I enjoyed the visit. The movie they showed really inspired me to why I enjoyed the visit. Even my niece enjoyed it and she was complaining about walking too much till she took the tour.

It is exciting to be at such an imposing engineering site, it has a huge lake where you can spend a pleasant time amidst birds and fish. Depending on the season the weather is nice. The place offers free parking and some mobile food and beverage stores

It's a lovely, classy hotel, well-situated and well-priced. The staff has been very friendly and helpful. The room is larger than I expected, and I appreciated the comfortable bed with a huge stack of luxuriously fluffy pillows, along with little amenities like bathrobes and slippers The tea room is beauriful, and i love the fact that they serve afteenoon tea, complete with finger sandwiches, scones, and kir royale. This place has real character, and I will definitely return.

It is a little bit disappointing that the main landmark building did not enter due to the government strike. It is said that the construction method of Washington D.C is made so that the height from the floor to the dome is 40m and it is the same height as Washington Capitol and Washington memorial monument and can not build a building higher than these two buildings.

We had a private tour from an intern working in our congressman s office. That made all the difference as we had a personal guide to tell us so much of the history of the Capitol. The views of the capital rotunda are absolutely More

We were here on vacation from Chicago and it was a great experience. The exterior of the building is outstanding, it is enormous and the architecture is lovely. Inside the visitor's center it is very grand and there is a short, but informative museum to check out. It is about the history of the US and how the capitol has developed throughout time.

This place is where the nation s heart stands and I truly believe every DC tour should start here. You can just walk in for a free guided tour and feel the strength of the union as you walk by different chambers. Doesn t matter where you stand in the political spectrum, a tour in the Capitol would make you wanna be a better citizen. All the tour guides are really ambitious and happy with their work and their knowledge of history is amazing. Definitely a must do in DC!

The US Capitol, often referred to as the Houses of...

The US Capitol, often referred to as the Houses of Parliament or Capitol Hill, is home to the US Congress and the legislative branch of the US federal government. It is located on the Pacific Rim Capitol Hill, at the National Plaza in the eastern end of Washington, DC.. Although not the geographic center of the Federal District, the Capitol constitutes the new district's street numbering system and the origin of the four quadrants of the district.

The original building was completed in 1800 and was subsequently expanded, in particular with the addition of a large number of domes. Like the main buildings of the executive and judicial departments, the Capitol is built in a unique neoclassical style and has a white appearance. Regardless of its eastward and west are officially referred to as aspects, although only the east positive purpose is for tourists and VIP reception.

In 2014, scaffolding was erected around the dome and is scheduled to be completed in early 2017.

For historical reasons I would rate a 5. For the security staff 1. You are herded like cattle, with little to no direction on what they want you to do. They just grunt and point, then yell if you don't do the correct task they grunt at you. Also I took my 1 year old nephew there and they made him go through the metal detector without any help. He ended up falling and hitting his head. The guards did nothing. Also I would NOT recommend sitting in the Senate Chamber. The people there are worse. They make you feel like you shouldn't be there and they are too good for the job they do. Also I noticed the lines can be really long if you want a tour. If you want to skip the really long lines, email your senators and ask for one. Then you can skip the line and maybe meet them while you're there. Our tour guide from the Iowa senator was amazing. In the end, I would say at some point in your life you should see this place. So much history has happened there. Just the downside is the rest of the staff treat you like you're not even human.

Gorgeous and well-organized BUT be forwarned: "No food or water" does NOT mean, "No eating or drinking in building." It means that the Capitol Police literally will turn you away or make you throw away any snacks, sack lunches, drinks & empty your water bottles before entering. If you bring food on-the-go, do not visit until AFTER meal/snack time.

This was my second visit to Washington, DC and i was lucky enough that the restoration of the US Capitol was done after more than 3 years of work! Very beautiful building. On my first visiting, I did the tour inside the US Capitol, it was very informative and interesting. Totally recommended.

Really enjoyed the tour inside the Capitol building. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and funny. Really interesting history and beautiful inside. Liked the fact you can then walk through a tunnel to cross over to the library of Congress which again was beautiful.

If you re visiting DC as a foreigner, this is a must see! Booking a tour is fairly easy and free. Although, you don t get to visit the chambers ; the rotunda itself makes the visit worth it.

Special shoutout to our tour guide which was quite funny and knowledgeable.

Our tour guide Charlie Chen is very nice and funny. An unforgettable experience in the Capitol Hill and DC museum. Tips : Capital hill tour and museum is free. Use public transportation or taxi to get to capital hill. It is very hard to get parking. A must see for incredible history and architecture.

A visit to the Capitol is a must for me. The free tickets can be reserved online in advance so that you have a fixed time (if you arrive earlier and the tours are not fully booked, you can slide forward without any problems). The tour begins in a huge group in one of two cinemas, then you are guided through the Capitol with around 25 people and a headset. Not particularly long and, depending on the guide, sometimes more or less enigmatic - but standing under this dome is great. In addition, you go briefly towards the House of Representatives and that's it.

It is also worth asking whether there are tickets for the House of Representatives or the Senate --- also free of charge --- but limited availability. Foreign tourists can get them in the Visitor Center (or with luck, directly at the entrance to the Senate and House of Representatives).

Unfortunately when I gave it to me there were scaffolding on the dome to ruin the glance, even if in any case compared to the monuments and public / symbolic buildings just seen it is what struck me less. More in general I would say that to see all of Washington well, two days are more than enough.

Went and got a tour from a person who works for our local representative. Awesome tour guide. Very magnificent building on the outside. On the inside, there is marble everywhere. Food and drinks are not allowed. I was disappointed though that inside the main Capitol dome, there are Greek and Roman gods and goddesses. I expected an image of God watching down on us. The 1$ bill says In God We Trust.

I go there almost twice a week as a tour guide, the tour guides inside the Capitol are also very friendly , normal they will allow me to translate what they said to my customers since most of them are mandarin speakers. Weekdays are normally busier than weekends. The best time to take a picture of the eastern front is before noon when the weather is nice, and for western side, you could either do earlier in the morning when the sun is still gentle or afternoon. The drop off location for bus is near the Garfield cycle, there is a handicap shuttle station nearby, the staffs there are always ready to provide shuttle services to the elderly and disables. The Capitol open Monday through Saturday from 8:30-4:30. At around 4:00pm there will be no more in-deep tour, but 10 mins quick tour to the dome.
