So i lost over 12k in medication due to power loss from Hurricane Irma. UPC made me get something in writing stating my power loss was wind related. I was able to get a letter from Duke stating this. Now they want their adjuster to come out to take picture of the broken pole in my backyard. ( i have already sent them pictures but was told not good enough as they want their adjuster to do it ). Im getting very upset that they are trying to find a way out of paying. I had to involve the insurance commission for my claim for Matthew. Im getting very tired of fighting with this company.

We filed a claim with UPC after we found we had water damage throughout our kitchen and into one of our children's bedrooms. The adjuster came out and they sent out a water drying company. A week later, after they found mold through the entire damaged area with 4 young children one being a newborn they denied our claim after telling us to keep our cabinets shut where mold was behind and move our children our of their bedroom as it wasn't safe. This is a shady insurance company don't use and if you have policy cancel. We now have to figure out how to move as our house is not livable with mold and 4 children and we don't have 50,000 dollars to fix the damages . You should be ashamed UPC!!!
We are extremely happy with UPC Insurance. We had water damage to our home. Soon after notifying UPC of our crisis, the adjuster Troy came to our rescue. He was nothing short of fantastic. We highly recommend UPC. Very professional and timely during our time of need. THANK YOU UPC!!!
Do not bother getting any insurance of any type from this company. If you have insurance with UPC, do yourself a favor and quit immediately. I have wasted so much time with UPC and all it has caused is headaches. Do not believe anything they tell you. They are extremely dishonest. When they tell you that their online photo inspection service of your house takes 15 minutes, do not believe them. I would say a better average is 45 minutes to an hour. Even after spending 1.5 hours to complete mine, they wrote me a cancellation letter without any opportunity to correct anything. Nothing. What a way to do business. There is a true blessing though.....State Farm Insurance that covers my autos covered my house immediately! I will be writing the President of UPC, finding any and every opportunity to post negative reviews of UPC and contacting my bank (a major bank) and letting them know not to ever recommend UPC to anyone again.
Poor customer service from the UPC claim adjusters who are condescending at times and have very poor customer service. I experienced two separate negative experiences with claim adjusters. I will be finding another company for coverage due to being treated poorly.
Steal your money, they were paid 3 different times by my mortgage company and refunded me for one! So hard to contact. EDIT: STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY MONEY, YOULL SEND THEM THE NECESSARY DOCS AND THEYLL CLAIM A WEEK LATER RHEY HAVENT RECEIVED THEM.
Stay away from this unethical company. I received a notice of nonrenewal on a policy that was and had always been paid as agreed. They claimed it was due to, "ineligible plumbing" but I was dropped without an explanation or the opportunity to fix the issue. The notice followed an unrelated claim for hail damage to the roof. The non-renewal was retaliation for the claim. Why else refuse a policy from a paying customer.
The worst experience. The claim process is flawed. Lack of coordination. They empty promises and does not fulfill their obligation. Response is terrible. I had to write to the CEO and Chairman of the Board to get response from UPC. The claims officer is not to be trusted. He will promise you one thing and later say that he didn t. I have email of proof. I had to find my own water mitigation company. UPC encourages fraud. Do not use contractors that are cheaper. Find a contractor that matches what UPC reimburse you. Otherwise they will not return the Recoverable Depreciation. Stay away from UPC!!!
I've been out of my home for a month already and yet nothing has been done by them 3 times has an adjuster came to my house and giving me the b.s. that they want to get my claim in as fast as possible but yet they never send the info in I'm living in a hotel with 3 kids that have gotten to the point that the cry because they feel we are homeless I have called and emailed them and no answer back I'm will be reporting them and I have to get a lawyer involved I must they have left me and my family out to dry and they have no sympathy for their clients
Horrible. Was insured 12/2019. They asked for videos with 7 days of me moving into my home. I get a letter saying I will be dropped 3/2020. I have received multiple letters about my policy coverages and even a letter saying I will get a refund for over paying. Get it together. Unprofessional and a complete scam.
