Tour visited United Nations United Nations

Tour visited United Nations United Nations
The people next to me said they didn't have a passport, so they were going to fly 30,000 won.
Passport is required. No resident registration card
The location is east of Manhattan. 20 minutes by bus at 35W
Tour time is about 2 hours combined with waiting time
This is a must visit when you visit New York.
Tour reservations can be made online (at least one month in advance)
There are also one or two Korean tours a day, so I think it would be better to check in advance and go.

The guide explained to us how the UN protected men and was for freedom of rights etc. Only that, with the visit of the large rather impressive conference rooms.
The store offers lots of small Onu goodies and lots of interesting books.
To do.

For people who like simulation models visiting this place is a real pleasure because of its significance in the world (we may or may not agree with some decisions made there but still the sensation is great. The staff is kind and respectful and you can even get some souvenirs in their store

You must book a Korean guide unconditionally before you visit. It is only twice a day. You may not be able to make an appointment at the scene. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What a great place to take the kids. Tickets for the UN tour are very reasonable and the tour is fantastic. It isn t just boring facts and figures. They really show how the UN effects the lives of all its members. If your child is in or wants to be in Model UN then this is a must. The gift store downstairs has everything with UN logos but the cool part is that there is a UN post office. You can buy United Nations stamps and mail them. Remember. The UN is not part of America so when they cancel the stamp it is actually a foreign post

Indeed this place take down to the history of the world , many picture and quotes are displayed in the wall in very systematic way . It was like a dream come true, I heard about the united nations since my childhood never thought I will be here physically to see this great organisaiton headquarter.

I thought that I should not look at the United Nations Building.
However, it is around 6 o'clock in the morning of October.
It's still dark, and it's cold.
Not a great UN building nor flags in time.
However, the dignity of the international centers was good.
It was good to say. After that, I went to Wall Street.

I don t really know how to review the UN headquarters. It s not like anyone is looking to make diner reservations there. From this building the entire world is run. The only real critique I can give is that everything in the gift shop is overpriced.

Great place to visit. Tour guide was very good. Interesting to see the inside of general assembly and security council.
You don't have to have a tour booked to go inside the complex (but you do to see the general assembly and council chambers). You must check in St security office across the road from entrance before going through the security check.

I took the hour long tour. It was very good. I actually would have preferred it be longer. There's so much that could have been said about all the various committee rooms and artwork around the buildings but there just wasn't time. It also would have been nice to walk among the assembly rooms. I guess there are security reasons for not allowing that. Nonetheless, it is definitely worth the visit.

Great place to pass by when in Midtown. Tip: go up the steps opposite the UN at the Isaiah verse. This viewpoint gives you a great shot on the UN building. My wife and I prayed there for the nations of the world.

An interesting place to visit, even though the guided tours were all sold out for the day when we were there. There are a number of free pictures and text cards and other things to see in the lobby. You can look down into one of the meeting chambers through some thick glass windows. The gift store downstairs has items from many different countries. There are also a book store and small cafeteria downstairs. There are several sculptures outside to see. The row of flags are up when there are general assembly meetings going on.

Security is stringent, they wouldn't let me ever with an expired govt id. It's better to come before 4 so you can see the flags. Security checking was OK and once you enter the building, you can walk around. You can't enter the tall rectangle Secretariat building as public.

The UN headquarters is the dream place to be for anyone with interest in international policy and diplomacy. I was glad that Youth Assembly offered me an opportunity to be there in August, 2016

Visit in French very interesting but it is necessary to pass several points of land security allow time. Building with a superb view of the river. It is interesting to visit the rooms where big decisions are made. To see once in his life.

It is a building with enormous symbolic and instrumental power for the world. There decisions are made every day that will affect the planet, more or less. Inside the air that is breathing is international, is to leave the United States for a while to any other part.

The headquarters of the United Nations in New York is a complex of buildings. Most of the visit takes place in the Secretariat Tower. You also enter the huge chamber of the UN General Assembly and the Security Council Chamber. During your visit to the building you will see works of art donated by each of the member countries. There are even remnants of twisted metal caused by nuclear explosions in Japan, recalling the brutality of the war.

The visits to the UN last about an hour and the Visitor Center is accessed through the entrance of located on 1st Avenue, at 46th Street in Manhattan.

Being an extraterritorial and international organization, at the end of the 40s it was decided to entrust the design of the headquarters of the United Nations to a committee of architects from different nations. The idea was to represent with this act the pluricultural and unifying spirit of the UN.

The American Wallace Harrison (architect of the Rockefeller Center and design coordinator of the Lincoln Center) was in charge of leading the group of architects who would design the building. The dynamic that he established was the following: each participant would present at least one proposal, then all would be discussed together until arriving at a final agreed-upon product. Something like a rain of architectural ideas.

The certain thing is that, more than collaboration, it became a hard competition of egos, in which more than 50 proposals tried to impose themselves on the others. Among the "competitors" were the famed French architect Le Corbusier and his Brazilian disciple Oscar Niemeyer. Because of the international fame of Le Corbusier, he always took the win, with Niemeyer being the only one who managed to counterbalance him.

In the end, the winning design was indeed the proposal of Le Corbusier -Scheme 23A-, but yes, with important modifications made by Niemeyer.

Another version of this story says that the final project is actually by Niemeyer, who managed to see the light after Wallace Harrison convinced Le Corbusier that his work was no more than an imitation of his ideas, so he had won ...

Wonderful tour and building. The whole concept of this organization is very rosy but unfortunately they accomplish little in the way of real change outside of unicef and some humanitarian missions.

There are some fancy apartment buildings around here. I moved some appliances out of a bunch of them at various times. Usually about a zillion elevators and tons of demanding supers and there is always competition for truck parking because everybody who lives near the UN is getting their apartment renovated in perpetuity.

Still working to get the world together as originally planned, especially in the face of climate change and terrorism. Those kind of political wills that gave birth to it should be encouraged now.
