The methadone clinic is at this location around the back of the building, even though I hate social services that clinic saved my life I wish I could give them a 10.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE... THESE PEOPLE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. THIS IS A PRIME EXAMPLE OF WHY THE GOVERNMENT IS SO MESSED UP..... Dss of smithtown is awful. People go there for help and the women staffers treat people like dirt. I went for housing and they said I'm on my own. No help. I guess you have to be a minority and an illegal immigrant in order to get assistance.... So glad I pay my taxes. Thanks for the help U.S. Government. You turned your back on your people!
I just went this morning and I arrived later than I wanted to be there so there was a line. It wasn t very long everyone I dealt with including the security guards who were very friendly and helpful. The staff was extremely friendly and assisted me with all my needs. The woman that assisted me was very knowledgeable, compassionate, and helpful. Thank you SSDSS for your help. Stay lit
Good pleasant people at the windows trying to assist others in need
The website says that they close at 4:30. They really close at 3. Very deceptive!
When you are down on your luck, Suffolk County Department of Social Services will help you get on your feet.
Untrained and dangerous organization ,they donot help the family ,they destroy it
They have no training in Parental alienation .They abused my farther and allowed my mother to destroy the entire family with false allegations
After being harassed by a case worker and security guards that like to think they're so macho and how the way they cursed at me, I wouldn't want to go back there if I was payed to go there! I can't wait to report the security guards that literally kept trying to harass me so I could just leave like that.
I was approved for SNAP over a month ago and still no card. I went to the location in Coram to get a temporary card and two unprofessional security guards refuse to let me in the building and telling me to come back within 14 days despite not having corona. I called the case workers and I been hanged up on twice and another one told me their was nothing they can do. I called the location in Hauppauge and the lady apologized on their behalf and said she ll send out a temporary card. I still have yet to receive that temporary card and I went to the location in Hauppauge. After 2 hours of waiting, a lady said I have to go to the location in coram to get a temporary card. 10 minutes after I left, the lady called me back saying she made a mistake and I can come back for the card. I returned and had to wait another 2 hours. After getting the card, the guy said to call customer service for a pin. When I would call customer service, I would be on hold for over 30 minutes and it would hang up when trying to set up a pin. I called the location curious to know why I can t set up a pin and they said it was a error on the card and they apologize and if I can come back in on Monday. -____- clearly someone is running a scam.
I have been trying to get in contact with Medicaid for over three days now. All they do is let the phone ring out or pick it up and hang up. Hmmph .
The caseworkers here are absolutely awful, especially in the CPS department where they will almost ALWAYS blame the child as well as be ageist and adultist.
Not to mention the constant lying and deception and complete lack of care these people do and have.......
Should definitely go somewhere else if you want to file a CPS issue.
Empty building where no seat use to be empty . Form filled on entrance to give covid19 info. No line .very clean ,quiet, job was done in 2 minutes.
Horrible workers that are snippy and refuse to give you their name when requested. They want a ton of info from you, leave you on hold forever, and are nasty. If that female worker gave me her name, she would have been reported. Basic intelligence employed here.
Seriously things can always be worse. I try to remain Grateful they're is help out there.
This place is horrible. Do not seek their help if you have a CPS case. They will put you in horrible shelters because of it and keep sending you back to those shelters. In their eyes it's not their life so it doesn't matter where we go. Don't seek help from them at all. Don't even tell them you have anything wrong with you mental or physical because they will try to break you so they don't have to do their job. In my eyes, if you hate your job go pursue another career or get another job. Don't stay at one that you hate and make people's lives miserable just because you are.
Ms Cobb on 2 occasions was extremely nasty and spoke t ok me like I was below her and gave out food from the food pantry that was expired. She should be fired just for the ways she handled me and my case. Karma Ms Cobb.
I went there to apply for Medicaid. I had a very good experience lady at the desk was very helpful honestly felt welcomed
Many of us rather be elsewhere. It's not a place to love beyond genuine appreciating the services rendering to those suffering economic hardships. Under the circumstances, there's considerable waiting with standing in lines and then seating. Possibly, you may not have to spend a long while here.
One man brought an empty construction bucket to sit on while waiting in line. Lot's of folks talking and chattering but far less often crazy noises and deputes. It is a orderly, clean atmosphere with attentive security. The staff are responsive.
It is a plus that patrons smoke farther away from the enterance than at other facilities. It is frequently here the appeal cases are conducted.
Oh, God.
They know they've got you in a bad spot so you play it by their rules and lazy time.
TERRRIBLE , TO MUCH PEOPLE AND USUALLY YOU HAVE TO WAIT A LONG LINE FOR RECIEVE HELP. SOME EMPLOYEES ARE ARROGANT BUT NOT EVERYONE .
I've been there twice and they were very helpful and everyone was very nice. The wait is very long but they are seeing A LOT of people!
I called to get help submitting documents. The woman who answered was immediately annoyed and short with me and claimed to hear only every other word despite my ability to hear her fine and her ability to respond to me fine. She was 2 seconds away from hanging up on me every time I stopped talking. She didn't give me her name and even gave me incomplete/wrong information. I believe these people are WORKING AGAINST YOU. And in the end she did hang up on me before I could ask any questions. Hopefully you don't have to deal with them.
The caseworker is a liar they mess up and immediately point the blame on the client. When they know they had the information for months. Also when you call you can NEVER speak to your caseworker only leave messages and never receive a phone call back. They say they are here to help but beware they make you pay back food stamps. I went for help when I was out because of surgery biggest mistake of my life, I should have starved......
I was only there once, for my mom Medicaid, place is in need of a update, but generally the staff seemed fine with me. I know they are just state workers, but considering who they have to deal with sometimes, cant blame some the attitudes.
Its amazing that all the positive reviews are from Spanish or imagrants from another country. DSS helps them but we cant get any assistance.
Suffolk County DSS should be accountable criminally on how they process and ignore how nursing agencies ignore the elderly in their east end districts.