I recently found myself in a situation where I had no idea how to handle the damages to my home and property! Thank God I have UPC Insurance and my Insurance adjuster was there to help, every step of the way! Unfortunately, I was quite ill with pneumonia and Charles went above and beyond what I would expect from an insurance adjuster. He made sure the contractors used new materials, when they tried to use the damaged parts! He was on the property and took charge of getting the project finished. Since I have had a terrible experience in the past with a different insurance company, I think UPC and its employees renewed my faith in the insurance industry. They are the best! If I could rate them 10 stars, I would!
I've been trying to contact UPC for over a month now regarding my claim for damage caused by hurricane Harvey. I keep being sent to a third party that leaves the agents at UPC a message to contact me, but they never do. I need to start repairs but it's impossible to get a hold of these people.
From the very beginning I have had to fight every step of the way with UPC. They do not respond in a timely manner. This whole ordeal could have been solved in a few weeks and not months if only they would communicate. I would never recommend this company for home insurance.
The worst experience with a insurance company I have ever had. they tried every avenue they had to low ball and be difficult. It made me physically ill trying to work with them
Horrible at communication, not responsive at all. We have a claim open due to Irma, and in the 5 months the claim has been open, we've received a total of 4 phone calls. When I have questions, they go unanswered for weeks. I have money owed to me in recoverable depreciation that I submitted paperwork for nearly a month ago, and I have followed up weekly and have not had a response from my claims representative OR their SUPERVISOR. The last I've heard from my adjuster was in mid december, despite 7 emails and multiple voicemails from me asking to discuss some issues with the claim. I've had promises for phone calls that have never happened. This has been a very poor experience - and I've been paying them for insurance for almost 8 years now without any other claims.
Thus far, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I made my Claim the Day Hurricane Irma happened in September. To date, all I get is BS and run arounds. They tried to deny any damage. My Subcontractor found about 30K worth.....I pay for insurance in the event I have Damage, they are supposed to pay for that damage. I am currently in process to hire a Private adjuster and sue for my Claim to be paid..... WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.....Never again.......
Very Very slow to process claim. The adjuster explained repeatedly over several months that they have many claims and it typically takes a while to get to yours. Also read the fine print in the UPC contract before signing. They don't cover a lot of things you may think an insurance company should cover. I found out the hard way that there are small clauses buried in the contract that allow them to deny a claim for reasons that you may think should be covered. I am now shopping for better insurance company and coverage. I also found out that I have 2% deductible that is based on the coverage amount. I over stated the replacement value of my home to make sure I have full coverage in the event of a major claim and of course payed more for the premiums for this extra coverage. The extra coverage worked against me for roof repair due to hurricane damage with a 2% deductible based on the insured replacement value. The deductible was $12k.
After five years with UPC Insurance we received a non-renewal letter in the mail on 1 /2020 Reason: "catastrophic loss". We never experienced a catastrophic loss and at no point did they ever contact us.
This was my first claim on a property and UPC made it simple. My claim adjuster Lee walked me through the process, answered all my questions thoroughly and made the process less stressful.
What a great team to handle my homeowners insurance. I had to make a claim for some damages that our home had incurred. They handled it efficiently and with courtesy.
Very thorough and reasonable insurance firm with great pricing and customer service. Their response during a wind damage claim was a dream, and helped mitigate damage inside the home.
My home was unexpectedly damaged in a flood. Obviously it brings a lot of stress and uncertainty. UPC was so quick to respond. The claims adjuster was at my house the very next day (damage happened on a holiday - of course!). I was walked through the process and it was resolved quickly, allowing me to make the necessary repairs. Highly recommend them.
I received a letter in the mail today that UPC is dropping us because our roof is in disrepair. We bought the home 2 1/2 years ago, and the roof is under 4 years old. Half the home is pitched and the other is flat. When I called them I talked to an extremely rude fella named Dan. Dan let me know that the roof is in bad shape and in fact they are dropping us. Sidenote...We own a roofing company!!! I assured them that the roof is in great shape and I welcomed them to come inspect, He let me know that an inspection was done using google maps and Zillow. Yeppers, GOOGLE and ZILLOW for a roof inspection!!! My life would change dramatically if this were remotely possible. He then changed his stance and it's all because we have a living area under a flat roof area. Let me remind everyone that we have had them insuring our home for almost three years, this is not new information. And your idea of a roof inspection is using google is beyond laughable in the industry. If you would like to drop us that is fine, but at least do it on professional terms. We will be sharing this experience with all of our customers in the form of a blog on our website and social media pages-it's too ironic not to.
