pretty heavy. You could spend all day here with the amount of information.
Free and informative, do know it's expected that you are quiet so small children might be best to keep home if they would disrupt.
This museum is truely historic and sad at the same time. When you enter the Holocaust museum you are given a picture and name of a victim of the German Government. At the end of the tour you ll find out what happened to the person you have been holding.
A must see even though it was sad. Very educational and humbling experience.
A moving place to walk around and experience just a taste of what life like during this tragic period in history.
Very interesting I could easily spend a whole day reading and taking in all the info. You have to go really early to get a ticket to go through the main attraction or reserve online.
Must go when in Washington. We need to preserve the history in order to not let it to happen again.
I remember going there back in 2011. One of the best museums I have ever been to -- the history is unfortunate, but I love learning about history a bit too much. This was the best well constructed and set up museum I have ever been to. #Remember
Very educational I went here on a trip with my school. I had an amazing experience learning about all the history behind the Holocaust. It was also interesting to see all the story s that were told.
Thought-provoking and heart-wrenching. Will require more than one visit to appreciate all the exhibits. I could only complete two levels before I needed to leave. I was simply overwhelmed- not only for what humans did to others, but also the potential of what the future lost. My favorite museum thus far. I believe it is truly a must-see for all.
Was not aware of the tour tickets. But the other exhibits here were great. Worth the visit, make sure to ride the elevator once.
Loved it here it was so interesting and educational it was a cozy and respectful
Never again Nazis, Germans and the Axis slaughtered 6+ million.
Great content. Excellent experience. I visited withy son and his school, and all of the 8th graders also regarded the material with interest. This is a must visit site in your D.C. trip.
This museum really opens your eyes to what they experienced. Plus, it was free of charge (this was about 6 years ago). Totally worth seeing while you're in the D.C. area.
Always a "moving" experience and in this day and age, a good reminder of what can happen if we forget/remove history.
Well curated museum and memorial. Haunting.
Main tip: be sure to spend at least 2 hours here as you start from the 4th floor and make your way down along a guided path.
A call for reflection about one of the saddest episodes in history.
Amazing museum! Daniels story was really enlightening and emotional!
Superb museum. A very moving experience. Highly recommended.
The current temporary exhibit was great! They have a surprisingly low qty of tickets availablefor the permanent exhibit and I want able to go.
An amazing showcase of hitlers impact on the world. The museum has 3 floors and takes about 1.5 hours to view. A lot of detailed articles, photos and objects displayed depicting Hitlers rule and concentration camp.
Unbelievable what you will see and learn there. Very sad how things were before. Will make you feel grateful of all you have today. Some kids may be impressed by the images.
I have never visited a more we'll thought out museum. Excellent. So moving. This should be required attendance for everyone working in government in Washington.
It was deeply moving and thought-provoking. I learned many things that conflict with America's reputation as the great liberators, and it causes me to reflect on some parallels occurring in our current political world.
Disturbing. Intense.
Never again.
A place I feel everyone should go, it really puts things into perspective, and shows how far we've come.
Nice museum. Sad facts but very educational. No cost to go in.
Remarkably and profoundly moving exhibition. I had made a promise to visit
In rembrance of friends so it was a pilgrimage for me. A testamony to the human spirit that anyone survived. A true example of what happens when bigotry and absence of concience overtake public policy.
Great exhibits about this very important and tragic period
This is a do not miss for anyone in DC. The most moving experience of my life. Very creatively done. Extremely detailed account of a horrific moment in our world.
Somber experience but done very well to tell the history and stories of the people of the Holocaust.
Seeing the history of what happened in front of you and laid out in chronological order. It was an experience. Given the political climate lately it makes you realize the Nazi comparisons on both sides of the party lines take away from what really happened. They did an amazing job setting this up.
Great museum . Buy the $20 Family pass and see the entire thing it s good for a year anyway .
They did a great job explaining the whole process from start to finish
So sad. It's hard to imagine people can be sho cruel
Interesting experience !!! Historical compilation of the Holocaust.
Informative, horrifying, but such an important museum especially for our times. I teared up several times because it was such a powerful display of historic events.
Phenomenal experience.... Had goosebumps. Must visit if ur in DC
Was very informative. Learned something new every corner.
Beautiful museum, free and easy to access. The exhibits were very beautiful and well presented despite the heaviness of the subject.
Amazing, everyone should go don't miss it sad but something you will never forget
Very memorable really hit home with me and what happened. Would go back here.
A must if you are visiting!! A GREAT memorial for all those lost and who went though this aweful time in history!! Only negatives is that there is not enough time to see and esp read it all! We were very moved by this amazing place!! It reminds us of what not to repeat In history! The words are haunting. Can be seen by all ages! And should be!
The stories will haunt you. The rhetoric will make you think it wasn't so long ago.
So sad...but important to visit so we'll never forget.
Excellent eye opening museum, with very touching and disturbing exhibits
Chronologically very well organized. Lots of information. Many personal stories. It leaves you emotionally drained. The only critique I have is about the identity cards given to each visitor at the entrance. Here active resistance fighters, who were prosecuted for what they did, are thrown in the same bag as totally clueless and innocent victims, who were persecuted not for what they had done, but just for who they were.
Huge museum, with extensive exhibitions and explanations. Therefore, visitors to this museum will forgive me for the taste of the Yad Vashem Museum in Jerusalem. One should not conclude that a visit to the place should be given up.
Make sure you put aside a whole day to look around here
Make sure to get tickets. The other stuff is just not as good
A place that everyone should visit to remember the people who we lost
So much information and history, plan on staying awhile
They wouldn't let me in with my diabetes meds. Maybe it's great, maybe it's not. I'll never know. Having lockers for back packs, meds, bags, ... Would solve this problem.
Here is the only Japanese photo. Sugihara Chiaki is proud of the achievements of the same Japanese.
A bit too crowded at the beginning, but very valuable experience. Good presentation methods. We learned a lot and gained appreciation. So many lost so much.
An amazing tour through one of the darkest phases in the history of man. Educational and informative. Every school should be education their children on the darkness and atrocities of the Holocaust. Lest we never forget.
Such a moving experience - a must visit for every age. We must always remember.
