It is a great place to work! I mean there is no bigger stage in the world than the UN. I grew up in a culture where everyone asks you when you are a kid, whether you want to be a doctor, engineer, lawyer or play cricket for Sri Lanka when you grow up? When I said that I want to play cricket, work at @unitednations and be a diplomat one day, people laughed at my last two ambitions. Every Sri Lankan is born with the dream of playing cricket for Sri Lanka and so did I, but only a very few get the chance to fulfill the dream at once and I was not one of them. Yet here I am today at a UN General Assembly.

There are so many tourists who come and visit NYC and i think visiting the UN is a must but please make sure you get tickets early.

Touring the UN Headquarters is something I had never done before, and is something which everyone who is in the area should do. It is awesome to see the large conference rooms, and art from around the world.

I am glad we decided to tour UN headquarters at NY city. It is an hour long tour & you get to see general assembly, security council (we were lucky that session had just ended 10 minutes prior), trustee council etc.. Our tour guide was excellent & gave good view of UN work. In the courtyard there are several artwork displays that are worth looking at. The gift center is very good with lots of reasonably priced items.

The visit has to be made from Monday to Friday if you want to see the plenary room. The truth is not a very interesting visit, little more than the room and some very simple underground stores. You have to pick up the tickets at a local directly in front of you. Admission is free.

Beautiful interior. Very interesting to see inside the UN headquarters, and when we were there, there were a few educational displays about indigenous groups of the world and projects that the UN is involved in.

If you are visiting New York, this is a must-see course.
Anyone can visit the entrance, but the tour of the conference hall must be requested in advance.
You may not be able to visit the four conference halls during the international conference, but if you are lucky, you can go into all four. Photo shooting is not allowed.
Korean tours are only available through the Tami's Light. High school students, rather than younger friends, will be able to get great insights.

Beautiful installations, filled of art and history. The guided tour is not as ashtonishing as I expected but is good enough to understand what this organization is about. Most of the areas are not available for visitors to visit so as far as photography there is very little to take advantage of when you visit this site, it will be best recommenend for international relations students or related carrers like diplomatics

Obviously, it is a "must see" but the home is not up to the site. Guided tour in French (to book well in advance!) Too fast and often charged without conviction. Cafeteria in the basement convenient and interesting shop.

Very impressive complex. Haven't tried an organized tour per se, so I can't exactly speak for their quality. But if you're able to visit with an employee of the UN it's quite a memorable experience. Highly recommend visiting

The tour is great and not too long. I recommend going around 1-2pm so that you're allowed everywhere, otherwise you might find some rooms closed to the public if there's a session going on. Also, from September until December (inclusive) is the most likely time for something like that to happen, so take into consideration!

A lot of great experiences here. From the breathtaking views of Manhattan, to the phenomenal storytelling through pictures, sculptures and collages, to the incredible experience of being within the General Assembly hall, the UN headquarters is a place I'll want to visit again and again.

Been there twice and it's very emotional each time. meeting people that have in mind only projects and ideas for a better world, inspiring people, people ready to change and work for others. My tool to engage people in UN is Rotaract/Rotary Global Model United Nations but there is an infinite list of opportunities

As everyone says, show your passport at the Visitor Center opposite the place where the 46th entrance gate is located, check in, then cross the signal and enter from the entrance gate.
This will be an opportunity to review the international function again.

You can visit the general assembly. You have to get free pass from across the street with a government issued photo ID such as a driver's license or a passport. Then cross the street, get through security checkpoint. Then you can visit the grounds outside before going into the assembly building. You can join a paid tour to get to the upper floors and see more meeting rooms and listen to the tour guide's introduction. A free self-guided tour only allows you to visit the first floor and basement.

Although there are many places to speak these days, the work of international organizations is so large that it is worth the visit. If you apply for an internal tour, the UN internal tour is possible, and a Korean staff member can explain it. Usually the inner tour ends at the basement level in the photo, where there are souvenir shops and food courts. I used to have a UN stamp on my passport at the place in the photo, but recently it was said to have disappeared, but I could not confirm it.