We have been in a claim process for our roof damaged by IRMA. The process has been horrendous. We get limited communication from UPC. We have an attorney representing us. We had to sue UPC for our roof replacement. My neighbors have all settled there claims with various insurance companies. The homes I m talking are all in a row on our street. We are still fighting with this horrible company for close to two years. I would never recommend UPC to anyone. You pay premiums on time never have a claim and now treating us like we are a horrible risk. By the way they have increased our renewal premium by $1,000 over last year.
Penny ,who handled my claim, was so efficient and kept in contact with me throughout the process. The contractors they used were excellent as well from the adjustor to the restoration company. I appreciate the attention to detail and support they gave me. I would definitely recommend UPC!
UPC Insurance is a great company. Their premiums are really good and they have some of the best customer service representatives. I would recommend this company to anyone.
After waiting for more than a month UPC denied the claim saying it is not covered. I knew the leak was not accidental and I had told them so. After 6 weeks they denied the claim saying "the leak was not accidental" . This is my first time calling a home insurance company and I am disappointed not because the claim is denied but because it took 6 weeks for them to tell me what I told them on the first day.
Excellent customer service! Member communicated very well throughout the process and kept us well informed.. All of our needs were met, customer satisfaction guarantee!!
James was very friendly, professional, and answered and questions or concerns I may have had during this process. The remediation team and inspectors were also very friendly and professional as well. They made sure to communicate with any new information and came out quickly to get the process started. Thanks UPC
I have been insured with them for less than a month and received a letter from them stating that they are cancelling my insurance due to building materials in front of the house and that those materials are a danger to thieves that may be on my property to steal things and they were afraid that a thief would get hurt while stealing things from my property.... you can t make this stuff up. So glad they did me this favor sooner rather than later, the last thing I want to do is support a company with this mindset. What a time to be alive.
Totally unprofessional customer service... Some employees do a good job, while others are destroying the reputation of this company, and frankly should be fired for doing that!
I recently had a leak in my laundry room and needed to file a claim. I filed on a Monday afternoon by Tuesday Lee was out to assess the damage. He asked that I give him about a week to complete his end of it however within 72 hours we were all done with the paperwork from his side. Overall a very easy experience in a not so easy to deal with situation. Thanks guys!
We purchased our home three years ago. We went with UPC based on our agent s recommendation. I that three years our rate has gone up over 40%. No claims filed, no additional risk, basically no reason at all. Gradual increases can be expected with homeowner s insurance, but I feel this is a bit over the top. Never the less, we stuck it out. Then last month we had to file a claim for water damage and mold. Within three hours of filing the claim over the phone, my wife and I started receiving calls from the adjuster. It was an interrogation. We were treated like we were trying to steal money from them. He started by calling my wife, trying to nail down dates and times, telling her that her timeline didn t add up, basically trying to trip her up any way he could. This is all while she s driving home on the interstate at rush hour. Then I got the call. Same story, same smarmy attitude, trying to look for conflicting timelines.
Then came the full denial of coverage. I would caution you to read carefully through the exclusions in your policy. Pay close attention to the mold and water damage section. Basically, if it is t a result of a one time catastrophic event, you aren t covered.
I could ve lived with the outcome and denial, but the way the whole claim was handled was a completely miserable experience. My wife and I do well financially and quite frankly, can afford to pay for the repairs out of pocket, but being treated the way we were has completely turned us off to UPC and we will be taking our business elsewhere.
Their primary concern is NOT protecting your property. Their focus will immediately be getting out of paying your claim. If you re considering using UPC, I strongly advise you to read the negative reviews from people who have filed claims with them. I wish I had.
Ryan was very professional, he explained the whole process and it was done in a timely manner. I would highly recommend him and UPC Insurance to anyone in need of this service.
My first time claim EVER, and with UPC Insurance, the process went smooth and stress free. Great Company, easy to work with, extremely informative and professional, and wonderful people as well! Thank you for being there for me!
Totally Incompetent. I sold my house and canceled the insurance on 8-12-20. I was told it would take 7 to 10 business days for a refund. Today is business day 19 and found out they mailed the check today - but sent it to the wrong address. Due to their error, I was told I would have to wait another 21 days before they will issue a new check. I'm pretty sure they would not take that much time to drop me if i didn't pay on time.
Been with this company since 5/2019. They sent me an email requesting pictures which took me an hour to do. Thought everything was fine because I never heard another word from them until 01/2020 when we received a non renewal letter for failing to comply? Great communication UPC. What exactly didn t we comply to? If you re in search of a home owner insurance company, I would skip UPC.
After recent hail storms my roof started leaking. Had several roofing companies look at it and they said the roof can't be fixed. UPC said that only 12 shingles need fixed. Every time it rains water drips from the walls and ceiling. Yet according to them it is only 12 tiles and they won't fix.
Very unpleased with this insurance company. Clearly my roof needs replaced. I had a few close friends and a roofing company confirming it needs replaced. UPC Insurance just wanted to save money than caring about me and my family with having a good roof over our heads. I am very upset and will be looking for insurance elsewhere.
My agent helped me throughout my claim in a timely manner. He was always easy to get ahold of and answered any questions I had. Filing an insurance claim is never going to be the most fun or easy thing to do but they made it as easy as possible
Yes my claim started a little rocky because extra field claim adjusters and desk adjuster were brought in to help but once my claim got going I was satisfied....my real problem was with my roofing contractor.
I purchased this policy effective 5/28/19. I was asked to send several photos of areas in and outside of my home, which I supplied back in the early part of June. I received a request in August, 2 months later, to take a photo of my plumbing, including the year. I had no idea what they were referring to, so I sent an e-mail on 8/11/19 asking, and received no reply. Since I did not receive a reply form UPC, I called my agent. She contacted UPC and was told if my plumbing was prior to 2010, they could no longer insure me, however they would insure me through the first year of my policy. They knew the year of this house when I purchased the insurance policy. If it was an issue they should have done their due diligence and asked about it at that time. I have now received a letter that my policy will be canceled on 9/9/19 based on the year of my plumbing, which is 2005. I called my agent, who again called UPC and was told she was given misinformation and that they would not be insuring me for the first year, and in fact, my policy would be cancelled effective 9/9/19. Every person I have spoke to has never heard of an insurance company cancelling AFTER they have approved you, taken your money and been insured for 3 months, to cancel based on the year of the plumbing. So if your home, along with the original plumbing, is older than 2010, they do not insure you? I have never heard of such a thing! Our previous home was built in 1974 with original plumbing. Wasn't an issue with our previous homeowner's insurance company.
I made my first claim in over 18 years. The adjuster from UPC who contacted me, Charles Maggio license # W413652, attempted to bully me into canceling my claim. I spoke with his office manager, Tina Kennedy, who was of little assistance. After complaining to Tina, an independent inspector/ contractor came to my home and address the issues. Less than three days later I receive a call from UPC employee ,Jesse Hope license # W623733, denying my claim. I called back UPC to speak with Tina Kennedy and I still haven t received a call back and its been two weeks. My roof is still leaking; they will not assist me, just leaving me and my family to deal with the blue tarp on my roof that collects water and drains into my home. They left me no choice, I have contacted the State of Florida along with an attorney in attempts to resolve this issue. If this site would let me, I would give it zero stars. This company is unethical, unprofessional as they use scare tactics to get you to cancel your claim. They do not want to be inconvenienced by you and they do not want to come out to your home or do their jobs. That is how Charles, Tina and Jesse did to me. I guess they just want my money so they can be secure in their new 5 million dollar building in St. Petersburg. Their keeping their promise alright, a promise not to take care of their customers!
UPC has been the worst experience I've had in a while. They require you to take take photos of your rentals, or have your tenants do it. And it's around 60 photos. The upload process is one page at a time, so you're not quite sure exactly how many and what the photos consist of. Lastly, a month later, I received a notice of cancellation of my policy due to the brand of the electrical panel. You guys, want a better review, call me back.
I had recently helped my elderly parents through the process of buying a home. We had acquired UPC homeowners insurance through a 3rd party broker which is not uncommon as my parents purchased a home near the beach and the broker bundled the flood and homeowners together. I was contacted on my cell phone to do a "self inspection" of the property or the policy would be cancelled. I am not on the policy but was sent the self inspection request directly from UPC. I complied and spent nearly an hour walking around the home and going up into crawl spaces in the attic to get the pictures they wanted. I was contacted by them again for more information and they wanted clearer, closer pictures of labels on hot water heaters and AC units. I called UPC and told them that I sent them what they asked for as a courtesy to my parents as they would not be able to get into the crawl spaces as well as other areas requested. I WAS INFORMED THAT MY PARENTS CONDITION IS NOT A CONCERN OF THEIRS AND THAT IF THEY DON'T COMPLY THE POLICY WOULD BE CANCELLED!! My parents are paying almost $6000 A YEAR!!. UPC told us they don't send anyone out to get the information they need to do their business but would prefer us to do their job for them!! Stay away from this company! If this is what it takes to get a policy with them i can't imagine what it would be like if you actually needed them to come through on the policy you have with them.
Good luck it's been 2 months and you can not get a hold of anyone or receive a call back. I've done the claims submission form twice in e-mail and still nothing.
Had some plumbing issues . With just a little time and patience, had good results with adjuster and the company in general. Renewal came due, decided to stay with UPC. Good overall experience.
UPC Insurance has been great to work with! Their upper management is really dedicated to the growth and improvement of this company, day after day. Very impressed with all of the hard work.
Most people only take the time to write reviews when they've had a poor experience. UPC has much better coverage and service than Texas Windstorm Insurance Company, Farmers, and State Farm can offer families in coastal areas. My home and my mother's are covered by UPC. My friend Cedric had to make a claim for a burst pipe in his home and they handled the situation very quickly, coordinating with contractors and the remediation company after the work was finished.
Filed a claim and was told I would be contacted for the adjuster to come out. Waited a week and I started calling finally got a hold of someone and they gave me my handlers # and ext. Left several messages and finally she picked up the phone on the 4th day of trying to contact her. Set up the inspection and the guy came out. He said I would be contacted within 2 weeks. 2weeks came and went I started leaving messages for another week then called the company they said they would figure it out. Another week we were finally told my handler was fired ANF they don't know anything about our case. Week later we speak with a new handler and after a week of calling her. She finally told me my claim was rejected. STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY!
Submitted a roof damage claim which took ~6 months to be denied. UPC was awful throughout the whole process, and I couldn t get timely updates for my claim. I ended up having to pay out of pocket for my roof, and due to the long wait had to repair water damage.
On average, UPC has lower premiums than the big insurance companies. But, they are more likely to deny your claims. Poor communication, poor customer service. I will not recommend this company.
I emailed social claims as requested by the person below, and I have yet to hear from them. That goes to show the level of customer service they have.
This is the worst insurance company I've ever dealt with out of 4 different States. They're an insurance company by name only. Never actually helping their customers....They literally deny any claim you make and always make sure that the repairs are just under what your deductible is that way they absolutely don't have to pay out anything. With this company your basically giving them money every month so they can take your cash, and payback nothing.
Cindy Pope wasn't helpful and she was rude when u talk to her over the phone .i had to wait over 3 month to get a check .the check that she send me can't cover anything .i'm still Waitting for my roof to be fixed.we called her again no answer always no answer /very disappointed.
AVOID UPC AT ALL COSTS! I purchased their insurance in mid-December and completed my inspection report by taking photos and a video of my house and attaching some documents to their report. They said that I hadn't submitted all forms and the pictures were too small (these were 2 MB photos taken on an iPhone 8, so not too small) and canceled my insurance. Their letter said to contact my agent to determine how my coverage can remain in effect, but when I got in touch with my agent and with UPC, they said their decision was final, even though I told them I could've sent them all needed documentation in a couple of minutes. Never was I asked to provide further information during the review process. This was atrocious customer service. If you sign up, imagine how much worse the customer service will be during the aftermath of a hurricane or fire. AVOID UPC AT ALL COSTS!
The adjuster contacted me immediately, came out the next week, and received a check a week later. Amazing! I have great peace of my with them as my insurer.
My experience with UPC Insurance for my home has been positive. They handled a recent claim excellently professionally and in the right time. I recommend UPC Insurance to my friends and family.
I had UPC insurance on my home for 6+ years for a grand total of $15,00.00+ give or take a hundred or two and have never, ever filed a claim. All of a sudden I get a cancellation letter indicating the policy was being canceled due to me not letting them inspect the property. I was never notified they wanted to inspect my property. Hell, if they had just showed up and knocked on my door wanting to inspect it would have been fine with me. What a crock of you know what. They just took the money and ran and I am glad they did, as my premiums increased every year, despite me not filing one single claim and I was able to secure insurance with another company with more coverage and $800.00 less per year.
Adjuster with UPC claims are soo rude, they just dont want to listen us and talk very rudely. I have a claim going on with them and they said they cant adjust my house AC money as it was repaired before filing claim, i explained i have a baby at my house i could not wait over night to call u guys and wait for another week. As upc insurance works very slow, i have to keep calling them for all my problems. Lets see how much they adjust!! Thanks.
Had a slab leak (water leak) at my house. UPC insurance came out and gave me an estimate, which allowed me to get the leak fixed. Very happy with their service! You always hope not to have to use insurance but it is nice to have when you need it.
The worst HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE, my home was hit by A storm over 2 years ago and they won't pay, I haven't lived in my house since, my house is rotting and ruined because of them!! I hired an attorney and we are still fighting them, still won't pay, my children can't go to there home because of UPC INSURANCE!!!!!!
Pipe broke under sink soaked cabinets and warped panels, without inspection just pictures we sent agent was able to determine it was a long term slow leak! We would have noticed the lake on the floor if it was long term. She was an expert at determining the stains were long term not from being soaked from sudden break and drying for a week!
Most awful insurance company to have. We made a claim TWO months ago and I should be on salary from UPC as I am having to call them to receive updates, ask my adjuster to email me and still haven't received much. UPC doesn't have a way you can call directly into your adjuster so if you have the time to wait between 30-55 minutes (average wait time) on hold to then get asked for your claim # and off you go to a voicemail box that is either full or your leaving it for nobody to listen too.
I have called daily for the past 3 weeks as we have a roof that is leaking and the insurance company doesn't think it's a big deal. And I quote "It's not summer, it's not supposed to rain that much- you should be fine." Newsflash -global warming is happening and there are no rules at this point.
If you have the choice to select your insurance company- do not pick them. Unless of course, you want to do the work for them and pay them while you do all the work- Choice is up to you but I would run.
I've had several houses in several states, and had a range of claims from interior to exterior. From roofing to black mold. And by far, this was the easiest, consistent process I've experience. There is no way I'm ever switching companies.
Dealing with UPC Insurance was a "wonderful" experience even under the circumstances. Brendan Devine was so helpful and everything we were told was going to happen wound up happening before we knew it. Would highly recommend them...
It has been 48 days since Hurricane Michael hit and when I call my adjuster her voicemail still says she s been reassigned to another department not to leave a voicemail. She and her supervisor explain that this is an IT Issue. I ve even emailed the CEO of the company. Amazing that a billion dollar insurance company cannot even fix an I.T issue in that amount of time.
UPC sent their content adjuster, their vendor to our house on October 25. Their adjuster told us he had submitted his report to them on Oct 30. It s is now November 17 and according to my adjuster s supervisor they are investigating my contents claim. Does this make sense to anyone?
I also asked to receive documentation from them regarding their mitigation company they sent to my home, again their vendor being paid out of my homeowners policy. I had a conference call with a company big wig. He told me to get a subpoena.
I am honestly not even sure how these people sleep at night. It s 2:16 am and I cannot sleep.
UPC Claims Adjuster Sue Roblee and UPC were great. I suffered water damage to my home (burst pipe). Sue came to my home and met with me face to face in a timely matter to evaluate the damage. Sue was professional, polite, and informative. Sue really cared and tried to do all she could to process my claim in a fair manner and get me a check within a few days. The UPC payment covered my losses and all repairs in full ( minus the deductible ). UPC and Sue were outstanding!!!
Had a problem with shingles blown off our roof during a windstorm. Contacted UPC . Brendan our property claims adjuster showed up within 24 hours after contact. Assessed this issue and assured us that the issue would be resolved with the replacement of our roof. Brendan is a very professional , personable and knowledgeable individual. Would recommend UPC insurance to friends and family...KUDOS
